I have a Compaq Armada 1598DT and I need to get the internet on the laptop but I don't know how. I am not sure how you can get a wired connection to the laptop as there is no internet cable connection.
View 2 RepliesI have a Compag Netbook (running Windows XP Home Edition) which will not connect to the internet, however the wireless icon in the tray is telling me that the signal strength is good and that i am connected but i cannot access any webpage. I know it is probably not the modem as we have another netbook in the house which connects no problem, as does our laptop so i'm figuring its something to do with the Compaq netbook??
I've had a look at some of the other queries regarding this on the site and note that you recommend 'ipconfig /all' results so you can gain a better understanding of what the problem might be, so here it is below

I have an HP/Compaq laptop that is quite a few years old but has been working fine. It has stopped connecting to the internet although it will connect to my wireless network. The internet works and all other devices (my tablet, my phone, daughter's laptop, etc) all connect. The laptop started having troubles recently and would eventually connect to the internet if I rebooted a couple of times. However, I've been trying multiple times today and it still won't connect.I have Windows Vista and the repair function has not fixed it or diagnosed the error.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy sister's Compaq Presario CQ62 Laptop, and from what she told me, she can't access the internet. When she can access, it's only with Internet Explorer.
She couldn't register Microsoft Office, use Avast, use Firefox, use Chrome, install updates, and access the iTunes store to name a few examples.
She was able to run MalwareBytes, but no infections were found.
I don't think it's the router, because my sister is also my roommate and I can access the internet just fine, as well as gaming consoles and iPods. But I don't know, maybe it is the router and I'm just not realizing it.
I'm trying to figure out the problem, but it's just not coming to me. I guess she's had this problem since October 2010. I thought it might be an IP address issue, so I reserved an IP address to her, but it appears that nothing changed.
My compaq presario F750us stopped connecting to the internet both wired and wireless. It no longer recognizes its Artheros Ar 5700 wireless adapter. The ethernet connection is restricted to local access only. The notebook runs Windows Vista Home Premium. I have followed all diagnostic and repair steps as per Vista's instructions. Two other computers remain connected. The router is Linksys Wrt 54 G2 V1.

I can connect his lapatop to our Motorola SBG 6580, but then cannot connect to the internet. I get the error that the DNS lookup failed. I have looked everywhere on the HP site, and have talked to the Motorola people. I can't download an updated driver without the internet (I don't think)
View 19 Replies View RelatedI have a Compaq CQ60. It formerly belonged to a friend (who had no problems with it) and I restored factory settings. However it isn't connecting to my router! Well, it does connect - but it calls it "unidentified" and despite my many attempts it just won't allow me access to the internet. The two other laptops in the house are connected to it fine though. I tried connecting to my neighbour's wireless router, and it worked no problem, including the internet! I bought an ethernet cable earlier, which successfully connected my laptop to the internet. (Although it said I was connected to a homenetwork as well as my Talk Talk router, which it proceeds to call "unidentified" and is restricted to local access). However, I really need it to work wirelessly. I have not been able to use the laptop yet as the ethernet cable does not allow me to leave the router!

My daughter has an old Compaq N600c with OS XP professional. When she visits me she would like to use my wireless broadband, however, her laptop does not seem to have a wireless capability. Is there any way we can install a card or something? I opened the silver multiport cover on the laptop lid � and there is a green card in there, marked PCB-PC7507 TRANSFB-30D-VER 310.Alternatively, would one of those USB dongle adaptors work? View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm checking a mini laptop for a friend and found out that the wireless does not work on it. First I tried checking the button to activate it and it didn't work, even if the indicador says it's off/on it doesn't have an effect on the network adapter. The PC is running Windows 7 32-bit. I downloaded the Ralink 2011 802.11 b/g/n WiFi Adapter driver and tried reinstalling it. Funny thing is that the installation went smoothly but in the driver details the name of the driver shows the default Windows one, 3.0.0.14 I beleive. Tried again to install the driver since I thought it was a bad download or something but the same results. I've tried with the Atheros driver but the installer said that since the card is not present no drivers would be installed, so I assume that the model is the Ralink. So far the network card appears disabled on the network adapter window, and if I try to enable it, it remains disabled.

My cable modem is connected straight to the computer by ethernet wire. It happened before and I unistalled the Vista update and it was fine. I can't see what the problem is this time cause my Event log won't come up saying that the Snapin for the MMC isn't properly loading. I am able to see alerts but there wasn't any on that date. My Norton's won't come up either stating that the side by side configuration isn't right.
