View 1 Replies View Relatedwireless networking in their home. Their home is built of bricks (inside walls and outside), so basically going about 10 feet around a wall will drop a wireless signal. One problem is that the router outside in the office has a separate network than the router inside of the house by the kitchen. They're both configured to use different SSIDs/encryption keys, etc, but they both are connected via ethernet cable. Problem is, moving from one side of the house, she has to switch her tablet/iPhone to the network being broadcasted by the first router, and then vice versa when going around the second wireless network.
Can I just simply configure the router inside as a wireless bridge and use the exact same SSID/encryption etc and have only one network show up regardless of which one she's closest to?I basically want to set up her network to where she just needs one wireless network, and no matter where she go in her house, she's connected to the same network (regardless of which router it's connected to), and still have internet access.
I have two wireless modem/routers - a Ugo Mach5 CN458 and a Swift 4G - in two branches of my company that are distance apart and i want to connect them together so that they can be on the same network and workers in both branches can communicate and share files.

I suppose it will not "simulate" a serial wan connection but, would it work as a router to router connection?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have a Linksys WRTU54G-TM that serves both as a hotspot and phone line (T-Mobile). But since it's a G, the radius doesn't cover the whole house. So instead of buying an antenna, we bought another router (Cisco Factory Refurbished Linksys E1200 Advanced Wireless-N).
So the question is: How do we connect both routers to one modem properly, the N-Wireless to be used when necessary?
Basically my sister, who lives in a flat attached to the side of my parents' house, wanted me to find a solution for her to get internet, as there is no signal from my parents' wireless down in the flat.Originally I tried an old belkin wireless range extender I had lying around but even then the signal was extremely weak and the connection was too slow. So, I decided I would get some powerline adapters. But, of course, my sister needs wireless, so I figured I would use the powerlines to connect a second wireless router to the existing one.And so begin my real problems. The thing is, it actually worked fine at first. I set up a new wireless network, and had the ethernet from the powerline running in to the WAN port of the second router. But, every few minutes or so the connection would just die suddenly and take a while to come back (the connection was still there, but the browser just gave DNS errors etc).So I did some googling and fount a lot of people saying that I had to A) plug it into one of the LAN ports, not WAN, and B) disable DHCP on the second router. However when I do this I simply cant load anything at all. I'm thinking maybe there's some additional setup regarding static IPs or something that I need to do when I disable DHCP?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just moved into an apartment where the internet is being provided to me via wifi (open). The landlord doesn't have a private network, he is with me. What I'm was curious about is if it is possible for me to use a second router to create a secured network for all my devices? My thought would look like this: ISP>Landlords Router>wireless>MyRouter. I know you can have private and public wifi but the two routers have to be connected. I haven't talked to him about the fact that he needs to secure his router mainly because we never cross paths.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've seen loads of people connecting 2 routers, but they're usually connecting the routers together (as in connecting 1 router to another, which is connected to both the internet and the PC) to boost the performance of the current router, or connect more devices. What seems to be hard to find is what I want to do.
The situation is, I have a Sky Broadband Router (a specialised Sagem router from Sky Broadband ISP) in the back room of my house, and it's wireless range can't reach the front room of my house (where I want to use my wireless laptop). Moving the router is not an option, so I purchased a Belkin 300N Router and plugged it into another phone socket at the front of the house (the phone line was originally just at the front of the house, but was extended to another socket at the back of the house, the one the Sky Router is connected to).
The router is working, but seems to be clashing with the Sky Router, it can't connect unless I turn the Sky Router off, and the Sky router always overrides the Belkin one. I've seen some posts about syncing routers when they're connected, but these aren't, they're just on the same phone line, how to stop them clashing?
I got told if I changed the IP address of the Belkin Router to one similar to the Sky one, and disabled DCHP it would work, but this just messed the Belkin Router up and I had to give it a factory reset!
I've got an Apple TV 2, and I currently connect it (wired, that standard being the future of wireless) to one of two routers:
1) my normal router (for UK Netflix);
2) my DD-WRT router with my VPN details (for US Netflix).
Currently, I switch between the two manually, by unplugging one cable and plugging in another. This is fine, but what I'd really like is a way to do this without constantly having to kneel down on the floor and fiddle with the increasingly Medusan tangle of cables I have somehow amassed (they breed, you know). As such, my question is: is there a cable/device that can do this for me? I envisage some sort of box with a hard switch that I could flick to change the connection from one router to another. I have scoured the Internet, but don't seem to be able to find one.
Have a Belkin F6D4230-4 Version 3, both times we have stayed here we have noticed the same issue, we can connect to the router, but after a while it throws everything offline, and then you will see the orange light on the front of the router flashing. I usually have to reboot the router to get it to come back online. I did check the firmware version and it is the latest version 3.0 something, but it did say it was the latest?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm tryig to put a computer into the DMZ and then access it from computers on the LAN using a local IP address. My reason for doing this is that I'd like my DMZ computer to be a locked down web server (just ports 80 and 443 open to the outside), but I need to be able to have more access to it from inside my LAN (e.g. I want to be able to SSH into it from the LAN).
Thus far I've been able to get a computer set up in the DMZ and can access the Internet from the DMZ computer. And I can access the DMZ computer from the LAN computers using the public address for the DMZ computer. But I can't access the DMZ computer from the LAN computers using a private address for the DMZ computer. see the attached file for a diagram of our current settings. A few descriptions:
- Verizon provides us with a number of static IP addresses, i.e. 71.123.123.10-12 (note these aren't actually the addresses, but representative).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am located in UK which uses PPoA for ADSL broadband. I use a DrayTek Vigor120 ADSL2 Modem to act as an ADSL bridge and PPoA to PPPoE converter. This passes the ADSL authentication requirement (and subsequent single static IP address) to the Cisco Small Business RV180W sitting behind the Draytek. However, the RV180 (Firmware Version 1.0.0.30) cannot form the PPPoE connection. I have tested the modem, adsl username and password by creating a PPPoE interface on my computer and connecting this directly to the Draytek modem. The computer receives the expected IP address and I can ping remote public IPs. I have entered the username and password into the PPPoE profile,
Authentication type: CHAP (confirmed by ISP but I have also tried all other options just in case).
Connection Type: Keep Connected.
MTU Size: 1400 (also tried default, which worked OK on computer interface).
MAC Address Source: Use Default (I have successfully used combined modem/router so a "fixed" MAC address is not required).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two dir655 routers that are connected. The second router is not setup as a wireless access point, but I am open to that if it will work. The second one is going to serve as a public wifi in a business, with a separate SSID. The first one is going to handle the local business network, with its NAS and printers. How would I prevent the public wifi from accessing the first router?
I have tried the guest wifi partition setting, however it still allows access to the lan devices on the first router. It does partition with the second router properly though, but thats not worth anything to me cause there are no lan devices on the 2nd router.
Would it work right if I turn the 2nd router into a access point, disable the dhcp server, and set it up with the guest wifi partition?
