View 2 RepliesFor the last week, I haven't been able to access my banking web site (Royal Bank in Canada). It doesn't matter which browser (FireFox, IE, Chrome) or computer (desktop, laptop) or even my cell (on WiFi).It must be the router (DIR-825, HW-B1, FW-2.07NA) since I can connect to the web site fine if I connect straight to the modem. (Also, if I turn off WiFi on my cell, I can connect to their web site but once I turn WiFi back on, it wont connect).I tried restoring to factory settings but that didn't work.I tried some of the suggestions here: http:[url].....
- Turn off ALL QoS or Disable Traffic Shaping. Advanced/QoS.
- Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
- Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking
- Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
- Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.
- Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking.
I have a dir-655 a3 router that is blocking my website ip address.I could previously access this site until one day, without changing any router settings, it started blocking communication to my website. pings, tracerts, web browsers, everything simply times out. It resolves the IP address ok but doesn't go any further than that. I was on firmware 1.31 and have now upgraded to 1.35NA, but no luck. I have also tried resetting factory defaults to no avail. If i bypass the router and plug my computer straight into the modem, the site loads fine. so its definitely the router. I have tried this on a number of devices to make sure. It appears that for some reason the router is blocking that specific IP address as it is on a shared hosting and I can't access any other sites on the same IP address. Does the router check the IP address with any web service before returning the request?

However these rules only apply to websites URL. Is there a way to apply a rule to ALL websites at once? I tried to enter "*" or "*.*" in website URL field but it doesn't work.
I have an RV110W running firmware version 1.0.1.6 and I am trying to figure out how to enable website blocking in the Internet Access Policy screen. The Add Row button is grayed out in that section, as are the associated checkboxes.
Is there something else one needs to do to enable this feature?
If I set a name etc. at the top, and click save, it tells me "You must at least set a website blocking or PCs rule," so it is not the case that one has to save some information before continuing!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys E2500 wireless router. It seems to be blocking a website (evernote.com). I cannot access this site from any of the computers/ devices in our house, whether they be connected by ethernet or wireless. However, when i move to a different network, I can connect to this site immediately from exactly the devices that do not connect in our house.
How can I determine how/if the router is somehow blocking this site? I have reset the router and upgraded the firmware. Same problem persists. I see nothing in the router settings that would be blocking this site, and I have certainly done nothing intentional in the settings to block this. We used to be able to connect to this with no problems, but all of a sudden, we are blocked.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSetting up website blocking. I have set up access restrictions for selected times and days but I also want to set up access restrictions for webistes. Perhaps I'm just not clear on how this is supposed to work - I created a policy called 'Site' and then enter the URL in the website blocking area. The options under the 'Access Restrictions' area are either 'Allow' or 'Deny' - intuitively one would assume the selection should be 'Deny' since this policy is to block access to specific URL's. However, if I click 'Deny' and then save, then the URL's I just entered are cleared. However, if I select 'Allow' then I am essentially giving 24hour access every day to my computers (but blocking the URLs), which then seems to go against the access restrictions I set up for selected times and days. Perhaps these two policies are mutually exclusive but it does not seem clear that it is.

Ive entered the web addresses in the Website Blocking by URL Address boxes on the internet access policy page but it doesnt seem to work no matter how i do it.
Ive tried to deny internet access but that shuts of all internet access.
There is a way to block access to a website by password protecting it through my linksys router, which is one of thoe wrt54gs. I know I can completely block access of a website and can restrict the viewing hours of facebook at certain times through the router admin IP site but was wondering if it was possible to make it so you have to use a password to view said certain site. If there isn't is there any way maybe through a program or do I have to go through my ISP to see if they can do what I am asking for.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWAG320 allows website blocking, to enable this you can use a keyword. I would like to use this function to block anoying advert sites (in the same way I could with my Netgear DG834GT) - However the way this function has been implemented is less than ideal.
e.g. when a site is blocked by the router, the router does not return a response - this is great until that site forms only part of a web page that is permitted. What then happens is the web page takes forever to load as the responses have to timeout for the blocked components.
The way this function *should* have been implemented, is the router should return a blank response for each of the blocked sites. Netgear do this and it works a treat, they even put up a banner saying "Website blocked by Netgear".
This is such a simple feature, why has Cisco overlooked this and how do I go about raising a product enhancement ? I've been through the helpdesk which quite frankly is a farse, they asked me to reflash my firmware which surprisingly didn't resolve the issue - they then told me to send them the unit back because it must have a fault !?!? (and I have to pay for postage of course!) I explained the issue about 5 times, but the operator on the other end was just a script reader and I could not speak to an engineer - very poor.

Everything (almost) works: PC internet, laptops internet, email, etc. An application on my PC can't communicate through the router to the internet server now. I am sure it is a port/IP address issue. But I am unable to figure out a solution. I have already changed the IP (of the computer with Windows 7) to a static IP address. I guess now I need to get the port access done. I know the ports in question from calling the vendor. I just need to get the application through the router.

I've tried to visit URL or any of its' sister sites from my desktop, my laptop, my iTouch, even my ps3, I've also tried cross-browsing to no avail. I've checked the router page, apparently my Hardware Version is B1 and my Firmware Version is 2.00NA. Access Control is unchecked and there are no sites at all listed under Website Filter. I've also tried resetting using the reset-hole and also by pulling off the power chord. Also did a factory-reset from the router page, the problem persists despite all of that.Every other site works just fine, it's just my university site that refuses to load up. I've browsed the last 7-8 pages of this forum, this doesn't seem to be a common problem based on that little sample. So what gives exactly? I used to be able to visit those sites just fine prior to few days ago.

After i reset my d-link DSL-2640B router (would this initiate an update?) my x-box would not connect to the internet, There is no problem connecting to the router and the home network. Everything is talking to each other and everything else is connected to the internet including the TV. The router must just be blocking the x-box and only from yesterday. I checked ports that are talked about and i think i set up port triggering, but then noticed the firewall is disabled anyway.

I checked my router's setting but I have no website filtering in place. Is there any other router setting which would cause one particular http address to always time out ? When I try to ping the web address it times out also, so it makes me think it is not the DNS server. Of course it could be my ISP, but why would a single web address time out always whereas my normal web surfing ?

There is a website that does not load when the router is in a certain setting. The website I tried to access was url...I have tried the different firmwares and settings and have narrowed it down to the AES encryption.Have tried the original 120328 firmware, works perfectly with all different settings.With the 120822 firmware, it works with all settings EXCEPT when AES is chosen as the encryption method, be it using WPA or WPA2 Personal.
I therefore pinpoint the AES encryption mode in the 120822 firmware to have a bug. I need to use 802.1n with AES, rather than TKIP.Can someone else using 120822, with AES encryption for wireless, verify that this is happening for them too?

I wanted to see what version number showed in the Router's Firmware page so I did a ROM backup, thinking I could always reload the "current" firmware. As it turns out, the ROM file is just the user settings backup.

I want to setup an home network with a wireless router and use multiple switches for wired connections through out my home. I currently have an Airport extreme hooked up to a cable modem and a leviton gateway hooked up to the Airport. The 2 computers connected to the Leviton are on a windows 7 homegroup and share fine, but won't share or discover any wireless device connected to Airport. My main goal is to have a wireless/wired network with all computers sharing information with each other. I want 2-3 wired switches/gateways with a min of 2 devices connected to each, connected to my wireless router whiich is connected to cable modem.
