i have a new smc router and my local ip address and remote ip addresses are very similar. The remote ip address is updating my dns server but i am unable to ping it. Its something like 122.61.xxx.1 ?

I have deploy a IIS Server on Windows2008 and configure the Static IP on that server. earlier it was working fine . but since last month the IP is not pinging from Out Side but internal IP Pool its working. I have checked the SERver firewall and another Setting is Ok. if i changed the Ip from the server the new IP is also not pinging.

Main router Sky router IP is 192.168.0.1 - Currently the port number is 8081.Secondary router Dlink IP is 192.168.0.2 (Static ip) - currently the port number is 8080.I have tried to configure the ports but it just dont want to open. Ive tried to open the ports on main netgear and tried all the option my dlink for port forwarding. i must be missing something fundametal here.

Another port is connected to a switch to which ethernet cables to three other rooms are connected. My problem is that when I connect my Bell PVR (9242) to the 'switched' ethernet cable, I'm apparently not able to get a dynamic ip address, which the Bell unit requires, and can't connect to the network.can I connect another router, in place of the switch, to deliver dynamic IP addresses to whatever I connect to the ports in the other rooms in my house?

Because in HQ LAN network I have some development servers, to which guys from branch office need to have acces, I decided to setup VPN site-to-site between HQ and branch office. Everything went quite smoothly, on both devices I see, that ipsec connection is established. Unfortunately I am not able to ping resources from one network to other one and vice versa. I ve read, that Cisco routers/switches drop the entries of their ARP cache after 4 hours and of the MAC cache after 5 minutes (in the defaults).Question: What is the regular way, to update the MAC cache when moving to another location in the network?(Background: My device is a hand-held device, and we have problems to get access to it from a terminal server in another network, when connecting the hand-held device at different locations.) One approach is to send in a fix interval a arp-ping to the gateway, or trigger the ping by the interface-up.How do other devices handles this problem? (Or do they ignore it, because the most will stay on its location/port their whole live?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have two computers side by side 192.168.1.7 and 192.168.1.8 both running xp pro sp3. On 8 I can RDC to the 7, but on 7 I cannot RDC to 8. I can see port 3389 listening on both using netstat -a. But 7 just can't RDC connect to 8. 7 cannot ping 8 either. I have the firewall turned off on 8, I had tried allowing RDC 3389 earlier with the firewall but that didn't work either.I don't have any extra firewalls running.Life will be like perfect, if I can just RDC to 8.Both are on the same wired belkin wireless router, 4' from itl.I tried taking the no ping no rdc computer to work and it didn't work there either.
View 19 Replies View RelatedWe have a VPN using 857 and 877 routers as remote connecting in to a 2800 EZVPN Server.
The VPN is working fine. However, the VPN connections sometimes (after a few hours/days) seem to "freeze". A "show crypt sess" shows the connections as Up/Active, but you can not ping antyhing from remote to server, or visa versa, nor does any traffic flow. I then added a "isakmp keep-alive" on the 2800, which improved the situation a bit, but not as much as I hoped.
On the 877 I then implemented a IP SLA, with Object Tracking and then use a Event Manager to just issue a "clear crypto session" . This solved the problem.
However, what do I do on the 857 ? It does not support Object Tracking or the Event Manager. Is there any other mechanism to monitor and reset these frozen/stale VPN connections automatically ?
I am in a test environment using an ASA 55005 and a Cisoc 2611xm router. ASA is running version 8.4 and router is running is ios12.4. My VPN tunnel comes up but I am unable to ping between remote hosts. I used the ASDM and SDM for the configuration. Attached is a copy of both configs.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to setup my home network so that I can access it when away from home but I've ran into problems and I can't figure out what is causing the problem.I've setup the router to forward incoming requests on port 80 to be directed to my PC running WAMP. The PC has a static IP and if I access it from another PC on my network I get the WAMP page load as expected.I've also setup an account with no-ip.com to resolve my (dynamic) ip. If I use the address they have setup while I'm on my network I get the login page for the router, again this is what I expect.The problem begins when I try and access my home address (whatever.no-ip.biz) from outside my network. I've tried it from 2 different locations and via a dial-up account and I get nothing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a RVS4000 with client VPNs setup and have created all 5 users......trouble I run into is that when one of the users attempts to connect to the VPN from a second device (ie the sixth device to connect to the VPN), the connection does not establish....cannot ping remote server (using QuickVPN). In looking at the logs, the device that isn't working is getting a different IP (172.16 vs 192.168). I know I'm limited to 5 users, but am I limited to 5 devices as well?
View 2 Replies View Related i have a site to site vpn stablished, the vpn works fine (while is up), i have a cisco asa 5520 and the other end of the vpn is a jupiter device that for technical reasons needs to send a continuos ping and when it does not receive a reponse back it brings down the vpn tunnel and reestablish it again. while the vpn is up traffic flows perfectly but because i m unable to repond to the ping the vpn is brought down as reestablished by the jupiter device. the jupiter device pings the encryption domain which is an ip that is natted to the real ip in the inside network. this is my configuration of the vpn:
AAA.AAA.AAA.AAA is the ASA public ip in the outside
BBB.BBB.BBB.BBB is the jupiter device ip (part of the object group IP_LIST)
CCC.CCC.CCC.CCC is the nat ip on the ASA
10.21.0.164 is the real address in the inside(code)
How can I find the name of a remote unix server if the client can only provide me the ip address which they use to connect?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am just setting up a simple scenario with a 1841. Server @ 172.31.1.1 cannot ping 172.31.0.254 or 172.31.0.105. It can ping 172.31.1.250. The router can, on the other hand, ping devices on both networks. This is just for testing routing theory so I don't know why hosts on either side of the network cannot ping each other.
I am only using the FastEthernet interfaces on Router 1841.

The Airport Extreme connects to a switch on the private network and has an IP address ending in .1. The Cisco 871 connects to the same Private network and it ends in .2. The 871 is setup as a VPN Server. now when clients connect to the VPN they can ping the VLan IP Address on the 871, but they can t ping any other hosts on the smae network. The hosts on the private network can ping the vlan on the 871.

Now from switch, I make ping to interface 0 of linux server and i have a reply , every thing is ok but when i type the command :

There is no Mac addresses and seems no Mac address relative to Gi0/6, I mean that doesn't it mandatorty to learn the mac address of linux server and write in mac table relative beside interface Gi0/6 ? How I could ping the server but no mac beside Gi0/6 ?

The web server is working great; I can get to my web pages from outside of my home by going to http://MyIpAddress/Anyway, the problem is with the Windows Media Player plugin I'm using. I want to embed 6GB MPEG-2 videos into my web pages. I have some videos on my PC and I want to be able to watch them remotely by connecting into my web page. It works fine when I'm at home; other PCs can connect and play the videos no problem. The problem is when I'm at work. When I'm at work, I go to my web page (via my IP address in a web browser) and the Media Player plugin says "Connecting" for a minute, then it says Ready, but the video will not play. I tried using a smaller, AVI file (680 MB) instead to see if the problem was streaming such a large file, but the video still would not play.Do I need to foward more ports on my router so that Windows Media Player can connect back and get the information it needs?

I currently have a hyper v lab set up at home with a domain controller/dns server and am thinking of starting a web server on either Apache or IIS on a different virtual machine. I want to point my domain name to my home web server.What do I do I have to do at my domain name registrar? I have to point a type of dns record to my home server's public IP and maybe vice versa.I have a static IP at home. I seem to be able to find a lot of info on Apache and IIS but not a whole lot of info on how your web domain name registrar relates to your own web server . I'm not really interested on IIS or Apache specifics but more interested in the fundamentals of how a domain name registrar (GoDaddy, or any other registrar/host) needs to be pointed to your web server and vice versa. I know a lot of people on forums tend to point to links or tell me to go to google but I find it hard to learn that way.
After trying most things and spending money like water, I still cannot get our home network to be adequate and I am out of options - Tried using two 100MBit/s Netgear routers "bouncing" signal to each other (Wireless Repeating Function). Not ideal as security is small and speed was slow (<10MBit/s) but at least it worked. However these routers had to get pensioned off when we put gigabit ethernet in the office - and the Netgear replacements (a) still have the security limitations with wireless repeating, (b) anyway see to do a worse job of repeating. Tried buying Netgear directional high-gain antennas and directing the signal point to point to a second router - didn't work at all. Tried Powerline (this was in 2008). It sort-of worked but was unreliable and dog slow. I think this is probably not worked by the fact that this building is OLD, most of the wiring is OLD, and anyway the electrical path would take the signal from the 4th floor, down some very old wiring to the ground floor, across a very old switchboard, and back up to the second floor... it's not quite the same as a modern house with modern wiring. Most recently tried using Netgear's Wireless Network Extender. Again, it sort of works, but it's NOT fast at all. In addition there are times when some of our computers using the extension segment of the network are unable to connect - they can still see 3-4 bars of signal, but they cannot get on the network. Appears to be an issue relating to gateway, or DNS, not sure. But I would say about 1 day in 3, when I come home, my wife tells me that the "internet is off".

I have been trying to connect to the Internet via a wireless connection but keep receiving the above error. None of the Windows solutions resolve the problem. On Google Chrome I see a screen saying 'This web page is not available', and receive 'Error 105: Unable to resolve the server's DNS address'. I cannot access Internet Explorer either.The strange this is that this problem only seems to occur with some wireless networks, as I can connect fine at home. In certain places, however, I am told that I am connected but that accss is 'Local Only', and I cannot open any browsers. I need the problem resolved as soon as possible as I cannot access the internet where I need it most.

I am using the Cisco VPN Client 5.0.06.0160 - and am having an issue connecting to my ASA 5510 via VPN. This issue is happening on 1 of our laptops. All other laptops connect just fine. So the problem is not in the ASA. I have double checked the client setup and config and it too is correct. The interesting thing is, we are connecting to an IP Address and not a host name.
