Basically I have about 80 Compaq Evo n610 sitting around after all the teaching staff got an upgrade and I want to build a render farm out of them, or some sort of system that I can have all the power of the laptops available to one desktop; each laptop had 520mb of RAM and a 1.8ghz single core CPU.
I have got an N Computing L230 Acces terminal whic i have no idea how it works actually i dont really know how. My problem is that Can it be used through a second ethernet board? On every site i found says i need a x300 pci card which i dont know what it is. Can someone explain that can i use instead of pci card a simple ethernet card ?
I am trying to put a wireless router behind another router. I have DHCP on the wireless router disabled and connected wireless router LAN port to wired router LAN port. The wired ports on the wireless router work fine. The wireless signal strength is good and shows a good connection. But wireless connectivity to the internet is poor. Ping to the main router shows most packets are lost. I have assigned the wireless router an address outside the DHCP range but in the same group. Main router is 192.168.15.1, wireless is 192.168.15.2, DHCP range is 192.168.15.100 to 192.168.15.130. I though the router might be bad as it is an older one so I got a new one - same issue.Update - found the problem. The wireless on the old router was still connected and running. Had some trouble getting wireless turned off for it. First speedtest.net run on new wireless showed low download speed (0.35 Mbps) but later showed same as wired (1.3Mbps). Not sure why the first test was so low as I have tested several times and now get the higher number. The old router (DI-524) even seems to display its web interface slowly although the wired ports still seem to work ok at least LAN to LAN.
I'm a college professor and was assigned a new course called Distributed Operating Systems. I'ts new material for me. And in research for class I have found that several machines can be connected together to build a bigger computer like a supercomputer. How could I connect several PC's and make them work together like parallel computing, o something likea super computer?
so I went into device manager and deleted the 2 network adapters, rebooted and let Windows reinstall. Windows created a new Local Area Connection (LAC4, 2 and 3 are gone). It reads limited or no connectivity and is using Linksys LNE 100TX Fast Ethernet Adapter, just like the previous LAC2. The previous LAC3, which used the WAN Network Driver never got reinstalled. I don't get it.Since a Linksys adapter on a wired connection seemed bizarre I tried to find what the correct network driver should beI Googled "Compaq Presario 5400US" "ethernet driver" OR "network driver" and was taken to an HP drivers page, which This page has nothing listed for chipset or network adapters
My friends has a compaq computer running vista that can't connect to the internet. The computer can see networks, but when it tries to connect to them it says, "connecting to the network is taking longer than usual". We've tried hooking it up directly to the router with a LAN cable, but that doesn't work either. On his windows update it says there's an update ready for his wireless card driver, but you have to be able to connect to the internet to download it.
I have a compaq presario V6500 laptop running windows vista SP2. For the past few days i am not able to connect to the internet using ethernet port. But my wireless still works. On checking device manager, my network adapter, a nVidia nForce networking controller#2, gives the following error.
i got a compaq mini cq10 400sa given to me by my friend for the mean time as my laptop has stopped working. it runs on windows 7. it is not detecting any wireless network whatsoever.
I have a Compaq presario CQ61 laptop running windows 7 and since my boyfriend installed a new netgear wireless router I haven't been able connect to the home wireless network. I have no problem connecting to public or private wireless networks at my house or elsewhere. Also, my boyfriend and his roommate have no problem connecting to the network on their laptops. It is a WPA encrypted network. I have also tried shutting off the firewall on my computer without any change. My laptop doesn't even recognize the network - i tried to manually add the network to my computer but it still won't come up on my list of active networks.
I have a compaq preario running on windows 7 ultimate. It has been working well with the internet connection but recently it stopped connecting to the internet. It recognizes other computers in the network but the internet connection is not available.
I want to setup a DC++ HUB for sharing data within the university local network. We have addresses of the form 172.31.*.*. These addressed are accessible within the university bu non routable outside on the internet. My plan is to setup a local HUB for DC++ for sharing data within the university intranet. So even if internet is unavailable data can be exchanged through LAN. This HUB must not be accessable outsied the university network.how should I do this all..implementing network sharing other than DC++. My basic idea is that everybody can share their data and the data is searchable from one common interface( Web interface is better option, if possible). And data featching should prefferably be from many hosts, using multiple connections so that speed can be improved..
i'm connected to the internet through a shared internet connection through a switch, and also have 3 computers connected to the same switch, what i want to setup a local network between the 3 computers but separated from the internet network?
how do i use wireless on compaq n620c. There's a wireless function button located on th F2 key, so i thought pressing fn and F2 together would turn on wireless but nothing happens.
I have the above mentioned server and I am new to servers been building my own rigs for years. New project is to get a rack going.
Things wrong that need to be fixed.
1. Installed ClearOs and Zentyal installed fine but when it goes to boot I get a black blinking cursor screen. 2.How to update the bios and harddrive firmware? 3.Im in need of a way to view this box over the network and be able to turn it off and on
I am having problems setting up a network, recently bought a used linksys router and had to restore to default settings. Now I am trying to set it up but I cant go to the ip 192.168... it times out, but when I go online and do the same thing I get a FW-1 at checky: Access denied. error. This is obviously my first time setting up a network using a router. what am I doing wrong? I checked drivers and I have tried plugging the cat5 into both internet and the 1st and 3rd port with little success, either a timed out connection or an error.
I have a Compaq Armada 1598DT and I need to get the internet on the laptop but I don't know how. I am not sure how you can get a wired connection to the laptop as there is no internet cable connection.
My daughter has an old Compaq N600c with OS XP professional. When she visits me she would like to use my wireless broadband, however, her laptop does not seem to have a wireless capability. Is there any way we can install a card or something? I opened the silver multiport cover on the laptop lid and there is a green card in there, marked PCB-PC7507 TRANSFB-30D-VER 310.Alternatively, would one of those USB dongle adaptors work? If so, can you suggest what to buy?Im useless with computers.
I'm checking a mini laptop for a friend and found out that the wireless does not work on it. First I tried checking the button to activate it and it didn't work, even if the indicador says it's off/on it doesn't have an effect on the network adapter. The PC is running Windows 7 32-bit. I downloaded the Ralink 2011 802.11 b/g/n WiFi Adapter driver and tried reinstalling it. Funny thing is that the installation went smoothly but in the driver details the name of the driver shows the default Windows one, 3.0.0.14 I beleive. Tried again to install the driver since I thought it was a bad download or something but the same results. I've tried with the Atheros driver but the installer said that since the card is not present no drivers would be installed, so I assume that the model is the Ralink. So far the network card appears disabled on the network adapter window, and if I try to enable it, it remains disabled.
I have a Compag Netbook (running Windows XP Home Edition) which will not connect to the internet, however the wireless icon in the tray is telling me that the signal strength is good and that i am connected but i cannot access any webpage. I know it is probably not the modem as we have another netbook in the house which connects no problem, as does our laptop so i'm figuring its something to do with the Compaq netbook??
I've had a look at some of the other queries regarding this on the site and note that you recommend 'ipconfig /all' results so you can gain a better understanding of what the problem might be, so here it is below
Windows IP Configuration Host Name: Compaq-38184c6a Primary DNS Suffix: Node Type: Unknown
I've been searching the Internet all day for drivers for this Notebook and have found most of them, but need two more. I can't get online.
It's a Windows XP Professional OS but I cannot get online without an Ethernet Controller driver, which I still haven't been able to find. I also need a Multimedia Audio Controller.
It's an old notebook but has hardly been used. The specs are as follows:
Intel[R] Pentium[R] M processor 1.73Ghz 795 MHz,0.99 GB of RAM Physical Address Extension
I still have the original Windows XP Professional disk find these two drivers? I've searched every HP Compaq driver site I could find to not avail.
