I periodically have my ISP's DNS go out. I actually prefer to use the default DNS they provide (and not hard-code it), but still, it occasionally goes-out for an hour from time-to-time.Is there a way on the DIR-825 to add a "backup" DNS (3rd DNS), that is fed to the PeeCees via DHCP, in addition to the 2 my ISP provides?

View 1 Replies View RelatedBasically we are having a Multicast setup. both A and B offices are being connected with STM-4 (622 Mbps) with IGP as OSPF. As of now everything is working well with this setup and no complaint .
Now since Primary link bandwidth is touching upto 622 Mbps we are planning to send some traffic to backup STM-4 link .
1) To send some unimportant (Traffic) Source IPs ( say 10.20.1.1 to 25 ) to backup link what would be best way to achieve it. Is it possible policy based routing ? does multicast support pbr?
2) When primary STM gets down and entire traffic shift to backup STM these IPs ( 10.20.1.1 to 25) should be given low priority on the backup link or traffic from these ips can be terminated.
We have 6 sites which are connected through E1 links.All sites connected from HQs.

The backup ISP gives us a dynamic address, however, when I enable the backup ISP's interface on the ASA, my vpn tunnels drop. As soon as I disable the backup interface, the tunnels come back up. I'm attempting to configure this across one of these tunnels, so obviously this is an issue, as is the fact that other people need the tunnels as well. I'm not sure what I did to make this happen, but I've been over the config many times and can't see anything different from the instructions in the link above.
I thought it might be trying to route traffic across the backup interface, but my primary interface is tracked and has SLA running on it, so I would assume it wouldn't roll over onto the backup interface.
I've got a 881 working with a 3G Card. Even the Cisco 7965 phone is working well off it. Looking for good doc for configuring the 3G interface as a backup link to Comcast?

I've been having some issues with my BT Broadband for a while, so decided to switch to a new router, a TP TD-W8960N, however setting up QOS isn't as easy as I had anticipated (I'm fairly new to this!).
My main issue is that we have a fairly limited broadband connection, but I need to backup work using backblaze. This is a pain because as soon as it starts to backup it eats what bandwidth we have. What I want to know is can I just limit the range of ip-addresses which they use for their backup?Is there a simpler auto-QOS approach I could use? The router is currently running the latest firmware that isn't in beta. Also - do these routers auto-update firmware?
My requirment is to drop the Internet traffic once the Cisco HWIC 3G backup link will become active(attached) .Because I should allow only Business Critical Data allow through that and others should drop. We have 2 dsl lines coming in and the modem is in bridge mode while the router handles the pppoe information. Each line is 6mb down and .5 mb up. It's ****, yes I know, but this is pretty decent for a small town in the country. To double our bandwidth, I put it in load balance mode. When load balance, I get anywhere from 9-12 down and .8 up. Here's where it gets tricky.
When anything is uploaded, the speed drops from 9-12 down and .8 up to about .2-.7 down and .2 up. I realize that we will lose some down and up speed but I wouldn't think it would be this drastic. Is this normal?When they upload to a specific https site (file is about 50mb), it never initiates the upload. If I switch it to Link Backup, it will upload fine. I still lose the speed but at least it does something. I've read that some https sites have issues with grabbing data from multiple IP's so I figured this is the case since it's a medical site that was probably developed in house. Is this true?Does protocol binding work in Load Balance mode? I binded all http and https traffic through WAN 2 interface however, when I do a speed test or check my external IP, it is not indicating the WAN 2 IP address. Is this a common issue in rv042's or is there a firmware update that solves all these issues?

I got two offices about 150KM from each other,i need to backup 10 to 20GB / machine,the data ranges from accounts package to doc files etc.i suggested a vpn, then backup from one side to the other and vice versa as this ensures backups are swapped over and are off site.Would you recommend this, or am i better off using a hosted backup service i pay for / GB?

Why does Cisco recommend a configuration of originate-only on the ASA with multiple peers configured and the answer-only to the other end? Shouldn't it work as Bi-Directional ?

If I use high values for the T3, what will happen when this link is down and the soft PVC reroutes across the T1? I would like to use percents (%) for the values, i.e. voice can use 25% of the link, then it would make more sense when using the backup T1 link.

I have a Domain Controller on windows 2003 advanced server. and I have roles and some configuration such as rights, user accounts, DHCP configuration, DNS server and etc on it.Some times windows needs to be reinstalled but after reinstalling,configuration of roles would be lost. I don't know how can I backup these settings? These will most likely be a VPN over an Internet service but might be another Ethernet type service, the medium shouldn't really matter I wouldn't think. What I am looking for input on is what is the best way to implement this? Would I just set costs so that the backup is only used when the primary goes down, or should I create new OSPF area for the backup links?
Currently the core switches that are also our routers are 3750G stacks running ip services. We are getting ready to install new firewalls at each location that will become the gateways for the vlans currently on the core switches to give us much more control over segmentation, and because of this I am thinking that it may make sense to then move the OSPF instance from the core to the firewalls. In the drawing I did not show the access layer switches off of the core, and the MOE circuits actually terminate into a 3550-12T switch before the core. I think I will actually eliminate those 3550-12T switches and go straight into the core. This is a current state drawing, so does not include the backup links I am planning.

But the backup to one of my drives does not want to perform giving the error : "the folder on the destination drive does not exist and can't be created"The folder does exist though, and what puzzles me is that running the backup manually or even copying files manually from the same server backup folders to the drive works perfectly, but when running the scheduled backup, it fails...and yes, the logon and authentication is set to "run as administrator" and the username and password is entered correctly.Like I said, the configs of the two drives are exactly the same, and the backup to the other drive works perfectly.I am using the Syncback free version, and support for the free version on the 2Brightsparks website is unavailable

View 1 Replies View RelatedPlatform: LMS 3.2.1 with RME 4.3.2 on Windows 2003.I'm having a problem with several devices that were backing up fine until this week - suddenly they aren't backing up their running configurations, but RME is fetching their startup configurations fine and VTP backups are fine. At first I thought it might be timeouts, so I used inline edit to incease the telnet timeout for a device to 180s. However, the job fails well within this time period (debug shows on i/o error?). My order of protocols is SSH, Telnet, TFTP. I took a stab in the dark that this suggested a database problem so I picked one at random and deleted it from DCR, and readded it and it worked. However, for the other 48 devices affected it did not.
I'm wondering if I need to do anything to the RME database to get things back to where they were? Do I need to reinitialize the RME database, and if I do that what do I lose? [code]
