Any explanation about this warning from the WLC4402 after the software upgrade to 7.0.96. version? this is the message: Warning: WLC has detected its IP add xx.xx.xx.xx being used by a machine with MAC add xx:xx:xx:xx.and the MAC add found is the the mac add of the dynamic interface of the WLC.

There are 26ap's connected to the 4402, a mixture of 1130's and 1142's. The memory error in the subject is popping up quite frequently.
No reference I can find on this forum or other Cisco.com.

I have recently bought a cisco EA3500 router for my home network and i am pretty surprised to see that a router from the world leader in the networking domain cannot perform as expected.
The first problem i had was that the network (wired and wireless) was dropping from time to time for a couple of minutes with the power led of the router blinking. I turned off the log feature of the router and it seems that until now the problem is resolved.
Now, the second and, at least as annoying as the first, is that i have a 640gb usb hdd connected to the router, formatted NTFS. It seems that every now and then a file gets corrupted, that is, it is transformed into a folder! And it cannot be recovered without pulling out the hdd and using a 3rd parth software for file recovery.
I have the latest firmware. Should i switch back to the classic firmware instead of the "fancy" new one? I really need my files on that drive, so i cannot risk loosing them in this random manner.
just purchase this RV016 and the firmware has been updated to 3.0.2.01-tm.
Almost every download I try through the router leads to a curruption somehow, even though the download manager gets it all. If I go straight from the cable modem I have no problems. I use a cat5 lead from the front ports on the router to my PC. A few small downloads under 512kb work.
I haven't change much from the default setup apart from the IP address to 192.168.12.10
It's a 4mbps upload and 0.8 downlink from what speedtest shows. I have tried diff DL managers, and get the same result on different connected PC's when through the router. The great thing about the RV016 is it speeds up the connection on this cable modem.
What can I change to get downloads working?
I have ordered RP2 and it will be having 8GB default memory. What is the difference between memory & Physical memory?Since I am able to see only 4GB memory in my ASR 1004. [code]
View 1 Replies View RelatedMost devices pass a client name to DHCP when requesting an IP, but some like my smartphone, do not. When a device does not pass a client name garbage is entered as the name of the client name.The first is that when you use the Web Admin pages, and select Status/Local Network/DHCP Clients, the table will not display any clients because there is an error on the page. If you right click and View Source from the browser, you will see all the client entries are there and one of them will have garbage (unprintable characters) for the client name.The second and more serious issue is that the internal DHCP table once corrupt is unstable. I've had my BEFSR41 reboot because of the corruption and then I get IP conflicts on my LAN because the DHCP starts handing out in-use IPs.I'm on hardware version 4.3 and the latest firmware Ver.2.00.4 Build 8 (which is very difficult to install without bricking the router). BTW, when I use a WRT54GL router with the smartphone, it is properly handled by the DHCP and shows a blank client name, not garbage.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got a WVC80N Cisco wireless,Tried to set it up the camera there, no luck. The installation seems to go fine right up to the point where you disconnect the camera and it searches for it on the network, then I get the error message - camera not detected (even though when cabled to to router it is recognized). Tried it over and over, shut down rebooted and eventually forced the camera to reboot and erase all the settings and start over. No luck.Could it be my router is too old ? I thought it might be so I brought a second one in - a Linksys, pretty sure it was type N.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy friend uninstalled some programmes on his Toshiba laptop and now he can only connect to the router via an ethernet cable. When trying to find wireless networks the message "No wireless networks detected" appears. Other laptops and devices have no problems connecting throughout the house. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the right drivers for the wireless adapter, checked that the TCP/IP settings are on obtain ip address automatically, checked that the NIC is enabled in the BIOS and checked that the WLAN is on automatic in the services utilty and there is no other WZC running.

From what I can see on some of the message discussion boards, this is an alert only message. I would like to get clarification that this will not cause operational issues with the controller.
I did try to change the free memory by using the command
config memory monitor leaks 10000 300000
but then I get a response about core dumps and the alerts do not go away.
I am using Nokia Siemens router. Recently there is an hack on the network. So I changed the security by enabling WPA2-PSK and AES and mac filter enabled. After that two of my roommate machines are not getting connected to WiFi. Even I cant see ssid being detected in thier machines. How to connect to the machines. I have tried by removing security also but those two machines cant even detect the network being broadcasted by us. But it is detecting other networks (neighbors wifi).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently did a recovery on my laptop and had to put everything back to factory settings (losing all my music, programs, etc) due to a hard disk issue that I couldn't fix otherwise. After several hours waiting for the process to finish I logged onto my laptop - a toshiba, and realized that my wifi isn't working. The computer says there is an issue with the LAN being disconnected, but my router is communicating fine with other devices. Also, the side switch that turns wifi on and off is lit up (indicating that it is on) despite the fact that Fn + F8 are not responding on my computer. Generally, the laptop cannot detect any wireless devices or routers.I did another system recovery after reading about the issue, and tried turning it on and off, etc, but with no success.

I am using WPA-PSK and the key I am inputting is correct, my phone connects to the network with no problems.
I have win7 on an HP Pavilion dv7. I came to my friend's house before, and his WiFi didn't come up as an option to connect to. I unplugged and plugged back in the router, and that worked and I was able to connect with no problem. But today, that didn't fix the problem. I have restarted my computer and the router several times, I have deleted the corresponding wireless profile under "manage wireless networks" list, I have turned off my McAfee firewall to see if that was blocking the connection, I have tried connecting manually through the network and sharing center, I have troubleshooted my wireless adapters (Atheros AR5009 802.11 a/g/n and Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter), I have turned off and turned back on my HP wireless assistant, I have updated the dirvers for the two adapters, I have installed the latest windows updates, I have done all I can think of. And it's not the router, because my cell phone can connect, as well as the other computers in the house, without any problems.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have had this problem now for a couple of weeks, can't seem to find a solution, even after trying all sorts of things I have seen on the web. I can not seem to get the wireless internet to work on my computer. The problem started a while ago and since then I've actually formatted my hard drive and reloaded Windows XP and everything else back onto my computer. I ahve tried connecting to the wireless at home and at work and neither is working. My computer can see the networks when but can not connect to them. I used to have no problem connecting to my home network, I have not ever connected tot he one at work, just thought I'd try it when I couldn't get it to work at home.
1. Updating my LAN driver (I've tried numerous ones and the one that works best is the one that came with my windows XP)
2. Ran both Spybot and AVG to check on spyware/malware/virus and there was not a single thing on either one.
3. Tried many combinations of setup configurations with my home wireless set up. It is a password protected hookup that I have never had problems with before.So in seeing several posts on here I have the following information from my CMD

I haven't had internet in a couple of months until recently when I got cable broadband and a TP-Link wireless router. The setup works fine with a ADSL cable but I can't get my laptop to connect to any wireless networks including my new router. If I run a windows troubleshooting diagnostic it says I have no preferred networks. If I go to "manage wireless networks" the box is empty and if I click "add" NOTHING happens. I can see my wireless networks in the networks box on the taskbar but when I click on them nothing happens (secured or unsecured) I'm pretty sure the problem is not with the router but maybe with the adapter or the pc itself. Others can connect to the wireless network

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust a few days ago, one of my coworkers computer was unable to see any of our wireless access points - all aironet 1140. He is one of two using a Win 7 machine, everybody else uses Mac with either Lion or Mountain Lion. The Macs can "see" and connect to our wireless AP's just fine.
The odd thing is that is his computer can pick up our neighbors wireless access points, but can't "see" ours. Also, a few peoples phones can no longer detect them either - both iphone 4's (ios 5.1.1 and 6) and androids (2.3 and 4)
No changes were made to our AP's, then people started having wifi issues.
What is the average memory usage for a Cisco 5508 with 500 APs (mostly 3502s) running 7.0.116.0 code? I am currently at 450 access points and have 80% memory usage should I be concerned?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've formatted my HP 530 Notebook (using 'Operating System CD - Windows XP Professional SP2'). All went well. It was my first format but I read a lot on the internet, so I knew I had to download and install the chipset, the bus driver, the audio and video drivers, the network adapters, etc. This I did, on the HP website [URL].
Everything is working perfectly except for the internet. The device (a Broadcom wireless network adapter I installed from the HP website) is reportedly 'working properly', the HP assistant says that the Wireless LAN is 'ON', but my Broadcom wireless network wizard cannot find any network, let alone the network of my router. The Windows assistant is just as useless.
I've tried it all: uninstalling and re-installing, snooping around with 'ipconfig /all' and utilities like 'Everest', to start the Wireless Zero Configuration, to use other network adapters, installing SPs and patches, all that jazz. Apparently, everything is fine and 'working properly' - except that there's no network in sight.
Clearing up some questions:
- The 'Everest' utility says that the Interface Type of my wireless network adapter is 'Ethernet'. Isn't Ethernet supposed to be for cable connections?
- Needless to say, I've been back and forth with drivers a lot. Windows calls my wireless (non)connection 'Wireless Network Connection 2'. Is this in any way significant?
- I'm using 'Broadcom' because that's all I saw at the HP website. Should I try something else instead, like Atheros or Intel something-something?
I'm becoming a bit desperate, so if all else fails, I'm willing to reformat the computer (for the third time) and install the drivers you recommend to me in the recommended order.
My wireless printer has a permanent IP address but since I have changed broadband providers I do not know how to change this to the new network. The printer cannot be detected on wireless.

I have had to serial into each unit and give it a static IP and then I can see it on the WLC. Shoulsnt this be automatic?

I unplugged one of the joined and the first one joined!! I replugged the second one but could not join!! I unplugged the first one and replugged the second one: the second joined the controller but the first could not associate again!

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just pulled the AP out of the box and haven't received support contracts yet. I connected the AP to the LAN and added it to my 4402 controller (version 5.2.178.0) with no problems. Once I set it the mode to H-REAP and it rebooted, it went loopy. Actually, it boots up, shows a bunch of debug info, then reboots. The console output is below. I've tried reimaging (image c1140-rcvk9w8-tar.124-21a.JA2.tar) but still have the same problem. I checked and although the controller software is old, the AP is supported.

I have a an HP Pavilion dv6000t notebook running Windows Vista.I have a wireless router at home and connect to the wireless signal using both this computer and my other computer that I use for work. Yesterday, out of the blue, my laptop stopped connecting to my home wireless signal.It detects the signal, but when I click on it to connect (something I shouldn't have to do, as it is configured to connect automatically), I get a message saying that it couldn't connect and suggests that the signal strength is low.I know that the signal strength is fine as I am connected just fine on my work computer.I can plug my laptop into the router using a cable and it connects just fine that way, so the only problem is with the wireless signal. I have restarted the computer, modem, and router, to no avail.
