My home desk top is set up with D-Link Xtreme N Dual Band Router. I have no problems accessing the internet on my desk top computer. I am trying to access my home wireless network through my HP laptop computer. The wireless network status is Limited or no Connectivity. I've tried the "repair" button with no resolution. The wireless connection is set to automatic.
When I try to go to certain websites on my home PC they take up to several minutes to load. It does not matter what browser I use. When I visit the same sites from work (or any other place, literally) the sites load without delay of any kind.
I'm using the wifi and it was okay but later tonight when i switched on my laptop it cannot detect the wireless connection but can detect our neighbours connection. i am living with 3 other roomates but they have no problem connecting to it. i am using lenovo G450 running win 7.
Only at my home network, my HP Pavilion Laptop wifi will sporadically just stop identifying the router. The router (and Intel) shows enabled and good signal and my husband's laptop shows no interruption. My wifi keeps trying to reconnect but can't. I have to power off the router to reboot it so my wifi connects again. This is really annoying...
Is it normal to have packet losses of between 2 and 6% when using wireless. Laptop is running Vista Home premium. Internet is DSL light Router is Netgear WNR834B. Signal strength is good

If I hook up 2 desktop towers together will it give me more hd and ram space? I want to know this because my boyfriend says we can do this to add more space to the existing tower. I have an older computer that I am running World of Warcraft on and I don't think I can add the 2 expansions I need to it because of the hd and ram space it takes up. I have 15.1 gb of hd space left and a total of 1 gb of ram which it is using to run the 2 I have
I have CAT5 cables run throughout my house to a few different jacks. They plug into my modem downstairs. I want to hook up my desktop internet through one of the wall jacks upstairs. The wall jack has CAT5 cable run to it but only accepts telephone wire sized jacks. How do I connect to the internet with this setup?

We have a wireless access point for our office, encrypted. Is it possible to hook up another wireless access point that would access the internet, but not our local network for public use?

When all the computers are turned on and using everything at once i cant access websites but my skype works so i figure its probably a dns issue and my dlink is overloaded? I didnt try to access any sites with the ip only fail on my part.
Once this happened i immediately unplugged everything and restarted the router. I only have my own computer hooked up the router and did a firmware upgrade to 2.10na and my internet works immediately after but when i hook up another comptuer to the network i cant access any pages but my skype works..
I just bought a used Acer Aspire One 10.1 netbook and I am having some issues. When I got it the pc needed 17 windows updates done. So I did that but I am not sure all the updates worked properly as the machine shut down but never rebooted after finishing updates. After I turned it back on I tried to connect to the internet through my wireless router (which is working fine for other devices), nothing. So I tried a wired connection, nothing again. The wireless is finding my router it is just not hooking up to the internet. I tried ipconfig/all in the cmd prompt and all it shows is that the media is disconnected??? Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on? The compute seems to be functioning fine except for the internet.
i hooked up a netgear repeater to my belkin n450db router and it shows a good connection betw router and extender and between extender and device (laptop and tv) however only a lan connection - no internet.
I am new to dealing with domain setups and Windows Server. Here is my setup:
Comcast business cable modem Gigabit Switch IBM x3100 M4 w/Xeon E3 1230, 16GB ECC DDR3 RAM Running SBS 2011 Standard Custom PC with Win7 Pro, i7 3770, 12GB DDR3 RAM
What I would like to do is setup sbs 2011 as the domain controller and have the custom pc on that domain.Comcast business cable modem/router is set for defaults, handing out dhcp.
Both Server and custom pc are hooked into the switch which is hooked into the comcast router.SBS 2011 I believe I set it up with the default settings. Updated it so all the patches are on it. It sees the comcast router and connects to the internet no problem.
Custom PC is sees the comcast router no problem and gets its ip address from there like normal. When trying to join the domain on the sbs computer the custom computer cannot find it even though I can ping the server.
I have a Dell 2155CDN Multifunction printer that is hooked up through our network. But when using the scan feature, it is terribly slow, and I assume it has something to do with it scanning through the network port. Is it possible to leave the printer hooked up across the network, but also attach it to a computer via USB just for the scanner? Or would doing this confuse the printer not knowing which port to use for each feature?
I have a server webpage hosted on a local linux machine. I can access it by typing the I.P. into my address bar from another computer on the same network.way to connect to my computer on my home network from a computer not on my network.
I have cable internet that is connected to a belkin wireless router. one computer gets slow internet access when connected to this. multiple other computers get better speed. the one affected computer gets fast speeds when accessing the internet at other locations, like a friend's house. also, the affected computer gets fast speeds when connected to the router by a cable.so the problem seems to be very specific to the connection between these specific devices.the laptop in question is a thinkpad e420 running windows 7.
I finally was able to connect two of my computers up to share files. The only problem is My Win7 computer can't see the xp computer although the Xp can see the Seven. When I first set it up Explorer showed the name of the Xp but when I clicked on it the dialog said it couldn't find the computer. The Xp name was in all caps and when I checked on the Xp the name was all lower case so I tried to change the name. When I tried, the OK button was grayed out so I went in to So I clicked on More and was able (I thought) to change the name there. I had to reboot and when I did the computer had just appended the DNS entry I had to give to the original lowercase name.
I was finally able to rename the XP computer! I changed the name to NETBOOK all caps like I had originally thought it was. BUT it makes no difference to the Win7 machine it still can't see the XP machine. I did a refresh and the Xp's name NETBOOK showed up But I am still back where I started from because when I click on it a dialog box just says that it can't access ||NETBOOK.
my set up is simple...main computer cable connected to BT hub (broadband) - second computer, in another room, wirelessly connected through same hub. Recently, I decided to link the two computers with XP using the network wizard. Followed instructions, and everything worked fine until the other day, when the main computer couldn't 'see' second computer (but second computer could see main.) I've checked file sharing and firewall exceptions and all is well. Basically, I am using second computer as extra storage, and so I really would like to make connection again from main computer, not the other way round. Just cannot understand why main can't see second anymore?
so I have this problem, the internet only work on one computer, whenever I connect to another computer it says something like: " Can't connect to IP 2, 3, 4 etc. I've tried resetting the modem, router and everything, it didn't work... Sooo, if I connect the same internet cable that's working on the computer to another one it doesen't work. What sholuld I do??, maybe change some settings in the router?
The computer I am using won't connect any of the routers I've tried (one innoband and two sonicwall tz100's, all of which work with other computers), even though it does connect to the internet through the ethernet port. It is a Dell optiplex 980
i am unable to connect to some lan computers in my office. when i go to start ---> Run ---> \192.168.0.24 or else...(lan computer ip) after 10/15 seconds a popup window comes and says (network path not found). but some systems i can easily access through this procedure
I am having troubles connecting my laptop to my wireless router. Currently, I am hardwired to my internet (totally defeating the purpose of having a laptop...). My computer sees the network, but when I try to connect it, it says "UNABLE TO CONNECT", yet I can connect to other networks... All the other computers in the house along with game consoles connected just fine once I put in our password
I love sharing on my home network to transfer files from one computer to the next. However, I will soon have tenants in my house sharing my network ...so they can use my Wi-Fi to get on the internet.I need a solution to give them access to the internet without losing my own network sharing ability.I do not want them accessing my files.I have Windows XP home and a Dlink WBR-2310 router. As I see it, I need to either upgrade to a router with a Guest Zone/Access feature ...OR..upgrade to Windows 7(?) to give myself more networking options (i.e. file sharing where I select the users or set a password). Currently the XP permissions are too general.
how to re-connect my home wireless signal to my computer. The wireless signal is strong and the other computers in my house will connect with no issues. My computer connected with no problems to my wireless signal at work. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium on a Lenovo Idea Pad Win7 PC. The computer was connecting yesterday and then was shut down. The next time I got on, ,it wouldn't connect. I've tried re-establishing the network as a new network, but it says the network already exists. The profile is the same as our other computers and nothing has been changed there. When I disconnect from the wireless signal and ask to re-connect it says that the it is trying to connect, but can't make the connection. I'm looking for any way to re-build the profile so it will connect and work again.
I recently got my laptop fixed after it being out of commission for about a year (it turns out there was just too much dust collecting in it) and when I got home and tried to connect to my wifi network, I didn't have internet access. I received a message that said I had sucessfully connected to my network but it was only a local connection - no internet. It also shows up as "Unidentified Network." This is peculiar to me because my boyfriend's laptop is able to connect to the internet wirelessly just fine, and I am currently using the wifi on my iPhone. I ran the ipconfig and several ping tests in cmd and used a wifi inspector.
