I am wondering if I can re-distribute my cabled Internet (part of a LAN) to a separate network via a router? Well I tried to connect the ethernet cable from which I access the internet to the Fa port of a router and then tried to share the internet creating NAT pool in the router. I am not successful.

If running directly through my cable modem I had no connection issues at all.I was running the whole setup cabled, and have no peripherals using the wireless connection.The router was returned to the retailer for RMA, and in the end I got the purchase credited.My setup ISP: Dansk Kabel TV (danish provider for internet, TV etc.)Modem: Netgear CVD31T DOCSIS 3.0 compliant Cablemodem (I do not have access to the modem, as it is provided by the ISP. I have now bought an E2000, and set it up in the same manner as the previous router.This has returned the same problems I had with my previous router.Updating the firmware didn't make any difference.Using Pingtest.net as my test reference I get results like this.when connected directly to the modem I get 0% packet loss, max 20ms ping and jitter is 2-3ms.Have I been so unlucky to get 2 faulty routers in a row, or could there be some problems with Linksys routers and Netgear?I have unsuccessfully tried switching cables without any change, tried moving the router "far" away from the modem, monitors etc to see if there could be any interference from the wireless.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a DIR-825 (hardware rev B1, v2.06 firmware) with 2 guest networks active (one on each frequency). I recently attached a laptop to the network using the computer's PCI NIC, with the wireless card completely turned off. Much to my surprise, Windows (7 Pro) indicated that I was connected to the 2.4GHz guest network. The only place in the router's configuration where the indicated name appears is in the "Guest zone" configuration page, where it asks for an SSID to use for the "wireless guest zone". Not only that, but it was the only connection that I could get for the computer, unless I turned the wireless card back on. That's also interesting because no other computer on the network, connected via cable, displays any "named" connection when viewing the networking properties. They simply show "Network" as their connection.

I've 4 ISP in my office. In my network all the machines are connected through unmanaged switches.Now if I need to shift any one machine to other ISP then I need to change his IP.Is the following possible:
I connect all the four ISP's to a machine(say Server), then I take out a wire and connect it to the switch so that I can distribute all the ISP into the network.Now on the basis of the MAC Address I can change the assign any ISP to any of the other machine in the network.Also is it possible that I can monitor their data usage as well as can CAP there bandwidth.

I'm trying to create a route-map for an EIGRP Distribute list on a N7K, the goal is to not advertise a 10.0.0.0/8 and 172.31.30.20/32 networks out a link to a remote site while permitting all other traffic to the internet (default). I configured the ACL/route-maps below and applied them outbound on the N7K interface but no subnets at all are being received on the remote site router.

We have a 14 offfice MPLS network. All offices have Cisco 3750s running OSPF which replicate route tables via our providers BGP peers. I am introducing a new network in our SF office which is not directly connected so in SF we have a static route "ip route 172.16.20.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.100.1. I want our other offices to learn this route route via OSPF so that they know how to get to the new network. My problem is that of course remote sites do not see our static routes and i have tried to add this via ospf but the switch will not propagate this route because it is not directly connected to the switch in SF.

I'm setting up a Cisco wireless mesh. The APs are all dual-band 3602s connected to a controller. So, let's say I'm broadcasting both 2.4 and 5.1GHz at the same time for the same SSID. Which frequency does a wireless client connect through, assuming the client supports both? Is there a way to default to one (say 5.1GHz) then fall back to the other, or is it strictly a matter of signal strength? (In which case, from the testing I've done, 2.4GHz almost always has a stronger signal strength.)
Or, should I broadcast separate networks (e.g. "work-network24" vs "work-network51") and manually authenticate/authorize against the appropriate band based on how I want to distribute load across the radios and spectrum?
Why the below configuration does not work? BGP exchanges routes without a problem all the time the distribute list is removed from the config. When I apply the distribute list it blocks all routes, not just those intended in the prefix list.

I have just installed and configured a new RVS4000 with VPN (currently running firmware V2.0.0.3), and have enabled the DHCP Server service. I wanted to be able to distribute a search domain in addition to the IP address and DNS Server information (as I have done with other devices that include a DHCP Server), but cannot seem to locate where or how I might do that with the RVS4000.

We have a home use WRT160N router linked to a PC desktop and two wireless laptops, Yesterday bought a new I-Phone, but could not link to my network (entered the security key many times). I accidentally connected to computer fix it firm that linked to my PC and wanted a large sum to fix the problem which he said was due to large number of temp?? internet files and once removed he would change the IP address of the desktop computer? Is this diagnosis logical and can I do it on my own. The router is definetely working - both laptops access the internet and I was recently able to hook up a Samsung Blu-Ray player using the same security code I used for the I-Phone.

View 4 Replies View RelatedRouter 1: I have a WRT120N wireless router connected to the Internet. It has IP 192.168.1.1 and DHCP is enabled with address range 192.168.1.100 up.
Router 2: I have a WRT310N router connected to the LAN via LAN port to ethernet jack in the wall (not WAN/Internet port). It has ip 192.168.1.2 and DHCP is DISABLED.
All the devices on my network can see each other. Devices connecter to router 1 can see devices connected to router 2.The problem is, devices connected to router 2 cannot get to the Internet. I verified clients connecting to router 2 are assigned the same DNS addresses and the same gateway 192.168.1.1 as the clients connected to router 1. But for some reason router 2 doesn't know how to router Internet traffic out through router 1?
I tried plugging the LAN cable into the Internet/WAN port on Router 2 but then devices on Router 2 can no longer see devices on Router 1. I've seen discussions of setting up router 2 on its own subnet: 192.168.2.1 instead of 192.168.1.2 but then supposedly devices on router 2 will still not be able to see devices on router 1.
I'm guessing router 2 can't access the Internet because it is default configured to send Internet traffic to the Internet port, no t the LAN port. how to configure it so all devices on both routers see each other and router 2 devices can get to the Internet.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI connected EA6500 internet port to actiontec router provided by Verizon fios. I don't have any other way to connect as FIOS connection is coax to actiontec modem. I must take a drop from actiontec to internet port on EA6500.
With that said, I can't get EA6500 to work, it keeps saying no internet. The only way I can get it to work is when I set it to bridge mode. This makes my EA6500 a dumb switch/access point. I didn't spend $200 for a switch. I need to use advanced features offered by this router but I can't until this problem is fixed. I made sure I am running latest version of firmware (1.1.28.146856).
I have reset my fios router as well as ea6500 to factory defaults multiple times.
I have a problem with the e4200 router and a mybook 1 TB connected to it. The media server works fine but after a while i loose contact with the router and the server this means that the Cisco connect doesn't work, the 192.168.1.1 doesn't work and I can't find the disk via \. I do have internet connection via wifi as im using it now....why I loose connection to the router? The lease time is 24h and it can happen more than once in a day.

I usually power down the router after midnight & power up in the morning and evevry time it can connect to internet through DSL modem without problem until this Feb. Most of the time after powering up the router it just can't connect to internet anymore. I am sure the AT&T DSL modem is working. I have to reboot/reset the router & DSL modem several time to get router to connect to internet again. The order of resetting/rebooting DSL modem & E3200 router seems to make no difference. It just appears suddenly the router can connect to internet by chance. I changed router IP and it didn't work either. It's really annoying becuase I have to spend 10~40 minutes to resetting/rebooting DSL modem & router to get internet connection every day.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThe internet at my parents house has recently gone on the fritz..the wireless router is a N600 Wireless Dual Band Router WNDR3400..The computers of the house are able to connect to it..But it does not allow internet connections..The 3 computers are an HP Laptop running windows 7.a Dell Dimension E521 Running windows 7 & and an older HP Walmart special running XP.They can connect to outside systems and through a wired connection to the Modem from Cable vision. They replaced the wireless router and the problem continues.Internet is capable by plugging directly into the Cable vision router,unfortunately do not have the cables to try through the Netgear router to test that out..
