Accessing Files Through Remote Desktop?

Mar 18, 2011

I seem to be having a real hard time getting the hardware for my scanner to be networked and i am trying to think of some different ways to do it and i think this might work.So our server is off site and we all access the server via remote desktop on our individual computers. ie) there is one computer that we all access with our own computers. We need our scanner to send the files to the server so that anyone logged on to the server can access it.But our server is off site and we cant connect our scanner to it.But since we have many computers here, I was wondering if there would be a way to plug the scanner in to MY computer at the office, have the offsite computer use the same remote connection to access my computer so that everyone else logged on to the server can access the folder where the scans are sent to.I know that there are ways to make my local hard drive accessible while im logged on to the server. So is there a way to allow everyone else on the server to access my local hard drives?

Cisco VPN :: ASA 5505 / Accessing 1 Remote Desktop When Connected With VPN?

Apr 3, 2013

I have an ASA 5505 and have a problem where when I connect through VPN I can RDP into a server using its internal address but I cannot RDP to another server using its internal address. The one I can connect to has an IP of 192.168.2.10 and the one I cannot connect to has an IP of 192.168.2.11 on port 3390.Both rules are configured exactly the same except for the IP addresses and I cannot see why I cannot connect to this one server.I am also able to connect to my camera system with an IP 192.168.2.25 on port 37777 and able to ping any other device on the internal network.I've also tried pinging it and telneting to port 3390 with no success.

Here is the config.

ASA Version 8.4(4)1
!
!
interface Ethernet0/0
switchport access vlan 3
!
interface Ethernet0/1

I have mapped the attached hard drive to my EA4500 on my PC and can access folders and files on my LAN PC.  However, when I come in through the Internet via an iOS device, I can see folders but when I try to enter the folder, all I get is a message that displays "|Folder|Enter Into Folder|Select|.  There is no click-through capability other than "Return to Upper Folder", which takes me back to folders.

How To Transfer Files From Laptop To Desktop PC

Jan 20, 2013

I have a laptop PC with WiFi, so I download a bunch of stuff on here. Then I have my beast/monster desktop gaming PC with a kick-ass geforce gtx 650 Ti, and an i7 processor, etc etc.... The thing it DOESN'T have is WiFi, or any internet capabilities at all (until I get a WiFi card in it or something).I have some 4 GB movies in my laptop, and so far what I been doing to transfer those movies to my desktop PC is saving it in a USB memory stick from my laptop, then taking the memory stick to the desktop PC and saving it there. I have regular Ethernet cables, would that work? What do I need to do to transfer files from my laptop to my desktop PC more efficiently and fast?

Unable To Share The Files On Desktop With Netbook?

Mar 21, 2011

I have a small home network set up: desktop, wireless router, printer, netbook, two set-top boxes, visiting(!) laptops. Until recently, it worked fine, then two things happened.

1 - everything on the Internet went VERY slow and call to my ISP resulted in a new router.

2 - I also subscribed to McAfee Home Protect through my ISP rather than ther free AVG.

Since then, I have been unable to share the files on my desktop with my netbook; it can not see them on My Network Places.

Cisco VPN :: ASA 5505 / 5510 - VPN Client Accessing Remote LAN

Apr 2, 2012

Trying to figure out how to configure the VPN client side to access a remote LAN.

Lan A - 172.16.17.0 - ASA5505 8.2(3)
Lan B - 200.200.0.0 - ASA5510
Cisco Client - V5

At present there exist a VPN tunnel between LAN A and LAN B. The client has a VPN tunnel to LAN A to run software package X on the LAN A server. The client also needs to run software package Y which needs access to a database on LAN B.  The computers on LAN A have no problem using package Y since a VPN tunnel exist between LAN A and LAN B. How can I get the Client to also access LAN B on the same tunnel created when the client connects to LAN A? I can't seem to get packets that are directed to LAN B to cross the Client tunnel to A which would then hopefully move onto the LAN A/ LAN B tunnel.

Laptop Cannot Access Files From Desktop With External HD Connected

Apr 19, 2011

Recently my laptop, which is successfully connected to the wireless network, has failed to recognize shared folders on my desktop and the external hard drive connected to it. Laptop running 7, desktop running XP Pro. 2 days ago it was working fine. Yesterday it stopped working. I have made no changes that I can think of. All of the folders on the desktop and external drive that I want shared are set up for sharing. So, my question is, what do I need to do to again be able to read and write to these folders, especially the ones on the external hard drive. I believe the adjustment has to be made on the desktop, either in the network connections or the file sharing, but the laptop may need adjusted as well.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3600 Accessing Wireless Access Point From Remote Subnet

Mar 28, 2013

I recently installed a couple of Cisco Aironet 3600 Series Wireless Access Points at a remote site. While I was at the site everything seemed OK, The clients were able to get connected to the access points, the guest network worked fine, I could SSH into the access points, and I could ping them. The problem is when I went back to my home site I tried to SSH into the access points through an ASA IPSec VPN Tunnel and it couldn’t find it. When I try to ping the access points they “time out”. I can ping and connect all other addresses (via RDP, HTTP, etc..) on the same subnet which should rule out an access list problem. A couple of notes to be aware of:

The WAP’s have the Autonomous IOS installed (Version 15.2(2)JB) The WAP’s are connected to Dell PowerConnect 5724 (Not by choice.. We are a Cisco shop, these were already there and have plans this year to replace)

I can ping and SSH with Putty to the WAP’s from the local subnet I cannot ping or SSH from a remote subnet to the WAP’s. I can access all other IP’s and Computers from a remote subnet.

Remote Desktop Via Dual Lan?

Mar 8, 2013

We have a server which in addition to other services is used to stream live hi-def video from our building during special events. We use a software video/audio production mixer which works very well. But we now would like to make a change in the system. Is it possible/practical to use Remote Desktop via the second - as yet unused - LAN in our server. We really would like to put the operators in a different location where they have both video and in-person view of the event being streamed. But we don't want to use more bandwidth on the LAN...the production mixer handles a *lot* of uncompressed video and tends to be a bandwidth hog.

Connect To VPN On Remote System With Desktop?

Jan 15, 2012

We use Nortel VPN and the problem is that it's set so when you connect to it, you can only access company resources so no Internet. To mitigate that we use vmware and run Windows XP at the same time as our Windows 7 systems. I'd love to be able to use remote desktop though and connect to a system located elsewhere even another office computer and have that one on the VPN, but of course as soon you connect the remote desktop connection goes down with it.I'm just wondering if there's any ways around this. I'm assuming not, but I'm not sure how VPN fully works. Like if I had 2 network cards in the remote system, when I VPN in does it block connections from all network cards? Ideally I'd like to use something like Amazon Web Services since their Windows Server tier has the free option which is good, or will use another VPS type system running Windows Server.

Sharing :: Remote Desktop Control A Mac From A PC (No VNC)?

Feb 10, 2012

I have some iMacs that I manage for, in addition to my primary PC computers, such as my Toshiba Windows 7 laptop, which is what I am currently most concerned with. What I would like to do, is Remote Desktop Control (I'll abbreviate that as RDC) these mac computers through the network from my Windows PC. I am aware that this is possible with either Google Chrome, or by checking an OSX setting that will allow for VNC applications to connect, but I would prefer it if there was some way to RDC these iMacs from my Windows laptop without needing to change their settings or install software-something like how Mac-Mac RDC connections work, where I can just select a computer from the network, type a password, and go.
