Cannot Connect To Wireless Connection
May 4, 2011
So today the comcast guy came over and he put in a new modem cause the other one broke, i have a wireless router hhooked into it. its a WRT120N router from cisco. After the net was installed it was working on my phone and my moms laptop, but on my laptop it picks up the wireless signal but will not connect. It has updated firmware and has no wireless protection because i live in the middle of no where so no pass required. my Wireless card is a Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 5300 in a Ibuypower.com laptop. Due to me not having internet without a modem for the past couple of days i have been at a friends gaming with it and the net has worked fine, but yesterday during starcraft but laptop kept losing internet randomly like it was just lose connection but after about 30-60 seconds it would reconnect itself and id be fine. but when i tried to connect to this new modem at my house which my moms pc can and my iphone can, it just stops connecting like the little screen just disapeers without a reason why it failed. Im not sure what it can be but my drivers are updated and i was wondering if it could have been a virus but my computer is clean.

I brought my laptop AND wireless router to work to have our IT guy look at it and it connected fine on my office network. Now that I have the router back at home and connected back to my modem, it won't work. If I'm hardlined into the computer through the modem/router it works fine. When I remove the cable from my laptop, I can see my router (network) but it's telling me it can not connect. The troubleshooting error is telling me that Windows did not receive any response from the wireless router or access points. I've tried configuring the router a thousand different ways, resetting it, resetting to factory defaults, etc.

Since successfully restoring my laptop to factory settings I have been unable to connect using my Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection.Initially it worked, but after a while it stopped. I have completed several system restores, and the wireless connection works for a few days. On the last occasion (after installing windows updates) I received the dreaded blue screen and have been unable to connect.I am not sure if it is related to installing new windows updates as prior to restoring to factory settings I had no issues with my wireless connection.I am able to connect using the ethernet cable and I am currently able to connect using Pluscom wireless usb adapter. I recently upgraded my internet to a faster speed. I received a new router. I am able to connect my laptop via ethernet connection without any issues. I am able to connect my laptop wirelessly both at work and at school. I am unable to connect wirelessly at home. I can connect my stand alone computer to my internet connection. I am also able to connect my smart phone to this connection. When I attempt to log into the internet connection I enter the passphrase as instructed the entire screen goes blank and when I try to reconnect the computer is automatically entering a different passphrase and gives me a message "waiting for network" then it disappears and I am not connected - when I attemp to correct the passphase it will not store the new setting. I have tried updating the driver - changing the passphrase - restarting the computer, I have used the diagnostic check provided by Century Link and spent over 4 hours on the phone with them trying various things without any connection.

I can connect my xbox with the ethernet cable, but i am unable to get it to connect wireless. My laptop & phone are able to connect, I did try the steps such as resetting network configurations, i tried unplugging the router, i know my password is correct. i tried putting in the ip #'s. the xbox is not the only thing that won't connect wireless, neither will the ipod or kobo. it has been suggested that my router may be set for only a certain # of connections?

I had a 'No boot sector in internal hard drive' displayed, could not boot up, had to fresh install, lost everything. But now do not seem to have a wireless connection? I have a Broadcom 440x 10/100 integrated controller. Is this for wireless capability? My Fn/F2 key to switch on wireless does not work either.

I have a Samsung RV510 laptop computer running Windows 7 that is about 6 months old. It has worked well until the last couple of days. Despite the fact that it shows an active wireless internet connection, I cannot get web pages to open. I have tried both IE and Firefox with no luck. I have tried many different websites including microsoft, msn, google and yahoo and none have connected. Other devices connected to the same wireless network include a laptop running XP, a MacBook pro, an iPhone, an iPad, and several android smart phones and all have been functioning without issue. An XP desktop is also connected to the router with an ethernet cable with no issues. This laptop is the only device running Windows 7.
When I run the windows network diagnostics tool I get the message "Problem found The remote device or resource won't accept the connection". I have tried most of the recommended actions associated with the linkI have successfully pinged www.google.com and www.yahoo.com. I have also tried several other things that i found while doing research on this problem with no success.[CODE]

I recently had Verizon high speed internet installed in my house. I connected a laptop to the router with an ethernet cable and everything works fine. I managed to connect with another laptop and another computer via wifi and they also work fine. I now want to disconnect the ethernet cable and allow the original laptop to be mobile around the house. When I first tried this everything worked fine. When I tried again (with the ethernet cable still connected) the wireless internet connection was recognized but would not allow me to connect. The message was something to the effect of "Windows is unable to connect to the selected network. The network may no longer be in range. refresh the list of available networks, and try to connect again." The network is certainly there and the router is right next to the laptop - fully in range. The same thing happens when I disconnect he ethernet cable. A few times the router didn't even show up in the list of wireless interner connections. I might have changed some setting someplace but I don't know which one.

A few weeks ago I tried to install vmware to my toshiba laptop to play around with is and eventually install Windows server 2008 virtually. Well I didnt complete the installation and set up because I forgot to write down the registration key #. Ever since then I have had a terrible time getting my network reconfigured and have tried everything with Verizon network support over the phone. I am now unable to get a valid Ip address or default gateway with either my Wireless or my LAN connections. I have done all types of troubleshooting, resetting netgear router, modem, ip config /reset /renew,netsh winsock reset catalog commands and etc . . . STILL NOTHING WORKS ! I have another machine that is a mac book on my home wirless network that connects just fine, the only problem is my machine. And I have also taken this machine to my job and try connect to the wireless public network and all I get is "limited access" I ran the network test that Kadar provided and this is what I get:
Windows IP Configuration

Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid

I bought this router a couple of months ago and it was working fine until this morning. I tried to use the internet and there was no connection at all (wired or wireless). I tried power cycling but that didn't work. I finally decided to call my DSL provider and we changed the setup from the router connecting to PPPOE to the modem connecting to PPPOE. Now, my two computers (wired) can access the internet but all my wireless devices (Android and BB) connect to the SSID (unique) but can't actually access the net.I called DLink but they decided to stop assisting me once I told them that my computers could connect but not the wireless devices. They said I need to call the manufacturers of my wireless devices - I really doubt that all 4 of my wireless devices are faulty.
