Can't get to my Web site with router is connected to my computer and when I connect to my computer with out the router in-line I can connect. I tried the reset in the back but it didn't work.
View 11 Repliesi put the dlink disk in the second computer to install the router and i followed the instructions and i connected the computer to number 2 on the router cause my other computer is connected to number 1. when i tried to sign onto the internet nothing happened and i got a message on the toolbar at the bottom of the screen saying something like local network cable unplugged.

I've tried on 3 different laptops both Mac and PC, along with PC desktop and my iPhone.What's weird is that I can access the website on my iPhone if I turn off wifi and use 3G - no problems. But once I'm on the wireless network again it just loads for 20-30 seconds before saying it can't connect to the server. The URL is which I also checked on down for everyone or just me - the results came back immediately saying it's just me!t this point I literally have no idea what to do... tried resetting the router, logging into the admin via 192.168.1.1 and couldn't find any firewalls or blocked URLs. I'm fairly knowledgeable with computers and OS' but networking I'm no savant.
View 6 Replies View RelatedEarlier today my modem died so I looked around and found an old modem (D-Link DSL-300T) lying around so I decided to use that one instead of purchasing a new one.It always worked great in the past, but when I tried it today I can only find a connection on this computer (garbage computer), the other 2 computers in my network can't connect to the internet, they can't even connect to the network at all.Oh and the router I'm using is a D-Link DIR-100. This computer is running windows XP, so is another one in the network and the one I want the connection to work on is running windows 7.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am timing out when attempting to connect to a particular website for all the computers on my network using my DIR-655. I checked my router's setting but I have no website filtering in place. Is there any other router setting which would cause one particular http address to always time out ? When I try to ping the web address it times out also, so it makes me think it is not the DNS server. Of course it could be my ISP, but why would a single web address time out always whereas my normal web surfing ?

There is a website that does not load when the router is in a certain setting. The website I tried to access was url...I have tried the different firmwares and settings and have narrowed it down to the AES encryption.Have tried the original 120328 firmware, works perfectly with all different settings.With the 120822 firmware, it works with all settings EXCEPT when AES is chosen as the encryption method, be it using WPA or WPA2 Personal.
I therefore pinpoint the AES encryption mode in the 120822 firmware to have a bug. I need to use 802.1n with AES, rather than TKIP.Can someone else using 120822, with AES encryption for wireless, verify that this is happening for them too?

Well i recently purchased a Linksys e2500 router,so i connect it to my modem and then to my PC, all by Ethernet cable(no wireless) as i want my pc connected by cable, i go through the set up CD and it finishes and says you are now connected to your router but..... not to the internet and it tells me to restart the modem with i have done, i have also tried power cycling modem, router and PC, but i still get the same old problem and when i go in network connections my local area connection says i am connected but it wont let me use the internet. also above when i have been trying to set up the router this "Internet Gateway" pops up in my network connections and it is disabled and whenever i try to enabled it it just says failed.

MY ISP is AT&T. I have their Westell DSL modem, with a bridged connection to a Linksys wireless router. The router is connected via ethernet to a dead computer: a 7 year-old Dell desktop that will boot up but shut down right away. I have been able to connect multiple laptops wirelessly to this network. I thought an ethernet connection was required in a home network such as mine? The cable has been plugged into a dead computer for several months and frankly I'd like to get rid of the desktop. What exactly is the ethernet requirement - just to be plugged into a port? Could I theoretically just yank the ethernet card out of the desktop and use it instead of the whole dead system?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to GS605 Netgear gigabyte switches on my network, and I use Cat 5e cables, so I can use the gigabit Ethernet.
One of my Windows PCs seems to have a very slow connection. I see an active 1K link on the switch for this port, and Windows reports that the link is running at 1 Gbps, but the computer takes 3-5 minutes to load Amazon.com and has ping times on the order of 700 ms.
I have another Windows 8 PC that works perfectly fine, and I have a Mac mini which is also connected to the switch and works fine.
If I take the Ethernet cable from the messed up computer and connect it directly to the router (not the switch), it is fast again. However, connected to the router, I'm back to 100 Mbps speeds, not gigabit speeds.ipconfig gives the following output:
-Hostname: my computer's hostname
-Node type: hybrid
-IP routing enabled: no
-WINS proxy enabled: no
-IP address: my computer's DHCP address
-MAC address: my computer's MAC address
-Default gateway: my router's IP
-DHCP server address: my router's address
-IPv6 address: something long (I'm not familiar with IPv6 addresses)
-Various tunneling adapters, which are all disabled
I have had other computers in the same port on the switch and they all work fine. I also plugged this computer into a different port and had the same problem. Netgear tech support wasn't useful.I actually have another switch of the same model, but when I replaced this one with that one, it had the same problem.
I confirmed gigabit speeds between two other computers, both connected to this switch, so it does work at those speeds. Those computers also have fast Internet.I don't have any clones MAC addresses in my network, and as for logs.... the only place I can think is the log file from the router. I didn't even think of that, the only other place would be event viewer within windows.This computer dual boots Windows 7 and Windows 8, and has these issues in both OSes.

Some other ones connect via the linkseys wireless router. All computers are able to connect to the Internet. The problem I have is that I will be setting up a home computer as a file server connected to the Motorola router. The network acts as though it is two meaning that computers on one router can't see computers on the other router. What steps should I take in order to make all computers accessible through both routers.When I type 192.168.1.1 from a computer on the Motorola router, I get nothing, when I type in my actual ip address, I get the Motorola router. When I type in 192.168.1.1 from a linkseys connected computer, I get access to the linkseys router.

Longstanding problem with Ethernet connected computer losing connectivity to E3200. Connectivity reestablished by powering down, cutting power to cable modem, computer, and E3200, and restarting. Other wireless connections (iphones, ipad, other dos -based laptops have no problems--never any loss of connectivity. Things I have done to date: removed Linksys E-series software and reloaded, updated drivers, changed all wiring to router, and checked IP addresses and they are different.

I can see the "lan computers" section under the "device info" section under "status". It lists computers that were connected yesterday but have been powered down for at least 12 hours? Renew'ing or releasing the router doesn't update the list.

So I have a DIR-825, I got from a family member as they didn't need it anymore. (Don't know if its under any warranty at all) I have a few different problems with it:
1. It doesn't install correctly. I insert the disc, the "Checking adapter enabled" finishes quickly and easy. Then the "Checking network status..." goes for about 30 seconds - 1 minutes and then I get the "Your new router does not appear to be connected properly." It gives the Follow these steps message of checking connections/resetting/etc, which I have done multiple times without success.
2. Despite the failed install, I DO get an internet connection. It starts to get weird though. I have 3 different connections currently connected to it with the following properties:
Modem>Computer (Wired) - 16 MB/Second
Modem>Router>Computer (Wired) - 3 MB/Second
Modem>Router>Laptop (Wireless) - <1 MB/Second
Modem>Router>iPhone (Wireless) - 13 MB/Second
I've tried looking through the options on my router but nothing looks like it will work .
had this same problem last year and by a fluke i was connected to the internet so my wireless printer could access web services but one of my computers connected to the router kept disconnecting from the internet so i had to change the settings now i want to try to get the router connected to the internet again. my wireless network has no internet access so i know the router isnt connected to the internet but i am online right now through the router. Also is there any way of stopping the other computer from disconnecting from the internet once i get the router connected to the internet? One more thing on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen where the wireless icon is theres a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in over it how do i get rid of that when i had the router connected to the internet last year the yellow triangle was gone. And right now on the network map its showing an x through the line going from the router to the internet which i know means theres no internet from the router.

After a few hiccups the router works with all of our computers, blackberry's, wireless printer and Ipod touch's however my Apple TV 1G will not connect to the network. The Apple TV will just give the error code -6 after the password for the network has been entered. I double checked that the password for the router is only WEP 10 hex digits and that it is correct have tried reseting the Apple TV to the factory settings and using the DHCP Reservation in the network settings of the router and manually configuring the TC/IP settings on the Apple TV (Not quite sure what I am doing with this though so put everything back). View 4 Replies View Relatedi recently bought my dir-615 to hook up with my tp- td 8816 modem. After setting it up and successfully working one day, the router randomly stopped sending a WiFi signal. I restarted it twice and it began to work once more. I decided to install dd wrt build 21061 for my E3 dir -615 router. Unfortunately, i could not get it to work. I have dsl internet and my isp uses PPPoE. I used the option for the set up and filled out the appropriate information, but it would not work and the internet light on the router would turn orange.
Unfortunately i decided to play around with this router at the wrong time and the people in my house needed it. I decided to quickly re flash it by going into the emergency room(holding reset button during router reset until orange button starts blinking). However when i select the official d link firmware, it simply will not change. The page is stuck loading on the d-link emergency room page with no progression whatsoever. I tried the process 3 times already.
For some reason, i can connect to the router through WiFi but not through cable. When i connect through WiFi i am on the dd wrt firmware. I don't think i can return the modem to the store since it is clearly on DD WRT firmware.
I'm either looking for a solution to re flashing back to stock firmware, or making the internet work on the dd wrt firmware. The internet light turns orange when i select PPPoE on the set up...
I'm trying to have a website name: remote.test.com route to a local IP address but can't seem to get it working with this router. I don't want to use the windows hosts file as there are different Operating Systems that will connect and so routing though this D-Link is the only option. I have my wireless router connected to a separate network switch though it's WAN port where other computers sit as well as the target machine. I can use the internet as normal like this so things are working fine.
