I am connecting a 2600 router to an ISP. Interface 0/0 is connected to the ISP using DHCP. Interface 0/1 is connected to the inside providing DHCP services to the inside. At least it should only be providing DHCP services to the inside. I also have a public static IP that is NAT to a private static IP. Everything is working except the computer on the static IP. From the router I am able to ping inside and out from each interface. I am able to ping both interfaces of the router from the computer on the static IP but I cannot ping outside the router. If I do a debug all I see a reject for the gateway of the static IP but it has “mobile IP” in the text string. Not sure what mobile IP is relating to. Networks are as follows:
0/0 DHCP 10.X.X.X
0/1 192x.x.x
Static 75.X.X.X

I'm trying to setup my home network so that I can access it when away from home but I've ran into problems and I can't figure out what is causing the problem.I've setup the router to forward incoming requests on port 80 to be directed to my PC running WAMP. The PC has a static IP and if I access it from another PC on my network I get the WAMP page load as expected.I've also setup an account with no-ip.com to resolve my (dynamic) ip. If I use the address they have setup while I'm on my network I get the login page for the router, again this is what I expect. The problem begins when I try and access my home address (whatever.no-ip.biz) from outside my network. I've tried it from 2 different locations and via a dial-up account and I get nothing.

What I'm trying to go for is to make a Static IP so that I can forward my ports in order to play certain games. I have had my ports forwarded at one time with a different ISP (in the same area), however they used cable and the company I'm with now uses DSL. The company "Hawaiian Telcom" has provided me with a Motorola 2210 modem/router. I have had trouble trying to create a static IP with this router so (sorry if this was a stupid move) I decided to buy a linksys router to try to port forward with that. When my ports were forwarded with the previous ISP I was using a linksys router then. The now aged linksys router was replaced due to it getting wet, but that's besides the point

For numerous reasons, I want to bind my DHCP clients to static IP addresses, but can't figure out how to do it in DD-WRT.
I've googled, but every link I click times out (for this specific search- my uplink is otherwise fine).
I know I can do it with hardcoded IPs, I'm just curious how static DHCP is done (and yes I am aware that Static is a contradiction in terms of DHCP. I want a given MAC to always get the same IP) and would like to have some info on this.
(call this reserved DHCP if you prefer... )

So I have AT&T U-verse and am teaching myself networking and am wanting to mess around in creating my home network and set up static IPs for my devices. I know how to set them up, but I guess AT&T is saying that they have to allocate the static IPs....pretty much they are saying I have to pay them so they can say ok I can use the IP addresses from xxx-xxx-x-10 to and then depnding on how many I want to have depends on how much I pay. This makes no sense to me. Why should I have to pay my ISP for static IP address, from my understanding those are things

We have a NETGEAR ProSafe™ 802.11g Wireless VPN Firewall FVG318 set up at work with a static IP so we can do a Voice Over IP from our sales office.Everything works fine until I plug in a computer that is connected to our digital printer, then the PC stays on the internet for a while, then crashes the connection.Once I plug in the PC to the network, the rest of the network has issues.

I am in the process of acquiring a static ip address from my isp time Warner. I only want to pay for a single static, but I have a number of machines I want to put on the internet, a web server and a e-mail-server. Using a cisco router, a Cisco Rv 120w. Can I assign the static ip address my isp gave me to the Rv 120w and then crate a vlan to assign addresses to various computers. Or is this something my ISP does. I get the impression from the tech guy at Time Warner that this is something they do.

In my router I can set rule that all traffic incoming to router's extAddr:8888, is forwarded to my intAddr:8888. But I also need reverse rule that packets originating from intAddr:8888 are translated to extAddr:8888. Can I do that? What technique can I search on google to find more information, because it is not port forwarding. I would calll it reverse port forwarding or static port address translation, but I do not find anything useful in internet searching these keywords.

I have a router manufactured by AirTies, the model is Air 4450.This has the capability of being an Access Point in a current network, which is how I want to use it. (Introducing it into my current Sky Broadband network with a Sagem F@ST 2504N router). However, I cannot access the configuration page whatsoever. The manual states the default IP address of the router is 192.168.2.254, so I have set my laptop to a static IP of 192.168.2.100 and patched into LAN port #1 on the rear of the Airties 4450, powered on the unit and cannot access the router at all.I have held down the reset button several times to no avail.how I can configure this unit ?

I've got a server that is connected to the network through one physical ethernet adapter. From my ISP, I got 4 static, public IP adresses, one of which is in use on the Host-Server itself, the remaining three each on a virtualized server. All 4 Servers are running on the same machine.Everything is running smoothly, however, I need to do some Bandwidth Management and Port Mapping, this is why I bought a ZyWall USG20, thinking it would be perfectly capable of doing what I need. is it possible, with a ZyWall USG20, to have all my four IP adresses being forwarded to the one physical machine, and apply some bandwith shaping and port mapping to it?

After trying most things and spending money like water, I still cannot get our home network to be adequate and I am out of options - Tried using two 100MBit/s Netgear routers "bouncing" signal to each other (Wireless Repeating Function). Not ideal as security is small and speed was slow (<10MBit/s) but at least it worked. However these routers had to get pensioned off when we put gigabit ethernet in the office - and the Netgear replacements (a) still have the security limitations with wireless repeating, (b) anyway see to do a worse job of repeating. Tried buying Netgear directional high-gain antennas and directing the signal point to point to a second router - didn't work at all. Tried Powerline (this was in 2008). It sort-of worked but was unreliable and dog slow. I think this is probably not worked by the fact that this building is OLD, most of the wiring is OLD, and anyway the electrical path would take the signal from the 4th floor, down some very old wiring to the ground floor, across a very old switchboard, and back up to the second floor... it's not quite the same as a modern house with modern wiring. Most recently tried using Netgear's Wireless Network Extender. Again, it sort of works, but it's NOT fast at all. In addition there are times when some of our computers using the extension segment of the network are unable to connect - they can still see 3-4 bars of signal, but they cannot get on the network. Appears to be an issue relating to gateway, or DNS, not sure. But I would say about 1 day in 3, when I come home, my wife tells me that the "internet is off".

A while ago internet access was slowed right down for an hour or so. I have a phone line that comes into the house and then into gateway (10.0.0.2) then ethernet from that to linksys wifi router (192.168.1.1). So I did the following ping and repeated what you see below a few times to see that these results were broadly consistent, which was the case. One other person is connected to linksys via ethernet cord and they might have been on at the time. Questions are.... are these results consistent with contention caused by other user on the linksys? and why can I ping gateway but not the router? That makes no sense to me! I am not annoyed with the other person if he is hogging the network...I like him. I just wonder whats going on. When the internet works results from pinging are all as one would expect

I have a wired desktop PC (HP dx2480) running XP SP3 connected to a LinkSys Wireless 4-port router, and a laptop (Lenovo X61) running XP SP3 connected wireless to the same home network (192.168.0.x). The LinkSys connects by cable to a DSL router for internet access. Both PC and laptop get DHCP IPs from the Linksys (which I have hard-coded - mapped MAC to IP). They are on the same Windows Workgroup "HOME". Both Desktop and Laptop have same Windows User Logins. My desktop had a virus attack (trojan), which I removed and re-installed XP SP3 (from HP disks). Since then the PC seems to have "network sharing and discovery issues" on the network.
- The wired PC CAN ping the laptop, but laptop CANNOT ping PC.
- Both laptop and PC CAN access the internet.
- The laptop and PC COULD NOT see each other on Windows Workgroup, or see shares. This got resolved once I added IPX/SPX/NetBios Protocol on both the wired and wireless NICs on both PC/laptop respectively. NOTE: Before adding this protocol, I double-checked that File-Printer Sharing was enabled on both NICs, Windows Firewall had File-Print Sharing as exclusion. I tried everything including disabling firewall on both, disabling McAfee scanning on both, disabling Firewall on Linksys, but nothing worked.
- The laptop CAN see the NAS (Seagate GoFlexHome - connected by cable to LinkSys) using Seagate Dashboard software and direct IP. The PC CANNOT access the NAS using the Dashboard software but CAN access through direct IP. The NAS is named "goflex_home", which both can discover as \goflex_home from explorer.
- The laptop CAN see ITunes Home Share from a NAS, but the PC CANNOT see any home shares on the NAS (or from the laptop). I even added Home Sharing TCP/UDP ports as exceptions on the Firewall on the PC, but it still doesn't work.
- Some blog checking the node type on IP addresses given by DHCP. The laptop has Node Type "Hybrid", and the PC has "Unknown". I even went to PC regedit.exe and modified the and Change EnableProxy to 0 or 1 (instead of 2 that was in the PC as default).
- I have used SG TCPOptimizer on both laptop and PC to revert to Windows default?

I have created an IPSEC VPN tunnel using a Cisco ASA5520 (corporate) to a Cisco SRP541W (remote). The corporate subnet is 10.1.0.0/16, and the remote subnet is 192.168.1.0/24. From the remote subnet, I can ping anything on the 10.1.0.0 corporate network, but I cannot ping from the corporate network to the remote subnet. At first I thought this was something obvious, perhaps an incorrect acl or something easy on the corporate firewall. However, we have several other vpn tunnels established, all set up the same, and they work just fine. After looking at it a bit more closely, if I ping the remote subnet I see the hit counter increment by one each time, which leads me to believe that traffic is in fact being routed properly. Now I'm thinking that something in the remote SRP541W that is not allowing icmp traffic, but I can't find it anywhere. To be honest I have never used this type of firewall before, they have all been Cisco PIX501/506e and ASA5500 models.
