I set up my linksys wireless router as I have before. I am using Verizon PPOE DSL with modem in bridge mode I am online in that I receive email in outlook and can use IM. However I can't surf to any web page. All the troubleshooting I have done has come up short. I can ping yahoo, my dns, gateway, and local ip.

I've confirmed that I am indeed connected to the internet (I know this because, for example, I have no problem at all downloading games via Steam). For some reason, though, when it comes to surfing the web using a browser it's as if I'm not connected (even Steam can't load the Store page, I can only download games via the Library).I moved an infection a week or two ago, and I suspect it altered something that is causing this issue. I did get some advice to open the browser and go to Tools>Internet Options>Connections>Lan Settings and make sure "Automatically detect settings" was checked, and "Use proxy server for your LAN" was not checked.I did this, and in fact "Use proxy server" WAS checked while Automatically detect settings" WAS NOT checked.
View 19 Replies View RelatedOk on my new PC,,OS is windows xp..I works fine..connect to pppoe and can surf internet perfectly.But on my old pc,,it can only succesfully connect to wan miniport pppoe but cant surf the internet..its OS is Windows Vista home Prem.The old pc was my first pc(notebook) and last time I used it was on 2009..it was using Atheros AR8131 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller connection and I forgot what modem I used..but now I bought TP-link TD-W8901G and I use for ADSL connection.My new pc works fine because it was setup proffesionaly by my friend..it also still needs Atheros AR8131 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller connection to connect ADSL Wan Miniport PPPoE..but I repaired my old pc too late..and he didnt configured it..so I setup myself..all the PPPoE adsl connections.And so its succesfully connected to WAN miniport PPPoE..but I can surf the internet..The old pc also needs Atheros AR8131 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller connection for me to connect ADSL Wan Miniport PPPoE..but all that was succesfull.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having Inspiron N4010 for almost an year now. I have had many troubles with this but never with internet connectivity. Last week I saw myself not being able to be connected to internet through wireless or wired network while everybody else was connected and surfing. I just thought it to be a small problem and the problem seemed resolved that very day itself on its own.
But today this computer has simply failed to get connected. it does get connected, open a page or two and then again refuses to connect. On the problem diagnoses from network sharing center, it was showing that the websites are not responding, then it started showing that DNS server was not responding while all my setting are correctly configured. I pinged gateway and it responds but on pinging some website there is no response at all. It s a problem with my laptop only as everybody else are using internet very well. I am using internet through my WiFi enabled cell phone using the same connection and router that i use for my laptop. I need an urgent solutions as I have to meet some deadlines regarding assignments.
I have a windows vista computer and my internet works through a modem/router. Just a couple of days ago my internet stopped working but the modem connection would always say its on. I've also noticed that the firewall is off and when I try to turn it on, it won't let me. Also, before the internet stopped working .I uninstalled pc tools *because I already had malwarebytes* but I don't know if that has anything to do with the internet not working. I've already tried the basics.. like putting it on safe mode and changing modems but nothing has worked so far.

My wireless icon in the corner says Wireless Network connection connected and the strength is very good. I tried to let the computer obtain the ip address and the dns automatically and have put the numbers in manually. Neither has worked. The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite running Windows XP. The router is a Verizon Wireless Actiontec Ml1424-WR.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI connected EA6500 internet port to actiontec router provided by Verizon fios. I don't have any other way to connect as FIOS connection is coax to actiontec modem. I must take a drop from actiontec to internet port on EA6500.
With that said, I can't get EA6500 to work, it keeps saying no internet. The only way I can get it to work is when I set it to bridge mode. This makes my EA6500 a dumb switch/access point. I didn't spend $200 for a switch. I need to use advanced features offered by this router but I can't until this problem is fixed. I made sure I am running latest version of firmware (1.1.28.146856).
I have reset my fios router as well as ea6500 to factory defaults multiple times.
I am with BT Broadband and have not had any problems with connection for the 2 months since I have been connected except for a brief disconnection this afternoon do have a Homehub but it arrived after my connection day and I like my wired Netgear router so have carried on using that. Also worried if I can't get the Homehub working I might mess up the settings on the wired router too.Is it possible to view the Netgear Router setup and diagnostics page http://192.168.0.1/ when offline?I thought it was as I am sure I have done this in the past when I could not get connected to the internet. Everything is working fine now but when I lost internet connection this afternoon, I went to open http://192.168.0.1/, entered my password but the page would not open while offline. Connection came back and I am able to open the page as normal

I have all the correct wireless settings, IP address, etc. I have tried to connect by ethernet and then internet works fine. I have done a million different troubleshooting steps. I have other computers using the same router and they all work fine. The laptop that is not connecting is an Inspiron 1501 and it is windows Vista. My internet suport it must be in my Laptop.

After the login, default page should be "Home", but if activating "Anyconnect". it always goes to Anyconnect as a first page. If disabling "Anyconnect" using SSL VPN Customization Editor --> Portal --> Application, it always goes to the other one. Never get "Home" as a first page, can I set the first page manually?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI woke up this morning to find that I cannot surf the web anymore. I was able to last night just fine. My set up is this: Verizon Fios router(192.168.1.1)> Netgear gigabit switch> SMC router smcwbr14s-n3 (192.168.1.201) the Fios router is has a build in wireless but is in another building and i am not within range of it. I have a cat 5 cable that run between 2 house's... the cable comes into my house and into my switch then to my SMC router (smcwbr14s-n3 ) that is running in bridged mode to function as an AP. I can connect to a lan port on the switch or router and connect to the web (im currently in a lan port now.) Here's the thing, I can still connect to the wireless, it's just so slow (1Mbs -6Mbs)that i am unable to get anywhere... I do have security setup (WPA2) an im going to kill that to see if it resolves the issue... but it has been working fine with the current security setting for the last 5 months, so i dont really thing that is the issue.

Malwarebytes comes up with no infected files. I did a restore and the same problem. I did a recover! And same problem. I pulled up a Cmd window and run an ipconfig. I connect wireless to someones network (which of course i dont know who it is or how far it is from me) I connect to a Linksys unsecured network. I get good to very good (some times excellent connection from it) The name of my adapter is: Atheros AR5007EG wireless network adapter.Two days ago i was on the internet, and all of a sudden i Lost service ( usually when this happens i wait it out and it comes back)But it hasn't.So I'm checking through my settings and i noticed that im sending way more network packets than receiving. Last i checked it was around 40,000 sent and 5 received. So I wait and wait and wait and the most packets it would go up to is 90 while as sending is still in the thousands.It also says im successfully connected with good to very good connection status (but yet i cannot surf the web because i do not have enough network packets)
I tried different locations in my house (that didnt work)I uninstall and reinstalled my network adaptor (that didnt work)I turned off and on the wireless switch(that didn't work). Im wondering if this has something to do with my laptop or the other persons network? how can I increase the received network packets?
I cant surf the net on my Galaxy S2 through my home wifi connection but I can access files on my phone through Kies Air wirelessly from it. How do I fix this?

It has wireless built-in; however, I don't want to use it. Is it possible to use this modem and leave the wireless off? Or does the wireless automatically turn-on whenever the modem is on?
