Connecting To Internet Using Wireless Router?
Dec 18, 2011I was giving a RHO 7" notebookbook that was bought in korea, but I can,t seem to get it to connect to the internet, i have a wireless router from att that i use on my toshiba laptop and other devices such as psp and i don't have a problem connecting them although the wireless signal is being picked up i can't seem to connect with the notebook

Jan 17, 2012I am trying to get neighbour wireless router working. He has a D-Link DIR-615 Wireless N 300 Router. I have gotten the router working by manually putting in his PPPoE settings. Now with a wired XP SP3 computer connected via Ethernet, it can access the internet. We then configured his router for WPA2 with AES encryption. We were able to connect up his phone which can handle a WiFi connection. He was able to surf the web using the WPA2 passphrase. So far, so good. The last bit was the upstairs computer which has a PCI D-Link wireless N card in it. That computer runs XP SP2 and we have not been able to get it to connect to the internet.We have tried both Windows networking, and the D-Link Wireless management software. We were unable to get WPA2 working, so we tried WPA, WEP, and finally no security. In each case, we can get the computer to connect to the router by putting in the passphrase (except when no security), and the status changes to Connected. But then browsers are not able to open any internet site.
I have checked the ipconfig settings, they seem to be correct. DHCP is providing the computer with a valid local IP (192.168.0.102), and the gateway is correctly listing the D-Link router.Subnet mask is 255.255.255.0. The downstairs Ethernet connected computer has an IP of 192.168.0.100, so they are on the same subnet.We have tried turning "Windows Wireless Zero Configuration" service off, and also tried with it on.We have switched between using the D-Link client and allowing Windows to manage wireless settings. It finds the wireless network, and connects with the passphrase with a good strong signal, but internet persists in not working.I do not have MAC Filtering turned on.I have turned off the Windows Firewall on the wireless computer. What else am I missing?

I am currently using the ipad to post.At first when i choose my internet connection, it will automativally try and detect the network type, then tell me that "windows is unable to connect to the selected network". I have read other user posts and went to the wireless properties and changed the network authentication to shared and unclicked the "key index". Now, when i click on my wireless network it will automatically ask me to enter my network key. Jan 12, 2013I've been having a really annoying issue with my computer not connecting to the internet wirelessly I start the computer, and a connection is there via my router for about 30secs-2mins. After this, I can't access any websites. The full five bars remain white and the router is still seen by the computer, but there is a small yellow exclamation sign in front of it, and a mouse-over says "no internet access". I can still access when wired to the router through a cable, so I thought it might be an issue with my wireless card, but wireless USB adapters don't make a difference, even when I've disabled the wireless card. My drivers are all up to date, and I've even tried a full reformat and reinstall of Windows 7, to no avail. Other devices (a couple of computers and phones) can connect to the router fine, and the network even tried a new router, with no success. I have experienced this immediately after the reinstall, before either firewall (I use ZoneAlarm Free) or AV (I use Avast! Free) were installed, and I'm completely stuck.

Oct 20, 2012My laptop (Windows 7) has problems connecting the the wireless network at my school. I can connect fine at home.When I get to school, my laptop picks up the internet - there is internet connection/wireless. But I cannot access the internet after I open the web browser. As a school policy, as soon as the browser is open, it is directed automatically to a "Web Authentication" page. But my laptop does not allow it to connect to that page.
I asked the IT technician at school and he said that there is a problem with the DNS connecting automatically. He changed the settings to do so, but when he opens the network protocol again, the DNS is changed back to a preferred DNS number and it will not allow me to automatically pick up the DNS when I am at school. (Once again, it works fine at home).

Apr 9, 2011Just got an HDTV, has a load of fancy internet stuff, but only has a wired connection and I can't put my router in this room, and would rather not have to run a wire up from downstairs.
I'm guessing there is a way of connecting to the wireless on my laptop in this room, connect the laptop to the tv via an ethernet cabe, and bridge the connections or something so that my tv gets the internet from the laptop. That's gotta be possible, no? When I try it tho, the connections bridge, but the tv says "Gateway is not connected, gateway address wrong or unavailable". Using auto IP.

Jan 13, 2011Whenever i connect a particular acer laptop to the internet at work via the wireless, internet access is lost after a period that ranges from 30 minutes to 1 hour and i have to reboot the VSAT modem to restore internet connectivity. This cycle of rebooting the vsat modem to restore internet access goes on and on until the problematic laptop is powered off.Initially i thought the problem was with the modem since i always had to restart it, but i noticed that if i didnt take that laptop to work, internet access stayed up the whole day.The acer laptop is enabled for DHCP and connects to a cisco wireless acess point that is connected to a cisco 2960 series switch which is in turn connected to the VSAT modem.

Nov 19, 2012My WRT54GL Linksys modem has me stumped, it will not connect no matter what I try. it worked fine until just recently after a power outage; everything seems to be working perfectly fine hardware wise; the router shows a solid power led and network activity on WLAN, Ethernet, and Internet. I've tried soft resets and factory reset, clearing my caches, releasing/renewing IPCONFIG.
The peculiar part is that it is not letting me access the web config at 192.168.1.1 while connected with the modem, however if I plug the router directly to my PC's ethernet port I can access the config; Itried updating the firmware this way but it didn't solve the problem. I have no more ideas.

I own a TL-WR1043ND. Until recently it has been working like clock work but after a power cut it seems to have lost its settings. Currently there is a WiFi network: both my iMac and my MacBook Pro manage to create a network between them and i can access / transfer files from one to the other without any problems what so ever. My Gmail app on my iPhone also updates emails on this same network. But when i try to browse the web on both Safari or Firefox or check my email on Mail (OSX email client) I am not being allowed to do so. Its as though there is not internet connection. The same thing is happening to my wife when she is using her Nexus 7.
Unfortunately i have lost my DVD with the setup files and I am there for not managing to access the settings of the router. I have tried searching the web to find the downloadable software but it turns out the only ones that i found are for Windows only.The only way to access the web and update my emails etc is when i connect to the modem via Ethernet cable.
