View 1 RepliesIve been going over some exam questions and i got a question regarding diskless host. i have dont some googling but cannot find a overview explanation.
View 4 Replies View RelatedCurrently working on a personal project to diskless boot several PCs of different configurations. Trying to use software called CCBoot only because it seams to be the easiest way of uploading the disk images to the server. My problem is that when booting the test machine it will not load from the TFTP server (times out).168.0.2 and is on a network with a Cradlepoint MBR95 router which provides DHCP. The server handles one of my ISPs and the router the other, but I don't think that will be a problem. CCBoot support highly recommends I use the software for my DHCP, but can use an existing DHCP server[CODE]
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running on windows 7 professional with a realtek gigabit ethernet port. It's a gateway SX2370. It originally came with home premium and a bunch of bloatware so I restored with pro. I thought I installed all the drivers but a few minutes after bootup, the ethernet breaks. It works for a few minutes, as I can access the internet, and then itt gives me the no internet access error. I used a usb wireless card and that works after bootup, but doesn't run as nearly as fast as my gigabit ethernet.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a concern about my system. I am running Win XP Pro on my computer and when it boots up and I log in, it takes about two minutes with the internet first, AVG following and windows firewall last amongst other apps.Is there a way that I can increase my loading speeds plus changing the bootup sequence so I don't run high risk of infections from trojans or malware?

However, it doesn't seems to be able to bootup properly. Could this be an hardware issue? What should I do?
A month after i had this laptop(bought new) its started have insanely slow connection times after booting up. The little blue circle starts to twirl meaning its searching for a wireless network. It then freezes and takes about 1 min- 5min to actually come back to normal and connect to a network. If i hibernate or standby there is no such problem, only after a fresh reboot. For this reason i usually never turn off my laptop, thus avoiding a lot network connection wait.
View 3 Replies View RelatedCustomer has a Catalyst WS-C2960-48PST-L. and in some ports we have VoIP phones with PoE company Aastra. If I use first config we have problem when phone boot up.
First config:
description tp-11-voip
switchport access vlan 250
switchport mode access
switchport voice vlan 201
switchport port-security maximum 2
switchport port-security(code )
The MAC shown here is from a voip Phone. After the phone boot up, the p, because it must boot first in vlan 250 (access vlan). On the port you can only see the MAC from vlan 201. With the second config the phone can boot without problems:
interface FastEthernet0/48
description tp-11-voip
switchport access vlan 250
switchport mode access
switchport voice vlan 201
is there a reason, why it is the problem with the first config on cat2960 ? The same first config works with an Cat2950 without problems.
I recently upgraded a few 2960 switches to 15.0(1)SE, and while they are working fine, I did notice a strange syslog message upon boot-up that wasn't previously there. [code] I did some cursory searching via google but nothing useful presented itself.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a windows 7 desktop with an SSD and regular mechanical hard drive where I keep my data. I also have a laptop with a small SSD as well. I wanted to keep the laptop free of non-critical data so I decided to setup a file share between my desktop (Windows 7 home prem) and my laptop (Windows 7 pro). I was able share the files and navigate to my desktop through my laptop. I successfully mapped the folder as a network drive and all was well. Then I rebooted and I was disconnected from it, it remembered that it was there but I needed to manually connect to it and I needed to provide my login credentials. There is no password just a username.
What is causing this and is there a way to get around this? Also is there a way to set a timeout because if my desktop is not on and I want to use my laptop, the boot times are much longer compared to when I don't have the mapped network drive on my laptop at all.
I'm using an HP Elitebook 6930p with Windows XP and an HP EN488UT docking station. When I use the computer by itself the Network Connections shows "Local Area Connection 3 Connected Intel 83567LM Gigabit Network Connection" and I can connect to the internet. When I am in the docking station, I can also see this connection, as long as my notebok is open when I start up. However, if i start the computer with the lid closed (I just want to use the external monitor, not the notebook monitor) that network connection does not appear and I cannot connect to the intenet.

Can I connect 2 or more wireless repeaters to the same wireless base station signal to extend wireless coverage? I.e. The base station is located in the centre of the building and the signal covers the middle but not the extreme end of the building. I would like to add a repeater on each opposite sides of the signal's reach so it covers the complete building. I can't use LAN cable and the building has different electricity supply to the 3 different part of the building so can't use the mains to carry the signal. Is this possible using wirless repeaters or do I have to use wireless bridge units to connect to the base station and then output with wireless access points attached to the bridge unit to extend the wirless signal?
View 6 Replies View Relatedif the network i'm planning on will even work so i drew a picture on my project (attached). All cables will be gigabit compatible as will be the switches. The reason i will have 2 switches is because they won't be in the same building. The uppermost switch will be physically next to the router to enable me to have gigabit connection between the DiskStation and the PCs/HTPC without having to change my router (in fact can't change it due to special firmware for my internet TV).
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe would like to install a wireless network throughout the station. Currently we have a wired network with 15 PC's and are looking at obtaining tablets for our squads and apparatus. The station is quite large and is divided by the vehicle bays.I'm thinking that we will need multiple access points throughout the station. I am familiar with setting up one wireless router but not with multiple access points.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the Air Station WHR-G300N. I just moved here from CA, I was on Verizon and now trying to use it on my girlfriend Cox system I can't get it to operate correctly.
Her PC system stopped having internet connection after about 2 weeks(running on the router) and going with Cox's reboot procedure of eliminating the router it can back up and seems to work fine as soon as I hook it back to the modem it stops.
I have unplugged all cables waited 30 seconds on both systems a couple of times. The lights are on the modem and the router.
I am trying to install ACS 5.0 on workstation, however once the install finsihes it reboots and I enter the Linux bash command line rather than the Cisco CLI.

I was wondering if it is at all possible to set up a DIR-655 as a wireless base station for any router (specifically a netgear wrg614 v10). I've read that the DIR-655 can be set up as an access point, but with my current situation it's not currently possible. If this is not compatible with this specific netgear router, is there any other solution besides having to purchase a dedicated access point?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am blocked with the below doubt for my issue resolution. When a ethernet frame for eg:ARP Packet of minimum length (64 bytes) is received at the end station, will the L2 layer remove both FCS and extra padding bytes(18 padding bytes for ARP)? Or removal of the padding bytes is dependent on the implementation?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Latitude D820, Windows XP, SP3. At my office I have a regular docking station but at home I have a D/Dock docking station. When I dock the 820 at home the Broadcomm network card works flawlessly. When I dock it in the office, it will occasionally work but most of the time the link light and data light on the docking station are on solidly and XP reports that the cable is unplugged. I have tried two different docking stations with identical results and also tested the cable by plugging it into the docking station that holds a D810. With the D810 it worked normally.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I connect my Android device (Nook) via the HotSpot "Local Area Connection" it has a strong signal, but for some reason cannot load any https webpages, such as gmail.com. It always says "web page not available" when I know the sites are working. Previously it connected without any problems but now only non-secure websites are accessible; I don't know what has caused the change.
My device connects with no such problem via the larger wireless network here (security is WEP), but the signal is weak so I prefer to use the HopSpot connection.
I have a XPS with HotSpot 1.1.0.0. The device says it is connected to HotSpot with WPA/WPA2 PSK.
We are planning to split the Private servers from the DMZ Servers and configure an additional Interface and segment for this purpose.
Private Servers Segment: 192.168.4.0/24 (there is no DHCP all servers' IPs are statically configured)
DMZ Segment: 192.168.3.0/24 (This is a future deployment)
LAN Segment: 172.17.0.0/16
Both, Private Servers and DMZ Servers are in a collocation as well as the ASA5520. There are multiple Branch offices that uses subnets within the 172.17.0.0/16 Network and they are connected to the ASA5520 via Metro-E.
I do not know if this is possible but what I want to do is this:
In order to avoid the change of internal DNS records I want to mask the DMZ servers with a Private Server IP when a Private server or LAN host wants to access it like this:
The FTP server in the DMZ has the IP address: 192.168.3.100. But when a PC from the LAN wants to reach the FTP server it should points to its old IP: 192.168.4.100. This way the PC sends a packet to the ftp.corporate.net (192.168.4.100) the ASA recieves the packet and translate it to the (192.168.3.100) and send it out through the DMZ Interface.
Also if the Private Servers wants to reach the same FTP the ASA will act like a proxy-ARP and send the paquet to the DMZ by means of the translation of the IP.
I have a HP 6530b Laptop, and on-board Broadcom NetLink Gigabit Ethernet adapter. When I remove my laptop from the docking station, I obviously lose Network connectivity, however, when I replace the laptop back (or even just plug in a cable directly), I cannot reconnect to the network until I reboot. When I open Network and Sharing Center (Win7), and click change adapter settings the adapter is missing from the list (after i have removed laptop from docking station).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two computers, one is a Dell Dimension 8300 while the other is a Compaq Presario Desktop. Both use Microsoft Windows XP OS 32 bit and are networked using a Microsoft Wireless G-Base Station MN-700 on the Dell and a Wireless G-Adapter on the Compaq. This arrangement worked quite well for some time and recently they stopped communicating with each other. I reset the base station as described in the manual. When I did the same for the Adapter I could not enter the correct Wireless Security Key. I tried copying the key from the Base to the adapter but to no avail. Do I have to uninstall both units from their respective computers and reinstall from the CD provided?

I would like to use my new EA6500 as the base station and another wireless router with Wireless Repeating Function as a repeater. Is the EA6500 capable of that?? I have not found any documentation on that subject.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWe have been having issues with random packet drops and or some sort of radio lockup which happens a few times a day. I have a test AP setup with a few clients only a few feet away and I see this combination of messages. Should I be seeing these clients drop off and then reconnect immediately? Granted these test clients are not passing much data but my assumption is that they would not become deauthenticated because of lack of activity? This setup is using a radius server for authentication. I tested it before with just WPA2 PSK and only had a few disconnected over a number of days, compared with many a day with the Radius.
