D-Link DIR-601 :: Intel Pro / Wireless 2200BG Will Not Connect
Jan 21, 2012
My RIM Playbook will connect to the DIR-601. My HP Laptop with the Intel WiFi 5300 AGN will connect to it.
However the Acer Aspire 1640 with the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG will not.
SYMPTOMS: The system can see the network SSID, even seems to pick up the correct encryption (AES or TKIP) and also whether I've configured it for B or G modes. However when I attempt to connect to the network, the system prompts for the key, then pretends like it never did. A second attempt prompts for the key, and attempts to connect, but fails, simply saying "Cannot connect."
SOFTWARE: This laptop is running Windows XP Home Edition SP3. I've tried connecting using the Intel client PROSET software (the newest version, just downloaded) as well as the native Windows client. THE EXACT SAME BEHAVIOUR OCCURS, leading me to believe it's not a software issue.
HARDWARE: This is a D-Link DIR-601 at Hardware Version B1 and Firmware Version 2.00NA
I have the router set to WPA-Personal, WPA2 Only, TKIP (have tried it on AES too), G only (have also tried B only). The router has already been hard reset and I started over from scratch. I've also ensured I have the latest drivers for the wifi adapter.
Other laptops, tablets, and even phones can connect to the router with no issue.
Seems like this is an incompatibility with this particular Intel WiFi adapter, but cannot find any official list of incompatible hardware I can use to confirm.
Would changing the software to DD-WRT work in this case, do you think? Or is this more likely to be a hardware thing?

I installed an Intel 4965AGN into my Dell Inspiron (running Windows 7) to connect with 802.11n to my D-Link DIR-655. It refuses to connect in N mode, it will only connect in G mode. I have tried everything I could find online. I set security to WPA2-AES, and even tried with no security with no luck whatsoever. Before the 4965AGN i had an Intel 5300 which had the same problem, but I returned it because I thought it was a problem with compatibility with my Dell. Apparently something else is the culprit. What could I be over-looking?

I recently built a new computer with an Intel DP55WB motherboard which contains the 8257DC Gigabit controller. I am running Windows 7 64-bit with the latest Intel drivers. I have noticed that when the new computer is on the network, the wireless recycles and then completely fails. I thought the DIR-655 had died, but when I rebooted the router with the computer turned off, the wireless came back up. I checked the router logs, and multiple wireless restarts are clearly indicated. After about a dozen wireless restarts, the wireless turns off. I am running firmware 1.20 (I haven't seen any reason to upgrade until now).

I have an HP laptop running Windows XP almost five years old which contains an Intel Pro Wireless 3945ABG network device. It connects fine with my router WiFi running off DSL. I recently bought an iPhone 4 and set it up as a personal hotspot. I've been able to connect a friend's Macbook to it. But even though my HP laptop sees the iPhone network, when I try to connect to it I get "Unable to connect to this network. It may be out of range." I've downloaded the current update for the wireless device.

Just recently upgrade our 2 5508 controllers from 6.0.199.0 to 7.0.116.0. Since that upgrade, I have a handful (8 to 10) of wireless laptops that now refuse to associate to any access points. The thing these laptops all have in common is some variation of the Intel Wifi Link AGN cards. I have about 200 other clients out there working just fine.
I've tried everything under the sun that I can think of. Patches, drivers, the whole sh'bang.
Is there a known issue with 7.0.116.0 and these particular cards?

Since successfully restoring my laptop to factory settings I have been unable to connect using my Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection.Initially it worked, but after a while it stopped. I have completed several system restores, and the wireless connection works for a few days. On the last occasion (after installing windows updates) I received the dreaded blue screen and have been unable to connect.I am not sure if it is related to installing new windows updates as prior to restoring to factory settings I had no issues with my wireless connection.I am able to connect using the ethernet cable and I am currently able to connect using Pluscom wireless usb adapter.I am using the fujitsu siemens amilo pi 2515 notebook.netgear dg834g router?

I have verified that I am set to auto connect however my wireless does not do so upon start. I have to do so manually each time I use my computer. This is a new problem since installing the newest driver update because I could not connect at all or randomly. The update fixed the connection problem and I no longer have dropped connections and wifi connection back to normal. HOWEVER it has left my auto connect nonfunctional.

I know now that this is a Desktop motherboard, officially not supported for Windows Server operating systems, but I would still like to get it to work. I've confirmed that the motherboard network works in WinXP (Intel 82579V Gigabit) and typically the 32-bit Windows XP drivers work on Server 2003 as well. Several of the other drivers have installed just fine, but the network driver install package fails with "No Intel Adapters are present."
I am trying to install Windows Home Server v1 (based on Windows Server 2003) on this box and just want to get a basic network driver up and running. I've checked the BIOS config, and Device Manager shows a yellow question mark by "Ethernet Controller". The ID is:
PCIVEN_8086&DEV_1503&SUBSYS_20408086&REV_043&11583659&0&C8 but I don't really know what to do with that...

I've been having some issues lately where if I am copying large amounts of files two and from my NAS and thus saturating my gigabit ethernet, web browsing and internet streaming slows down which is a bit of a bummer. I figured I might fix this with link aggregation.
My switches (Procurve 1810G-24 in basement and 1810G-8 in office) both support 802.3ad Link Aggregation. It works beautifully to connect them together, as well as to connect my FreeNAS box to the switch as well.
how do I set it up to work with my Windows 7 box?
I can't find the options for 802.3ad in the windows menus anywhere, and googling has not led me to the answer yet...
My motherboard has two on board Intel gigabit ports (Intel 82574L and Intel 82579V). Is it possible to link these two, or do I need to pick up another Intel PRO PT dual port copper gigabit NIC like I have two of in my server?

I have a Intel Wifi Link 5100 AGN wireless card that isn't working properly. It will connect at first, then the connection is dropped. This started happening gradually, then became more and more frequent. I tried reformatting my computer, and this still is happening. I recently lost network connection using the built-in Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN. Stupidly, this happened while I was still under a Service Contract, but due to the holidays, I put it off and the contract expired the middle of December. I have a Studio 17/1745, I disconnected the internal WI-fi card and use a USB D-Link N and I now have WI-fi. Should I purchase a new internal WiFi card and if so which one.

I have the same issue and have been surfing the web for the solution for quite some time. Brand new Sony VAIO laptop with blu-ray has an Intel WiFi bgn 1000 wireless network adapter. It worked fine for couple of days, until i brought it to work. We use wireless connection in our office. Maximum 7 computers are connected at a time. All other 6 laptops connect to our network with no problems (all of them are on win7x64). Now, back to the problem. Wireless works at home and at work in the evening , when no one in the office. I've removed all 3rd party software, uninstalled Intel software. Am using clean driver from the Intel website. Tried different revisions of the driver - issue is still there. I've contacted VAIO support. This is not known issue to them. They offered standard actions (unisntalling the driver, power management options, enabling VAIO Smart Network). No updates of fixes on their support website. I have also checked in the event viewer. There is only one service being enabled and disabled constantly (TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper) - which is happening at the same time with wireless drop. There are about 5-8 drops per minute. Computer browser service disabled. Firewall disabled, antivirus disabled. We assume this could be an interference with mobile diveces. While now, we have disabled all wireless cards on all computers, switched off mobile phones. And... AXAXAXAXA!!! BSOD 0x00000018 (0x000....00, 0xFFFFFA800754A750, 0x00...02, 0xFC01020EFC01020B).

I've had this problem for a while. I'd only get a dial-up icon with a red cross after startup or diagnostics, and no wireless networks could be detected. So I installed the HP wireless assistant, and restarted the laptop. It started working fine. Today, the icon went yellow with limited access, so I ran troubleshooting. And the problem was back. The dial-up icon reappeared, and the wireless assistant showed the WLAN was disabled. I checked the device manager. The wifi link 5100 AGN had a yellow mark on it, and in properties tab, it said ' the device is not working '. I scanned for hardware changes, and the 5100 AGN disappeared ! I restarted my laptop, and now its nowhere to be seen. Even the wireless assistant now shows only 'Bluetooth' as a connection.
I have an HP HDX16 1140us laptop.

After searching a lot I found out that the Intel has stopped supporting 5100 for windows 8. Is there any way possible to use the same adapter with compatibility drivers on windows 8?? I have searched a lot but couldn't find much. All the new intel cards like "Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2200", n6300 are of 22nm while my processor is of 45nm. So will the newer card work with my processor.

So what I want to do right now is trying to connect to this network using my built-in adapter.I'm facing right now is that the driver of the adapter only searchs for a certain provider from the US (Clear). I'd like to subscribe to their service but I live in Argentina so that's not a valid option. So my question is if you know of a custom driver or some other way to search for my local wimax network.

I've been trying to setup a wireless ad hoc network so I can connect to the internet using my iPod Touch. My wireless adapter is Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection running the most up-to-date driver.
- Set it so Windows configures my wireless network settings
- Created a wireless ad hoc in Wireless Network Connection Properties
- Changed it so that network access is given to ad hoc networks only
- For my LAN connection under Internet Connection Sharing, "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection" is ticked I am able to connect to the network that I setup but when I try to connect to the internet it fails. When I check the Wi-Fi Networks setting on my iPod Touch it gives this information:
IP Address: 169.254.1.158.228
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Router: (blank)
DNS: (blank)
Search Domains: (blank)
Client ID: (blank)
I checked and that IP isn't my IP?

my Intel wireless card keeps losing the connection. Until a couple of weeks ago it would be fine for roughly the first 20 minutes then the connection would just completely drop out and the only way to get it back again is to go into the network and sharing centre, disable the network card and then reenable it. Most of the time this works, but again for only the first 20-30 minutes, then I have to do it again. Occasionally it works for for longer but that's a rare occasion. Now not only does it do this, but also, if I put my laptop into sleep, sometimes when I turn it back on again the card will not connect to the network and I have to do the same disable and enable process.[ODE]
