i am trying to connect my new Iphone 4 to my wireless connection which is a cisco wap610n. I get a fails to connect error. mine and other laptop can connect using my security key. the Iphone can connect to other wireless connections. my access point connects to a linksys RT31P2 router?

the one for guest has web authentication, using Iphone every 2 to 3 minutes it time out and i have to reenter the credentails for web authentication.
I have a WRT610N V2 that I cannot set up properly. The set up proceeds fine until the very last step when it cannot verify the connection to the internet. Both my desktop and laptop show a strong signal from the router but neither will connect to the internet.Linksys support gave me instrucutions to set up the router manually, but I cannot access the router settings since it will not allow me to acess the internet to reach the settings site.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just bought a WAP160N to replace our WAP54G because my Samsung Glaxay 3 could not use the internet through our WAP54G (not sure if Galaxy 3 doesn't like G mode networks). The problem we have after installing the WAP160N is that the signal doesn't extend as far in the house as the WAP54G. We have the routers up the front end of the house (the WAP160N is wired to our Netcomm router) and when you go to the kitchen (in the middle of the house) the signal from the WAP160N is being lost/fluctuating, then dropping on devices such as iPads. We have WAP160N set to mixed mode on 2.4Ghz, AES or TKIP. I tried setting it to 5Ghz but that didn't work either. We always had signal strength in the kitchen when using the WAP54G. if the WAP160N can not extend its signal further or the same distance as the WAP54G? I find it odd that the iPads can't hold the connection in the kitchen, when we've always been able to use internet/wifi there. I'm thinking of returning the WAP160N if the signal cannot extend far enough. router that can extend the signal far throughout a house?

The devices were link with Cisco access point. for the other one i use dlink access point for the wifi function. To extend my wired ethernet I have purchased a WAP300N access point and connected it according to the instructions. I can see the AP from a wireless client and connect, but no IP number is provided to the client. The AP is connected to a router which has a DHCP server via wired connection (though a switch). The AP does it self get an IP number from the router but does not pass through DHCP requests from the clients.Occasionally an IP number is provided, but then there is no route to the LAN or the WAN on the other side of the AP.I have tried a whole lot of things to make it work (and been in the internet chat for two hours with a Linksys supporter, who could not make it work either).I have tried to set the IP number in the AP to static.I have tried to remove security (has to be WPA2 eventually, but for the sake of testing it has been removed)I have tried to factory resetI have tried to reinstall the firmware (the same version as the factory installed)etc.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had the WAP610N for a few months with no issues. As always, I have a custom SSID and password, using WPA2. All of a sudden, none of my mobile units (at least 5) are unable to connect via the WAP610N. However, I can connect to a Netgear N750 w/o any issues. When I reboot the WAP610N, it resolves the issue for a few minutes, but then behaves the same as before. I know its not my network because, I am able to connect via wired and wireless via the Netgear. I verified via the web interface that none of the settings/configurations have changed - but still nothing. Latest firmware has been applied. Note sure If I should perform a factory reset or re-apply the firmware.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to share my existing wireless connection over a WAP54G with the latest firmware, on Windows 7 on a laptop. Basically, the laptop is getting a wireless connection from my Sprint Card, but I need to share a wi-fi connection with an iPod I'll be using to validate tickets. Unfortunately, there is no option to share the wireless connection when I click on the Properties for the connection. When I put in my WiFi settings, the iPod is able to login to the AP, but it cannot obtain an IP. It keeps doing this. Same thing happens with my Samsung Epic which runs Android. I can access the AP manager, and can configure it. Have tried using no security, but still no dice. Even turned off the firewall.
I can surf the internet on the laptop, but I simply can't share the connection with the AP. This is really important as I'm trying to get it setup by next weekend!
I have a new notebook Sony Z217GG, I connected WAP 4400N was very smooth, but after connected WAP 4410N, the internet connecting always connect and disconnect, I check the notebook wireless model is intel 6230.

How do I connect and configure my WAP54G wireless access point to my new Cable Modem? I have it connected to the modem but I cannot access it to configure it. It appears to be working but before I got the cable modem I had it connected to a router and it was set-up with a static IP address. With my new ISP, I no longer have a static IP address so I am trying to configure the WAP54G to use DHCP. Trying to access it thru the internet at 192.168.1.245 does not work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought an LG Bluray DVD player (BD390) which is unable to find the access point in my home network.My router is a WRT54G, ver. 2.2, running firmware: Ver.4.21.1. My home network uses high speed cable with two computers on the wireless network, all working with no problems.The router is on the second floor but the two computers and the new BD390 are on the first floor - about 35 feet away. I have the wirelss security set to none and use only the specific computer MAC addresses to allow connection to this network.
I found directions in the forum for a setup using the LG BD390 but with a different Linksys router. I changed the security to WPA (AES); the Beacon interval from 100 to 75; the Fragmentation Threshold from 2346 to 2304; and the RTS Threshold from 2347 to 2307. The DVD wireless connection still failed to find my network. There is a "Push button" connection feature on the BD390 setup which I tried, but the only "button" on the router I could find was in the basic wireless setting, a green icon for the wireless SSID setup. No connection was made there either.
The recommendation connection from the LG manual is for a network cable, but that would be over 50 feet and a real pain to connect, so I would prefer WiFi.
When the WAP54G is set up as a repeater for a WRT54G, will a computer connected to the LAN port on the WAP54G be able to connect to the network? I know it will see the WAP54G if I manually set it's ip address.
I guess I want it to act as a wireless NIC for the desktop while also operating as a repeater. Is this possible? If not, will one of the other AP settings like Bridge allow the wired connection to connect to the other side of the network and give wireless access to wireless devices? I've hacked up and attached one of Linksys's diagrams to show what I'm trying to do. It seems to me the easiest thing to do would be to buy a wireless NIC for the desktop.
I work at a small business that has an exisiting wired network. Our setup is: Internet > ISP Box > DHCP Server > Switch > Users. I have been attempting to add a wireless router to the network to enable our shop techs to wirelessly access our file computer. I have managed to get the wireless working, but the network was not visible, I could not access any network computers from the wireless, and I could not access the wireless router from our main server. After this I screwed up the settings completely and even a wired connection to the router couldn't connect to the internet. Now I have purchased a WAP54G, but I forsee the same problems when I go to config everything tomorrow.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a AP WAP54G. I've managed to get into the configuration page and rename my router and set a WPA2-Personl password.
The issue I'm facing is that when me and my roomate try to connect to the router at the same time, it shows the laptop that connects second as one that has 'limited connectivity' and hence cannot use the internet. The 1st laptop however works fine!
The settings for the router have all been left to default.
I'm not sure, but does this problem have anything to do with the fact that the router in configured with a static IP. If so, then there is another issure which is that whenever I try to change it from static to automatic/dynamic IP, the page fails and the router doesn't even get connected to the configuraion page(192.168.1.245) after that. The only way to get that page again is the reset the router.
Also I'm not able to directly get into the config page when I connect my router to my laptop via lan. I need to change the LAN IP to 192.168.1.x where x is >1.
I was trying to remotely command my iTunes library via an iPhone app called Remote. It worked for some times with an intermittent disconnection problem due to the iPhone locking. But even after unlocking the phone and reconnecting the Wi-Fi, Remote couldn't find my iTunes library again and my only workaround was to relaunch iTunes on the PC (which is Ethernet-wired to my router). Few days ago nothing worked!!! I could no more get Remote to find iTunes.
I could not find a solution even by rebooting the router or unplugging the PC's Ethernet cable. Last night I powered off the router and after 10s I powered it on again. And then it worked!I highly suspect a problem between my router and Bonjour which is as UPnP, an Apple protocol for discovering communicating devices. Discovery phase being usually done with broadcast frames, something goes wrong in the router with processing the broadcasts, or is it a Bonjour problem?Please note that even now that Remote can find iTunes, I still have my old intermittent disconnection problem.So is there any incompatibility between WRT-610N and Bonjour and what is the fix ?
What I want to do is the opposite of most configurations. I live on a small island with only one DSL connection. The modem is wired connected to a WAP54G Access point. To extend this access point want to use a WRT54G.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using a WRT120N and have had no problems connecting most wireless devices, but a Nintendo DS and DSi owned by my family are unable to connect to the access point. My wireless security mode is disabled, network mode is set to mixed, SSID is the same as on the DS/DSi, Channel width is 20Mhz only, Standard channel is set to 6, but I tried using channel 1 and 11 without success, SSID broadcast is enabled.
I've tried every work-about I could find and always get the 51300 error code, and am at a loss as to what else I can try to get the devices to connect to the access point.
Is it possible to configure WRT120n as an access point?

On i Pad when I try to connect to Internet I have to turn WiFi off and on. It works for a while but after waking i Pad from sleep I have to switch off and on again. It really drives me crazy. Sometimes (hardly ever) it happens on my iPhone 4 (same network setup as on i Pad). Other devices connect to Internet whenever I need.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have the WRT400N router and using windows 7 (on this computer). It works perfectly with any computer I use in the house (there's 3). As soon as I open a laptop, its connected. My iPhone (we have 2) and an iTouch, are a different story. They connect, stay connected sometimes for 5 minutes, sometimes 5 hours, then will drop the connection out of nowhere. It doesn't matter how close or far I am from the router. Sometimes I'll get a message that I have an incorrect password (which it's not, which is why it DOES work). Sometimes I don't get a message at all (on the phones I'll just notice its on E/3G). Now, looking through the database I noticed there is a program for the valet routers that lets you add the phones, yet this doesn't apply to mine.
The tech in live chat told me it was the phones. I know its not as I had a wireless modem before this, and I never once lost a signal or had it ask me for an incorrect password.
My EA4500 router seems to drop mine and my wife's iPhone wifi connection at what appears to be the edge of my router's range. When we come back in range, our iPhone's intermittently give the error "Unable to join network.". And we're stuck in that mode. When I check the Devices menu in the CCC interface, I notice the iPhone device is configured and still online. However the "x" box to delete the device is greyed out because it's online. So how do I get out of this state and have my iPhone connect
