View 5 RepliesUpon turning on the computer, the wireless will not connect. It seems to not recognize the configuration of the wireless. I have to go in and put in the key every time... and then there are times that it says "limited or no connectivity". We just had a new router/modem installed in our network just yesterday. This router/modem is in conjunction with cable tv difficulties we were having.

View 14 Replies View RelatedWe have a new HP G72 with windows 7. The wireless button turns the WLAN on and off, but the light stays amber, it is suppose to switch to blue. I still cannot connect to internet, troubleshoot and it says wireless capability is turned off. I have updated the driver, it is realtek rlt8191se, with 12/03/2010 software. I have tried uninstalling the device and reainstalling, still does not work. Went into the BIOS and enabled network adapter boot. Nothing in the BIOS about wireless. I updated everything else using the windows update to make sure that they did not have a fix. Windows mobility center says wireless is off but it will not let me select to turn it on. Other laptops are still able to see our wireless router, so it is not the router.

Is there a setting on either of these PC or router that need adjustment?
this model does not have a button and the fn key combo has no effect. The adaptor shows fine in device manager. How can I turn the wireless back on? I had this problem once before but can't remember how to turn it on.It seems like a box popped up asking if I wanted to restart the wireless.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron Laptop with Windows 7 and a PC with XP. The Laptop has Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN mini-card, i think it supports 802.11g. My PC has DLINK DWA 525 PCI WIRELESS card, this supports 802.11g and n. The wireless router is Belkin Surf Wireless Router (F7D2301zb).
Now, the problem i'm facing is when PC is connected first and later when laptop is connected, the computer gets disconnected. Laptop works fine. I have to restart the router to connect both.
Is it due to the difference in 802.11 G and N of Laptop and PC ?
I would like to set a time limit for how long a client can be continously connected to the WLAN that provides my guest internet access. The user name/password is hosted on my ACS and authentication is provided by my Cisco NAC. I am using 5508 controllers (7.02) and WCS.
Somewhere in this combination of stuff, there has to be a way to set a two hour time limit.
Every time I switch on one of our laptops it will not connect, once the router is restarted it works fine. We have 4 other devices which happily connect to the wireless connection first time.

my network isn't the most optimal at the moment. Starting from the router, it's a Thomson TG789vn my roommate has set up in his room. The service is DSL. I've connected my laptop to said WLAN from which I connect my access point turned DIR-600 to the internet and share it to my PC and Xbox 360.It works pretty well most of the time with 28 ping to a ~150 miles far server, yet sometimes I lose connection overall, or partly. For example, the Battlefield 3 beta stays connected to the internet while 3 different browsers are unable to load a single page. It seems like ongoing connection are unaffected while new ones don't work. The problem is usually fixed in a few seconds when I disconnect and reconnect the WLAN on my laptop.

I'm actually surprised it even works this well. how to optimize the whole thing or how to fix the partial lack of connectivity?

There's also an error message that says "The Dell Wireless WLAN Card is disabled. Use the Dell Wireless WLAN Utility to enable it." When I right click on the wireless network icon it says "No wireless networks were found in range. Make sure the wireless switch on your computer is on. To see an updated list, click 'Refresh network list.'" I don't have a wireless switch. I have a wireless enable icon and it says Enabled. My wireless network is working because my phone sees it and two other networks in the neighborhood. I couldn't find the Dell Wireless WLAN Utility. I also tried my iPhone hotspot. Laptop did not detect it either.

I want to use the repeater function of this router but when I follow the instructions given by asus I hit a wall. They say to switch to repeater mode, plug it into a client on the network, and then launch quick installation setup by opening an internet browser. Unfortunately when I use a wired connection to the old router I cannot even navigate the internet because my computer is interpreting it as being hard wired to the router for my old network. is there a way to factory reset the monitor?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI consider myself very technical and with pretty good knowledge of networking and routers, but I was baffled today. I was doing some testing and had a Firefox browser open with Pandora playing some music. I decided to reboot my router and much to my amazement, after pulling the power plug on the router, Pandora kept playing music as if nothing happened! It went on to play the entire 6 minute song then stopped when it attempted to go to the next song in the play list.I must admit I don't understand this. Even if it has something to do with a networking protocol I don't understand, the router is still needed for the physical (Ethernet wire) connections from my PC to the router and then ultimately through the cable modem to the internet. Of course, I did NOT turn off the cable modem--just the router.
