I have a modem/router, planet adw 4401, and i hadn't turned it on for about two months. A couple of days ago, i turned it on. And the Lan connection doesn't work. The lights just turn on at the moment i turn on the router and then they do not turn on. Ok , so i tried connecting through wireless . It did connect but it says no internet access.I'm a bit confuse in what's the problem

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been having a really annoying issue with my computer not connecting to the internet wirelessly I start the computer, and a connection is there via my router for about 30secs-2mins. After this, I can't access any websites. The full five bars remain white and the router is still seen by the computer, but there is a small yellow exclamation sign in front of it, and a mouse-over says "no internet access". I can still access when wired to the router through a cable, so I thought it might be an issue with my wireless card, but wireless USB adapters don't make a difference, even when I've disabled the wireless card. My drivers are all up to date, and I've even tried a full reformat and reinstall of Windows 7, to no avail. Other devices (a couple of computers and phones) can connect to the router fine, and the network even tried a new router, with no success. I have experienced this immediately after the reinstall, before either firewall (I use ZoneAlarm Free) or AV (I use Avast! Free) were installed, and I'm completely stuck.

I thought it was a driver verifier problem so I turned off it and I still had the Internet problem. I tried going back using system restore and I still have the problem. Screen shots are attached.

Basically both the wireless connection and LAN connection in my house were working fine until a couple of days ago. I got one of those viruses that redirects all the links that you go on to random websites on the main PC. I ran a full scan with McAfee Antivirus Plus and it came up with nothing. My brother suggested i try downloading malwarebytes on my laptop and installing it on the PC to get rid of it. Malwarebytes picked up the virus and got rid of it. I restarted the computer and when i tried to access the internet on the PC the message on the browser says "Could not connect". My wireless is fine, but the wired connection to the PC is not. When i look at it on the PC it says that it is connected but the browsers show no connection.

This morning both machine have the same problem; IE and FF are unable to connect to the internet. Same goes for my smartphone; it can connect to the WiFi network but is unable to browse internet. Funny thing is, I have a stand alone IPphone connected to the same router and it works fine. I have a WRT160N v3 at home, it's been working well. I usually only have an old Toshiba Satelite on the network, which runs G IIRC.I had the network setup as open without a password (I don't really have any neighbors nearbye) however when a new computer tries to get on my network, I usually have to hit the 'sync' or w/e button on the router for the computer to get on. I'm happy with that setup, and it seems to have been working fine.

When I go to the itouch settings>networks it shows our network with a lock, but I put in the key and it says "unable to join xxx network" (dismiss). I have tried the password with and w/o dashes, I've checked the router on my hardwired computer and found the password there, so I know I have the right one. I've unplugged the router in the hopes to reboot, but no difference. I have briefly jumped on my neighbor's unlocked network, so I know the itouch works.

Today, the PC will not connect to the internet. The Network and Sharing center in control panel shows that the PC is connected to both the wireless network and the wired network, but with no internet connectivity. All other computers and devices in the house are able to connect to the internet. Tried restarts, virus scans, router power off/on, ipconfig /release and renew, all with no luck. When I try and ping other computers in the LAN or the router I get a "General Failure" message.

I'll click on a new tab and type in any website, but it won't load. In addition to the problems I have connecting to the internet, once my computer begins to have these problems, I can't open anything. I'll try to open my documents, Microsoft Word, etc. but nothing will open/start up. The icon on the task bar will appear for a few moments before disappearing and nothing happens. I can't access my task manager, and more often than not, if I click on my task bar, it'll freeze. It doesn't have a specific pattern; it will work fine, and then out of nowhere, everything just...stops working properly. I'll restart my computer manually and everything will be fine, but eventually, it will freeze again.Whether it's relevant or not, my computer has given me the blue screen of death a few times..

When I setup the IAP as number 1, I add the MAC address of the computer in question. I then Select Allow and choose Everyday and 24 Hours. I type in the forbidden domains and click add after each one. I type in the keywords and click add after each one. After I click on Save, all of my computers on the network lose internet access.

Currently, this building has 3 wiring closets, and each closet has 2 Intel Standalone 460 switches (24 ports). We use them as simple Layer 2 Switches. Nothing fancy.We recently bought 3 48 port HP Procurve Gigabit switches.I was planning on going in and swapping the 2 Intel Switches out with the HP Procurve Switches. The first closet went fine, and we had immediate connectivity (servers, Internet, etc.). However, when I went to the second closet I found that I could not connectivity back to the first closet.I then noticed the patch cable going from Closet A to Closet B is terminated with a female connection on both end. And then a patch cable is connected from the end, to the switch at both sites. I have never seen this before. And I hope I am making sense. Why would this method work with the old Intel switches (that are close to 10 years old) and not with the HP?
