View 1 RepliesI have a Linksys Wireless router WRT54G, I am trying to connect a IBM Thinkpad T42 with Windows XP. I have the right Router name and password, but all I keep getting is "Acquiring Network Address", but not connection. Running "WPA" on security. The laptop works fine when connected directly to the router via cable.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an IBM Thinkpad T42 Model 2373.This morning I had to factory reset it, and lost all of my drivers. Slowly, I'm getting them back, but I've lost my wireless internet ability. I've attempted to turn my wireless on, it says IBM Wireless Adaptors (802.11 or bluetooth) are not installed on this system. My card is an Intel(R) Pro/1000 MT Mobile Connections, and I understand that this isn't a wireless card. But. I've had wireless working for the past year and a half...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried everything - virus checks, HijackThis, disabling services and startup. I have three tabs set for home (CNN, Yahoo and Gmail). Gmail connects but I can't access any other sites. Also Outlook 2007 connects to the MS Exchange Server. The behavior is a little weird because when I first boot up, all my tabs load properly but then after a minute or two, I press the "home" button and suddenly nothing will connect (except Gmail, which still continues to connect). All has been fine for years and then all of a sudden this happened when I returned from a business trip (had the computer with me and everything was fine). I have ruled out router and other connection issues. In Safe Mode, the connections are just fine. As a last resort, I may reinstall XP but I would obviously prefer not to.I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T400, running XP SP3.

I have a thinkpad, and my friend next door said I could use their wireless which is set up through COX. I click on the icon at the lower right that shows wireless strength and a window opens up called "access connections" I don't know what to do from there. I see the wireless icon for the one next door on the diagram, I click on it which highlights it, then I click on "connect". It looks like it is going to connect because a green bar starts to fill in the "location" : "name" place, but then a little window pops up that says "connection failed.Recommended action: Verify that the encryption settings (WEP/TKIP/AES) specified in this profile match those expected by the wireless network.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter working fine for months, the network on my ThinkPad R61i has become slow and intermittent. Often after a reboot, it will work fine... then after several hours it will get slower and slower to load pages, sometimes failing to load them entirely. Usually, after several minutes of inactivity, I can refresh a bunch of stalled pages and they'll all load fine, and it will work again okay for a few minutes, then slow down again. Often a reboot will clear it up, but not always. .
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've spent several hours trying to see if it's even worth trying to upgrade my old Thinkpad i1400, which has Windows 98 and only a modem internet connection. Obviously in today's world it's wireless or nothing. So...I've read that I could upgrade to Windows 98SE, and on [url]... the used disk is only about $15. I also read that 98SE has a lot of glitches. However, I already have an XP disk (don't know how I got it) but it may be corrupted, because it never finishes the installation on the thinkpad---goes completely blank after about 10 minutes. One problem is the limited hard disk space on the i1400 --- about 2.5 GB for both the C and D drives respectively. There is less than 1 GB on the C drive free and XP takes up almost 800 MB. I'm afraid to wipe clean Win98 and replace it with XP, and for some reason I can't install XP to the D drive. Even if I could accomplish this, will XP be the magic bullet that gets me wireless on this dinosaur of a laptop?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am unable to locate my wireless adapter on IBM Thinkpad R50 after I had to re-install Windows XP. It was not the cd that goes to the laptop, as I did not have one because I bought the laptop used. I went to the Lenovo website and have installed just about every driver on support page and still NOTHING.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've come across an older IBM ThinkPad 2687 via work that was just collecting dust, and it was able to connect to a wireless network.Due to other issues with the machine, I had to do a complete refresh on it, so it only had the XP OS.
I had to update the drivers to make sure other things like connecting to a flash drive, and connecting to a local area was possible, which is how I'm able to connect now. However, I've been unable to access the wireless connection within Network connections. I've downloaded the different drivers from the Lenovo IBM ThinkPad website, but still no luck.
I 'm very happy with the AE1000 & got it to work with my A31p by using a USB 2.0 adapter; (it only has USB 1.0) I think the ThinkPad PCMCIA card is faulty because it only works for a brief time & then dies (works fine with current machines)--then I noticed that the newest driver supports USB 1.0 but exactly how is that file implemented? I don't see .exe files, etc, & want to try to use the new driver--I'm using the latest XP--is there a step-by-step tutorial describing how to use the new driver?

I have recently set up a linux SFTP server at my home and am trying to access it via my public ip (eg 1.1.1.1), the problem is this public IP goes to the router which doesnt pass on the requests to the server.Last summer when i first messed around with this i had no problems with using the public ip to access the server, its only recently.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust successfully replaced a WRT54GL with E2500 as my primary router. Everything went great and the setup of the new router was easy enough. Everything just works.
Except one thing: the new router doesn't act as a DNS server on my network. Therefore, my network shares do not reconnect and I cannot ping the machines using their network name, only their IP addresses. Running ipconfig /all shows 192.168.2.1 as my default gateway and DHCP server, but not as a DNS server. I'm positive that my "old" WRT54GL was acting as my DNS server
I have several ports opened on my DIR-655 A3, pointing to specific ports on a NAS server i have on my network.
I've already try this:
- Reboot the router
- Erase all Virtual Server Settings and try open only one port
- Re-flash the router with latest European firmware - 1.34b05EU
I recently bought a Bose Soundlink bluetooth speaker and have paired it with both my ipod touch and ThinkPad w500. The iPod Touch sounds great, but the audio coming through the speaker via the w500 sounds like it is clipping, especially at normal-loud listening levels. Both the soundlink and the w500 have the latest bluetooth driver updates installed. The clipping occurs even when the main volume (and iTunes/Spotify) is turned down to 50% power.whether there is a way to reduce the "power" of the bluetooth signal so it does not cause the speaker to distort. Audio played through the speaker via 3.5mm from the w500 sounds great even at high volume.
Currently installed bluetooth drivers:
Bluetooth Enumerator (Microsoft)
ThinkPad Bluetooth 2.1 with Enhanced Data Rate (Broadcom)
Bluetooth Hands-free Audio (Broadcom)
Bluetooth Remote Control (Broadcom)

I have a RVS4000 with client VPNs setup and have created all 5 users......trouble I run into is that when one of the users attempts to connect to the VPN from a second device (ie the sixth device to connect to the VPN), the connection does not establish....cannot ping remote server (using QuickVPN). In looking at the logs, the device that isn't working is getting a different IP (172.16 vs 192.168). I know I'm limited to 5 users, but am I limited to 5 devices as well?

I'm trying to connect a Cisco 2811 using an octal cable to a Juniper MX480 console port.Since the distance between Cisco 2811 and router is 20ft, im using couplers and a straight-through cable for the lack of slack. This wiring doesnt work, however in another city it works going straight from the Cisco 2811 octal cable to the router since they are in the same rack.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought a new WRVS400n recently because it had Gigabit speed, wireless n and a built in VPN server. The device works perfect except for the Quick VPN client. I'm a system engineer so I thought I could set it up quite easy just like any other device I configured in the past. Painfull but it isn't like this.
I set up the VPN on the WRVS4400n and generated a certificate. I saved both the client and admin certificate to my pc, I gave them a name to easily make up the difference between both of them. When placing the certificate in the installed QuickVPN folder, it doesn't seem to get recognised by the QuickVPN software. When I try to connect, it says 'Server's certificate doens't exist on your local computer'. I guess the naming convention must meet some kind of format, is that correct? If so, this should have been described in the documentation.
Besides that I checked if the required ports used by the VPN server are open on the public port of the device, that is the case. So It seems I'm quite close to get it working.
The version of QuickVPN I used is 1.4.2.1. The WRVS4400n has the latest firmware loaded.
I am using ASA5520 with webvpn for file sharing. But recently we just upgraded the OS that accommodate file shared folder from win2003 R2 32bit to windows server 2008 R2 64bit. Now I have a problem with accessing file share by ASA webvpn, it appears error contacting host, we have tested the file shared of webvpn on the other OS windows 2003 and windows 2008, they are working on these OS except win2008 R2. Current the ASA OS version is 8.0(2). And the windows firewall has been disabed.

Both of them seem to discover and successfully connect to my media server however only MP3s and certain MPG files are detected. None of the AVI files show up.I have upgraded my E4200 firmware to 1.0.03 hoping that would fix the problem but it didn't. I don't want to run a Windows based media server as I don't have a computer that I can leave on all the time.

Later on I've uninstalled the LABTEC software, but still its no use.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy problem is that whenever I switch my pc on I have to physically enable the WZC program and then select windows to manage my wireless network settings. Once I enable it this way it is fine, but then if I restart or shut down my pc then I have to do all the process again...which is rather annoying!I have a BT Home Hub 2.0 and Cisco WUSB600N dual band wireless adapter.I understand you have to choose one program to manage the wireless network settings as they conflict, but on the Network Magic program that comes with the Cisco adapter, I cannot find an option on there to disable it.There is another pc using the hub with an exact same adapter aswell and when that is switched on the broadband connection automatically loads on that. So I am a bit stuck, I've trawled the internet for answers but have come to a dead end.
