My computer runs bit torrent almost all the time, sometimes when I start Firefox the home page google never loads and neither do any other web pages yet bit torrent is still working as if nothing has changed. If I start a download in Firefox come back to the pc a few hours later Google doesn't load but the Firefox download still continues.What causes this is it DNS ?
View 2 Repliesso I have this problem, the internet only work on one computer, whenever I connect to another computer it says something like: " Can't connect to IP 2, 3, 4 etc. I've tried resetting the modem, router and everything, it didn't work... Sooo, if I connect the same internet cable that's working on the computer to another one it doesen't work. What sholuld I do??, maybe change some settings in the router?

Unfortunately, the cable that goes with this modem is too short (just 2m).This week, I bought a cable (internet cable) of 24m and I expected to be able to move around while being connected and surf the internet but internet does not work when I am using the new cable. We have tested the cable (using a cable tester) and the cable seems to work fine. When I use back the old cable (which is very short) internet is working perfect.
View 15 Replies View RelatedWe have a working home network with 4 pcs connected to the network. 3 via ethernet and 1 via wireless. Everything is working fine. Then we have 2 more laptops which are connecting via wireless. When either of those 2 laptops joins the network, the whole network stops working for a minute or 2. After that it starts working again for everybody (including those 2 laptops). However its super annoying when it does that all the time. (The laptop goes into sleep mode, when u turn it back on again the internet(and the whole network) stops working for awhile again..).
View 2 Replies View RelatedIt's fairly hard to explain what happens but basically, say I'm playing some type of online game, all of a sudden anything server sided such as HP amounts, damage amounts, etc. just disappears but the animation runs fine such as attacking being hit, etc. All of a sudden it'll jump forwards and I'll take any damage and do any damage that had been happening until the issue started. This happens constantly and it's really frustrating but on top of that my internet will slow to a crawl..Say I'm trying to send a message on Skype, it won't send for the longest time and I won't be able to recieve any or even open a new webpage until the problem fixes itself.'ve looked around a bit and thought I fixed the issue, I'm on wifi and multiple devices are connected but not always in use, and the forum I found suggested an ip conflict and said to open up command prompt release the ip with ipconfig /release and then renew it with ipconfig /renew.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter buying a new WNDR370. Sporadically and seemingly without any cause my internet will stop working. Diagnostic will always report it as "DNS Server is not responding." I've also discovered that if I enter my router settings and even just switch the DNS settings from Auto to manual or vice versa the problem corrects itself instantly-then next time it happens I just need to do it again.
I've already tried resetting my entire network and rebuilding the recommended way. Modem, Router, then computers-connecting each only after the prior has finished initializing. Hasn't worked though.
Currently I have my main rig connected directly to the modem to try and find out if I experience the problem at all this way, this is a pain in the ass though, and I don't know when long enough is long enough as the issue is completely random and simply just may not happen.
i have an RTA1025W router. When i plug a network cable into it nothing happens. When i power it down with the cable still plugged in when it boots the LAN1 led flashes rapidly then stops? Then no connection to it via the PC?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy internet (wired and wireless) usually works fine, but occasionally (read: every few days to weeks) the connection will suddenly black out for a period of time, anywhere from an hour to a day. I have tried resetting both my router and modem, and going through all the settings on my laptop, but I'm pretty sure it's not my computer, as no other devices can connect either. During the blackouts, when I look at the modem, the internet light will turn on for a second, then go off and then the red "alarm" light (aka "something is wrong" light) starts blinking like crazy, and this keeps repeating. This resolves itself after anywhere from a few hours to a whole day and everything is normal again. The light show, and the fact that I can't find any other problems, leads me to believe that it could be a problem with my provider (or the network itself) and not a hardware or software problem, but I can't be sure of this.Also, during the blackouts, I can connect to the network, but it shows that limited connectivity symbol (exclamation mark thing) and says no internet.

So here's my setup:Computer A is connected directly to a cable modem box via USB. Computer B (which is sometimes a laptop and sometimes a desktop) is connected to Computer A and shares its internet connection via Ethernet because I am too cheap to buy a router.A few days ago we borrowed a Belkin wireless router so we could have both desktops, the laptop, and my fiance's iPod Touch access the internet at the same time. That worked fine but once we returned the router and tried to put everything back to normal, it didn't work. The only computer able to access the internet is Computer A (or whichever one is directly connected).I tried resetting the modem and restarting both machines. I tried disabling all of the connections that showed up from using the router.Windows states that the IP isn't properly configured or something of that nature. I tried setting it to automatically set the IP but to no avail.Here is the part that really confuses me - I can access Computer B from Computer A via LAN using the ethernet cable, so the connection between the two computers is fine.
I have a windows vista pc networked to a second pc. I have wirelessly networked internet to 2 laptops. I have an actiontec wireless modem by verizon. All of a sudden my host pc started randomly losing internet connection, but the wireless laptops still have a signal. View 11 Replies View RelatedI bought this router and ever since my internet connection will drop out for 5 minutes at a time then come back in. This happens on both wifi and the wired connection. The weird part about it is that if there is a program that maintains a constant connection, e.g. xbox live or an online MMO, they don't lose connection when every other device or even tabs within the same browser all lose connection.
BTW It's the REV_B with the 2.07 firmware.
On the basement level, and on level 2, I have in wall junction boxes where the Cat5E Ethernet wires come together. There are 6 lines that go from the level 2 box to 6 wall jacks on levels 2 and 3. There are also 6 lines that go from the basement box to 6 wall jacks in the basement and on level 1. There is also a Cat5E line running between the two boxes.I have wired all these plugs on both ends with T568B standard, and in each box they go into a patch panel. I have used a cable tester to test and make sure all these plugs are properly wired. I have also tested individual computers hardwired linked through to my router (without going through switches) and confirmed that they work that way, so I'm pretty sure I've wired it correctly.
At the second floor box, I have an AT&T 2Wire wifi router and modem, with AT&T Uverse service. I also have a monoprice Ethernet switch. In the basement box, I have another monoprice Ethernet switch (link to the type of switches I have is below). The switches are connected together via the Cat5E that runs between the boxes, and the second floor switch is connected to a free port on the back of the AT&T 2Wire Uverse wifi router.These wall plugs are not all currently used. In fact the problem I describe below occurs even if nothing is plugged into the wall plates.My problem is: when I hook up everything, so my wifi router is wired to the first switch, which is in turn wired to the 6 wall plugs upstairs as well as to the switch in the basement, and that basement switch is in turn wired to the 6 wall plates downstairs... at that point when I plug it in, my wifi stops working. Basically, whenever my router is plugged into this hard wired network, the wifi stops working. When I unplug the network, the wifi comes back (I usually reset it, not certain if it would come back just from waiting).
Interestingly, it doesn't necessarily stop working if most or all of the plugs are removed so the network is not connected (for example, if I just go through one plug instead of all of them)Does a network of wired Ethernet, even if not plugged into anything, cause some sort of a load or drain on the router that could make it stop working?
I am having quite a large problem with my TalkTalk connection. Whenever i turn off my computer, internet access stops for the entire network, anyone who is conencted, however, local access is still possible.I am also having a problem with the wireless in my laptop also. Whereas every computer on my network is able to access the router wirelessly, my computer (the one that seems to chut down internet access) won't do that, i send packets, but none are received.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have 3 pcs connected to the router via cable and 2 more pcs connected through wireless. Everything works great. But when I try to connect (want to connect 2 more laptops via wireless) either one of the two laptops, the whole network stops working immediately. I have tried updating the drivers (they are up to date), removing the password from the router, gave the laptops static IPs (and all other pcs as well) with no results. As soon as one of the 2 laptops joins the network through wireless, it stops working for everybody. However if I connect them through the cable they work fine. One of the laptops uses win vista 64 bit, the other one win 7 64 bit. We have cisco RangePlus Wireless Router wrt110.

I just got a new notebook that has windows ultimate, and whenever i turn it on it knocks off all the other PCS on the network and the printer, including the one the router is wired to. I can only get it to pick up all 4 devices when i go into the Lynksys program and click change password. But then the program locks up and i have to shut it off manually.
I already reset the router four times trying to get it to pick up all the PCs but it never works. I'm ready to toss the router and get something else. Are there any settings I can change or reset before this router becomes garbage fodder?
I can no longer browse through any browser, or update any programs (even though I am still connected to my wireless router). I have already done a Refresh, but the problem persists
View 2 Replies View RelatedWireless internet connection stops working after anywhere from 10 minutes to two hours, a message pops up telling me it is "impossible to connect to my preferred wireless network", and then it fails to detect any wireless connections at all. The strangest thing is that when I try to "repair" the connection, which used to work, the computer immediately shuts down and restarts itself. It also seems like when I attempt to download something, like a movie for example, the connection fails right away, while if I'm just surfing the web it usually lasts around an hour before stopping. And when I restart the computer again it works perfectly fine at first, like right now, but eventually does the same thing.

Thing is though, it's only my computer that ever has issues with my internet connection. My sisters laptop has never had an issue with out internet. Yet my laptop is able to connect to the neighbors internet fine. The solution to my problem almost all of the time is to simply reboot my computer, which solves the problem(most of the time). But i'm getting so sick of having to do it. The other times when a reboot doesn't work I have to manually reset the internet. As i'm typing this I'm on my neighbors internet. my sister is connected fine to our internet but my laptop simply won't work with it so i'll have to reset it when i'm finished this Some useful information might be that this problem only started happening ever since my computer got wiped.I've tried updating the drivers but apparently they're up to date.

When I am at my mother's place or at school, I have no problem connecting to the internet wirelessly. However, at my father's place, my internet stops working every couple hours and will be unable to connect to the network until i reset the router and modem. Once the reset is complete, I am good for another couple hours. All the other devices ( laptops, iphones, etc.) do not have this problem and the connection is never an issue. I have read that this could possibly be a problem regarding IP addresses but I do not quite understand how to fix this.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new netgear n600 now it seems all my devises are slower. 2 Xbox 360s 2 laptops. 1 pc also on my dell d610 now when i try to watch any video the internet stops working. we use google chrome. I am pretty sure its the router. we use mediacom for internet and get at least 20 mbs. oh and the slowest xbox is run with a ethernet cable so its not a wifi issue with that one.
View 3 Replies View RelatedBasically, my internet's been fine until about a week ago. I'm currently using the Aztech DSL1000EW router/modem which has been working great up to now. My problem is this: after about 5-30 minutes (time fluctuates, annoying because after 15 minutes of continuous usage you think the problem's solved!) all webpages suddenly become 'unavailable'. I've disabled proxies under LAN settings, tried flushing DNS, resetting winsock with the netsh commands but to no avail. To get the internet to work again, I can just go to my router page, click disconnect and reconnect and it'll work for another 5-30 minutes.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI had to move to a remote area in which I can only use a 3G mobile internet connection. The 3G connection is working fine, that is until I plug in my Asus RT-N12 router in order to create a wireless home network between our computers (for file and printer sharing).
For me it seems like firefox is trying to connect to internet trough the router. But that is not possible, since the router has no internet. The only internet is from the 3G mobile internet stick.
How can I tell firefox, that it should look for internet in the 3G connection instead of the router?
We use our internet to watch Netflix. We have had no problems until recently, I called the satellite Internet company(which is a local co.) they told me my router was going out. I bought a new one, problem solved! Right?!? WRONG my husband told me my neighbor just got Internet and has been playing Xbox everyday which coincidently is between the 5:30pm to 10ish pm we have been having issues with our router. What can we do to fix this? Do I have to buy a bigger router? He is not stealing off mine because it is password protected that was changed when new router was setup and programmed. I have been running of a Cisco Linksys E2500 advanced dual band n router. The router is in the same room as the TV accessing it, which we previously had no issue connecting anywhere in the house or garage.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having a bit of trouble with my e4200, It keeps on "dropping" connection, and by dropping I mean it constantly around 3-5 minutes the internet stops working with all my computers, it's connected by wifi with 2 PC's, and 1 PC is wired with an ethernet cable, and I also have 2 mobile devices connected at it. The internet would start working again within 30s, to 1m, but that it drops soon.Methods I've done to fix it:
-Updated firmware to the latest one
-Set the MTU to 1400
-Reset it, (30 second press)
-Rebooted, (Cooled down, doesn't really run hot just a little warm)
-Restored to factore defaults
i have no internet at all only local. But it is showing a full strength wireless signal, I have tried all the things i know plus what wdws recommended. Plus on the network tab it says its connected to an unknown network but in the manage wireless tab it shows my internet provider.

During that period any browser activity will result in a DNS error message and the Win7 network signal shows strong but not connected to the internet. We tried setting static IP addresses on the PCs but no luck. A number of PC's all running Win7 exhibit this issue.After 5-10 min it reconnects and everything is normal.Network is a 20 mbs cable based system.

Then the router took 20 seconds to save. then i close the browser.Then i asked my brother to connect through remote desktop connection who is on the skype and he is in different country and that time he is in office. So he put my router public ip address (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:3389) in this format but unable to connect.

My old Ethernet cable works just fine from said router to PC. I do not know why this one is not working. I tested the cable out on my laptop and it works fine for that. I am not sure what info to post about my PC, but I am using an Asrock z68 Extreme3 Gen3 motherboard as my lan connector.
