Connecting Pcs With RealVNC On Windows 7?
Jun 18, 2012
I am just trying out RealVNC on my Windows 7 based PC's on my network. At the moment I have Avast AV on one of the PC's and non on the other (yet)I have the IP's of both PCs and when I start up the RealVNC Viewer I input them but it cannot connect for some reason. It comes to a stage where it asks me for the username and password, I am guessing this is the username and password of the PC I am wanting to connect to?

I am trying to enable access to use RealVNC on our Cisco ASA 5505 without using VPN. RealVNC uses port 5900. Users should be able to vnc to 99.23.119.78 and reach our internal server 192.168.1.4. So far they are receiving connection refused.

We've had an old netbeui network set up for a while now but recently switched over to TCP/IP so my computer (running Windows 7 x64) could connect. The other computers on the network are running Windows 2000 and XP.All the older computers are working, but I still can't get mine to connect. It shows up as "Unidentified Network: Public Network"I really don't know where to go from here. I don't know if it should just pop up automatically or if I am supposed to configure it somehow.

I have an HP Pavilion desktop computer running Windows XP Home Edition. It used to never get internet wirelessly for some reason until one day i played around with it. I don't remember how but I got it to go online and it worked ever since. Just recently i have moved from my previous home and have finished setting up both of our computers. The Vista (the one i am using to write this) is an Ethernet connection and is having no problem connecting to the internet. Although, the XP for some reason will not connect to the internet. The adapter will find the network but when i type in the WPA2 it tries to connect but i think it times out or something. I have tried several solutions and none have worked. My father has a Toshiba laptop and he is currently having no issue with connectiong wirelessly to the internet. Our old verizon router stopped working when we attempted to set it up after the move, so verizon came and istalled a new one. It is secured with a WPA2 code whereas our older one was secured with a WEP code. I think it might be a problem with either the router or the wireless adapter itself (which is a Linksys Wireless-B Network Adapter). Also, when i logged into my router manager thing, I noticed that under the network, it said the XP was an inactive Ethernet Connection and not Wireless.
Here are some of the XP's specs:
Hewlett-Packard Pavilion
Intel[R] Pentium[R]
4 CPU
3.40 GHz
0.99 Gb of Ram

My laptop ( A Samsung NP550P5C-S02AU running windows 7 home premium) is not connecting to the modem (which is a D-link DSL-2740B-F1) For the past few weeks I have been able to fix this by resetting the modem/restarting the laptop and I also did a full restore on the laptop as well as completely reset the modem and updated the firmware. I've also tried two different wireless security settings, WPA and WPA2 neither of which have fixed the problem (though surprisingly it did work for a few days when changing over to to WPA). For the past couple of days the laptop has not been able to connect to the internet apart from a few times where the connection lasted 2-5 minutes. We have multiple computers and portable devices in the house all of which don't seem to have any issue connecting to the internet.

I have a problem with my HP550 laptop. I've installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 yesterday (previously I used x32), and everything went fine but whenever I connect my computer to the internet (through wireless connection), I can't move a thing. The computer stuck and everything is very, very slow. I can't open any folder, the taskbar doesn't work too. I think I've installed all the drivers needed. cannot connect to internet also.

I can only connect to the development server when I am logged into the VPN (Cisco VPN)I do most of my work on my desktop, which is running XP sp3. While logged into the vpn there, I can reach the SVN and FTP servers fine, but I cannot connect to the development website to view anything.I also have a laptop that is running windows 7. When I connect to VPN on that, I can connect to the website just fine. It is all from within my house so using the same router / cable modem / internet service. Both have installed the latest Cisco VPN softare, and use the same profile to connect. The differences are, windows 7 vs Windows XP. Windows 7 is running Microsoft Security Essentials and XP is running Comodo.
However, even when I turn off Comodo on XP I still can't connect to the website. (Just FYI, I also have XP as dual boot on the laptop and tried connecting from it but no go). I am getting absolutely no assistance from the company I am working on, so really can't ask them anything, I guess it is something I have to figure out myself. But it is frustrating me. I prefer to work on my desktop and it is set up in with all my development tools etc in a nice environment, where the laptop is noisy and slow and not a preferred work place.

My laptop (Windows 7) has problems connecting the the wireless network at my school. I can connect fine at home. When I get to school, my laptop picks up the internet - there is internet connection/wireless. But I cannot access the internet after I open the web browser. As a school policy, as soon as the browser is open, it is directed automatically to a "Web Authentication" page. But my laptop does not allow it to connect to that page.
I asked the IT technician at school and he said that there is a problem with the DNS connecting automatically. He changed the settings to do so, but when he opens the network protocol again, the DNS is changed back to a preferred DNS number and it will not allow me to automatically pick up the DNS when I am at school. (Once again, it works fine at home).

I had to upgrade my 2Wire router for ATT because it kept shutting down by itself. I received a Westell 7500 today and sucessfully added my laptop, two iPhones and XBOX onto the network. Laptop was hooked through ethernet cord for original setup, but then sucessfully connected to wifi. XBOX is hardwired in with port forwarding and open NAT. I have a desktop in another room that I would like to connect to Westell's network, but cannot get it to work. It used to connect to the 2Wire wirelessly, but will not connect to the Westell. It runs Windows XP. Trying to get an answer here, before I call ATT. It recognizes the wireless network, but will not connect.

I was recently given a Dell XPS 600 computer as a hand-me-down and wished to update it to Windows 8. It was previously running XP Service Pack 3, 32-bit. The installation went well, but my network and audio drivers were wiped out. I've been doing some research and searching and found the page with the drivers that I need. As long as I can connect to the internet I know the rest of the issues can be easily fixed. url...
'm not seeing any drivers under Vista for the network card. Is there any other way to diagnose this? Remember, I can't connect to the internet on the problem machine. I've heard that XP drivers are not compatible w/ Windows 8...although I've heard mention of Comparability Mode.

I am trying to connect my laptop running windows 7 to an airport express so I can stream music to my hi-fi.I've tried a number of different things, none of which have been successful.I've tried resetting the device before each attempt to connect it and I've also ensured that the driver for my computer's Wi-Fi (Intel (R) Wi-Fi link 5100 AGN) and the firmware for my router (Linksys E2000) are up to date. The apple airport utility program is also up to date. I also saw this webpage:Sharing my Win 7 PC with Apple Airport Extreme and wireless network. - Microsoft Answers And, all these settings were correct already.I also took the device back to the shop where it was tested and found to be working correctly.
Just plugging in my airport express - Opening the airport utility program, my airport express is recognized straight away. It is highlighted in the left-hand pane and I click on continue. I then get a message asking if I want to switch networks and it says that this is required in order to set it up. I click OK to continue. After a window appears saying that it is detecting apple wireless devices, I get error message number 4 saying that an error occurred while trying to access the network. It then asks me to check to make sure my network is valid.Using ‘configure other under the file tab - The airport express is still recognized in the left-hand pane but I click on configure other. A window appears asking for the I.P. address and a password. I enter the default I.P. address (10.0.1.1) and the default password (public) for the airport express. I then get error 6753 (an error occurred while trying to access the apple wireless device. Make sure your network connection is valid and try again)however, my computer still recognizes the airport express in the list of available wireless networks. I therefore click on it and connect to it. I then try to enter the details (under configure other again). I then get through to the configure apple wireless device screen in which I can input the details of my network details, etc. I enter the details and make sure that they match my routers settings (I have even tried this with no security settings on my router). I then click on update. The computer automatically reverts back to my network and it seems like everything is working. The green light even appears on my airport express. However, I then get a message stating: Airport utility was unable to find your wireless Airport device after restarting.Switching off the wireless network and connecting the Airport express to the computer with an Ethernet cable - The device is also recognized here and I can enter all the details. Before updating I turn on my wireless network so it can make a connection. The green light shows on the airport express but i again get the message that: Airport utility was unable to find your wireless Airport device after restarting.

I've had for several years very good experience with the WRT54GL. Based on that experience I upgraded to a e4200.But so far it's not living up to my expectations (media server not probably working with external harddisk, no advanced logging of incoming/outgoing traffic, connection problems) and I'm getting pretty frustrated with it.Problem right now is that one of my laptops with Windows 7 is often not connecting correctly to the wireless network of the e4200. It's giving a "unidentified network" error. Rebooting computer and router is not working. The computer is (always) reliable connecting to another wireless network in my home. It seems the DHCP is not working properly?

When I use QuickVPN under XP, I connect to my RVS4000 without problems. When I switch to new computer running Windows 7 and V4.2.1 QuickVPN I can get all the way to Verifying Network. Then I get the message that: "The remote gateway is not responding. Do you want to wait?" - repeatedly. The icon in the tool bar remains with a red slash and I am unable to ping devices on the lan side of the router. However, when I check the VPN Summary on the router, I see that it thinks I'm connected. When I check the VPN log I see that I am not:
Oct 12 10:27:53 - Configuration changed!
Oct 12 10:28:33 - Configuration changed!
Oct 12 10:28:34 - [VPN Log]: added connection description "ValR_rw_rw"
[Code]....
I've disabled MS Security Essentials and made sure the Firewall is on. IPSec Policy Agent and IKE and AuthIP IPSec Keying Modules services are both started. I've created a rule to allow QuickVPN throught the firwall in and out and a rule to let traffic on 443 and 60443 UDP and TCP through the Firewall.

I'am having problems when connecting to the internet. I'am running Win7 64-bit and i have Belkin USB wireless adapter( Belkin surf N150) When i first bought the adapter it didnt connect to internet, so i though it is not working and i got it replaced. I got the same problem with the second one as well, and then i have changed the wireless mode on the device manager from: IEEE 802.11b/g/n to: IEEE 802.11b and eventually i have connected to internet without any errors, but in this mode the internet is unbelievably slow which is very slow when compared to another wireless mode where i have changed it from. So my question is why i can't connect to internet IEEE 802.11b/g/n in this mode? The weird thing is that some times it connects to internet with no error and dissconnects again in a short while. Also when the windows tries to repair it, i get this report:
Windows Network Diagnostics Publisher details

I have just purchased a new EA3500 router and have fairly painlessly managed to get my desktop (running Windows XP), my lap top (running Windows 7), ipads 1 and 2 and blackberry all to connect to the wireless hub. I even have it talking to a WD 1T external hard drive.
BUT try as I might I can't get an old sony vaio running windows 2000 professional to connect to the internet. It talkes to the box and even allows the lap top to hop on as a guest but it goes through to a guest sign on web page and no matter what combination of passwords (i am sure i have the write guest sign on) it just refuses to actually connect. I never had a problem connection to our previous wireles router.
