Cisco :: Upgrade LMS Windows 3.2 To Virtual Appliance 4.1?
Sep 5, 2011
currently have LMS 3.2 on a Windows server. I'd like to upgrade to 4.1 on a virtual appliance. I don't care about migrating data and would probably like to just start fresh. My question is If I were to download the 4.1 evaluation virtual appliance and also purchase the 3.2 to 4.1 upgrade license would I be able to apply that license to the evaluation?
We have an ACE Appliance in a DMZ and the ACE Appliance's Admin Context IP is translated between ACE and ANM. The ANM Server does not get translated. It is just the opposite then in another Community discussion.
Our Problem: When adding the ACE4710 Appliance to the ANM imported Device List, we use the ACE's NATed Admin Context IP. Import works well, but ANM reflects the Admin Context IP with it's real configured IP. Polling the ACE Appliance does not work therefore.
Is there a possibility of telling the ANM, that the ACE has to be polled through a NATed IP? I could not find a field to set a NATed Mgmt IP.
Configured IP on ACE Admin Context: 192.168.0.10 NATed ACE Admin Context IP: 172.16.0.10
Imported ACE with IP 172.16.0.10 into ANM, but ANM polls for Rserver, Vserver, Probes, etc. via 192.168.0.10 - which is not reachable from the ANM.
We have an ANM Virtual Appliance, version 5.2, were we login and can go no further. This was working for fine for approximately two and half weeks. We created a backup and re-loaded the system via CLI with the same result. We logged in again via SSH and we have noted the following:
cscoanmsa/admin# sh disk temp. space 4% used (141244 of 4951688) disk: 7% used (353916 of 5935604) Internal filesystems: warning - /var is 100% used (89219000 of 89258112) cscoanmsa/admin# sh application status ANM
[code]....
Is there any way to access and clean out the /var directory from the CLI. is this achieved simply via the "delete" command with the full path ?
I am low on available disk space to perform backups on my LMS 4.2 installation. Is there a way to force the appliance to recognize the increased disk space allocated by ESX VMware?
The upgrade process for ANM virtual appliance 4.2 involves doing a backup and restore as root user. I have looked through the documentation and have even reinstalled the virtual appliance to see if the install script gives away the root password for the OS but without luck.
trying to get my ducks in a row for replacing a Cisco 5510 and a Barracuda Link Balancer with a virtual pfSense appliance. This is partially due to eliminating support contract costs (nearly $3k annually between both appliance) and partially to utilize the redundancy and fault tolerance that our virtual environment can provide. I'm also implementing a colo site for replication/DR this year so doing a tunnel from site to site would make it a lot easier with like for like virtual appliance firewalls.
The VPN aspect. We are currently doing Cisco VPN with Radius auth on the back end, this is seamless to setup from an end user perspective as they just hit a URL, download/install the ANyConnect client, and log in with their credentials. Is there a comparable alternative in pfSense? I'm leaning toward IPsec but it still doesn't seem as seamless as what we currently have in the ASA.
I try to upgrade LMS 4.2 to LMS 4.2.1 on a soft appliance and i got this error. To upgrade from LMS 4.2 to LMS 4.2.1:
lms/admin# conf t lms/admin(config)# repository myrepo lms/admin(config-Repository)# url disk://opt lms/admin(config-Repository)# end lms/admin# application upgrade Cisco_Prime_LAN_Management_Solution_4_2_1upgrade.tar.gz myrepo Save the ADE-OS running configuration?(yes/no) [yes]? yes Generating configuration... Saved the ADE-OS running configuration to startup successfully Initiating Application Upgrade... % Local file not found lms/admin#
Can't see this in the documentation, as only Solaris to soft appliance is mentioned, so does anyone know if you can migrate data from LMS 4.0.1 on Windows 2008 to the soft appliance on LMS 4.1?
The problem is that i had configured the ACS appliance with a remote agent to Integrate with Microsoft active directory and I installed that agent on one of our domain controls and it is working fine.
When I installed another agent on anther domain control and add it to the ACS server it appear that the remote authentication service is working on it but when try to make the new agent the primary and the old one the secondary from External database configuration all the domain users authenticated but only to one group which configured in Unknown User Policy. It appeared like it can't read any more groups from active directory.
I am running windows based acs 3.3 in my lan environment going to be replaced with acs 1120 appliance running acs 4.2.1.15 , ACS 3.3 database has been built upto 4.2.0.124 ,step by step by upgrade process
now my database is with 4.2.0.124 dmp file , I cannot upgrade my database to 4.2.1.15 because 4.2.1.15 patch is not applicable & executable on 90 days evalution package of 4.2.0.124 of windows platform .
can i import my windows based 4.2.0.124 datbase directly to my acs appliance running 4.2.1.15.3 ??? , else its requires any step to be done to modify the windows based databse matching to appliance windows verison once .
I could see on appliance under restore settings the following options (restore from 4.2.0 backup file to acs 4.2.1)
I want to setup LAMP on Virtual Box on Windows 7. I am wondering if it is possible to (regular cable modem from ISP connected to desktop through ethernet port, dynamic IP)
1) Connect from Windows7 to Linux (Apache, MySQL-server, etc...)
2) Connect from Linux to the Internet
3) Connect from Windows 7 to the Internet ...all at the same time?
I have two Windows 7 computers and neither one will successfully upgrade a 1242 AP to LWAP. However, I go to a coworker's XP machine and run the tool without issues. On Windows 7 I keep receiving the error message of ACL or Firewall is blocking. I have added rules and then even tried disabling the firewalls completely on both computers and still no success.
I have 64bit Windows7 Professional OS, and have installed Windows XP Mode, I have a wireless and ethernet-capable Router. My HP PC has both wireless and ethernet connection capability. When running Windows 7 alone, the Internet access is connected by wireless to the Router, and runs well but when I start Windows XP Mode, the Intel 21140-based PCI Fast Ethernet, complains if the Ethernet Cable is not plugged in to the Router. When I plug it in, I still get no Internet connectivity, the error is Windows cannot obtain an IP Address. How can I have the wireless and ethernet connectivity co-exist together or separately when required.
I have installed 4 virtual machines using virtualbox on a windows 7 host and i'm searching how i could connect them so as they can communicate each other.
I recently acquired a 2509 router that I plan to use as a serial device router. My question is, how do you create the virtual com ports on Windows and Linux machines to point to the TCP address:ports in the 2509 router? Is there software or drivers that do this? Or something third-party?
I have a host machine (Laptop, Win 7 Home Premium x64) running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on VMWare Workstation 9. I've got this system set up for UMDF driver development, because I need a target machine to debug drivers on. However, because I'm developing drivers for Win 7 (x86 and x64), I cannot connect to the virtual machine on via a simple network connection. Connection methods are outlined here.
I have tried a few different pieces of software (mostly Eltima software), and have Google'd every combination of phrases that I can think of. I can't find any information on this anywhere. I don't just need to share data between the machines, I need a more "physical" connection.
Does any know how to do this, or if there's another (preferably more simple) way of doing it?
While LMS 4.0 is supported on Windows 2003, it appears that LMS 4.1 is not, per release notes. Is that a hard and fast rule? Will 4.1 install and run on Windows 2003, although not supported? I have 4.0.1 running on Windows 2003 and would like to upgrade to 4.1 but cannot upgrade to Windows 2008 at this time.
Im getting a bit confused about the whole upgrade migration process for the following config to Cisco Prime Infrastructure:
LMS - Version 4.1 , 500 devices. Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard SP1 NCS – version 1.1 , 50 devices Red Hat Linux ( 64 Bit) (Installation software - NCS-VA-1.0.1.4-small.ova)
I want to be able to backup databases and migrate licensing from LMS and NCS to one platform.
I've been using ZYXEL PLA-401 v1 Homeplug adapters for years to connect various devices to my router for a "more stable" than wireless connection. This worked fine in my last house, connecting a switch in our office to the router. We've now moved and I have got some more homeplug adapters to make a few other more reliable connections.
Problem is, the new adapters can't see the old adapters on the homeplug network. They can see each other, as can the old ones. I suspect a firmware or network name mismatch - I've tried to change settings on each of them but the Zyxel utility doesn't appear to do much. I can't set the DAK names, nor can I change the network names. The firmware update utility doesn't work on Windows 7 (gives a cannot find Windows path error).
using the Zyxel configuration utility and firmware upgrade tool on Windows 7 / Ubuntu?
I get the message "unidentified network - no internet access" on my computer since my upgrade to Windows 8. I'm using an Actiontec GT704-WG DSL modem/router connected to an ASUS M4A79XTD-EVO motherboard. I can get wireless access to my computer - a desktop - from the modem but not from the cabled DSL. Wireless is slower and less reliable it seems
i upgraded my laptop from window 7 home to windows 7 unlitmate and the wireless network adapter has been removed is there a link i can download to re install it so that i can connect wireless again?
I have a Vostro 3300, which was working very well, and when I upgraded my OS from Win7 to Win8 my internet speed through wireless connection became very low, I checked for a driver update but did not find any that is compatible with windows 8. I also tried some old Windows 7 drivers with and without "compatibility Mode" but still not working. I should also mention that when I connect to the internet through Ethernet, I get the full speed.
I just updated my OS from Windows 7 to 8, and I bought a new Galaxy S 3. Nobody seems to be ready for Windows 8 functionality. I don't know how to find the bluetooth feature of my laptop anymore now that I have windows 8 installed. My phone scans for it, and can no longer find it.
I have connected my phone to the laptop, it installs the phone, but cannot find the photos and videos that I have on my phone, even thought there are tons of them.
I thought perhaps I could Bluetooth them to the laptop, but so far, it's been nothing but a frustrating morning trying to locate the bluetooth function, and Dell's website doesn't seem to understand that people actually upgrade their systems to Windows 8, so there's no support there as far as drivers go.
I've got an Inspiron 17R, conveniently out of warranty, service tag <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>.
After upgrading our Cisco MSE to 7.4, the appliance does not stay connected to the network. Once the appliance is restarted, layer 3 echoes occur for about 2 minutes and then stop. The only way to get it to respond again, is to restart the appliance. Again, after a few minutes, it stops responding. I've checked the switch, and there is no port security set up on it. I've checked ACL's, and other potential culprits to no avail. The MSE interface is set up, and the device is configured.
I'm currently trying to install the Cisco LMS 4.2 Appliance on a VMware vSphere 4.0 environment.I'm following the [URL]. I downloaded the Cisco_Prime_LAN_Management_Solution_4_2.iso and I started the server.I get this screen and I choose option 1:
All users are located in the local identity store. So - assume I do not implement ACS but I do turn on password expiration after 60 or 90 days. Will a user whose password is about to expire attempts to authenticate against ACS 5.2, will they be notified that their password is about to expire? Also, when a user attempts to authenticate but their password expired yesterday, will they be prompted to change it and if so, how will that prompt to change it be presented?
A while back we were looking into upgrading our SUN/Oracle server to better service our CiscoWorks. Our vendor (partnered Cisco Vendor) told us that Cisco was developing an appliance like WCS and CNR that runs Redhat for CiscoWorks.Does any one have any info on this or could this be a rumor?
We do not run Windows devices on any of our network enterprise and this would be so cool!
Oracle is getting to be a clone of Windows..in our opinion
If this is true, I will happy to sit and wait for it.
We now run LMS 4.0 on a SUN/Oracle T2000 and it seems to be bottlenecking.
