Dell :: WPA2 PSK HotSpot Station Will Not Serve Secure Pages

Oct 7, 2012

When I connect my Android device (Nook) via the HotSpot "Local Area Connection" it has a strong signal, but for some reason cannot load any https webpages, such as gmail.com. It always says "web page not available" when I know the sites are working. Previously it connected without any problems but now only non-secure websites are accessible; I don't know what has caused the change.

My device connects with no such problem via the larger wireless network here (security is WEP), but the signal is weak so I prefer to use the HopSpot connection.

I have a XPS with HotSpot 1.1.0.0. The device says it is connected to HotSpot with WPA/WPA2 PSK.

Can't Access Secure / Https Pages On Only 1 Website

Mar 21, 2012

Iv tried about everything you can find when you google things about not being able to access a particular website but none work checking out all security settings, deleting all cache, disabling security, checking date and time, flushdns, use opendns, try other devices (not one device in my household can get to https pages on this one site), making sure root certificates are updated, bypassing router, unplugging internet and router to ''reset'', trouble shooting with isp, website, ssl issuer, other wildblue users, other website users, other tech forum, checking for virus and malware and I'm sure there's more that I can't recall at the moment. I am not the only user of this website with a problem and all us having a problem have satellite internet (different providers), however not everyone with my satellite internet (wildblue thru dishnetwork) has this problem as I have asked here...some do some don't Wildblue ''blocking'' a website's ssl? - WildBlueWorld.com Forums

I can go to the website toontown.com but I can not access any pages that are ''secure'' or https. Can't login and using satellite internet?

Dell :: Latitude D820 Network In Docking Station

I have a Latitude D820, Windows XP, SP3.   At my office I have a regular docking station but at home I have a D/Dock docking station.  When I dock the 820 at home the Broadcomm network card works flawlessly.  When I dock it in the office, it will occasionally work but most of the time the link light and data light on the docking station are on solidly and XP reports that the cable is unplugged.  I have tried two different docking stations with identical results and also tested the cable by plugging it into the docking station that holds a D810. With the D810 it worked normally.

This is intermittent. It didn't happen the first week I had it and I have never had that problem with my laptop. Also, the cursor seems to want to move around when in areas that I am going to type in, like to do a search or put in the site name or such. All security is in place, Dell facilitated me with that via the phone.

Dell :: Inspiron 600M Can't Use WPA2 Security

Aug 11, 2012

My Inspiron 600M laptop running XP - SP3 connects fine to my wireless network when using WEP but refuses to connect when using WPA2.  I have Verizon FiOS with an Actiontec router (MI424WR - Rev. I).  Googling this issue produces lots of older posts about the need for SP3 vs. SP2, but not much else.  Should I look into updating the laptop's driver?  If so, how?  I tried creating a custom password (key) with fewer digits.

I'm also not thrilled about the wireless speed I'm getting on this laptop -- about 6 Mbps even when it's right next to the router.  (The desktop, with a wired connection to the router, gets 25.)  (1) Could the two issues be related?  One tech rep assured me that WPA2 would greatly increase my network's range and speed, but other people deny this.  (2)  Is this just due to the Inspiron's older wireless receiver, or is there something else I could tweak to improve my speed?

It will not highlight search pages that have been viewed at all. I have Internet Explorer 9 & Windows 7 - 32 bit on a Dell Inspiron 1545. I have uninstalled & reinstalled Internet Explorer 9. Above mentioned application did not work on either Internet Explorer 8 or 9. I have cleared all cookies, deleted all temp. internet files, optimized disc space twice & done a Full scan w/ my Norton. I go to color setting under Internet Explorer make the changes & hit each "OK", but the changes don't take. The "Apply" button is recessed and is not functioning. This has been the problem for approximately the last week and 1/2, before that color highlighting function was working. This color highlighting feature of viewed pages does work in Mozilla fire fox, but that is not what I want to use.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Configure E1200 To Serve Out IP Addresses?

Aug 7, 2012

I want to put a second router on the inside of my (new, soon-to-be-installed) VDSL router supplied by my ISP.  Reading the E1200 manual I believe that I can use the "Internet" socket to connect to one of the four sockets on the wired part of my ISP's router, and give it a fixed IP address which matches the network defined on the ISP router.

For example use 192.168.0.0/24 for the network between the ISP router and the E1200, and then configure the E1200 to serve out addresses in 192.168.2.0/24 (say).I don't want to buy the E1200 and then find it won't do what I want.

Dell Dimension 4300 - How To Secure Windows ME System Connected To Internet

May 26, 2013

I am about to re-install Windows ME on an old Dell Dimension 4300. The computer is connected to the internet via a 2Wire 3600HGV DSL modem/router.

Do I need a software firewall? Or is the router sufficient? Is antivirus software necessary if I don't download anything? It will be part of a local LAN, so I don't want to jeopardize any of the other PCs on the home network.

NOTE: I'm looking to run some older (non-DOS) computer games that don't run well (or at all) on XP and newer systems.

NOTE 2: When I say 'secure', I'm not looking to actively browse the web on the machine. I was curious as to what risks I be facing if I simply had this PC connected to my local network (and thus the internet).

Add 2 Repeaters To A Base Station?

I can't use LAN cable and the building has different electricity supply to the 3 different part of the building so can't use the mains to carry the signal.
