WiFI networks could be detected when installed for the first time but after a shutdown it never detects again. Sometimes it randomly detects, I tried using the laptop for 2 weeks now and only 2 times the WiFI automatically came up.
There is a switch to pull after turning on WiFI radio, which will display the list of WiFi networks in a window, that Switch is not responding now.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been asked to install a ASA5505 on a home network. The home network has a home broadband connection which the ISP provider supplies with an IP address. This is only for 6 weeks until the new line comes in. I know this is going to cause problems but we have no choice but to impletment this.
My questions are below.
1, We have a home hub supplied by the ISP which is configured by an IP address which is NOT static. Can we not use the ASA 5505 instead. I know that if our ISP change the IP address we have to change the IP address on the 5505.
2, Will we be able to use the home network broadband to create a secure connection?
I have seen this at two sites now: after migrating the site T1 to 10-Mbps Opt-E-MAN and replacing old 10/100 switches with 10/100/1000 switches, users frequently get http connection errors. The error goes away if the user reloads the page--sometimes they have to reload more than once. They never had this problem before.I thought it was due to the large number of 5-port desktop switches infesting the networks (I'm getting rid of them as fast as I can) but it happens even on a PC directly connected to one of the new GigE switches. It does not happen when accessing internal web pages. It looks like a DNS failure -- but nothing has changed in our DNS setup, except that users have a fatter pipe to our DNS servers.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a LAN adapter and a USB wireless internet connection. When both connected windows 7 always uses the USB. I tried changing the metric values but no luck. Currently automatic metric on all adapters.LAN connected. ipconfig shows that it is connected to the correct ip/dns/gateway etc. IPv4 Route table shows Metric 24 Then connected USB. ipconfig shows USB connectivity then LAN in that order. Internet is now through USB. IPv4 Route table shows Metric 4249 for LAN and USB is 41. Gateway for USB shows "on-link". netstat -rn shows USBDEVICE on top.Changed LAN metric to 5 and now the route table shows LAN as 9 (not sure why it added 4) and USB as 41.
Netstat shows LAN then USB. ipconfig shows LAN then USB.But still connection is through USB. How do I know? Task manager shows utilization only through USB as well as speed is showing around 1mbps rather than LANs 10mbps. How can I get win7 use LAN while USB is connected. I am just trying to use USB as a backup just in case I lose LAN connection.I thought i will make USB metric manually to say 10. But it says I have to reconnect for it to be effective. Currently USB still shows below LAN and still has 9 and 41 in the table.Disconnected USB. Table shows LAN metric as 24 (Not sure why it got changed from 9 and setting got reverted by to automatic)Reconnected USB. Now in the setting still shows 10 and the route table shows 11 for USB and LAN shows 4249 (settings shows 4245, 4 less))For some reason restarting USB is resetting LAN setting when reconnected.

I newly installed win 7 in 2 pc's. I had used the internet connection sharing when I had Win xp installed in them before. So I gave the static IP address,192.168.0.1 to the pc with the internet connection, and had the other pc obtained the IP address automatically. File sharing works fine, but somehow the 2nd PC could not be connected to the internet. When I checked its connection details, the Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address was 169.254.224.63. I think this IP address should be something like 192.168.0.xxx, but it's configured to auto, so I can't really do anything right now
