I have 5 computers hitting the same router (Linksys wireless)
Work: Laptop running Windows 7
Laptop running Windows XP Home
Printer-work ethernet connected directly to router
Home: PC running Windows XP Home
Printer-home USB connected to Home PC
Wife's notebook running Windows 7
Kids' laptop running Windows 7
Prior to the new laptop above, my network was configured so that the old laptop (XP) could communicate with another work PC (now the Home PC) via the router, under the Network section of Windows Explorer. Both could print to the work printer.Best of all, the wife's laptop, kids' laptop, and family computer could not get to my work computers or work printer at all. My recollection is that part of the set-up was done through Norton Internet Security with trusted PCs, etc.But now versions are all different (2012),How can I configure my network as before so that the work units can talk to each other and the family PCs are locked out, other than having access to the internet via the router?
i have have lan in the office(internet installed) and i want to combine it with the lan in the computer lab for internet .i dont want to use cable as it might be too long .
I have an RV082 for use in our office. I wanted to create a public acess point on a different subnet/vlan and so configured port 8 of the RV08 as VLAN2. When I plug a laptop into this port it immediataley gets an IP address from the DHCP server on VLAN1 and can communicate with the rest of the network.I thought the whole point of the VLAN option was that this shouldn't happen - what I've incorrectly configured?
We are using a CISCO1921-SEC Router. On the "WAN" side we have 1 public IP Adress assigned by DHCP. At the moment we are using the WAN Interface with a crypto-map as endpoint of some IPSec connections. We set up a zone-based-firewall with "WAN" and "LAN" zone. In this setup all IPSec Endpoints are on one Interface - connections to the "LAN" zone can be managed by rulesets. What about connections between IPSec connections and the zone "self".We like to terminate each IPSec connection in a separated zone. How can this be configured ?Each one on a "tunnel inetface" with "tunnel source ..." binding ?
i'm connected to the internet through a shared internet connection through a switch, and also have 3 computers connected to the same switch, what i want to setup a local network between the 3 computers but separated from the internet network?
We have recently switched routers and now my laptop doesn't work wirelessly; it connects to the router but there isn't an internet connection. The laptop works fine when the LAN cable is plugged in though. Our other laptop can connect to the internet with or without the LAN cable. Both are Toshibas running on Windows Vista.I have tried various approaches such as downloading the latest Atheros AR5007EG drivers but it said that they're already the most up to date. [code]
I have a work provided laptop connected to my home router, and I logon to the work domain using a VPN client. I want to be able to print to a printer that is connected via USB to another computer on my home network. That computer is not allowed to logon to the work domain. Is there a way to do this without making changes to the work computer?
Ok so our company has a VPN set up on our workstation laptops for employees to be able to connect to the office network from home.We use CISCO VPN CLIENT, and a pre-setting .pcf file to upload our vpn into the client. The settings are correct completely to allow the VPN to work from home. All of our older workstations (Latitude D510-D630's) work with Windows XP SP3 32b. Recently i purchased new laptops (Latitude E6410's) and have started issuing them out with Windows 7 Enterprise 64b.A couple employees from home cannot get their VPN to work correctly at home with the New Laptops. Their old laptops work fine with the VPN, but the new ones dont. They are running a Frontier DSL modem with wireless. The VPN connects just fine on the new laptops, but the problem is... Nothing works. Outlook does not connect, They cannot access any of our network shares or drives. And cannot use any of our company's software that requires our network access.
I tried uninstalling the the CISCO Client, and reinstalling it, No Go.I tried changing the MTU Settings on the client and network adapters and wireless adapters, No Go.And it seems to be just an ISSUE with employees trying to VPN through a dsl connection using the new laptops, where others with the new laptops can VPN in fine through a time warner connection. But remind you, their old laptops work fine.. which seems kind of odd to me.
I have an old dell latitude D630 laptop that has worked for a while but has on numerous occasions stopped connecting to my wifi. Messing around with it to get it to connect has worked so far but I can't figure it out this time. It's says its connected but when I pull up my browser it has the "server not found" page. I've trying restarting it, resetting the router, and disconnecting and reconnecting.
I have been using the same Toshiba A105 for the past three years at work. Recently I had to reinstall XP and since then have not been able to connect to my works wireless/wired internet most of the time. I have no trouble connecting to my wireless at home or basically anywhere else except work. Once in a rare while it will connect to work but if it's wireless it's low connectivity and if it's wired it's prone to just drop out again randomly. Everyone else at work is able to connect wirelessly/wired without issue. I've tried static IP and changing my MAC addressThere are some unsecured wireless networks in range that I can connect to but don't want to for work transactions.
I entered the pin number on my router in order to connect to the internet on my laptop. Soon after, I could not connect to the internet with my Netflix account or on my iTouch.
Internet doesn't work on my laptop. after getting some worms that prevented me to open any programs, i did a recover from previous back up. but since then my internet doesn't work (with or without cable). wirelessly: my laptop says im connected to the router, but it says that i have no connection to internet. sometimes it says that i m connected to internet but even so when i try to open my browsers (ieplorer or firefox), it just says "unable to connect"With wire: when i trie to connect via a cable directly to the modem, it does the same thing, it says iam connected to the modem but i have limited access, and the browsers say that it can't open internet.i am using windows 7, have a dell computer and a belkin N1 wireless router, and using cable.i tried to restore the winsock using the netsh command, i used winsockxpfix, i used lspfix, i deleted my norton virus program, i reset my router to default, i deleted my cache-cookie-history from the browser, i think my driver are up to date, i check my manager device (they all work), nothing worked.
my computer works fine and i can go online. i use wire for my computer and try the same wire to my laptop but not working. i tries another cable throught the router but still nothing.
I need to replace my Netgear WGR614 v6 router which is a good 4 or 5 years old, and i think is the cause of a very slow internet connection. Download speeds are reaching 1.1mb/s but browsing on the internet is unbelievably slow and fails to load pages most of the time saying the DNS look-up failed. I was thinking of purchasing the Buffalo Wireless-N300 Cable Router. I'm with Virgin Media, i think on 10meg broadband. I think it will support moving from wireless G to wireless N, but my laptop is fairly old too - Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook C series.
I have a motorola usb modem which is connected to my laptop and i have shared the connection and have an ethernet cable from laptop to wireless modem (TP-LINK) such that other wifi enabled devices can connect to it.Now we have electricity blackouts and when that happens my wireless router gets turned off. Internet on the laptop is working fine, now when the electricity comes back and the wireless router is on, the net does not work on the other wifi devices and only my laptop (as its directly connected to the modem).I have to reboot my laptop for the shared connection to work.
I just switched houses, and when I connected my computer, modem and router I found out that I have internet on my PC which is wired, but when I try to get connected with my Laptop using the wireless funtion, it doesn't work. The laptop finds the router and gets "connected" but when I try to open a web page, it says there's an issue with my internet connection, and also something about not finding the DNS...whatever that means...as you can see..
I'm having an issue connecting to my wireless router. I can connect fine with security disabled, but it doesn't connect if I enable WPA. It says there's a "timeout" issue when I try to connect with WPA enabled. No one else is having issues connecting with their laptops and smartphones, so it must be a problem with my computer. [code]
I have set up a network consisting of an XP desktop , Windows Home Server Desktop & XP Netbook & router. The network works as it should when the netbook is connected to the router by ethernet. However, when I connect the netbook wirelessly it (the netbook) cannot view the other computers & an access error is returned when trying to access networked folders on the desktop & server. (the desktop can see the laptop though). Disabling the security software made no difference nor did resetting winsock. So the problem lies with connecting wirelessly.
my laptop internet doesnt work, devices dont exist(ethernet controller.network controller and pci simple communication controller) my pc is dell inspiron and windows 7
My Samsung R780 laptop is just over a year old and has had problems connecting to the internet for almost its entire life. The problem I have is that it seems to pick and choose which routers it will work with, without any logical pattern. I'm in a shared house at the moment, and the router we used to have worked OK from what I could tell (although it had a poor signal). It never actually provided my laptop with a connection unless I boosted the signal, but I assumed that was just due to the fact that it was on the other side of the house.
Last night I was just online in my dorm using wired internet like I always do and it suddenly just stopped working. It hasn't been working since and it won't connect to anything. However my wifi internet works just fine but I'd like to use wired again for faster speed. I run windows 7 on an Acer laptop.
I have connected my laptop to many many networks, but this is the first time this happened. I went to my moms today, and triied connecting but it only says limited access and full bars, and sometimes it doesnt even say its limited access...I have restarted modem Deleted network file (or whatever yhou call it, its in manage network. makes it like ive never joined it)Checked if connection switch was off on my laptop (Wasnt)Disconnected and reconnected multiple times Cry a little And restarted computer .What can i do?
Whenever some other laptop in my room is using internet with its wifi my wifi stops working. I checked my ping when no laptop was using wifi that its runnig quite smoothly. But as soon as my room mates laptop gets connected to the same network my ping gives me output that "Request timed out".
I just got a new internet connection after going for 2 years or so without one here at home, now that i have it and got the router installed and all my main computer a desktop (HP Pavilion a6655f Desktop PC) has not been able to connect online using my laptop i've had no problems but would really like to get my desktop online as well, I have tried the windows diagnostic tool tried resting the adapter but that has not worked.
i am using dlink DIR-600L wireless router, the problem is i can connect to any device only if my laptop is on, the moment i swtich off my laptop my other devices dont work on wifi
I have an issue with my work laptop connecting to my home network. It will connect to the internet but only briefly and then the connection is dropped. I reset or repair the connection and I can get it to re-connect but then it drops again after only a minute or two. I tried to connect it to the router directly with a cable (turned wireless off) and had the same issue. This laptop has no issues connecting wirelessly at work or to other wi-fi networks I have tried. I have another laptop in the house that has no issues connecting to the home network & internet. The issue seems only to be with this laptop at home. The laptop is a Dell using 64 bit Vista. The router is a D-link DI-524, 802.11g router and I have a DSL connection.
My laptop is an Optima Centoris v662 and i recently had Microsoft service pack 3 installed over windows vista. ever since i did, my wireless radio turned off and the switches (fn f10 and the seperate switch just above the keyboard) wont work. my wireless card is a intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945AGB but i dont think that is the problem.
I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop that is about 6 years old running Windows XP. I have a Dell desktop with a cable modem and Linksys wireless router connected to the desktop to run my home wireless network.
Yesterday the wireless no longer worked on my laptop. I have a small wireless icon (looks like a computer monitor) with a yellow triangle with an explanation point inside. The messages are 'Signal Strength: Excellent' and 'Status: Limited or No Connectivity'. I have tried the following with no success:
- Rebooting the laptop (multiple timess)
- Resetting both the cable modem and router
- Turning off the desktop, resetting both the cable modem and router, and rebooting the desktop
- Took my laptop to work where a wireless connection is available and received the same messages
Thinking my wireless adapter / wireless card is bad I purchased a Linksys wireless USB adapter and just installed it. However it also cannot connect to my wireless network and issues a 'Open network Failure' error.
The Internet works fine from my desktop but is directly connected to the modem. I have not tried connecting the modem directly to my laptop to see if it would pick up the connection.
1. Printer:HP Officejet 6600 2. OS: Windows 7 3. Error: Cannot find printer on wireless network *name* 4. What did I do? Just installed the printer software from HP website.
I got the HP Officejet 6600 and successfully connected it to the network at home. I managed to connect the home desktop (Windows 7), a laptop (Windows 7) and a Macbook Pro. These are all the personal ones. However, when I tried to install the the HP Officejet 6600 on the work laptop, the installation wasn't able to find the printer on the home network when doing it wirelessly. I managed to install it the USB cable but that was about it.Also, when trying to install it wirelessly, it found our home network, couldn't find the printer so it prompted me to type in the IP address for the printer, which I did, however, it still wasn't able to find it. The work laptop is connected to the home wireless in the network connections and the American Express server. Is there a way to get around this issue so I can connect the laptop to the printer wirelessly as it would make life a LOT easier.
Recently i got my motherboard replaced due to some technical issue and now the networking doesn't work... i Tried re installing the drivers but nothing works...
