Recently it has been really slow (less than 300kb/s) and I am tired of it. I want to use wired again but the modem and router are in my basement. Running an Ethernet cable from the router to my room is a last resort. I currently have Cox Internet, Telephone, and Cable. I do have a cable supplying internet to my room, so that is not my concern. How can I move my modem and router without losing phone service? Can it be any phone cable or does it have to be one connected to a special outlet as the modem currently is?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWell I just built a new computer but I didn't buy a wireless card because I figured I could just use the one from my previous computer. The problem, however, is that I can't seem to find the wireless card at all. All I see is a sound card and a video card plugged in so how was I able to get wireless internet on the computer in the first place?
For what it's worth the motherboard is a M2N68-LA
I recently install Windows8 Enterprise build 9200 on my Dell XPS L502X and everything is working fine so far except my modem. In device manager its installed properly but the network manager doesn't list it as an option to connect to (as it usually would in win7),
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy wi-fi has always been a little spotty, but today it finally just completely stopped working.
I have an XPS L502x running Windows 7 and a Verizon FiOS connection (Actiontec modem/router). My work laptop (running XP), phone (Android), desktop (Win 8), and my girlfriend's Mac connect to this network fine. But the Dell has consistently had trouble over the year that I've owned it. In the past, I've been able to force it to connect by manually resetting the wi fi, but that didn't work today.
The wi fi will intermittently find the network, fail to connect to the internet, then lose connectivity to the network itself. Windows troubleshooting says I should reset the router (despite all of the other successful connections). This works for a second, but the Dell loses connectivity again (note: I''ve seen that this is associated with McAffee in other questions, but I'm not running McAffee). When I tried running the Intel troubleshooter, it passed all tests but the last one, saying it "Failed to Ping".
Another weird thing (not sure if it's related) is that my computer displays four different Network Adapters in Device Manager. One is the Intel Wireless-N 1000, but there are also two Windows adapters and what looks like a generic PCI driver. If you disable any one of them, you get the Intel "wireless adapter disabled" message. If you uninstall the Windows adapters, both reinstall when you try to connect to the network.
I have a 1 1/2 year old Dell XPS 15 L502x laptop.I have noticed that it has started having network connection issues with the wifi. It connects to all wifi properly but seems to be having issues with the home router recently. Around November 2012 it started. However I fixed the issue then by re-installing the driver.
This time reinstalling the driver did not solve the problem .. I have tried using the driver from intel's website as suggested by a previous forum post on a similar issue. I have alos tried the power settings suggestions by intel and none of these have solved the problem.

I just got an XPS 15 (L502X). It comes with the McAfee internet security suite. I tries to connect my other laptop wireless to my XPS 15 through the Intel My WiFi Technology access point option so that i could share my LAN internet connection. Whilst the other laptop connects wireless with the XPS 15. The internet connection sharing only works when i disable the McAfee firewall. How to configure the firewall.

I have a dell xps L502X with windows 8. My network adapter was replaced last month. My DHCP is enabled. My DNS Server reads 192.168.1.1 and it's a home/cable/DSL connection so from what I've read that's right. I've set my IPv4 and IPv6 to automatically detect the DNS server and IP address to use. I've tried to reconfigure the computer to the wireless router, but when I go to set up a new network no networks pop up even though many networks pop up for me to connect to on the right of my screen.
All of my other devices are connected and working fine. That was the background and what I've tried to fix for my problem. When I try to connect to my home network it says it's a limited connection meaning I have no Internet access. When I run the trouble shooter for the network, Internet connections, and network adapter the only one that has an issue is the network one and the issue is that the DNS server isn't responding.
I have Dell XPS L502X, Windows 7 Home Premium. My internet was working last night but when I turned it on this morning it would not connect. It is connected to my bt homehub with full strength but no internet access. It says IPV4 No Internet Access. I tried using a wire to connect it but that did not work either.Other devices are connecting. So can't be a problem with the internet itself. [code]

View 15 Replies View RelatedI recently bought an XPS 15 L502x and I cannot find the bluetooth function on it. Looked everywhere in the device manager and Controll Pannel. Does it mean it doesn't come as standard and you have to upgrade it while choosing your components? I hope niot because it sounds a bit ridiciulous to have a top range model with core i7 and 1080p screen and no bluetooth which is as basic to me as wifi or speakers.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy wife just bought a Dell XPS L502x. I cannot get it to connect to our wireless network without disabling the route security completely. Even then it is slow.

Our router is a Linksys Wireless-G 2.4 GHZ WRT54GL
I am aware of the PSP issue and have turned off the option to allow the computer to turn off the adapter and have set the power settings to the highest settings for both battery and plugged in. I have messed the routers security and the computer will not connect unless I turn off the security entirely. It connects but is slow. Anything else and it will not connect at all. Regardless, it can always detect the network without a problem and shows signal strength of Excellent (full bars) even when it is running slow. It works great on a cable or with a wireless usb adapter. I am positive that I am entering the password correctly as i have done this many times now. All other wireless devices in the house connect without a problem including her old Dell laptop.I have updated all the drivers (including the adapter) and keep current on all the Windows updates.when I run the ipconfig /all it lists all my wireless adapters and the blue tooth as "media disconnected". Not sure if that is referring to not being connected to the network or something else.
I can't find the latest driver for the Renesas USB 3.0 in the Dell website. I have a Targus USB 3.0 Hub that stopped working and I am told I need to update the Host Controller driver. The driver version I have now is 2.1.27.0 dated 9/13/2011.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two XPS 15 (L502x) laptops (purchased in March '12) with Intel Wifi link 1000 BGN adapters. On a regular basis both laptops lose their connection to the internet (via FIOS), at the same time. I'm convinced that is not FIOS or my router. I have a Dell STUDIO 8100, an iPhone and iPad, and these wireless devices do not lose their connections. Sometimes I'm able to resolve the issue by using "troubleshooting" via the adapter, often restarting the laptop and/or the router is the only way to resolve my problem. I've run the Dell Support software, it indicates no drivers are available for update, so I assume I'm current.I've read about turning off 802.11n, I've read about problems w/ power management and conflicts with wireless.

I cannot make a long distance fax with my phone card & HPOffice Jet 6500A-It will take the long distance fax # then say long distance is not supported. If I dial my phone card # - It then asks to press 1 for english, 2 for spanish and there are no dials lit to enter the language choice. If that would go through, I could enter my pass code then dial the long distance fax # once my available minutes are confirmed. It seems like this was not thought out on this machine - how am I to make a long distance fax with out having to purchase long distance service from the phone company?

I'm pretty sure this is caused by the ACL (I've tested removing the ACL and the issue never occurred) but I can't just get ride of it.
Any alternative way to drop broadcasts?
