I want to setup LAMP on Virtual Box on Windows 7. I am wondering if it is possible to (regular cable modem from ISP connected to desktop through ethernet port, dynamic IP)
1) Connect from Windows7 to Linux (Apache, MySQL-server, etc...)
2) Connect from Linux to the Internet
3) Connect from Windows 7 to the Internet ...all at the same time?
I have 64bit Windows7 Professional OS, and have installed Windows XP Mode, I have a wireless and ethernet-capable Router. My HP PC has both wireless and ethernet connection capability.When running Windows 7 alone, the Internet access is connected by wireless to the Router, and runs well but when I start Windows XP Mode, the Intel 21140-based PCI Fast Ethernet, complains if the Ethernet Cable is not plugged in to the Router.When I plug it in, I still get no Internet connectivity, the error is Windows cannot obtain an IP Address. How can I have the wireless and ethernet connectivity co-exist together or separately when required.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a host machine (Laptop, Win 7 Home Premium x64) running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on VMWare Workstation 9. I've got this system set up for UMDF driver development, because I need a target machine to debug drivers on. However, because I'm developing drivers for Win 7 (x86 and x64), I cannot connect to the virtual machine on via a simple network connection. Connection methods are outlined here.
I have tried a few different pieces of software (mostly Eltima software), and have Google'd every combination of phrases that I can think of. I can't find any information on this anywhere. I don't just need to share data between the machines, I need a more "physical" connection.
Does any know how to do this, or if there's another (preferably more simple) way of doing it?
I recently acquired a 2509 router that I plan to use as a serial device router. My question is, how do you create the virtual com ports on Windows and Linux machines to point to the TCP address:ports in the 2509 router? Is there software or drivers that do this? Or something third-party?

Most of the time it operates fine but we find sometimes it loses connectivity, both internet connectivity from the machine and access to the machine remotely. This is not acceptable as the machine is operating rather critical processes and ideally it should be available 100% of the time.
I cannot determine if the fault lies with Windows, the router or the network.

Sure all of you have heard of the setup button and how to use it, its obvious Windows 7 / Vista do not properly recieve the DHCP, maybe an issue with the some new Microsoft legislation, the install address of the device in its setup phase, which you can read by the setup led burning steadily is 169.254.0.1
You wont be able to connect to this address in Windows 7 / Vista if you configure it statically, you will be able to view the Gratituous ARP from the Device using Wireshark, in the Windows 7 / Vista network adapter tci/ip v4 settings click on the advanced tab, there enter 169.254.0.1 as the default gateway, press the Setup button on the switch, wait for it to blink, connect your utp cable to port 1 check that the Setup LED is burning stable, type 169.254.0.1 into your web browser and enter a management IP address for the switch, alternatively use Cisco Network Assistant.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a home network with an Actiontec Q1000 providing me 20 meg down and 5 meg up speeds. The DSL modem supports DHCP, DMZ, port forwarding, application forwarding, filtering, etc. I have an existing network 192.168.0.x that uses a combination of DHCP and static IP addresses for printers, scanners, and servers.I just purchased a RVS4000 and configured its LAN port to accept a DHCP address. It received the .26 address. I set up application and port forwarding so all VPN traffic goes to this address. I also put the router in the DMZ and turned off all firewalls.On the LAN side of the RVS4000 I use the 192.168.1.x address and have the 4000 provide DHCP addresses. I have a PC connected to the LAN port and it has the address of 1.100. I am able to use TeamViewer to connect to this through the internet and I can also access the devices on the Actiontec network from the PC connected to the 4000.I set up the VPN as best I could while going through appendix B of the admin guide. When I am at a remote location and use the QuickVPN client to access the 4000 I get the message, "The remote gateway is not responding. Do you want to wait?'. When I look at the log everything looks good except I get the following error:

I am unable to get a DHCP address for my remote PC and am unable to ping any device on either network. What do I have configured wrong that this is not working?I only purchased this so I can use the VPN. Is the VPN established on the Actiontec LAN or on the RVS4000 LAN side? I am obviously connecting to the 4000 but am just not getting an address so I can not use my home office network for all my communications.
I have an HP G60-530US laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I bought a Linksys AE1200 USB Wireless Network Adapter because the laptop stopped recognizing the internal wireless adapter. However, when I use the CD that came with the Linksys adapter to install it, the adapter is not detected. I have tried different USB ports and also power-cycling the router & cable modem & rebooting. Nothing seems to work. I also ran the Setup program on my Gateway DX4860 desktop but the Linksys AE1200 is not detected on the desktop, either.

When I get to the certificate error and hit the "yes, i understand, continue", it comes back with a 'can't be reached' page and looking into the details says the 'connection was dropped'. However If I connect from a MacBook / safari, I'm able to reach the page fine (and admin the router).
Using a wrt610n.I am connected to the router, the ip address hasn't changed, the password hasn't changed.I can use the router & connect to the internet.I have the router set to require HTTPS, but switching it to allow HTTP doesn't work. Both Wired & Wireless Win 7 / IE9 machines can't connect.Tried setting the router ip address to 'trusted' zone in IE. Tried setting the router ip address to the 'compatibility' mode in IE.
