I'm trying to connect a Cisco 2811 using an octal cable to a Juniper MX480 console port.Since the distance between Cisco 2811 and router is 20ft, im using couplers and a straight-through cable for the lack of slack. This wiring doesnt work, however in another city it works going straight from the Cisco 2811 octal cable to the router since they are in the same rack.
View 4 RepliesI've got a 3560-X that passes POST according to console, but there are issues nonetheless...USB console doesn't work. RJ45 works just fine. No status lights turn on at any point (e.g. syst, xps...). 10g network module is installed with a 10g LRM SFP. All lights on the module are amber. However, it passes according to POST. Switch passes traffic, obeys config, etc. Link lights on RJ45 ports work fine. This was brand new out of the box. Thinking about trying IOS reload..

I know these are no longer supported, but I have to ready them for migration. Recently a problem began with these switches. What happens is that when I telnet to them, I cannot authenitcate via TACACS. This works fine for all our other IOS equipment, just not for these 2 switches. The error is:" % Error in authentication" and then I get kicked back to the login prompt.
The odd thing is that when I connect to the switch via the console port, I can authenticate fine with TACACS.

My router is Cisco 2811 with IOS version 12.4(22)T1. It had established IPSec with another peer (203.*.*.250 shown below) for long until recently we make it re-establish IPSec VPN with another peer (203.*.*.30 shown below). It showed that the new sa is active but the result still showed there were 4 deleted SAs. The 4 obsolete sa entries won't vanish no matter what I do i.e. reset the interface, re-create crypto map, clear all sa and etc.
From numerous testings we knew that the VPN doesn't work even the desired sa is there remaining active. I reckon it has something to do with those deleted sas ( i mean it is supposed to show only the last one if it is working fine ). I don't know how it would be come like this as we did pretty much the samething on other VPN routers with no problems.
I have a set-up with multiple C2960 and C3750 switches. All these devices are being managed remotely. So basically I login to C2901, which is used as a Terminal Server, and reverse SSH to the console of each device. That's - I have assigned an IP to each port of the terminal server so that I can SSH directly to the desired device through via the mapped IP.
Now, recently I had to restart couple of switches - one C2960 and C3750. I initiated the reboot via console connection remotely. I could see the device logs for some time and then the logs stopped and there was no reaction from the console irrespective of any command I tried to enter.
I tried resetting the line on the terminal server, but that didn't work.
Now when I try to SSH the IP mapped to console of that particular device - i dont get any login prompt and there is no effect on device after giving any command. Although i can see the logs on the console session - but cant do anything.
I have a second way of connecting the device via inband- management, and checked the device config found it correct. It is same as other devices which are working correctly.
Both C3750 and C2960 are behaving exactly same - can see logs on console but see effect of even pressing enter - not getting login prompt as well.
I created the configuration below to limit the bandwidth, but doesn't work

I have PC_A and PC_B connected to the same switch, and are put in the same vlan. PC_A is the master (source) and PC_B is the destination (client). IGMP Snooping is enabled by default.
Is there any reason why this should fail? There is no RP or any interface with PIM enabled. Its a flat network with a source and client in the same vlan...

Console and telnet don't seem to auto authorize to level 15, I end up at level 1, I'm forced to use enable command.
Rolling back to c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-58.SE2 fixes it. Going back to c3750e-universalk9-tar.150-1.SE breaks it again.
is there some new behavior in cat 15 code (couldn't find it in config guide)? maybe a bug (couldn't find one)?

We just purchased a Nexus 7010 switch and we are at a stand still with our COLO trying to figure out what power source should be provided. APC recommends a 50amp 3phase vertical cabinet PDU (AP7867). What type of power sourcereakers will be sufficient in handling the Nexus 7k /w (3) power supplies? Do the COLO need to provide single phase or 3 phase power recepticals?

But recently we just upgraded the OS that accommodate file shared folder from win2003 R2 32bit to windows server 2008 R2 64bit. Now I have a problem with accessing file share by ASA webvpn, it appears error contacting host, we have tested the file shared of webvpn on the other OS windows 2003 and windows 2008, they are working on these OS except win2008 R2. Current the ASA OS version is 8.0(2). And the windows firewall has been disabed.

A month ago my ISP was routing half my subnet (129-254) over DSL. I just moved and routing no longer works without NAT. The issue is probably with the new DSL 'modem,' a zhone 1611-A1, but I am not sure how it should be configured.The 1611 is connected to a WRT610N, which works in NAT mode with the following settings:[code] With the previous settings, networking doesn't work from a workstation, though I can traceroute from the 610. I would like all workstations on the "LAN" to have fully addressable internet addresses like the previous configuration.There is an admin interface on the 1611, but the cursory settings I've tried don't work and I'm not a routing expert. The ISP is kindly routing my network, but they don't provide much support.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a 6513 with redundant sup 720-3B's that I cannot get onto. In short, one of the power supplies failed, it still passes traffic but I can't console or ssh to the box. Other than the two sup 720's, I have a 4 port 10gig card, a 16 port GBIC Card and an IDS module. I have tried removing the 10Gig, IDS and one of the sup's but still don't get anything on the console. I have rebooted the entire chassis and don't get anything on my console while booting. I have tried changing the speed of my terminal to every setting available incase someone has changed it at some stage but to no avail. I have tried swapping sup's, using only one at a time in the chassis but not getting anything. Is there anything else I can try to get onto this chassis? The power supply is a 3000w with a 32amp input. The failed power supply had tripped a switch, when i brought it back up, the power supply came out but the output failed LED is on. My #questions are, is there anything else I can do to try get onto the console, and is the power supply goosed when the RED LED is lit? I have reseated the power supply also but the same result.

However when I open my terminal application (tera term) After I select the right com port (3) and make sure the connection settings are right. It will just sit idle and not show any data from the device. Was I sold a faulty device? It lights up and has three lights on.
Everytime I look at a manual or cisco video I am given the impression the terminal application will just automatically connect. But whenever I try I get nothing.

Much to my dismay, I have been able to get http and https enabled, and then authenticating locally for the HTTP access. I then come to the screen once authenticated which is shown below:
The issue is that when I select "Web Console", it gives me a "Web Page Cannot be found".
I have 2 3750-x members in a stack running 12.2(58)SE2. I am able to console into the stack master, which happens to be the top switch, but not able to console into the 2nd member. I get the screen stating the console is available but never get the prompt to login. Is this expected behavior?On our stacks of 3750v2's, I'm able to console to any switch in the stack?

today I received a Cisco 1841 Router with a problem i have never seen before. Maybe this my 1st really,really broken Cisco Router. When I power the Router on, the fan and all lights turn on (green) and that's it. Nothing changes, also after minutes of wating. On console i don't get any messages and I already tried every BAUD rate possible. Switched the router off/on again and again. And no, it's obviously not a console problem of my computer, because i tried with different routers.
