D-Link DIR-655 :: Log Access To Website
Jul 7, 2010Is there any way to log if a URL/website has been accessed? It seems that the "Access Control" section would do this, but I don't know how this works nor how to view the logs.

D-Link DIR-825 :: Blocking Access To Website?
Apr 20, 2013For the last week, I haven't been able to access my banking web site (Royal Bank in Canada). It doesn't matter which browser (FireFox, IE, Chrome) or computer (desktop, laptop) or even my cell (on WiFi).It must be the router (DIR-825, HW-B1, FW-2.07NA) since I can connect to the web site fine if I connect straight to the modem. (Also, if I turn off WiFi on my cell, I can connect to their web site but once I turn WiFi back on, it wont connect).I tried restoring to factory settings but that didn't work.I tried some of the suggestions here: http:[url].....
- Turn off ALL QoS or Disable Traffic Shaping. Advanced/QoS.
- Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
- Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking
- Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
- Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.
- Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking.
D-Link DIR-655 :: Website Filter / Access Control For Wireless Laptops
May 2, 2011I have several laptops at home that connect via wireless connection tot he DIR_655. Using the MAC address of those laptops, I want to prevent them from going to certain websites.Under 'Advanced" and "Website Filter", I addes several domain names (websudoku.com for example). I selected "DENY computersaccess to ONLY these sites". I then saved settings.I then went to "Access Control". I clicked on "Enable Access Control".I clicked on "Add Policy" to cdreate a new policy for one of the laptops.When I boot the laptop and go to one of the websites, it still allows me access. The URL/domain name is correct.

May 4, 2011I'm trying to set up a website filter on my DIR-601. I created a policy for 2 MAC addresses, with a schedule from 10AM-6PM, selected "Block some websites", and disabled logging. Under website filter, I added some entries, and selected "DENY computers access to ONLY these sites". When the policy is enabled, and I try to access one of the blocked websites, it gets blocked correctly ("The URL access was denied by administrator.") However, for all other websites, I get "server unexpectedly dropped the connection" errors, eg "Safari can�t open the page [URL] because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again." or in Chrome "No data received. Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data." This happens with ALL non-blocked websites. I'm using hardware version A1, firmware version 1.01NA.

Feb 20, 2013So recently i decided to try to play some rune scape since i played it through my childhood and wanted to try again, it went fine first 2 days, and after that i can't access the website at all. I've tried to ping it, and all that comes up is that request timed out, tried flush dns, restarting router/modem and even to change ip (which i did not succeed with).However i found this "solution" url... and reading the top comment, it says that "This problem occurs when viewing the same site over a router from more that one computer or application at the same time for a period of time." And i have done exactly that in the past days the site was working.

Apr 24, 2012I'm trying to reach [URL] and just keep getting a timed out message. I had this problem before once and gave up trying to solve it and then one day I came across a post at SWI in my google results and amazingly, I was able to access the site. I have no idea what was different on that particular day.
Same symptoms in Firefox and IE so I don't think its a browser issue.
Tried accessing the site through the IP address - same result.
Tried safe mode with networking - same result
I reset my router a few days ago because of another issue but I haven't reset it since this problem began. I have tried restting my router dns to opendns and also google public dns, neither of which has made any difference.
I got a friend to confirm that the site is not down, as I suspected. Tried to ping the site using this and the only 2 UK locations on the list said 100% packet loss - is this relevant?
Cannot Access Certain Website But Others Are Ok
Mar 17, 2012I'm having problem accessing myanimelist.net for months. I can access other websites except it. Some days I can access it and some days I cant. Just this morning I accessed it and then I returned during the afternoon and I can't access it anymore.

Can't Access Only One Website?
Dec 9, 2012For the last couple months, I have had a serious problem with connecting to one (and only one) website: cms.bsu.edu (Ball State University, 147.226.7.60). This occurs from my home using a broadband connection. I say serious because this is my work website and I am an online instructor. Not being able to access BSU creates a serious problem for me. Note that this is 1) only an intermittent problem (only happens every few weeks, lasts for a day to a couple days, typically), 2) occurs with any and all browsers that I have tried, 3) occurs cross-platform (Mac or Win), on multiple machines, 4) goes away when using a neighbor's wi-fi signal from my home, 5) goes away when using these same machines with any other IP address (at McDonald's, BSU, etc., etc., etc.)Tech support at my IP suggested that we download virus software and confirm that the system is not infected.
We did this, but let me call your attention to the fact that 1) this is occurring to ALL of our computers simultaneously -- even though they are running different operating systems and that 2) there are virtually no viruses that infect more than one OS. So, the likelihood that this is a virus is very, very, very small. Furthermore this is intermittent (not typical of viruses), and two goes away when using anything other than our Ninestar ISP IP. Hopefully, you are beginning to see a trend here.Ninestar tech support has also suggested that the problem might be with our wi-fi router. However, that is not the case, as this problem exists even when hard-wired directly through the Ethernet (no wi-fi).
As far as I can tell, that pretty much isolates this problem to two sources:ttp//:cms.bsu.edu (Ball State University) and my ISP (NineStar). We have contacted Ball State and they have had no other reports of this problem. Since they have thousands of connections made per hour from the same platforms (PC and Mac) running the same software, that makes it very unlikely that the problem lies with them. Today, with BSU still unaccessible, I decided that I should force a reboot on the entire Ethernet system at home.
There is a box in my garage that is designed to route the signal to my phones, my cable, and my internet router so I powered it down just in case. This didn't make a bit of difference. Ethernet still works fine for all sites except 147.226.7.60. I also pinged BSU. Timed out on both Mac and PC via direct Ethernet connectionFinally, I have used proxies to visit BSU, but since they don't handle encrypted signals, this doesn't really . No email, no Blackboard, pretty much only viewing their website is possible.

Oct 7, 2011I'm trying to have a website name: remote.test.com route to a local IP address but can't seem to get it working with this router. I don't want to use the windows hosts file as there are different Operating Systems that will connect and so routing though this D-Link is the only option. I have my wireless router connected to a separate network switch though it's WAN port where other computers sit as well as the target machine. I can use the internet as normal like this so things are working fine.

D-Link DIR-825 :: RevA1 Won't Connect To One Website
May 17, 2011For sure odd reason my DIR-825 won't connect to my website and just this one website. Every other site I go to works. And this problem is happening by WIRED and WIRELESS connections. On top of this the site is being blocked on my desktop, laptop, and my iPod Touch (WiFi). That's three devices!! Neither the router or my anti-virus (Avast Pro) are blocking the URL. Also, I know the site is not down since I can connect to it by using my neighbors open wireless network. Plus, I can pull up the website at work using the same laptop. So, I've reset the router, rebooted it, and even downgraded to 1.12NA firmware and now back to 1.13NA. I pinged the site in command prompt and all four requests timed out.

Mar 24, 2012I am able to stream audio from a website when i connect directly to my cable modem but when the router is connected it doesnt work. I have tried resetting the router, ping the website and get "request timed out"The firmware is up to date version 2.25 I have tried other computers that access the same network and they also cant stream the audio.I have also turned off my windows 7 firewall with no luck I can access other sites I visit and stream audio just fine so I wonder if the router may be blocking something on this website?Is there a way to allow an audio stream to come through that may be blocked by the router?

Apr 5, 2011I have a dir-655 a3 router that is blocking my website ip address.I could previously access this site until one day, without changing any router settings, it started blocking communication to my website. pings, tracerts, web browsers, everything simply times out. It resolves the IP address ok but doesn't go any further than that. I was on firmware 1.31 and have now upgraded to 1.35NA, but no luck. I have also tried resetting factory defaults to no avail. If i bypass the router and plug my computer straight into the modem, the site loads fine. so its definitely the router. I have tried this on a number of devices to make sure. It appears that for some reason the router is blocking that specific IP address as it is on a shared hosting and I can't access any other sites on the same IP address. Does the router check the IP address with any web service before returning the request?

Jan 17, 2011It seems (and should be) pretty straight forward; under ADVANCED go to WEBSITE FILTERING and enter in the URI, or partial URI, that you want blocked and make sure the drop-down menu is "DENY computer access to ONLY these websites". The only problem is, I can still get to all of them. I saw in another forum that you had to check "Enable Access Control" and go through a 6-step process where you specify machines - I truly hope that isn't the solution, because it's needlessly complicated for most users who only want to block ALL devices on their network from accessing certain sites. My Hardware Version is B1 and my Firmware version is 2.00NA.

Jul 10, 2012I can't seem to be able to access my personal website from any of my home devices: computer,2xlatop,android phone all give me the same message: "Cannot connect to thebianchifam.mercury-gaming.com" I've been trying to connect with Google Chrome, IE and Firefox yet none of them work on either of the devices. Sep 22, 2012I've gone through a variety of diagnostics and I honestly don't know what to think. It's not my computer, as I can access the site on this computer on a different network. It's likely not the whole of my LAN network either, because my kindle can access the site through it. I can always access it on this computer with a proxy as well. I can ping it fine, and tracert it equally as well.I've tried everything from socket fixes, DNS flushes, getting new WAN IP addresses. When I got a new WAN IP address the first time the site was accessible once, and then it stopped again after that. I can't clone the MAC address from the router, because it doesn't allow it.

Nov 5, 2012I was able to access my website [URL] just fine before I changed the cPanel password. Now I cannot even load the site or load the cPanel login page here: [URL] All I did was change the cPanel password. When I use another computer that is NOT on my network, I can connect to the site fine. I'm assuming that my network is blocking it for some reason after the cPanel password change. I tried the IP address in the address bar as well (still no go). Cannot "ping" the IP address either. I reset my modem and router as well. Cleared cache in browsers as well.

Jan 26, 2011We updated our business website in December and moved the hosting to our web designer's servers.Very shortly afterwards, we discovered that we could not view our own website, nor access our emails, which are hosted through our web domain name via cPanel.We run two Apple Macs through a Linksys router connected by two ethernet cables. We also have a Vonage internet phone connected to the network, which works either connected directly to the modem, or routed through the Linksys.We had this set up since March and had never had any problems until we had the new website. We don't know if its related, or just a coincidence.
We first went through a process of elimination:
First we connected the computers directly to the modem (one at a time, as obviously both can't connect directly) and we could access our emails and website absolutely fine. Not a solution though, as we need access on two machines.This led us to believe the problem was with the router. Both the Linksys and the Vonage device (box that the phone is plugged into, which is in turn connected to the internet) work as routers and we could view both router's home pages through their ip addresses.
We first called Vonage customer support, and no matter what they suggested in the nearly 2 hour call, nothing worked.We found a solution that suggested changing the MAC address of our router. After looking at the settings of the Vonage box, we couldn't work out how to change the MAC on this, so we changed the MAC of the Linksys instead - and it worked. We could view our emails and website again.However, plugging the Vonage box back in resulted in us losing access to our emails and website again. The set up solution worked for about a day before the same problems came back.
So we again unplugged the Vonage phone device and just ran our two Macs from the Linksys router - all fine, for a bit.A couple of days later the emails and website became inaccesible again. In desperation I changed the Mac address of the Linksys router and we were up and running again.
This solution worked for another day or so, until the old problems arose again.Now, whenever we reset the Mac address of the Linksys, it works, but emails and the website become inaccesible sometimes as soon as half an hour afterwards, sometimes longer, but however long we can gain access to the emails for, we constantly have to stop to reset the router, then restart everything.We now know that its nothing to do with the Vonage phone, so I'm discounting that from the equation now. Also, we've just tried running each of our computers in turn when plugged directly into the modem via an ethernet cable. Interestingly, one machine works fine, and can access the emails and our website, but the other machine now can't access the email or the website, but loads all other sites fine. Is this significant?
We've been reading up on our problems again, and it has been suggested that the issues are being caused by the website/email server blocking our ip address and that we can solve this issue by having a static ip address instead of the dynamic one that Virgin Media assigns. As we are on a home broadband service, we understand that this isn't possible though. Surely, if Virgin reassigns ip addresses every session, our ip would be constantly changing, therefore if we were blocked by the website server, wouldn't it be more likely to be blocking a static one, not one that is constantly changing? And also, how come one of our machines can access the emails etc when directly connected to the modem, but the other can't?
Other solutions proposed have been:
-Get a new router
-Move our website to a new server
-Move our emails to a new server and access our own website through a proxy.
Unable To Access Certain Website
Mar 11, 2012There is a website in .com domen and another one international .eu When I try to connect it keeps redirecting me beetwen those two (A loop basically) with Firefox it's like this: Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.I tried cleaning cash, enabling&disabling cookies, i also tried editing hosts file attaching name to ip, using anonymizer doesn't work either. And I repeated all the above with Internet Explorer. I've got Win7 sp1 and my ip isn't static/also I can ping the desirable site and it says it's ok.

Jun 26, 2012We're having problems access 'our own' externally hosted website with SBS 2003. I know this is commonly a DNS issue, but I cannot for the life of me get to the bottom of this. The site is hosted on a web host
Here are the facts:
- SBS 2003 w/single NIC. D-LINK DIR-655 router.
- DNS internally is handled by SBS, DNS forwarders set in order: 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220 (OpenDNS Servers)
- Trying to browse website from the SBS server or any other machine on network
- Gateway is router (192.168.1.1)
- Trying to access our own web site, hosted by a 3rd party. Trying both example.com and www.example.com - Both are simply redirected to search pages.
- Trying to get to OTHER websites hosted on this same IP also fail
Problem description:
1 - Website works fine outside this network (i.e., from my house, other sites)
2 - Pinging example.com resolves to correct IP and responses are received
3 - Nslookup resolves correct IP
4 - Trace resolves correct IP and completes successfully
Troubleshooting steps:
1 - ipconfig/flushdns
2 - Restarting DNS service on SBS 2003 server
3 - Adding host entry for the domain/IP
4 - Restarted SBS 2003 server
5 - Adding forward lookup zone for example.com > adding A record for www pointing to IP
D-Link DIR-615 :: Blocking Not One Specific Website But All Websites?
May 16, 2013In Setup > Parental Control it is possible to set rules attached to specific website URLs. I want to block access from 1am to 6am.
However these rules only apply to websites URL. Is there a way to apply a rule to ALL websites at once? I tried to enter "*" or "*.*" in website URL field but it doesn't work.
