Cisco WAN :: PPTP Client From 1700 Router To Microsoft VPN Server

Aug 25, 2012

I'm trying to configure 1700 K9 router to act as PPTP client and connect to Microsoft VPN server (in order to enable all clients on LAN to seamlessly access host on remote location). [URL]

I'm using GMS3 to test everything in lab environment. I managed to connect to Microsoft VPN server but the connection drops immediately. Below is debug info from router R1 (router R2 just simulates host on LAN) and configurations for both routers. The only clue I got from debug is that immediately before closing connection there's a message "CCP: Failed to negotiate with peer"...

R1#sh debug
PPP:
PPP detailed event debugging is on
MPPE Packet Details debugging is on

Computer Not Showing Up In DHCP Client List?

Feb 9, 2011

I just started having this problem yesterday. I was experiencing weird downloading/internet browsing issues and couldn't figure out what the problem was. I started looking around my router settings and noticed that in my DHCP Client list, my computer isn't in it. The router is hooked up to the computer, so it's not wireless. My phone and my girlfriend's laptop are listed, but the main computer isn't. It's especially causing problems with port forwarding. Downloads will stop because the port isn't showing as open. I'm running 64 bit Windows 7 and a Belkin N+ Wireless Router, model F5D8235-4.Firmware is up to date.

Home Network :: Windows 7 Can't See XP Computer

Mar 20, 2013

I finally was able to connect two of my computers up to share files. The only problem is My Win7 computer can't see the xp computer although the Xp can see the Seven. When I first set it up Explorer showed the name of the Xp but when I clicked on it the dialog said it couldn't find the computer. The Xp name was in all caps and when I checked on the Xp the name was all lower case so I tried to change the name. When I tried, the OK button was grayed out so I went in to So I clicked on More and was able (I thought) to change the name there. I had to reboot and when I did the computer had just appended the DNS entry I had to give to the original lowercase name.

I was finally able to rename the XP computer! I changed the name to NETBOOK all caps like I had originally thought it was. BUT it makes no difference to the Win7 machine it still can't see the XP machine. I did a refresh and the Xp's name NETBOOK showed up But I am still back where I started from because when I click on it a dialog box just says that it can't access ||NETBOOK.

Lost Home Network Map On One Computer?

Feb 8, 2011

Recently, I decided to link the two computers with XP using the network wizard. Followed instructions, and everything worked fine until the other day, when the main computer couldn't 'see' second computer (but second computer could see main.) I've checked file sharing and firewall exceptions and all is well. Basically, I am using second computer as extra storage, and so I really would like to make connection again from main computer, not the other way round. Just cannot understand why main can't see second anymore?

Re-connect Home Wireless Signal To Computer?

My computer connected with no problems to my wireless signal at work. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium on a Lenovo Idea Pad Win7 PC. The computer was connecting yesterday and then was shut down. The next time I got on, ,it wouldn't connect. I've tried re-establishing the network as a new network, but it says the network already exists. The profile is the same as our other computers and nothing has been changed there. When I disconnect from the wireless signal and ask to re-connect it says that the it is trying to connect, but can't make the connection. I'm looking for any way to re-build the profile so it will connect and work again.

Computer Does Not Identify Home Wifi Network

Jan 19, 2011

I recently got my laptop fixed after it being out of commission for about a year (it turns out there was just too much dust collecting in it) and when I got home and tried to connect to my wifi network, I didn't have internet access. I received a message that said I had sucessfully connected to my network but it was only a local connection - no internet. It also shows up as "Unidentified Network." This is peculiar to me because my boyfriend's laptop is able to connect to the internet wirelessly just fine, and I am currently using the wifi on my iPhone. I ran the ipconfig and several ping tests in cmd and used a wifi inspector.
