I just opened a Minecraft server, and want to change some of the settings using FTP. I'm using Filezilla as recommended by ClanForge, and every time I try to connect to the server I get the message 'Waiting for welcome message...' and then it says 'Connection timed out, could not connect to server'.
View 1 RepliesI have set up a filezilla server, and connected to it, and was able to access my files in the main drive (C:/), but at this point the unsolvable problem for me has to do with being able to access multiple drives wirelessly.Filezilla's FAQ says it has to do with aliases, etc, but when I tried this, my main drive dissappeared and I was only able to access the alias drive.All I wanted to do was back my Android's content up to my computer. From what I understand, FTP is a good way to do this. Let me ask you something....is it possible to upload stuff to my computer's ftp server even without being connected to the same wifi network?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've installed XAMPP on one of my Vista computers, and intend to use it as a server. The internal IP address of the server is A.B.C.D. The internal IP address of the DIR-615 is A.B.C.E. whatsmyip.com says that external address of the server is F.G.H.I (and so is everything else inside my network). I have Filezilla listening on port 21. I've turned Windows Firewall completely off on the server, and my ISP (Time Warner / Road Runner) says that they never block any port.I tried going to the DIR-615 using Port Forwarding, and set ports 21 & 90 to forward to A.B.C.D, for both UDP & TCP, Allow All, Always. That didn't work.I tried going to the DIR-615 using Virtual Server. I set a virtual server on port 21 to A.B.C.D, for both UDP & TCP, Allow All, Always. It made me turn off Port Forwarding, and it wouldn't let me use both 21 & 90 on the same rule, so made two rules. That didn't work either.
I tried setting A.B.C.D as a DMZ host. That still didn't work.I can ftp connect into A.B.C.D from one of the other computers in the network. People outside the network can't connect to F.G.H.I. I can't connect to F.G.H.I. from inside the network. The same is true of Apache (but ports 80, 81 & 443), Ventrilo (but ports 3784 & 6100) and MySQL (but port 3306). I figure that FTP is the easiest to test, so I've been just trying to get that to work.In FileZilla Server Options, I am bound to *, I have no filters, and my passive mode is set to "Retrieve external IP"As far as I can tell, if I've ruled out anything inside my network (by connecting internally), and I've ruled out my ISP (they don't block), then it must be the router. I think I've done port forwarding according to [URL], and it seems like it should be easy, but I've been trying forever and I can never get it to work.
I am trying to access ip host using filezilla ftp but getting the error 425 cant open data connection error: Failed to retrieve directory listing.i presume its because the host is inside a firewall.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to FTP into my server at home, which is running Filezilla server, and I try to connect via my Filezilla client, it gives me:"425 Can't open data connection.". I see this error on the client side and on the server side and on the client side, its not listing the directory.However, when I go and connect via SmartFTP, I sat on Google for about half an hour trying to find this problem out, went through the wiki, I know it isn't my router (I'm running pfSense). My NAT configs and firewall exceptions and port forwarding are all configured correctly. This just seems like a problem with Filezilla itself. The Filezilla Client can't connect to the Filezilla server but yet SmartFTP, as well as a friend of mine using FTPX can connect just fine.I can remote in via VNC, VPN in and contact my proxy server just fine from the outside.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI made an html main page linked to other html pages on my hard disk using dreamweaver and I saved the images in different directories. all the html pages and the images directories are saved under one directory. then I got connected to my FTP host (which I registered) using filezilla and the connection was successful. then I uploaded the one whole directory containing the pages and images into the root directory in filezilla (when I got connected to my host there was no directories, only the root "/"). but still when I try opening my page by typing url..." in the browser I don't get the page I designed. I tried placing the main html page with its images on the main root in filezilla but the problem is still same. what could be the problem, do I have to do anything else besides uploading the files with filezilla?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just started an FTP server in a mac server os x 10.6.4.There is no firewall in my ZyXEL router. There is just a security tab under Advance Setup which lets me set up some filter rules. Since I have not marked the ftp rule, the ftp is supposed to be not blocked from the WAN to the LAN.Moreover, I have created an entry in the NAT section of the router which maps the 21 port to the local IP of the mac server os x 10.6.4 which is running the FTP server.Furthermore, the firewall in the mac server os x 10.6.4 is not started (gray color on the corresponding line in the Server admin->settings->Firewall in the left column of the window) so that should not be a problem to get a connection to the FTP server in the mac.
I have connected successfully from a local computer in the same lan to the FTP server. However I am still unable to connect to the FTP server from the outside of the LAN by using the WAN static IP address of the router which gives internet access for the mac. How to be able to connnect to the ftp server from the outside of the LAN?I am using filezilla client to connect to the ftp server from both the inside and the outside of the Lan with the same settings but it just works from the inside so far.

I'm not super knowledgeable when it comes to the technical side of networking, but I know enough to look around the modems GUI and recognize when something isn't right. I'm pretty sure this is not a problem on my end, but I'd like to hear a few other peoples opinions. Basically I have four lights on the modem: Power, Ethernet, DSL, and Internet. DSL is the light that indicates connection to the PPPoE server, and lately it will just randomly drop. I've never experienced problems connecting with the PPPoE server until just recently. Every once in a while my Internet light will drop, and a simple reset will take care of it, but rarely am I ever not connected to the PPPoE server. One day it was down for three or so hours, one day for nine, another day it cut in and out for about four hours, and today was another nine hour day. how it works is that my username and password are verified through the ISPs PPPoE server, and then I am granted access to the web. I'm lead to believe that it's nothing on my end because all troubleshooting methods fail, it just randomly fixes itself several hours later. The first nine hour stretch I experienced I thought may have been because of maintenance or some other unforeseen circumstance, but it has happened a few times now so I'm not too sure. My provider, Earthlink, hasn't listed any 'Known Outages' on their site, but then again they never do.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I'm having issues with connecting to the internet. I'm connected to the network but cannot browse the internet or play online games. Currently I'm on my housemates laptop. None of my house mates are having issues. My computer is a laptop and connects to the internet wirelessly. I don't have a cable to try connecting straight to the router unfortunately.
Last night my internet provider (Time Warner) did an update that caused all their networks to change their names/passwords. My house mate got the new name and password and when I used it it worked fine for several hours. While in the middle of a game, my internet and my housemates internet stopped working for no reason. Theirs are fine now, mine is still having issues.
I have reset the router, restarted my computer, and looked into some DNS stuff. I've done the commands ipconfig /flushdns along with ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew. I also changed my preferred DNS server to 8.8.8.8 for my Internet Protocol (TCP/IPv4) and that did not work. (edit: also tried 208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220. No luck there either)
I've tried turning off my firewalls and connecting but that doesn't work.

This isn't the first time I've had the issue also this is about the 5th time its happened and the first few times I was able to simply Configure my laptop to an earlier date and it went away or restarting but not anymore, last month it happened and it took two weeks of not messing with my laptop for it to go away.I have two other computers that are desktops that can connect to the internet still just my laptop wont no interweb love for my laptop T-T.

I have done the following:
Changed workgroup name to same as the rest of the terminals.Changed computer name to same as my previous computer in the network.Previous computer read only chosen username (+ password) when accessing.This new computer reads both computernamechosen username (+ password) when trying to access.
I suspect that username is not approved due to "double-name" ?
Cannot connect with Primary DNS server(84.13.241.126)I have recently got broadband in my new flat. We managed to get my xbox connected and my laptop connected via the wifi which was great, but my girlfriends laptop came up with the error message:Cannot connect with Primary DNS server(84.13.241.126)I found another thread with a similar problem and stuck in a DNS sever address the same as our IP address which is as above but still it didn't have any effect.It also mentioned Network Diagnostics pinged the remote host but did not recieve a response. I upload files to the FTP server and some of the folders I didn't have access to, so I had to call the company server tech to allow me permission. He said he never created any restrictions on the account when he made it (Which he probably did, just forgot,because I use another unrelated FTP server with no problems.) So he made a new account for me to log into, at the very moment I typed in the login info (FileZilla) it said could not connect. So I went to input my old login into, still didn't connect. At that point on the whole website for me just results in a "Could Not Load Page blah blah".Doesn't work on any browser. Doesn't work on any computer on my wireless network, or a laptop hardwired to the modem.
Works on my friends connection at his house, works on my iPhone's 3G connection, but not on my wireless network. So basically it works everywhere in the world but my house. Which is great because I work for them and I need to have files uploaded by the end of each day. I have told the server techs and they said they didn't do anything but make a new account. I did all the DNS and IP crap, I refreshed the caches, ran a disk cleaner/ defragger. I get some interesting results when running tracerts and pings. I CAN view the site through a proxy.ALSO, they told me their servers crashed overnight because of some solar flare just a few days ago. So the site WAS down for a few hours, but when it came back online, it wouldn't load for me.
I think its unrelated because I lost access before their servers crashed the following night, just letting you know that happened.My connection is fine, chatted with AT&T they said everything looks fine on my end in the router settings. Which should be correct because I've been years on this router with no problems at all. Everything works flawlessly. (Steam downloads, YouTube, I've been gaming on Portal 2 Co-Op and Battlefield 3, 64 players!) So it's nothing to do with me. I did notice that uploads took a little longer than usual to initiate, but a SpeedTest confirmed the connection was solid and at my level. Just took a few seconds to "start" uploading.

If the computer is set to workgroup there is no problem. The problem comes up when its a domain based server.I keep getting the message that the user is logged in. The host computer connecting to the server has the user name "thinclient" and I use the name "user" to log in from the thin client. But it says "thinclient" already in use and disconnect my connection between the host and the server.

But if I give them 5 or 10 minutes they will come. Imkmow that this isn't a normal up issue with sites servers actually being down. I thought it was a Google chrome issue, but it's been happening on safari. It hasn't started till we switched our Internet plan to 3mbps and a new router.
