I can be connected to the internet (i.e. surfing, emailing) and suddenly loose my connection. I can then ping sites but not be able to access via IE or Firefox. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium and Norton. I have had the problem on multiple networks. I have DSL at home and connect wireless to the network. When this occurs my wired machines still work fine.

I've confirmed that I am indeed connected to the internet (I know this because, for example, I have no problem at all downloading games via Steam). For some reason, though, when it comes to surfing the web using a browser it's as if I'm not connected (even Steam can't load the Store page, I can only download games via the Library).I moved an infection a week or two ago, and I suspect it altered something that is causing this issue. I did get some advice to open the browser and go to Tools>Internet Options>Connections>Lan Settings and make sure "Automatically detect settings" was checked, and "Use proxy server for your LAN" was not checked.I did this, and in fact "Use proxy server" WAS checked while Automatically detect settings" WAS NOT checked.

Ok on my new PC,,OS is windows xp..I works fine..connect to pppoe and can surf internet perfectly.But on my old pc,,it can only succesfully connect to wan miniport pppoe but cant surf the internet..its OS is Windows Vista home Prem.The old pc was my first pc(notebook) and last time I used it was on 2009..it was using Atheros AR8131 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller connection and I forgot what modem I used..but now I bought TP-link TD-W8901G and I use for ADSL connection.My new pc works fine because it was setup proffesionaly by my friend..it also still needs Atheros AR8131 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller connection to connect ADSL Wan Miniport PPPoE..but I repaired my old pc too late..and he didnt configured it..so I setup myself..all the PPPoE adsl connections.And so its succesfully connected to WAN miniport PPPoE..but I can surf the internet..The old pc also needs Atheros AR8131 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller connection for me to connect ADSL Wan Miniport PPPoE..but all that was succesfull.

I'am running Win7 64-bit and i have Belkin USB wireless adapter( Belkin surf N150) When i first bought the adapter it didnt connect to internet, so i though it is not working and i got it replaced. I got the same problem with the second one as well, and then i have changed the wireless mode on the device manager from: IEEE 802.11b/g/n to: IEEE 802.11b and eventually i have connected to internet without any errors, but in this mode the internet is unbelievably slow which is very slow when compared to another wireless mode where i have changed it from. So my question is why i can't connect to internet IEEE 802.11b/g/n in this mode? The weird thing is that some times it connects to internet with no error and dissconnects again in a short while. Also when the windows tries to repair it, i get this report:

I am having Inspiron N4010 for almost an year now. I have had many troubles with this but never with internet connectivity. Last week I saw myself not being able to be connected to internet through wireless or wired network while everybody else was connected and surfing. I just thought it to be a small problem and the problem seemed resolved that very day itself on its own.
But today this computer has simply failed to get connected. it does get connected, open a page or two and then again refuses to connect. On the problem diagnoses from network sharing center, it was showing that the websites are not responding, then it started showing that DNS server was not responding while all my setting are correctly configured. I pinged gateway and it responds but on pinging some website there is no response at all. It s a problem with my laptop only as everybody else are using internet very well. I am using internet through my WiFi enabled cell phone using the same connection and router that i use for my laptop. I need an urgent solutions as I have to meet some deadlines regarding assignments.
From My Router that connects to Cable modem i am unable to ping website 4.2.2.2I am able to ping all other websites fines.Same website i can ping from my pc and all other switches fine.Router has only 1 ACL thats for NAT.

My set up is this: Verizon Fios router(192.168.1.1)> Netgear gigabit switch> SMC router smcwbr14s-n3 (192.168.1.201) the Fios router is has a build in wireless but is in another building and i am not within range of it. I have a cat 5 cable that run between 2 house's... the cable comes into my house and into my switch then to my SMC router (smcwbr14s-n3 ) that is running in bridged mode to function as an AP. I can connect to a lan port on the switch or router and connect to the web (im currently in a lan port now.) Here's the thing, I can still connect to the wireless, it's just so slow (1Mbs -6Mbs)that i am unable to get anywhere... I do have security setup (WPA2) an im going to kill that to see if it resolves the issue... but it has been working fine with the current security setting for the last 5 months, so i dont really thing that is the issue.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI connected a Belkin Surf N300 Wireless N Modem-Router have been trying 2 weeks to get it to work wirelessly, The icon for Belkin bottom right side of screen says "Connected to the belkin router via ethernet cable, and if I click the icon for computer connection info it says "Unidentified network (Belkin) Acess: Local Only.) I can use the internet while I have the ethernet cable attached to computer and using wired broadband, but once I take out cable I lose all connection. Have been in touch with Belkin by phone for 4 hours, they replaced unit but still can't get the wireless internet, the wireless is turned on(WAN & Bluetooth are turned on)

Then its Blue Screen of Death and no joy. If I turn off the modem, the HTPC boots up perfectly normally. Turn the modem on and as soon as I try to recognise the home network, it crashes again.

The main problem is that when i am downloading with Newsbin Pro from the newsgroups the internet connection for browsing or E-mail is closed, while the download still continues. When i close Newsbin pro the sites which i choose (and were on hold) opens immediately. With my old router (WRT54G) i could download and surf at the same time without any problems. I already spoke with the support line of Linksys but he was saying it was a problem with my wireless adapter. I've tested it with a cable in my laptop and than the problem didn't occur.

Sometimes I'll lag up to 3k ms and by the time my ping is back to normal, the game is so behind it is messed up forever.I've looked online for days trying to find solutions, and trying all kinds of things. The problem started after i reinstalled windows xp (it actually started right after my power flickered after i reinstalled, but i think that may be coincidence. I'm not sure though.). I've reformatted since then, but the problem still persists.I think the problem might be WZC, but when I try stopping the program like other people have done, my wireless network disconnects pretty soon after. I've also tried just using the intel software, but that didn't work either. It was fine for a while last night after I changed to the intel software, but after maybe an hour or so it went back to lagging.I have Intel PROSet Wifi agn 5100 as my network card. I'm on a laptop. I also tried doing a ping test in command on my mom's laptop, and it never spiked like mine. Is my network card maybe just too old? I got the laptop almost 4 years ago.

On the Linksys E4200, the Internet wired connection side, I gave static IP address which is in the same network range as that of LAP2.When tried to ping from LAP1 to LAP2, ping doesnot happen. Any settings by which I can ping from LAP1 to LAP2.
I have a WRT54G that has worked fine for years, with some PCs hooked up with Ethernet and various other devices connected wirelessly. I came home this afternoon and nothing going through the router could connect to the internet. I've made no changes to anything recently.
I did troubleshooting with Comcast, and we determined that when their modem was hooked up directly to my computer then that computer could connect to the net. Problem solved as far as they are concerned--my router is busted. But I can still connect to the router, and enter its admin screen, and everything looks fine there. The computers on the router can all see each other. So the router is working.
Once I hooked it back up to the modem my computers all lost their internet, but the router does get an IP successfully from Comcast. And it even assigns IPs to my computers that are hooked up to it. It's just that for some reason they still cannot get past the router.I used the ping function in the router admin site and the router pinged Google no problem. My PCs can ping the router without difficulty. But the computers cannot ping Google.
I've tried every combination of power cycles and reboots you can name. I've tried duplicating the MAC address of the PC that connected to the internet onto my router. None of it has made any difference.
my TWC connection and I can surf the net everywhere but when he takes it to his home and connects through his DSL he can pull up Google and can even search through Google but he cannot go to yahoo.com or Aol.com. Malwarebytes comes up with no infected files. I did a restore and the same problem. I did a recover! And same problem. I pulled up a Cmd window and run an ipconfig. I am used to seeing a 192.168.x.x address but on his I get a 10,x,x,x number.

When I connect the computer to internet via ethernet the connection is stable. When I run a diagnostics on the wireless card all pass, except the internet IP ping. I get the following message:

I connect wireless to someones network (which of course i dont know who it is or how far it is from me) I connect to a Linksys unsecured network. I get good to very good (some times excellent connection from it) The name of my adapter is: Atheros AR5007EG wireless network adapter.Two days ago i was on the internet, and all of a sudden i Lost service ( usually when this happens i wait it out and it comes back)But it hasn't.So I'm checking through my settings and i noticed that im sending way more network packets than receiving. Last i checked it was around 40,000 sent and 5 received. So I wait and wait and wait and the most packets it would go up to is 90 while as sending is still in the thousands.It also says im successfully connected with good to very good connection status (but yet i cannot surf the web because i do not have enough network packets)
I tried different locations in my house (that didnt work)I uninstall and reinstalled my network adaptor (that didnt work)I turned off and on the wireless switch(that didn't work). Im wondering if this has something to do with my laptop or the other persons network? how can I increase the received network packets?
I set up my linksys wireless router as I have before. I am using Verizon PPOE DSL with modem in bridge mode I am online in that I receive email in outlook and can use IM.
