I am using a broadband internet of a provider named BSNL,through a simple modem. Recently I got a Beetel 450BX1 ADSL2 + Router and want to use the wireless capability of the laptop so that I don't have to be glued to my table. The OS I'm using is Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit) on an HP Compaq 6515b.I configured the modem by following the instructions in the following link url...I believe that's a straightforward method for configuring a router, and that accomplishing this is very simple.I followed the steps, only changed the username and password to that given by BSNL.Then, finally I unplugged the LAN cable and clicked on Connect to <connection name>, punched in the serial key. But it does not connect and says "Windows was unable to connect". Even after using Windows Network Troubleshooter the problem is not solved.

The network still appears on my computer and I can connect to it, however Internet pages will not load. This lasts for hours, sometimes days. If I unplug the modem from the router and connect directly to the modem via Ethernet, everything works fine! I have tried unplugging everything for 1 minute then plugging it back in and it does nothing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedBasically, my internet's been fine until about a week ago. I'm currently using the Aztech DSL1000EW router/modem which has been working great up to now. My problem is this: after about 5-30 minutes (time fluctuates, annoying because after 15 minutes of continuous usage you think the problem's solved!) all webpages suddenly become 'unavailable'. I've disabled proxies under LAN settings, tried flushing DNS, resetting winsock with the netsh commands but to no avail. To get the internet to work again, I can just go to my router page, click disconnect and reconnect and it'll work for another 5-30 minutes.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy desktop recently broke so i bought my first laptop. I have AT&T DSL and i bought a new D-Link DSL-2640B modem/router so i could have wireless internet. I installed it and i was able to use it with the ethernet cable, however when i tried to use wifi, it worked for only about 2 minutes before it disconnected.. Now when i try again it says that it is connected (full 5 bars) but it also says there is no internet access and i cannot use the internet.
Also, before, with the old modem i was able to just connect the ethernet cable to the laptop and just start using the internet. Now i have to connect by putting in my username and password provided by my ISP almost like if it was dial up. I don't know why i have to do this now but not before.

View 16 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get wireless internet set up again and have run into a big issue. Previous wireless router was also a WRT54G and she had problems. I gave her my old one that I was no longer using, but it was still working with no problems.
The problem that I am having is that we are unable to get internet through the wireless router. We are able to get the desktop connected to the internet when we plug it directly into the DSL modem, but when we plug the wireless modem into the DSL modem and the desktop into the wireless modem, then we don't get any internet connection at all.
I had her do a factory reset on modem so that we were starting fresh. I have also tried unplugging both modems and then pluggin in the DSL and then Wireless modem, with no change. We have the ability to get into wireless settings page, but I'm not sure what in there to change that would make any difference on this one.
I know that this problem isn't actually a wireless problem, but it has to be related to the modem. We haven't even been able to get to the wireless part of the set up and we are already running into problems.
The internet was working on and off for a few days but yesterday and now today it has not been working. The router I have connected is fine and the laptops and xbox that I am trying to get internet on connect to the router but will not connect to the internet. The modem is what I believe the problem is however,I am not that great in the networking department. I have a Westell 6100 it is Verizon DSL.

I reset the router because I didn't have the password to get in and haven't been able to get the connection back since. When I'm connected directly to the modem, I'm sending but not receiving packets. I'm unable to ping the modem ip, or yahoo.com. I've tried manually configuring and using DHCP. I also cannot access the modem's configuration page. (After i initially reset the router, when I tried to access the router's configuration page and was directed to the modem configuration page). When I'm plugged in to the router, I am able to get to the router config page - but still no internet connection. The modem does not have a hard reset (the reset button only resets the login name/password). I've spoken with two people at my ISP who told me different things - one that I couldn't use PPPoe and one told me I should be using it. When I spoke with them this afternoon, I was told that he tried to ping my connection and he could not. They're going to have someone call me sometime tomorrow, but this is the internet connection in a busy office and we need to be up and running when business starts tomorrow.

He just got the home phone service from comcast and the phone line is setup through the modem. Ever since comcast came to his apartment and set this up the home phone service to his modem the router is connected but there is no internet access. What is going on and how can I fix this. We had some issues with computer freezing on some webpages or after being on webpages for awhile (like facebook). Yesterday it froze and I could not get it back on. When he got home he did scan disk (which I also did) and got it working after going into safe mode and doing system restore. He said an update had gotten through and messed things up. Anyhow, after he was on it a few hours last night, we lost connection. I figured the crazy weather was the culprit but it has been off all day. Our router is working and connecting but the adapter is not. Also our home phone says there is no line. We have unplugged everything several times, checked to make sure everything is in the right spots, I have even reset the router and rebooted the adapter. I uninstalled and restalled the adapter also. It is now telling me that "the connection between your access point, router, or cable modem and the Internet is broken". The only lights I have on the adapter are power, battery, DS and now the US light is blinking. The online and link lights are not on.

When both are powered up, the wireless router sometimes doesn't get internet access because the modem automatically logs itself in. I have to plug the modem cable to my laptop, manually disconnect the modem, and plug the modem cable back to the router to fix it.

My connection speed is 30 gb up and 5 GB down.Until now I used a Linksys WRT54GV ver. 2 router to share my connection between my computers and NAS server and it worked ok. In speed tests I normally get approx 25 - 28 GB speed. To optain more speed on my LAN I want to buy a GB router. And here started my problems. First I tried a D-link DIR655, then a Netgear WNDR3700 and latest a Linksys E3000. I all 3 occations my WAN speed droped drasticaly down to between 3 - 5 GB speed, at under a ping test I have a loss of between 10 - 30 % and time on approx 50 ms.If I connect my PC directly to the modem or re-connect my old router it works perfect. I have tried to replace cables etc. etc.

My dial-up connection just couldn't handle all the garbage they try to push down through your internet connection these days.
Well, yesterday my new ZyXEL PK5000z modem was delivered, so I followed the instructions and hooked it up to one of my computers. All the lights on the front of the modem turned green, but I was unable to connect to the internet from the computer I had the modem connected to.I tried disabling my software firewall and my LAN, to no avail.I called CenturyLink tech support and they told me that from their end they could see that my modem was working just fine, so the problem was in my computer and so I'm on my own trying to make it work.
The computer I've connected the DSL modem to is a Dell Inspiron 1150 running Windows XP Home.I have that computer connected to two other computers via a network switch and have a dial-up modem installed on it.
I am connected to my network wirelessly and I have Internet acces (according to the symbol at the bottom right) bu the Internet doesn't work. At the moment it keeps fluctuating between giving me interne and not I am using Skype to tell me if I have Internet ( when it's green I do when it's grey I don't) I have tried many things on forums like obtaining ip automatically or obtaining a fixed ip. I've tried renewing the ip and all this doesnt work.

most service providers in our country dont have 3G or 4G support,but all the same i bought an MR3420 router in the hopes that since my modem is listed,it would still connect even if on an EDGE/2G network like YU-Kenya.But this is not the case,the router does not recognize the modem i.e it says the modem is unplugged but when i look at the logs,it indicated it detected the modem but LTE was set to zero. providing a modem bin file for compatibility under EDGE/2G connection otherwise my router will be of no use to me.

Today i purchased brand new Tp-Link MR-3420 3G/4G router for my BSNL EVDO modem..as this product is shown to support ZTE AC8700 modem...but it doesnt seem to work.. I put the right dial-up number,user name and password that i use when i connect modem to laptop and left APN field blank...The modem gets identified by the router but it just don't connect to internet,it just keeps saying "connecting.....". Also the signal strength is shown 0%... If your modem is really supporting ZTE AC8700 modem why its not working?

My Hardware version is v2.Just now I bought this router. When I am trying to configure it with default firmware is not identifying the modem itself. So Afyter facing this problem, I updated my Router firmware(TL-MR3220_v_2_120822) and retry the process. But this time, It identified the modem for few seconds, then its changes its trying to connecting, after that its change it state to unplugged. It is doing these steps repeatably. When I looked up the internet connection status, for the packets that I received 236, I only receive 30-40. When I click repair, it said the IP address already renewed. However, the internet still not working. When I use my laptop to browse the internet, it said the same thing, internet connected but cannot browse at all.
I tried so many things, such as clearing the DNS cache, releasing and renewing IP address, I did set the properties of the wireless connection to obtain DNS and IP automatically, I tried pinging, I turned off all my firewalls, I tried system restore, but still not working.
I run cmd /all, it got the following information:

Later on, I did restart everything again, the packets that I received only 26, and didn't receive anything at all.
I have a Linksys WRT54GS, version 6 with Mac OS X (version 10.6.8) hooked up to a Scientific Atlantic cable modem, with RCN as the ISP.
Recently, RCN had some network issues, and so I had to power down and reset my modem. The modem is working fine now -- no problems at all when the Mac is connected direclty to the modem.
The router's network is OK in that I can connect the Mac wirelessly to the network, but I can't connect to the internet through the router (through neither the wireless or wired connection).
I have downloaded the latest firmware update for the router, following the Linksys site instructions.
I did call Linksys tech support on the advice of RCN, and they said that the router does appear to be working (power, WLAN, and Internet lights are on), but they would be charging me nearly the cost of a new router to fix the problem.
I've been given a used Dell Latitude laptop and need to access the web to register Microsoft Office, which is currently unlicensed on my machine. I took the cable connector from the back of my PC and put it into the port of the Dell, hoping that that would be sufficient. However, it doesn't connect. The gubbins that is displayed for the local area connection status says something about 80 packets sent and only 8 received.

At this point I'm assuming it's a Linksys issue since I know that my Verizon modem can connect me to the internet, so works properly. Is there some known incompatibility with this Linksys model and the Westell 6100G modem?
I am at my wits end.Comcast just changed my old RCA cable modem for an Arris Telephony modem.(I had Comcast phone service added)The tech that did the install said the wireless G network was all up and running. (My 3 other computers and printer) Well lo and behold the network does not work at all. I only get internet through my wired computer and cannot access my router through 192.168.1.1 anymore.I tried powering down the router and modem by holding the reset for 30 seconds and unplugging them.
