View 1 RepliesI have Verizon Fios. My laptop connects wireless to router and can get to the internet. The laptop can also work wired to router. My desktop connects to router OK, but can't get to internet. I reinstalled IE8. I can put in the router address and connect to router. I can ping between laptop and desktop. IE says it's waiting for whatever address I type in, says Done, then goes waiting for [URL]. It always comes back either The address is not valid, or Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.

I now want to disconnect the ethernet cable and allow the original laptop to be mobile around the house. When I first tried this everything worked fine. When I tried again (with the ethernet cable still connected) the wireless internet connection was recognized but would not allow me to connect. The message was something to the effect of "Windows is unable to connect to the selected network. The network may no longer be in range. refresh the list of available networks, and try to connect again." The network is certainly there and the router is right next to the laptop - fully in range. The same thing happens when I disconnect he ethernet cable. A few times the router didn't even show up in the list of wireless interner connections. I might have changed some setting someplace but I don't know which one.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a new Dlink DIR-655 router. My motivation was a router with a USB port. I initially purchased a DIR-632. I have 1 desktop without a wireless card so it connects to router thru ethernet cable. I have 2 personal laptops with wireless cards and 1 work computer also with wireless card. With the DIR-632 all computers would connect to router, but my work computer (Dell) would connect but then intermittenly show no internet connection. All other computers had no issues connecting to internet ( wired and wireless) The Dell would connect and have internet connection if I used a wired connection. After talking to DLink Tech support they said that i had an issue with the Dell. I called Dell and they walked me thru several things. Nothing worked. They ultimately sent in a tech who replaced wireless adapter and did a diagnosis before leaving and the Dell was deemed to be in perfect working order. I tried connecting again after Dell's repairs and same issue. DlinK Tech support then said the issue was with router and suggested replacing router. Went back to place of purchase and obtained the DIR-655. Got home and exactly the same issue. Again on the horn with Tech support and issue was determined to be bad router. Went back to place of purchase and got another DIR-655. Got home tried new router same issue. Spent in excess of 4 hrs on the phone with level 3 tech support. We tried many, many possible fixes and it appeared as if we had the problem fixed, but within a hour of hanging up with tech support the issue was unchanged.
As the Dell is a work computer I use it a multiple locations, some with no issues connecting wirelessly and one location the same issue as at my home (interestingly enough this location uses a DIR-655). At this 1 work location it says I'm connected, it says there is internet access, but I cannot do anything on the internet.(I can connect without issue with an ethernet connection) At my home location I can connect to the DIR-655 wirelessly, it initially shows internet access and I might be able to access a single webpage, but then it states no internet connection, but it is still connected to the DIR-655.
My initial DIR-615 and the Dell works perfectly fine. However that defeats the purpose of me buying the DIR-655. Ideally I want only the DIR-655 with all computers connecting thru it.
The ISP is a satellite connection. The modem is a Hughes HN9000. By spending 4 hours online with tech support we have changed the channel used, specified specific DNS locations, IP addresses, renewed DHCP, you name we have probably tried it.
The Dell for some reason just does not like the DIR-655, as it connects to the DIR-615 and 1 other work location router, but it will not connect at my home or other work locations (both DIR-655 routers).
Running an asus WL-520gu router with flashed with DD-WRT. Just got a new DSL modem and now I can connect to the router, but have no internet connection. I've tried turning everything off, deleting network profiles and here is my ipconfig info below. Also i've pinged yahoo and it says "'DNS request time out was 2 seconds". View 4 Replies View RelatedOur Comcast broadband goes to our modem then our router (Linksys) before splitting off to our desktop & our Ooma unit. I run our netbook off of the wireless but the desktop & Ooma are physically connected to two of the router's ports.This afternoon I lost the ability to connect to the internet with the desktop. Ooma works and so does my netbook. The computer finds the connection and says it's working fine when I try to diagnose the problem, but none of my browsers (Chrome, Firefox or IE) are able to connect to the network. Thunderbird and gmail notifier also can not connect.Using command prompt I can successfully ping any website I try.I have tried everything I could think of:
Powered down and restarted PCU
New network card
Disabled Norton
New cord from router to network card
Switched connection so it was directly from modem to PCU
Reinstalled browsers
I don't know what else I can try. The computer is not allowing me to run a system restore. It says that the disk is damaged and must be repaired. But it will not allow me to repair it because the disk is running? It seems to me that there is a setting or security issue that is blocking my access to the network?
I have 300 Mb/s plan from ISP. Then cable connected directly to PC my throughput is as it should be, but then i do connect my PC via E2000 cable connection, it slows down to 200Mb/s. I have tryied also E4200 model and i have same issue.

I spent hours with my tech guy setting up the router so that I was getting excellent internet speed and the connection between my computer and my nas was maximized. In the process of setting up the router my laptop (Windows 7) and the basement laptop (Vista) were set up to access the router. Both work perfectly.These are now the only two devices in the house that can get internet access.The other devices that should connect are:
-2 Laptops (both Vista)
-1 iPhone 4
-2 iPhone 3gs
-1 Printer
I can't get them to connect. I spent an hour with a guy at Cisco tonight who just couldn't seem to get past the idea that it was not the laptop that was the problem.
I'm using a SMC2804WBRP-G router connected to my ADSL-modem. Usually there are two computers connected to this router: a win7 ultimate desktop(wired) and a macbook air (wireless). Both working absolutely fine and never caused any connection drops as far as I know.
A new room mate moved in last month and each time she starts up her win7 home laptop the router looses the internet connection. The laptop is on a wired connection.
The first time she connected to my router, the connection dropped every 2 mins. To find out whats wrong with her machine I disabled all unnecessary services etc. besides the anti virus software. That worked to eliminate almost all of those periodic connection drops. But the start up drop remained and I've got the feeling that the router is still loosing connection from time to time.
I upgraded 3 days ago from a (WRT160N ver. 1) to a (E3200) After setting it up and syncing all the devices including the XBOX 360. After signing into Live I noticed that every time I power off and power on the console it's IP address would change causing the NAT to become moderate so I went over to the Xbox360 open the Network settings and Manually set the IP address Mac address, Gateway address. Then I opened the routers settings page and Port Forwarded the correct ranges also copied the IP address I manually entered earlier on the Xbox 360. On the router side I saved the changes restarted the console and my NAT was open, but here's the Issue now when I go to sign into Live I get a pop up saying I can't connect to Live to "Test the Connection". After I "Test the Connection" then and only then I can sign into Live.

During this time I can access the router, but not the internet. Oddly something that seems to "fix" this is if I use my nintendo wii to access my wireless internet at that time, all computers on my network are able to access the internet. However this is annoying to do since this happens once a day from DHCP lease expiring. Using any other computer to attempt to access the internet at this time would be unable to get a connection until I do the "fix" with the Wii. WRT400N

I use an iMac, a Notebook with Windows 7 and a Netbook with Ubuntu 11.04, besides different devices (iPhone, iPod, PS3, Kindle). Although when I configured the router I connected every devices simultaneasly, with better signal quality than before, after using it for a couple of days I found that it disconnects itself, I can't access internet, and my only solution it's to switch it off and on.
I have rather huge connection at home. DL speed 80Mb, UL speed 3Mb.When I connect my PC directly to modem and configure PPPoE connection, I get 81Mbits/sec. When I connect my old ASMAX $30 router, I get 78 Mbit/sek. And I find it OK.But when I connect my EA6500 I get 28 MBits/sec. Same result on wire as on wireless connection. Of course If I enable prioritisation, I get even less, 12-15 Mbits/sec.I tried already even configuration with ASMAX as wired router and EA6500 connected to its LAN port. It gives me 50Mbits/sec.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a E4200v2 and im getting wireless connection issues. I have updated to the lastest firmware and have checked all my wireless settings. I dont use usb storeage. I have 1 laptop using 5G, my iphone using 2G and my wife mac using also 2G.. the problem is that, once we stop using the 2G connection (leave it overnight), it just dies the next day.. it wont connect, i double check the password and it wont connect. But the 5G connection is fine.. Do i have a break E4200v2? or anyway of fixing this?

After the net was installed it was working on my phone and my moms laptop, but on my laptop it picks up the wireless signal but will not connect. It has updated firmware and has no wireless protection because i live in the middle of no where so no pass required. my Wireless card is a Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 5300 in a Ibuypower.com laptop. Due to me not having internet without a modem for the past couple of days i have been at a friends gaming with it and the net has worked fine, but yesterday during starcraft but laptop kept losing internet randomly like it was just lose connection but after about 30-60 seconds it would reconnect itself and id be fine. but when i tried to connect to this new modem at my house which my moms pc can and my iphone can, it just stops connecting like the little screen just disapeers without a reason why it failed. Im not sure what it can be but my drivers are updated and i was wondering if it could have been a virus but my computer is clean.

Now that I have the router back at home and connected back to my modem, it won't work. If I'm hardlined into the computer through the modem/router it works fine. When I remove the cable from my laptop, I can see my router (network) but it's telling me it can not connect. The troubleshooting error is telling me that Windows did not receive any response from the wireless router or access points.
