How do I do a remote backup to an IP address? I am using NAT.I will be using port forwarding.I am using the windows "Add Network Location" wizard.I typed in my router's IP address, and it doesn't like it.I would like to run a backup by selecting the destination as this network location, if possible.

SO---am I able to do this-
1. connect the ext- HDD to PC running win 7 64 bit....create a folder called "win 7 64 bit" and then drag and drop filesand folders into that folder(or use windows backup..which i am unfamilar with)
2. then connect to PC running Vista 64 bit ..create a f�lder called "Vista 64 bit" and do as above....
3. Do the same for the laptop running win 7 32 bit
Am I right in assumming that because it's just data I can put info from different OS on to it without and conflicts when connecting it to different Pc's?
I have decided to set up a simple network at my home. I have got 2 PC's (one ground floor, one up staris), printer, TV and router.Now, my router has got only 4 sockets for RJ45 (no usb connection available). My target is to have one storage hard drive of 2TB for sharing pictures, files and automatic backup from PC's. Make of my router is D-link DIR-615. I want to have PC's connected by RJ45 for quick file transfer and TV as well to load movies from external/network hard drive so 3 of 4 ports are already used.I want to have my printer online in network all the time, so any PC can print at any time without connecting USB cable. Also I do not want to plug my printer into PC downstaris and share it in the network because if PC will be switched off, PC upstaris won't be able to print. So I want all my devices have connected to the router. Printer does not support ethernet interface as well (only usb connection).I've got a choice to buy an External Hard Drive (USB) or Network Hard Drive. I have choosen these two:

I thought I could by external hard drive because it is cheaper than network, and connect it together with my printer to this NAS and then NAS to router. Will I loose file transfer speed?
I have this idea of using my old computer (which is still pretty awesome) as a back up + production server. What this would entail would be that each person in my house has a dedicated hard drive that auto-syncs folders they've selected for backing up (not Memeo under any circumstances!). Then there will be a hard drive for me to work on web projects on. I'd like this computer to be very secure but if needed, I could show my work on the production drive to my boss.

The network problem I am having is with an XP computer that was able to access network shares on a Win 7 Pro (64-bit) computer yesterday, but cannot today. I tried repair steps that have worked for me in the past, but didn't today.
1. Rebooted.
2. Turned off Windows Firewall.
3. Re-ran the Network Setup Wizard and select turn on file and print sharing.
4. Changed IP configuration to choose NETBIOS over TCP/IP.
5. Uninstalled AV software.
Error Messages that I have been receiving:
1. When attempting to connect to a share on Win 7 PC: "Microsoft Windows Network: The specified server cannot perform the requested operation. The connection has not been restored."
2. When trying to view the computers in the workgroup: "Workgroup is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The specified server cannot perform the requested operation.
3. When using the command, "NET VIEW" from the command prompt: "System Error 58 has occurred.
4. Event Log: Browser error 8032. The browser service has failed to retrieve the backup list too many times on transport DeviceNetBT_Tcpip_{06ECF93A-1B89-4FF4-923E-F3302EF95FE1}. The backup browser is stopping.
I have 5505 license with default 10 user license, want to increment the remote vpn user to 50 user license;will it be on yearly basis.Another question, can we purchase security plus license for configuring the failover config ,as well support the 50 user license on the same..

What I would like to do, is Remote Desktop Control (I'll abbreviate that as RDC) these mac computers through the network from my Windows PC. I am aware that this is possible with either Google Chrome, or by checking an OSX setting that will allow for VNC applications to connect, but I would prefer it if there was some way to RDC these iMacs from my Windows laptop without needing to change their settings or install software-something like how Mac-Mac RDC connections work, where I can just select a computer from the network, type a password, and go.

I realized as I was writing this that the reason i could not connect to my server computer via the Hamachi address was because my ipad is not connected to the Hamchi network. When i try to connect via the ip address i get from whatsmyip.org i simply get an error. I have absolutely no idea where to go from here, and I would really like to have remote access to my server computer from my ipad.

Example :
1921-------> Ip Generator 10.1.1.0 /24
2901-------> Ip Generate 10.1.1.0 /24
both generate same ip address, when the Master is lost, Slave could be Covered the LAN.
That is: that I have a slow general storage drive that is becoming full. A fast HDD for recording onto with fraps and for programs that I won't use with fraps. I then have an SSD as my main drive which gets VERY full VERY quickly. I then have another computer that has a pretty quick 1TB RAID 0 running and a gigabit network, the network being the bottleneck but still pretty damn quick (120MB/s which is plenty fast enough).
Now, what I intend to do is have my storage drive stay as is; my fraps drive to continue it's job, and then for my old computer to store my big programs to run off, things like games. Is it possible to do this as when I've tried it says I don't have permission even though I gave access to the whole HDD from the network. (I'm installing on this computer but changing to the mapped network drive for the install directory).
How do I setup remote login that would allow 3 or 4 people to login to the same computer. Each person would have their own Windows User Account name, with different privileges.I don't know what software could do this. The computer being connected to would be Windows 7, and there is no special network equipment besides a consumer router.his is a very small business and keeping costs under control is important.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently upgraded my router to a Belkin N750 DB and am having issues getting remote desktop connection working. Previously I had a Netgear router and it was working no problems at all.I have port forwarded (virtual server on Belkin) port 3389 TCP to the servers IP address.I can get Remote desktop connection to work when I am within my LAN by just typing the computers name.However when I try to connect via the IP address, as I would if I were away from home, then I get the message that says "remote desktop cannot connect for one of these reasons
1) remote access not enabled (it is because it worked before)
2) remote computer is turned off (no it isn't)
3) remote computer is no available" (yes it is cause can connect from LAN)
Turned off static IP for my server and let the router assign IP, and changed the IP address in the port forward, same, no connection.Double, triple checked my IP address, as this obviously changed when I plugged in the new router.Have updated to latest firmware for router and NIC.
I need a place to share files between a few other people that:
1. Is fast and easy, like sharing files on a local network with gigabit hardware. Why not do exactly that? (see next point)
2. Has a permanent address to access the files, as if it were hosted on a website. The reason for this is the software I will be using to point to these files does not use relative paths. If it did use relative paths, I was simply going to setup a shared dropbox with all the files, but alas, that does not work. I want this solution to be future proof, so that no matter how much I change my setup, the file paths that my software is looking at will always remain the same.
3. (optional, but preferred) Ability to automatically backup these files. Like an rsync with amazon S3 or something.I am guessing there is a simple and widely used solution to this, like an ftp setup, just not sure how it all works.

I am facing some issue in LAN network.I have connected one desktop( win 7) and another desktop (win xp) to the TP link router. Both the computers got ip address and able to share the internet. But both the computers are not in the same network. That is they cant PING each other. hence they are not visible to each other.
I am trying to connect my WDTV Live to my desktop PC, and I connect to the net through a wireless connection to my router. Because its in the other room, I can't connect my WDTV Live to the router without running cable along the floor. Having said that, its not far away from my desktop PC, so I'm trying to connect them directly via cable. I know that there are two IP addresses: The WAN IP which is what your IP address looks like while connecting to the internet. There is also an IP address assigned to you by your router. If both machines are on the same network, then I am able to make the client connect to the server by providing the Router-IP. But when they are on different networks, they do not connect even when i give the WAN IP. How exactly do I specify an address for a remote device ?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been using an ASA 5505 -- ASA 9.1(1) -- with an IPSec Remote Access VPN. Everything works properly, though I recently noticed that when my IPSec session is disconnected, I get the standard message ID 113019, but within that message the Peer IP address is incorrect. In fact, it isn't even close to my actual remote address. [code]
When I first researched the IP, I found it coming from China, which freaked me out. I changed settings, rolled back to 9.0(1), and nothing worked. Finally I rebooted, reconnected the VPN, and the IP changed. This time it was an address from RIPE NIC. I rebooted again, now an address from ARIN in the USA. One more reboot, now a random Comcast residential address.
Within that boot cycle, the peer address always stays the same. I've connected from different devices, different IPs, different ISPs - nothing matters. Additionally, there are no firewall logs for these IP addresses at all.
ASA Remote Access VPN peer addresses in disconnect message are incorrect and change at reboot.
Is the following sysntax correct in removing a remote access vpn address pool and inserting a new one on an ASA5510?

Now we have to connect an AP (local) in a remote office, connected to the WLC by a VPN Tunnel. The problem is that the AP in the remote office uses the NAT Address to connect to the WLC, so the traffic goes over the Internet, not trough the VPN Tunnel. On the controller I have the following setting:
AP Discovery - NAT IP Only ................. Disabled
On the AP:
AP Link Latency.................................. Disabled

I'm trying to achieve framed-ip-address/static ip address for some remote access vpn clients and ip allocation from pool dynamically for remaining remote access vpn clients. I've configured my asa [URL].
I'm using local database for user authentication. Remote users can connect and always gets IP address from pool only and never gets the framed-ip I configured for those particular users.
