I'm trying to have a website name: remote.test.com route to a local IP address but can't seem to get it working with this router. I don't want to use the windows hosts file as there are different Operating Systems that will connect and so routing though this D-Link is the only option. I have my wireless router connected to a separate network switch though it's WAN port where other computers sit as well as the target machine. I can use the internet as normal like this so things are working fine.

I'm trying to set up my new WR741ND router to replace the old WR541G with excctly the same cabling,ISP account etc. All seem to be working i.e. I get the PPPoE connection against the ISP and cat ping by name to Internet addresses from THE ROUTER.Also I get DHCP handing out addresses both to my desktop connection by Ethernet cable and to my laptop via Wifi. And the computers may ping the router and also connect its admin GUI.However, the computers stop at the router and can't go further. All they can go is to the router as if it doesn't route between LAN and WAN.With the 541 router everything works and as I said it has the same setup (very basic,no static routes or anything too smart).
I have recently set up a computer on my network to host a website. So i have done the basics and created a Dyndns account etc.Now I can view the website via this domain flyingant.dyndns.org/ on computers outside of the network and the pc that it is hosted on.But my problem is that I cannot view the website on any other computer on the network, it takes me to the routers login page.
I've just registered with NO-IP (free account), created a host, installed the client (in CentOS) and I want to see a website I'm running locally in that computer from another computer (via internet :). How do I access it?My host is "customtrack.no-ip.org "And in that unix box I've got a published website that I can access from any browser in the following URL: [URL]When I log in to from the browser from another computer I get the following error message:
Quote:The connection was reset- The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
How do I tell CentOS that I want to redirect that site I'm hosting locally [URL] to [URL]? I believe that's not done automatically. How do I configure the redirection?
I have to connect through VPN for work so that I can RDP into my remote development machine, but their internet speed is painfully slow. Is there any way I can route my general internet browsing traffic through my local connection, while still maintaining the VPN connection to my remote box?
i just upgraded from the E4200 to the EA6500. i have a few websites on one of my machines, which i can access from outside my network no problem, but when i try to access it from inside the network, firefox gives the message "the connection to the server was reset while the page was loading". i did not have this problem with the E4200.
i have a problem regarding multicast bidir redudency RP. as we know the redudency RP with bidir is created by the PHNTOM RP-
"The preferred method for providing Bidir rendezvous point redundancy can be designed using loopback networks with different mask length . This mechanism relies on unicast routing longest match route lookups to guaranteea consistent path to the rendezvous point"
in the new IOS image (I.E router 3945), when we create a loopback, the router will install L route (which is host /32 route). beacause of the /32 route the PHANTOM RP can not work properly.
=====================================R1_BACKUP_RP# interface Loopback2 description RP_address ip address X.X.200.1 255.255.255.0 ip pim sparse-mode R1_BACKUP_RP#sh ip route L x.x.200.1/32 is directly connected, GigabitEthernet0/1===================================== the x.x.200.1/32 address is the ip of the master RP but beacuse of that L route the pim can creat the shrade tree as it should.
Is there any way to log if a URL/website has been accessed? It seems that the "Access Control" section would do this, but I don't know how this works nor how to view the logs.
For sure odd reason my DIR-825 won't connect to my website and just this one website. Every other site I go to works. And this problem is happening by WIRED and WIRELESS connections. On top of this the site is being blocked on my desktop, laptop, and my iPod Touch (WiFi). That's three devices!! Neither the router or my anti-virus (Avast Pro) are blocking the URL. Also, I know the site is not down since I can connect to it by using my neighbors open wireless network. Plus, I can pull up the website at work using the same laptop. So, I've reset the router, rebooted it, and even downgraded to 1.12NA firmware and now back to 1.13NA. I pinged the site in command prompt and all four requests timed out.
I am able to stream audio from a website when i connect directly to my cable modem but when the router is connected it doesnt work. I have tried resetting the router, ping the website and get "request timed out"The firmware is up to date version 2.25 I have tried other computers that access the same network and they also cant stream the audio.I have also turned off my windows 7 firewall with no luck I can access other sites I visit and stream audio just fine so I wonder if the router may be blocking something on this website? Is there a way to allow an audio stream to come through that may be blocked by the router?
For the last week, I haven't been able to access my banking web site (Royal Bank in Canada). It doesn't matter which browser (FireFox, IE, Chrome) or computer (desktop, laptop) or even my cell (on WiFi).It must be the router (DIR-825, HW-B1, FW-2.07NA) since I can connect to the web site fine if I connect straight to the modem. (Also, if I turn off WiFi on my cell, I can connect to their web site but once I turn WiFi back on, it wont connect).I tried restoring to factory settings but that didn't work.I tried some of the suggestions here: http:[url].....
- Turn off ALL QoS or Disable Traffic Shaping. Advanced/QoS.
- Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
- Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking
- Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
- Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.
- Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking.
I have a DIR655 and I used to get to see my website from within my network. After a recent crash, I can now only see my website from outside my network.
I have a dir-655 a3 router that is blocking my website ip address.I could previously access this site until one day, without changing any router settings, it started blocking communication to my website. pings, tracerts, web browsers, everything simply times out. It resolves the IP address ok but doesn't go any further than that. I was on firmware 1.31 and have now upgraded to 1.35NA, but no luck. I have also tried resetting factory defaults to no avail. If i bypass the router and plug my computer straight into the modem, the site loads fine. so its definitely the router. I have tried this on a number of devices to make sure. It appears that for some reason the router is blocking that specific IP address as it is on a shared hosting and I can't access any other sites on the same IP address. Does the router check the IP address with any web service before returning the request?
It seems (and should be) pretty straight forward; under ADVANCED go to WEBSITE FILTERING and enter in the URI, or partial URI, that you want blocked and make sure the drop-down menu is "DENY computer access to ONLY these websites". The only problem is, I can still get to all of them. I saw in another forum that you had to check "Enable Access Control" and go through a 6-step process where you specify machines - I truly hope that isn't the solution, because it's needlessly complicated for most users who only want to block ALL devices on their network from accessing certain sites. My Hardware Version is B1 and my Firmware version is 2.00NA.
In Setup > Parental Control it is possible to set rules attached to specific website URLs. I want to block access from 1am to 6am.
However these rules only apply to websites URL. Is there a way to apply a rule to ALL websites at once? I tried to enter "*" or "*.*" in website URL field but it doesn't work.
Can't get to my Web site with router is connected to my computer and when I connect to my computer with out the router in-line I can connect. I tried the reset in the back but it didn't work.
I am timing out when attempting to connect to a particular website for all the computers on my network using my DIR-655. I checked my router's setting but I have no website filtering in place. Is there any other router setting which would cause one particular http address to always time out ? When I try to ping the web address it times out also, so it makes me think it is not the DNS server. Of course it could be my ISP, but why would a single web address time out always whereas my normal web surfing ?

There is a website that does not load when the router is in a certain setting. The website I tried to access was url...I have tried the different firmwares and settings and have narrowed it down to the AES encryption.Have tried the original 120328 firmware, works perfectly with all different settings. With the 120822 firmware, it works with all settings EXCEPT when AES is chosen as the encryption method, be it using WPA or WPA2 Personal.
I therefore pinpoint the AES encryption mode in the 120822 firmware to have a bug. I need to use 802.1n with AES, rather than TKIP.Can someone else using 120822, with AES encryption for wireless, verify that this is happening for them too?
l have a web-site and when l go on it it comes up with blank page internet explorer cant load this page.l have phone talk talk and they cant fix it.l have a d-link router, its only my own web-site l cant access all other web-sites l can access.
I ran the setup CD and can access my camera from inside my local network. When I try to access it from outside, I can access the camera fine but the video stream is black. I tried RTSP ports 554, 2080 and 5632 with no success (of course I port forwarded the dsl modem as well). My dsl modem is a westell 7500 and my ISP is frontier communications. I contacted their support tech and at first he ran me through the exact port forwarding sequence I had already done on the modem. He then went away for a while and came back to say that I need to upgrade to their fixed internet address service. I understand dynamic DNS and don't think this is an issue because I can contact the camera OK, I just don't get the video through (black screen). Another issue is that the camera is reporting PPPOE 'failed'. The support tech has given me two PPPOE user names and passwords but neither work. The support tech said that they do require PPPOE.
I'm getting an error during setup that says "You are unable to connect to the mydlink web site, and your camera could not be added to your mydlink account."
Forum member RDK graciously took the time to develop a tutorial for Setting up a user defined web page to show DLink DCS-930L/932L camera images using the DLink ActiveX control.
I had the website filter ON and it was working very well to block a few websites on a schedule. And after a few month, it doesn't work any more. While it is possible that I scewed up the setting , I have tried so many settings.
So:DIR655 fw 1.32NA,hw A3,"Enable access control" is on with the desktop MAC address (used copy this MAC)(I have also tried my laptop MAC),web site filter is set to "deny",the router time is set using NTP dlink server,
I have IIS running in a machine inside my network and I would like to make is visible to the world wide web.To do that, I created a website in the port 8787, which is accessible when the user types 192.168.0.126:8787 in the browser. Of course it works only when the user is inside my network.(IIS running over windows server 2008 OS)Now I want to make it visible to the WWW, so I created a rule to make a port forwarding to it:I went to: Advanced > Virtual Servers and created a rule with the given information:
enabled Name: website private ip: 192.168.0.126 protocol: both private port: 8787 public port: 8787 Schedule: always
This rule created automatically a firewall rule
Enabled Alow Source: WAN * Destination: LAN 192.168.0.126 Protocol: * Port range:8787 always
Unfortunately it isn't enough, if I type myPublicIp:8787 I can't access the website because I either get "connection reset" error or a timeout.I pluged my computer directly in my modem and it worked perfectly. To make a test, I tried to enable the router remote administration on the port 10001. It didn't work.ps: my wireless router is a dlink di-524, I am writing this in this forum because I couldn't find the one related to my router...
I have several laptops at home that connect via wireless connection tot he DIR_655. Using the MAC address of those laptops, I want to prevent them from going to certain websites.Under 'Advanced" and "Website Filter", I addes several domain names (websudoku.com for example). I selected "DENY computersaccess to ONLY these sites". I then saved settings.I then went to "Access Control". I clicked on "Enable Access Control".I clicked on "Add Policy" to cdreate a new policy for one of the laptops. When I boot the laptop and go to one of the websites, it still allows me access. The URL/domain name is correct.
I have a media player wired to my dir-655. I have a wrt300 on the same network to use for vpn. I live in Canada, and to use Netflix etc, from the US, I need to use the vpn.Is it possible to have the media player routed through the wrt300, rather than discovering all the IP addresses for Netflix etc and routing each one?
I'm trying to create a route from a VPN ip to the VPN server in my LAN. Anyhow, the DIR-655 does not let me create routing within the LAN (since only the WAN interface option is available).I have tried with the following firmwares: 1.11, 1.21, 1.30.
Region : UnitedKingdom Model : TD-W8961ND Hardware Version : V3 Firmware Version : 3.0.0 Build 120524 Rel.05221
I have just bought this ADSL router. Of course, the first thing I did was upgrade the firmware, or so I thought. It seems that the firmware on the TP website is older than the one which was pre-installed onto the router.Website Firmware: 3.0.0 Build 120524 Rel.05221 ------------- i.e. 24.May.2012 Release 05221.Pre-loaded Firmware on router: 3.0.0 Build 120808 Rel.28888 -------------- i.e. 8.August.2012 Release 28888.I have foolishly uploaded the older firmware to the router from the website. I wanted to see what version number showed in the Router's Firmware page so I did a ROM backup, thinking I could always reload the "current" firmware. As it turns out, the ROM file is just the user settings backup.
It is sad that TP-Link doesn't provide change logs. Where to find later firmwares, or even what the change to the firmware was?And when we can expect a new firmware to be uploaded to the website?
I'm trying to set up a website filter on my DIR-601. I created a policy for 2 MAC addresses, with a schedule from 10AM-6PM, selected "Block some websites", and disabled logging. Under website filter, I added some entries, and selected "DENY computers access to ONLY these sites". When the policy is enabled, and I try to access one of the blocked websites, it gets blocked correctly ("The URL access was denied by administrator.") However, for all other websites, I get "server unexpectedly dropped the connection" errors, eg "Safari cant open the page [URL] because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again." or in Chrome "No data received. Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data." This happens with ALL non-blocked websites. I'm using hardware version A1, firmware version 1.01NA.
Is it possible with the DIR-601 to have one of the IP's on the LAN route all traffic through a proxy server? I would like to have my Roku device (which I've setup as a static on the LAN side) to always connect though a proxy, while all my other devices connect to the internet normally.
