I have a Dell Latitude E4200 laptop and this is connected to my home wireless wifi.
It will continuously loose connection for no reason. I have another laptop and this does not have any wireless issues, any problem with the wireless drivers on this model?
I am setting up a new E4200 modem, and have not been able to use the wired connection. The Windows 7 diagnositic on all three computers tells me "Local Area Connection, doesn't have a valid IP configuration."Model: E4200v1..I am using a new E4200 router, along with a new SE1500 5-port switch and a new SE2800 8-port switch.I am using a wired network that consists of two desktop computers, a laptop computer, a network printer, three Direct TV recorders, two Roku streaming video players, a BluRay player, and an XBox gaming console.Here is what I have done so far.
1- I can bypass the router to establish a direct wired connection to the cable modem. This works to access the internet. It establishes a new wired connection called Network 2.
2- I can access the internet using the wireless connection to the router. It shows a valid IPv4 address.
3- With all cables in place, all the lights are flashing on the router and on the computers.
4- I had changed cables and swapped cable ends.
5- Using the wireless connection, I can access the router home page (192.168.1.1). It shows valid IP addresses.
The problem is that my old Linksys BEFSR81 stopped working, with the same eror message for the LAN connection, "Local Area Connection, doesn't have a valid IP configuration."How often does the WAN port go bad? On both a five-year old BEFSR81, and a brand new E4200?
There is anyway to change the timeout on the tcp/udp connection? So the router close the connection automatically.

There doesn't seem to be a straightforward way in the e4200 web interface, is there any other way to perform this? Google doesn't seem to provide me many alternatives.

1) How can I tell if its running at optimal configuration?
2) Before with my previous router (netgear) I didn't see my router in Device Manager. Now its under Network Infrastructure Devices. It lists the name of my router, under that it lists Microsoft Wireless Router Module??
3) Before with my previous adapter (belkin) I would see my Network Adapter in Device Manager. I see my network adapter listed, under that Realtek PCI (LAN), but now there is another new device? Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniadapter??
Why are these Microsoft devices showing in Device Manager? Did they not get installed correctly?
I got my NTFS formatted drive to work with the E4200 router via its USB port.I do not see any 'Access' option to configure different access types based on users. I do have users configured in the Administration tab; these are what came per-configured on the router.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using a Cisco E4200 router today but I am moving to a ASA5505. I have a device that sets up a VPN tunnel that I want to put in my DMZ. It's called the ATT Gateway. I have attached the diagram. When I use a Cisco E4200 all I do is put the outside private ip address of 192.168.0.99 of the ATT Gateway into the DMZ of the E4200 and the VPN tunnel of the ATT Gateway comes right up. I cannot configure the DMZ to do the same with the ASA. I also need to have the laptop behind the gateway access the printers in the inside network.

I am using a linksys e4200 router with a linksys cm100 cable modem. How to connect these units so it is possible to send a fax online? Please give advanced users a work around to this, because if Twonky does not recognize our newer TV/devices, then we cannot play certain file formats without manually configuring the service.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy E4200 storage config (portions of it) does not persist through reboot cycles. We often have to reboot the router because we lose wireless conectivity, and each time we reboot, we lose our mapped drives because the router is no longer sharing the folders and permissions I set up. And in the storage settings, my shared folder setup looks like factory default (sharing only root /) after each reboot. Those settings do not persist. I have to restore my router config from a backup after each reboot, which is a real pain. Especially when the kids reboot the router to get their wireless back, but restore is just too complicated for them, and so they call me when they then can not access their network share folders with homework on them.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer 7750G, running Windows 7,connected to our home network using a Dynex router. At the moment this is the only laptop in the house that is having problems with connectivity. Starting yesterday, it only connects intermittently. When I run diagnostics, it says the following problems have been fixed but it either solves the problem for a few minutes only or not at all: "Problem with wireless adapter or access point" or "Default gateway is not available".
IPV6 connectivity also shows 'no internet access' and sometimes IPV4 reports no internet. I've unplugged and rebooted the modem and router a few times but that hasn't solved the problem.
Edit: I ran troubleshoot again, and it says the following issue is not fixed: "Wireless Network Connection 2 does not have a valid IP configuration".
I just got a new Latitude E4200 with a Dell Wireless 5530 3G/UMTS/WWAN card. I installed Win7 and now I cannot locate a 3G/WWAN software (the drivers are working fine, but I just cannot find the software that allows me to connect with the Vodafone 3G/WWAN network). I am using the "Dell Mobile Broadband Card Utility" software on my D830 (5520 card; also on Win7), but I cannot find that software or its successor for the 5530 card.
View 4 Replies View RelatedFor those of you who are trying to connect your router to a Comcast modem, be sure to actually RESET the modem instead of just depowering it like it instructs you in the setup process. This should save a lot of trial and error. Also unmark the MAC address cloning like the Cisco connect software does, then just renew IP and it should connect just fine.

The connection is fine when I'm near the router, but when I go to my room I get no connection at all, it connects for a second but then it goes on connection with limited access.
View 5 Replies View RelatedLast week I bought the E4200 thinking it was probably the best router on the market and if it worked properly, it would be...I think.I have attached a Seagate GoFlex Desk 2Tb USB drive formatted to NTFS to the USB of the E4200. I can map to it from my Windows XP computer with no problem and I can FTP to it from any browser...my Windows 7 machine is another story. When I try to map the network drive from the Windows 7 machine I get error code 0x80070035 every time. I've seen some other threads where people are having this problem but in the cases I've found, they aren't getting any connection via XP or FTP either.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have dimension 8100 with windows ME. turned off the integrated NIC because it stopped working and installed a d-link nic card a while ago. d-link worked poorly, so I connected my cable modem with USB. This worked well. Now I just bought a Dell laptop and router. The router needs to be connected to the desktop via the nic card for both desktop and laptop to work thru the router. I attempted to see if I could get the integrated card working. I entered setup and put the setting to ON for the integrated NIC card. I save and exited and the screen went black and stated "Plug and Play Configuration Error" 3x's. I rebooted and hit F2 to get into setup, but it won't let me and just goes right to the "plug and play configuration error" 3x's....
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an E4200 (v1) with the latest firmware. For some reason, the E4200 does not allow me to conenct to certain websites. This is true for wired or wireless connections.To test, I connected a wired PC directly to my cable modem and was able to connect to all websites fine. I also tried an old D-Link router I had on hand and was able to connect to all sites fine. Went back to the E4200 and was blocked. I re-loaded the firmware and same results.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have my e4200 connected to another modem/router (2Wire 3600HGV), because the other router does not support Wireless N. I can connect to my E4200 network, but there's just no connection to the internet. I reseted my e4200 but still no luck. I've unplugged both routers and replugged them, nothing. I know it's possible because I've had it set up before but I had my 2Wire exchanged for a newer one.

Just to be sure. I have the cable going from my modem out of port #1 and into my e4200 where it says internet, thats correct, right? On my e4200 i have the IP 192.168.1.2 but on the 2Wire I have the e4200 as 1.92.168.1.66.
The web site says that the E4200 has a USB port to connect USB drives and printers. That sounded to me like multiple devices could be added. It says nothing about only being able to connect one. Since I have 3 USB drives and 2 USB printers, that sounded great. Setting it up, it seems that this port will not use a HUB, and can only be used for one USB device. How can that be? That is so limiting as to be nearly useless.

Each time I try to launch the Dell WLAN Utility I get a message:
"Internal configuration is inconsistent. Please restart the machine to resolve the problem."
Restarting does not solve the problem.
The wireless card connects fine with Windows managing the connection. But what about the Dell Utility? What can be done so it will launch and I can let it manage the wireless connections?
I have reinstalled the Driver and utility using R115319.EXE
I was upgrading the OS [c:] on a DELL Poweredge 840 server from Win2k3 server to Win2k8 R2 server using the Dell SMTD DVD to prep the install. This has always worked in the past without destroying the data partitions. (I have now found out this only works properly if the OS is on a RAID 1/0/10 and the data on a RAID 5)
In this case the OS & Data were both on RAID 5 & the Dell tool reformatted (quickly) or maybe reset the partition table so that it looks like one big drive. I noticed this once I got to the install screen for Windows 2008 R2 and shut down the system.
Are there any utilities that can be run from a bootable CD/DVD that can undo the format on the RAID 5 set or else let me browse & recover the data on the various partitions?
I have an E4200 v1 wireless router. Intermittently, my hard wired laptop (and hard wired desktop) loose Internet connnectivity and when I look at the 4200 I see the status light flashing slowly like it was just rebooted. I am runnong 1.0.04, have reset to factory, reflashed the 1.0.04 code and done a 30-30-30 reset (so far no drops since the 30-30-30 reset but we'll see).
View 9 Replies View RelatedThe problem: running a standard single band 2.4gz BT homehub. When using my xbox and wireless headset (razer chimeara) the xbox loses connection. When i tuen the headset off i no longer lose connection. This suggests to me that the headset is simply emitting on the same frequency and bullying the connection, thus the xbox disconnects I have purchased the wireless N adapter to allow the xbox to run on the 2.4 or 5ghz band. I am now looking for a duel band router to allow my xbox to connect to the 5gz band and hopefully this will rectify my interference issue with the headset. I have been lookijg at the e4200 as this supports seperate ssid for 2.4 and 5ghz band, so the xbox can run on the 5ghz and the intererence from the 2.4ghz headset should subside - do you think this would work? Also, with the single ssid duel band routers, where 2.4/5gjz share the same ssid - how would my wireless N devices know to run on the 5ghz and not the 2.4?

I found the client table under "status" but I have not been able to find the connection speeds anywhere. I like to make sure that my devices are running at close to 300Mbps and not 54Mbps in case I have a connection setup wrong. I have searched in the forums without much luck.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a E4200 V1 with firmware 1.0.0.5 installed The problem is that when I connect the cable from my modem to my router and recycle both I get a rapidly fashing Cisco light and can not connect to the internet.If I remove that cable and recycle the router my network works but (obviously) I have no internet connectivity.This was working (almost 2 years) without issue until today.I updated the firmware and did a factory reset and neither resolved the issue.My next experiment is to see if I can't get log files (since the factory reset) but I can't do that at this time.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought a e4200 router about 3 weeks ago and after a power outage it decided it didnt like being connected to the internet anymore. So i got on the phone with cisco they determined the router was no good, mind you my laptop would connect wired. So they sent me a "refurbished" one, so i set it up. The new setup was wonky because it said the same message "Your connected to your router but..." then after trying to get the connection its self and failing it came up with "congratulations you are now connected to the internet". That lasted 3hrs and 45mins then died, so i went upstairs to power cycle it, it decided to connect with the old settings. That lased 25mins then died, so i reset it and reconfigured the router. Wouldnt connect, i checked my mac address and it was using my wireless one and kept turning on my wireless connection durring the install. So i cloned my wired mac address and got the internet for roughly an hour... then it died. So i reset it again and kept the wifi off got it going and decided to go to sleep. I wake up and its still working after 8hrs, i go down stairs with my tablet and i dies again. This time it refuses to reconnect, refuses to reset back up just doesnt want to work.

One is pc with cable, another one mac with wireless.SO my issue is that i can not connect none of them. I was trying to use cd that comes with router but he can not locate a router. When I connect cable directly from modem to computer everything works fine. As soon I connect cable to a router I can not see a router and I can not connect to internet.
