Error - Windows Could Not Setup Internet Connection?
Mar 14, 2011
I m facing Internet sharing problem in windows 7, when I m creating wireless adhoc network, so that on other(wi-fi enabled) system, I can use internet, At that time error like' Windows could not setup internet connection sharing' appears...
& after pressing ok... when I m doing it mannually( By going to the Properties of local area network-> then in Sharing tab option ] when I m selecting checkbox for internet sharing at that time error comes like' An error comes while internet connection sharing was being enabled The dep[endency service/group failed to start '
what should i do i have no internet connection at all but just under time warner cable, im running a laptop with windows 7 .i had try everything but no luck im thinking it maybe incompatibility with the modem/router
When I connect to my home network, I get 'No Internet access.' I am running windows 7 on a Toshiba Satellite laptop. I should also mention that my Xbox 360 won't connect either, but both of my friend's laptops as well as my phone do connect to our internet. Also, using my phone as a wifi hotspot works intermittently.
When I do ipconfig /release it says the following:
An error occurred while releasing interface Wireless Network Connection : An address has not yet been associated with the network endpoint.
No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection while it has its media disconnected. When I do ipconfig /renew I get:
An error occurred while renewing interface Wireless Network Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out. No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection while it has its media disconnected.
Recently, I re-installed windows XP on a newly formatted hard drive. I tried to use the network setup wizard to create an internet connection via a cable plugged into back of pc but the wizard says that it can not detect network hardware. I believe the network card is built into the Motherboard. I tried to isntall drivers from the Dell Cd that came with the system but it fails to detect a modem. My system is a Dell dimension 5150?
I'm trying to set up a 5505 (running 8.3) so that i can use the client vpn through RADIUS authentication.I have set up a new local RAIDUS windows box and used the ASDM asistant and a few other guides to setup the 5505.
I have 3 laptops running through a wireless lan. All laptops connect to the router, and 2 of them connect through to the internet. One of them will not connect to the internet. I have tried using an ethernet cable connection, and this did not work either. The more worrying thing for me (not being so computer literate) is that I could not even get a response when I pinged the modem when it was connected with a cable to the PC. The network sharing centre says that I have a default gateway access issue or that "wireless network connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration, I have lost the ability to print with wifi and my Sonos system now no longer connects. I also get a media disconnected message when I do an ipconfig.
My windows 7 computer was connected to my home's wireless network yesterday perfectly normally. I drove last night to my mother's house and proceeded to connect to her own wifi router wirelessly. Although my sister's computer that's on windows 7 connects ably, and both our iPhones connect, my computer will not. My computer finds the network( it is unsecured without a password if that makes a difference ) connects, receives an ipv4 address in ipconfig, yet does not obtain Internet access. It labels the network as an "unidentified network".
I have Comcast cable internet and a wireless router. It has been working fine for months. Today, I can connect to the network but it says "No Internet connection." I have tried restarting the modem, router, and my computer. The strange thing is that the connection lights on the modem and router are lit as usual. Right now the router "internet" light is showing some kind of activity.
I have installed win98 in a PC since my father wanted to use some old programs he likes. the PC has D-link wireless network PCI card. unlike win xp I heard that the wireless internet won't be set by just installing the wireless card driver on the system, but there are far more things to do in win98 to set your internet.
I am able to connect to firefox internet but when I try to log in to my Yahoo Messenger or iTunes store it tells me that my internet connection timed out. I try to connect to Internet Explorer and it will not connect to the web there. I have went into the tools box in Internet Explorer and clicked on internet option and than connection and I was going to try to change the proxy server LAN and when I would go into it to change that I would be able to find the address to put in but can not figure out what the port section is. I am using a wireless connection and it shows that i have connection even when I try the troubleshooting section that checks the connection and it tells me that there is no problem with it. I also tried restarting my wireless router and than restarting my computer which did not work.
Than I tried disconnecting and reconnecting to internet and still nothing. When I would login to my Yahoo Messenger and pushed the troubleshooter bottom it says, "We are not able to make a connection to the Internet. One of the following may be true: You're not connection to the Internet. Check cables, modems, routers, etc; Your Windows Internet options including the Windows Firewall settings are incorrect.; There is a problem with your Windows network settings, for example, the DNS settings in your Internet Protocol (IP) settings are incorrect or the DNS server is specified incorrectly or is not responding.; For more information, check the Windows online help and search for terms like "DNS" or "Firewall."

I use my phone as a modem with PdaNet for my computer to have an internet connection. I play Xbox Live with it all the time, but recently when I try to share the connection, it says Error 765 : Cannot Enable Shared Access".
I am currently on Time Warner Cable 10 mbps packge, and am using their wireless DOCIS3 modem/router. It is connected in my bedroom to the main computer. That computer stays connected. However, throughout the rest of the house (we have a two story townhome) it will drop completely or give limited connection...constantly. Sometimes I can have my laptop next to me and it will go out or give limited connection. The connection speed never drops, it just goes completely to no connection. Not for sure what is going on, if its on my end or time warner. Has been doing this for quite some time, the cable company comes out and changes the modem, but that's it, couple days later, goes back to doing it again.
I use an Edimax 11n usb wireless lan utility to connect to my router. It gets 60% signal strength and 100% link quality. Either i get disconnected, limited access or no internet access statuses every other hour or not at all. Its intermittent which makes it impossible to explain to the internet provider. The main error that comes up when windows diagnoses is "DNS connection error". Now the internet provider has shown me how to manually set the router to use specific DNS's and that still did nothing.
I've been watching my PC-s HDD for months and I saw that something takes up way to much space, yesterday I checked and Windows said that I have 160 GB Free / 883 GB But when I selected all files in my E: even hidden files and checked their properties / size, it said its only 440 GB. So I was missing another 283 somewhere in this partition. I used the windows cleanup tool and it gave me back some of the space, but it wasnt 283 GB. I checked and checked, then I found a program called WinDirStat which shows you how much space you have and stuff, then I found this: [URL]Then I found out that WinDirStat cannot access the System volume informations and this unknown is that. Then I googled stuff up again and found this:
Code:
1. To see the space allocated and used for SVI:
- Open Command Prompt with Run as Administrator option
- Type in: vssadmin list shadowstorage
- You will see Used Space, Allocated Space and Maximum Space for SVI
2. To see the restore information stored therein:
- Use in the same console command: vssadmin list shadows
3. To resize the maximum allocated space:
- Type in command: vssadmin resize shadowstorage /on=[here add the drive letter]: /For=[here add the drive letter]: /Maxsize=[here add the maximum size]
- You can check the status again using the command discussed in point 1 above
4. Just to get rid of the space already consumed, but sticking to the same size of max-size as before:
- Do actions as per point 3 to set the max-size t, say, 1GB
- If you check now, most likely youll see that used space is now 0KB
- Do the resize again and set it back to what it was before
- Check your disk space availability in Windows Explorer, you should see the reclaim is done!I did what this guide said and it deleted the system volume information from my E: drive and I had my 440 GB back. BUT!At this part I HAD internet connection. I shutdown the PC, went to eat and do stuff, then I came back and got a blue screen right after the win7 logo (before the log in screen)I couldnt read what it said, because the PC restarted itself (even tho it is set NOT to restart so I can read the errors...wierd!)Then it started repairing itself, restarted, asked for a chkdsk, fixed millions of errors then restarted and I logged in just fine. But in the bottom right corner I seen a big ugly red X over my network connections, so naturally I went out my room, restarted modem and router then came back. Waited some mins, checked the modem and router again but they had internet. I started my sisters PC and her PC had internet.I checked everything I could, but I couldnt revive the internet, I cant join to any network (home, private, work) and I cant even see any. I only see dial up connections, hamachi and tunngle. Then I tried to resintall the driver. Deleted driver, restart PC, win automatically installed the nvidia driver for me, but still no internet. Then out of couriosity I started my Virtual PC (win xp) to check if it has internet connection or not. And it has! I am writing from the Virtual PC now.So the network card is working perfectly, no hardware damage.I googled stuff up again to find a solution and then I found this thread: Loopback Pseudo-Interface 1I did what it said there and my result was different:
I have 2 internet connection with the same ISP, SmartBro 2mbps.We have 7 computer unit plus 1 unit that will serve as the server. Is it possible that we combine the two internet connection into just one LAN so that all PC's will see each other. Mainly for network gamesBTW, we don't have any routers or switch yet.
I have a Vizio smart tv with built in wifi. I have Centurylink dsl service with a Westell 7500 gateway. All of my wifi devices, including my tv can access the internet appropriately. I also have a wii connected to my tv which can access the internet via wifi. My question is---is there anyway to setup an internet connection to my directv hd receiver using the wifi connection through my tv or wii? I really do not want to buy anymore equipment and I only have one phone line run with dsl service.
I just purchased e4200 from a friend of mine. Got an issue with setup of this device. I use a model from internet provider. Have 2 computers at home. One is pc with cable, another one mac with wireless.SO my issue is that i can not connect none of them. I was trying to use cd that comes with router but he can not locate a router. When I connect cable directly from modem to computer everything works fine. As soon I connect cable to a router I can not see a router and I can not connect to internet.
When I run the setup CD the router cannot locate the internet connection. I'm using a Motorola Surfboard modem. My local PC works fine on the internet. My remote wireless PC shows limited or no connectivity. I have switched out the Ethernet cables with no luck
I have a LAN adapter and a USB wireless internet connection. When both connected windows 7 always uses the USB. I tried changing the metric values but no luck. Currently automatic metric on all adapters.LAN connected. ipconfig shows that it is connected to the correct ip/dns/gateway etc. IPv4 Route table shows Metric 24 Then connected USB. ipconfig shows USB connectivity then LAN in that order. Internet is now through USB. IPv4 Route table shows Metric 4249 for LAN and USB is 41. Gateway for USB shows "on-link". netstat -rn shows USBDEVICE on top.Changed LAN metric to 5 and now the route table shows LAN as 9 (not sure why it added 4) and USB as 41.
Netstat shows LAN then USB. ipconfig shows LAN then USB.But still connection is through USB. How do I know? Task manager shows utilization only through USB as well as speed is showing around 1mbps rather than LANs 10mbps. How can I get win7 use LAN while USB is connected. I am just trying to use USB as a backup just in case I lose LAN connection.I thought i will make USB metric manually to say 10. But it says I have to reconnect for it to be effective. Currently USB still shows below LAN and still has 9 and 41 in the table.Disconnected USB. Table shows LAN metric as 24 (Not sure why it got changed from 9 and setting got reverted by to automatic)Reconnected USB. Now in the setting still shows 10 and the route table shows 11 for USB and LAN shows 4249 (settings shows 4245, 4 less))For some reason restarting USB is resetting LAN setting when reconnected.

how to setup an adhoc network using TPLINK WR740N without using any internet connection?I want to setup a WLAN connection between my Desktop and 2 other Laptops for file transfer and sharing.... how to search and connect to other available wifi networks using my router?
I've just managed to reset the WRT 300N to default settings and have setup the internet connection etc and home network ... BUT no matter how I've fiddled with the wireless settings I cannot get any of the laptops or mobile phones to connect wireless to the network. The Windows software on the laptops 'finds' the router OK but for some reason the router seems unwilling to supply an IP address.I've checked ALL of the settings that I can think of, and all are correct ... well, all are exactly the same as my old router which worked perfectly.
I newly installed win 7 in 2 pc's. I had used the internet connection sharing when I had Win xp installed in them before. So I gave the static IP address,192.168.0.1 to the pc with the internet connection, and had the other pc obtained the IP address automatically. File sharing works fine, but somehow the 2nd PC could not be connected to the internet. When I checked its connection details, the Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address was 169.254.224.63. I think this IP address should be something like 192.168.0.xxx, but it's configured to auto, so I can't really do anything right now
my win 7 desktop always disconnect from internet connection after it has been connected and i ran network diagnosis wizard it was saying DNS ERROR CONNECTION. All other systems in my office use the same dns address.
new laptop running windows 7 home premium? i connect to the internet using mobile broadband device which works fine but i have been trying for a week now to share that connect with my local area network connection to access my ps3 (as i did with xp) to no success. 1st the LAN states that is is an "unidentified network: so when i tried to set up internet connection sharing, it would say that the wimax network adapter was "shared" but there would be no internet or network access though LAN. now i cannot even start ics as i am getting an error message that states "an error occurred while Internet Connection Settings was being enabled (null)..
I ran an xp computer for a long time, in WoW i had a latency of around 100-120 which wasnt that bad. Now I built a computer with Win7(64bit) and the latency varies from around 250-370ms.
I currently work as a business analyst for a national sales team. I essentially work off of my own server, and just use remote instances to access the database. I am having trouble accessing the internet with the server all I have is intranet(local) access.Since my notebook(with working internet access) is on the same network as my server I feel like I should be able to bridge the network connection on my notebook to work within the server, so I can run updates.
