How can I automatically delete old files? I need to keep only the last seven files.
I moved to Comcast internet yesterday (from 3Mbps DSL), and the E4200 seems to be working well (although somewhere along the way it decided to delete all the files on the NAS drive...an issue for another day). On my laptops and wired PCs I'm now seeing 15-20Mbps down, and 4Mbps up. However, when I connect with my iPhone 3GS, I only see about 7.5Mbps down, and 4Mbps up using online speedtests. I have tried messing with the router settings and resetting all the network settings on the iPhone but nothing changes. I know my iPhone can handle more, because I get 15Mbps down when I visit family (they have a Netgear N300). I can only conclude that my E4200 is the cause.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two ACS 5.2 running as primary and secondary instances respectively. When I try to delete a remote log target under System Administration > ... > Configuration > Log Configuration > Remote Log Targets I get the following error message...."The item you trying to delete is referenced by other items. You must remove all references to this item before it can be deleted".
I have searched the configuration within the web gui and was unable to find anything that reference the object that I'm trying to delete.
How can I remove the PIN code that's been configured in my computer. My computer shares in a home network that bumps everyone out whenever I go into the internet including the owner of the BELKIN network router to whom we are connected to the internet. I mistakenly connected into the network via the router's PIN Code resulting in my computer being configured and the rest of computers in the network being bumped out. Instead of just typing the passphrase/password I typed in the text box the PIN code for the Belkin router when it asked for the PIN code instead of just connecting into the internet without necessarily configuring my computer for the BELKIN router? how to remove the PIN code in my computer so that I do not bump everyone in the network.

So is there a way to allow everyone else on the server to access my local hard drives?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy parents bought a new computer today. My mom called me up today and asked me if I could transfer some stuff from the old computer to the new computer. I do not have a flash drive or an external hard drive, or jump drive.etc. So I was hoping I could just connect the two computers with an ethernet cable, and create a network.
Is this possible, or do you need additional equipment. I do not have a router, so if I create a network it has to be done with wires. So is it possible to create a network with nothing but an ethernet cable? Or is there another way I can get my moms i tunes transferred over?
I have a netbook or laptop or whatever those small computers are called which I use as a server (it just sits there with the lid closed all the time answering website requests). It generates logs but I absolutely hate laptops and can't stand them, not only is using a touchpad an experience from pure hell, but it's absolutely impossible to find buttons like home, end, page up, page down, so I can't manage to use it 5 seconds without wanting to smash it to powder.I know a lot about computers and programming but NOTHING about networking. Both the laptop or whatever it's called and my personal desktop PC are connected to the same router. Is there any way I can access the log folder on the server from my personal computer so I have a proper mouse and keyboard to work with?

When accessing the network drive I am connected to the Internet through wireless connection. When I connect to the Internet through Ethernet cable opening and saving documents is much quicker. Is there anyway I can make the remote access quicker when accessing it through a wireless connection?

However, I will soon have tenants in my house sharing my network ...so they can use my Wi-Fi to get on the internet.I need a solution to give them access to the internet without losing my own network sharing ability.I do not want them accessing my files.I have Windows XP home and a Dlink WBR-2310 router. As I see it, I need to either upgrade to a router with a Guest Zone/Access feature ...OR..upgrade to Windows 7(?) to give myself more networking options (i.e. file sharing where I select the users or set a password). Currently the XP permissions are too general.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI am trying to transfer files from my laptop to my desktop, but when I open the 'network' folder from the start menu to access the desktop from the laptop, the desktop computer is not shown. I ensured that the workgroup names are the same, all sharing is turned on on both computers in Network and Sharing Center, since it is a private network, I checked the router settings and nothing seems to be wrong. The desktop is running Windows Vista Business x86 and the laptop is running Windows 7 Home Premium x64, so there is no way to make a Homegroup connection. However, I can see the laptop computer from the desktop's network folder. I click on it to gain access, but I get an error message: "Network Error, Windows cannot access \****-PC, check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found." have checked all wiring, router settings, and nic card settings, have done a successful ping, even Network and Sharing Center, I have also checked sharing permissions and permission levels, I see nothing that could possibly affect the access of the computers.
The only thing I can think of is that when I click on the 'Network ID' button under the Computer Name tab in System Properties on the desktop, it asks join a domain or workgroup, it will not let me save the selection "This is a home computer; it's not part of a business network," that may or may not be the issue, because it will only remain on "This computer is part of a business network" probably because I am running Windows Vista Business.

WHS 2011 has always been strangely finicky and I have a new Win8 laptop, so i would like to take advantage of the new options in Essentials.that said, I was looking to access my data on the WHS 2011 system to back IT up, and all I see are a bunch of 4,194,304kb .dat files. I've been lucky in that I have never had to recover data from the server, so this has been an interesting issue. how does one access the backed up files on a WHS2011 computer, short of doing some kind of restore?

When I try to, I get an error message saying "Windows cannot access Laptop A".It then gives me the option to diagnose the problem (I'm using Vista on both laptops, by the way). When I click that, it gives me the error of "Cannot communicate with Laptop A. We pinged the remote host but did not receive a response".Laptop A is connected to the network according to it, it can access the internet fine and can access other laptops on the network fine. I have disabled the firewall, shared the folders appropriately, made sure they were both on the same workgroup (they are both on the default Vista WORKGROUP), and still nothing.

i'm trying to write a simple batch file to make my life easier. We have a few dozen Aix Boses that we telnet into and about 70 as400 Swift systems we telnet into. i was starting on a batch file like the one below where i could run it, type in the system and it log me over. What I want to add is for it to put in my user name. (if i could draw a password from a excel file that would be fantastic but id settle for just my user name). I have tried - l (username) at the end of telent and it didn't work. also tried -a. i keep getting the box with user name/password and there both blank. how i can get it to type in my user name?
here is my script.
@echo off
set /p name= What system are you logging into?
telnet %name%
i tried start script.vbs as another attempt using this info
Set cloner = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
cloner.run"cmd"
WScript.Sleep 500
cloner.SendKeys"telnet %name%"
cloner.SendKeys("{Enter}")

I have Symatec PCanywhere installed on both When i'm on the same connection (wireless internet).I can get it to work no problem. However when I try to remote in using a different internet connection it does not go through.
I've done some research and found out that instead of using the IP address it gives me (dynamically) [192.168.2.5] i need to aquire the WAN IP address from a website or through the router. As well as configuring virtual server through the router, and enable port forwarding in some way or another for specific ports.
That is: that I have a slow general storage drive that is becoming full. A fast HDD for recording onto with fraps and for programs that I won't use with fraps. I then have an SSD as my main drive which gets VERY full VERY quickly. I then have another computer that has a pretty quick 1TB RAID 0 running and a gigabit network, the network being the bottleneck but still pretty damn quick (120MB/s which is plenty fast enough).
Now, what I intend to do is have my storage drive stay as is; my fraps drive to continue it's job, and then for my old computer to store my big programs to run off, things like games. Is it possible to do this as when I've tried it says I don't have permission even though I gave access to the whole HDD from the network. (I'm installing on this computer but changing to the mapped network drive for the install directory).
