Jan 19, 2011I just started an FTP server in a mac server os x 10.6.4.There is no firewall in my ZyXEL router. There is just a security tab under Advance Setup which lets me set up some filter rules. Since I have not marked the ftp rule, the ftp is supposed to be not blocked from the WAN to the LAN.Moreover, I have created an entry in the NAT section of the router which maps the 21 port to the local IP of the mac server os x 10.6.4 which is running the FTP server.Furthermore, the firewall in the mac server os x 10.6.4 is not started (gray color on the corresponding line in the Server admin->settings->Firewall in the left column of the window) so that should not be a problem to get a connection to the FTP server in the mac.
I have connected successfully from a local computer in the same lan to the FTP server. However I am still unable to connect to the FTP server from the outside of the LAN by using the WAN static IP address of the router which gives internet access for the mac. How to be able to connnect to the ftp server from the outside of the LAN?I am using filezilla client to connect to the ftp server from both the inside and the outside of the Lan with the same settings but it just works from the inside so far.

Sep 25, 2011I have a ZyXel P-660R-D1 DSL modem, and lately I've been experiencing random outages. I'm not super knowledgeable when it comes to the technical side of networking, but I know enough to look around the modems GUI and recognize when something isn't right. I'm pretty sure this is not a problem on my end, but I'd like to hear a few other peoples opinions. Basically I have four lights on the modem: Power, Ethernet, DSL, and Internet. DSL is the light that indicates connection to the PPPoE server, and lately it will just randomly drop. I've never experienced problems connecting with the PPPoE server until just recently. Every once in a while my Internet light will drop, and a simple reset will take care of it, but rarely am I ever not connected to the PPPoE server. One day it was down for three or so hours, one day for nine, another day it cut in and out for about four hours, and today was another nine hour day. how it works is that my username and password are verified through the ISPs PPPoE server, and then I am granted access to the web. I'm lead to believe that it's nothing on my end because all troubleshooting methods fail, it just randomly fixes itself several hours later. The first nine hour stretch I experienced I thought may have been because of maintenance or some other unforeseen circumstance, but it has happened a few times now so I'm not too sure. My provider, Earthlink, hasn't listed any 'Known Outages' on their site, but then again they never do.

Feb 8, 2012So I'm having issues with connecting to the internet. I'm connected to the network but cannot browse the internet or play online games. Currently I'm on my housemates laptop. None of my house mates are having issues. My computer is a laptop and connects to the internet wirelessly. I don't have a cable to try connecting straight to the router unfortunately.
Last night my internet provider (Time Warner) did an update that caused all their networks to change their names/passwords. My house mate got the new name and password and when I used it it worked fine for several hours. While in the middle of a game, my internet and my housemates internet stopped working for no reason. Theirs are fine now, mine is still having issues.
I have reset the router, restarted my computer, and looked into some DNS stuff. I've done the commands ipconfig /flushdns along with ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew. I also changed my preferred DNS server to 8.8.8.8 for my Internet Protocol (TCP/IPv4) and that did not work. (edit: also tried 208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220. No luck there either)
I've tried turning off my firewalls and connecting but that doesn't work.

This isn't the first time I've had the issue also this is about the 5th time its happened and the first few times I was able to simply Configure my laptop to an earlier date and it went away or restarting but not anymore, last month it happened and it took two weeks of not messing with my laptop for it to go away.I have two other computers that are desktops that can connect to the internet still just my laptop wont no interweb love for my laptop T-T.

Jul 14, 2012I upload files to the FTP server and some of the folders I didn't have access to, so I had to call the company server tech to allow me permission. He said he never created any restrictions on the account when he made it (Which he probably did, just forgot,because I use another unrelated FTP server with no problems.) So he made a new account for me to log into, at the very moment I typed in the login info (FileZilla) it said could not connect. So I went to input my old login into, still didn't connect. At that point on the whole website for me just results in a "Could Not Load Page blah blah".Doesn't work on any browser. Doesn't work on any computer on my wireless network, or a laptop hardwired to the modem.
Works on my friends connection at his house, works on my iPhone's 3G connection, but not on my wireless network. So basically it works everywhere in the world but my house. Which is great because I work for them and I need to have files uploaded by the end of each day. I have told the server techs and they said they didn't do anything but make a new account. I did all the DNS and IP crap, I refreshed the caches, ran a disk cleaner/ defragger. I get some interesting results when running tracerts and pings. I CAN view the site through a proxy.ALSO, they told me their servers crashed overnight because of some solar flare just a few days ago. So the site WAS down for a few hours, but when it came back online, it wouldn't load for me.
I think its unrelated because I lost access before their servers crashed the following night, just letting you know that happened.My connection is fine, chatted with AT&T they said everything looks fine on my end in the router settings. Which should be correct because I've been years on this router with no problems at all. Everything works flawlessly. (Steam downloads, YouTube, I've been gaming on Portal 2 Co-Op and Battlefield 3, 64 players!) So it's nothing to do with me. I did notice that uploads took a little longer than usual to initiate, but a SpeedTest confirmed the connection was solid and at my level. Just took a few seconds to "start" uploading.

Feb 28, 2011I am trying to connect some thin clients to a domain based windows 2003 server. This the first time mi trying to do this. If the computer is set to workgroup there is no problem. The problem comes up when its a domain based server.I keep getting the message that the user is logged in. The host computer connecting to the server has the user name "thinclient" and I use the name "user" to log in from the thin client. But it says "thinclient" already in use and disconnect my connection between the host and the server.

Mar 26, 2013I have a client using a Dell Poweredge SC440 server. About a month ago the system crashedfter some detailed checking I found it had burned some caps. on the motherboard. I replaced the motherboard & had to reinstall SBS 2003. Since doing this I can't get the server network card to connect. The machine does have 2 NIC's one for the server & one for the internet, neither of which will connect. I believe I have the IP address of both cards incorrect. Could someone tell me what the correct IP addresses (all of them) should be for a new install of SBS 2003? I know the IP address of the router & the service provider (AT&T), but these don't work. I do have a printout of the server when it was originally setup but it only give the server IP which is 192.168.2.1 I have put this address in the IP of the card but don't know what goes in the default gateway nor the perfered DNS
