I have installed win98 in a PC since my father wanted to use some old programs he likes. the PC has D-link wireless network PCI card. unlike win xp I heard that the wireless internet won't be set by just installing the wireless card driver on the system, but there are far more things to do in win98 to set your internet.

Recently, I re-installed windows XP on a newly formatted hard drive. I tried to use the network setup wizard to create an internet connection via a cable plugged into back of pc but the wizard says that it can not detect network hardware. I believe the network card is built into the Motherboard. I tried to isntall drivers from the Dell Cd that came with the system but it fails to detect a modem. My system is a Dell dimension 5150?

Most of the time it operates fine but we find sometimes it loses connectivity, both internet connectivity from the machine and access to the machine remotely. This is not acceptable as the machine is operating rather critical processes and ideally it should be available 100% of the time.
I cannot determine if the fault lies with Windows, the router or the network.

I have an HP G60-530US laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I bought a Linksys AE1200 USB Wireless Network Adapter because the laptop stopped recognizing the internal wireless adapter. However, when I use the CD that came with the Linksys adapter to install it, the adapter is not detected. I have tried different USB ports and also power-cycling the router & cable modem & rebooting. Nothing seems to work. I also ran the Setup program on my Gateway DX4860 desktop but the Linksys AE1200 is not detected on the desktop, either.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm unable to access the web setup screen from 4 different windows machines running IE 9 or Firefox (various combinations of wireless, wired, etc.). When I get to the certificate error and hit the "yes, i understand, continue", it comes back with a 'can't be reached' page and looking into the details says the 'connection was dropped'. However If I connect from a MacBook / safari, I'm able to reach the page fine (and admin the router).
Using a wrt610n.I am connected to the router, the ip address hasn't changed, the password hasn't changed.I can use the router & connect to the internet.I have the router set to require HTTPS, but switching it to allow HTTP doesn't work. Both Wired & Wireless Win 7 / IE9 machines can't connect.Tried setting the router ip address to 'trusted' zone in IE. Tried setting the router ip address to the 'compatibility' mode in IE. Tried using latest version of Firefox with the same results.

Trendnet router ( initially w/o security). I was able to readily connect to and access all pcs to Internet. However, recently went to Trendnet on line site and installed Router password security. Was able to connect and access the Internet on 2 of the 3 desktop pcs as well as the Laptop. However, 1 desktop ( running on Windows XP Professional, 5.1.2600 SVCPK 3, Optiplex G x 60 ) does not permit access to Internet. Once I get to the screen asking for the password ( network key) , I insert same I receive an error message stating "Network key s/b WEP pr a WPA key".
I have recently moved into a new flat and with my wireless router in my livingroom I am unable to get good signal in either of the bedrooms? Steps taken:Modem and router have been shut down and restarted.Router has been returned to factory settings and reconfigured.Validated with my ISP there are no issues with my internet service. Router software has been uninstalled, reinstalled I do not use McAfee. I've run a full virus scan, a full malware scan and just for good measure, a defrag. I've checked my firewall.
