Every time I switch on one of our laptops it will not connect, once the router is restarted it works fine. We have 4 other devices which happily connect to the wireless connection first time.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just gotten a DIR-615 and replaced a working linksys G router. I configured it to work with my ipad (wireless N), my laptop-win 7 (N), and my desktop-vista (USB connected N). Everything works ok,. I'm using WPA personal, WPA2only, AES encryption, 3600, 802.11n only, auto 20/40 mhz channel width, invisible.
Here's the problem. As I powered up and shut down the laptop each day, it wouldn't connect to the router. I could see the connection, but windows said it couldn't connect. I had to go and unplug the router, count to 10, and then plug it in, and tell the laptop to connect and then it would connect it would be fine.
I thought it might be a compatibility with the laptop driver, but after powering down the desktop today, I had to do the same power cycle on the router to get the desktop to connect. So then I went and turned off the IPAD and had the same thing happen. 3 for 3.
I'm pretty sure its router settings and not the 3 devices, this never happened with the Linksys router, but I don't know what to change.
One other odd thing, when I view the network in windows, the DIR-615 icon is there (for about 15 secs), and then it disappears (for about 5 secs), and then reappears (15 secs), disappears (5 secs), etc. - almost like its dropping out for 5 secs... I haven't noticed a performance hit, but haven't transfer big files yet.
I have two wireless connections at home from 2 different ISPs. How can make my laptop connect to both routers at the same time to make use of them?

The message "this computer does not have a wireless network adapter installed and configured" popped up. So I tried to plug in a an ethernet cable and it still wont let me connect to the internet! In my device manager bar under other devices a network controller is there with a yellow excplanation point. So I was going to go to the dell link provided in another forum and update the drivers, but I cant do that if I cant connect to the internet at all! My laptop is a dell inspiron 1545.
View 2 Replies View Related I have DIR-655, 1.33NA. Recently, I noticed the clock in the router was off, so I wanted to correct it. Each and every time I go through the steps to reset the clock, using time server or clone computer time, or manual reset, after the save settings and reboot of the router, i find the router still displays the wrong time, and frequently reverts itself to a time on Feb 22, 2012. Same problem for trying to reset the DST settings, turning automatic time from server on and off, changing the time server polled. Additionally, I have forced the router to factory settings and rebuilt all of my configuration no less than 4 times.
So, since I recently had to trade out the cable modem because Cablevision fried it with their 'system upgrade', I'm also wondering if the same shenanigans also damaged the router.
my laptop only connects to the internet when the router is off, then switched on. If the router is on when I turn my laptop on it won't connect, but it always connects when I do it the other way around. Other devices (like phones) connect to the internet via the same router flawlessly, it's just the laptop that, for some reason, needs to be on first.

At the same time , my DIR 655 router reboots knocking everybody off line until it comes back. It does this consistently whenever a photo is opened for viewing on the laptop. I have tried about everything I can think of but still cannot figure this one out. Is it Win7? HP? Dlink? all? both? I've tried defaulting my router and it still does it.

I work at the Staples Easy Tech center and the resident tech there told me to do an IP flush or some such thing, but my google fuu is weak and this "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew" refuse to do anything without a connection to the network.I proceeded to hardwire my laptop and even then it says no internet connection and doesn't recognize the network. I already power-cycled the router.Maybe power-cycle the modem?Reset mac addresses?
i was having issues with one of my devices after a power outage. all my other devices worked (laptops, xbox, iphones, etc)i thought doing a reset on the router would get the odd device working again but all it did was mess up my internet. i don't have the key or cd any longer from when i set it up.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo, I've been having problems with connecting my HTPC to the E2000. I had an old D-link router + USB Wireless N adapter, but after the Dlink died, I bought the E2000, and upgraded to a faster N Adapter. Anyway, connection had been sketchy using the WPA/WPA2 encryption. I turned it off completely, and did get some better wireless speeds. I couldn't leave it open, though, as there are tons of laptops around my apartment that end up connecting to my network. Connecting wirelessly using that particular adapter continued to give problems. Two blackberries plus a Nookcolor connect with no issues (maybe because they're wireless G, who knows).
I then decided to reset the router by simply pressing and holding the reset button as I've done on all my other routers. It did reset, and reboot, but when it came back on, it would no longer connect to the internet. I've connected directly to my modem, and that works fine, but once I connect to the router...nothing. I did a hard reset (30/30/30), and that cleared everything, it seemed. The HTPC now connects easily, but there is still no internet connection. This is proving to be very frustrating.
Is there something I could have done wrong by doing that very first reset? Is there anyway to configure to get back my internet connection?
When I look at the local area connection the status is acquiring network address and just sits there. When I try to repair, it states that windows couldn't finishing repairing because it can't renew my IP address.

Since I am getting a sunburn from the WAP I don't understand and am very unimpressed with the wireless capabilities of this notebook. I am wireless N and see 270 - 300 Mbps speed as I would expect at this range. I am not between the WAP and the computer, either, being mostly made of water.

However my husband's laptop we were unable to connect it to the router. When we went into the Connectivity utility on his computer, we found the router and clicked on it. We attempted to put the password that was set by NetGear. However when I went to type in the password, it didn't allow me to type anything. It was as if the keyboard was locked.

I recently got a new router, the belkin with n600 db with F9K1102 v1 firmware.i upgraded from my old belkin router to this due to more wireless items in the house and for some reason i cannot get my HP G72 laptop to connect to it, and this isnt the first time i had issues with this laptop. the first issue was that if im more than say 10ft away from the router device my laptop would not connect, but if i was next to it it would work fine.now i can not seem to connect to this new router at all, i can pick it up, just it wont connect.. wirelessly it wont connect, but wired it'll work just fine.i get an error saying i could not be connected, and its going to troubleshoot then it just says it can not resolve my connectivity issues my wired desktop works.
