Linksys Wired Router :: BEFSX41 Web UI Access?

Feb 4, 2012

I've been struggling to resurrect an older V1 BEFSX41, which suddenly decided to suffer continuous collisions and loss of link.  Had been running for several years. I reflashed the firmware with TFTP to 1.52.16.4, and reset for 30 seconds, and re-powered.  I am unable to get any response form the web UI.  I can ping 192.168.1.1, and obviously push the BIN image to it, but the UI doesn't give any sign of life - not even an error - just blank.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Switch 3750 / Policy Inbound Traffic Per IP?

Mar 2, 2012

We are using Cisco 3750 switches in our environment as distribution switches. We currently use to police inbound traffic, but we need to find a solution to limit inbound traffic per IP.Something like this “Inbound traffic for each IP can be maximum 1 Mbps” This can be done having, one ACL and one class-map for each IP, but in my situation is not a practical solution, because we have more than 500 IP’s on that site.

Is any way to accomplish this without writing 500 ACLs and 500 class-map?

Linksys Wired Router :: BEFSX41 Won't Allow To Clear DNS Entries?

Feb 17, 2011

I am trying to configure a BEFSX41 router which sits behind a Motorola SB 5120 cable modem. Somehow it now shows DNS entries on the basic setup page. Comcast advises me to zero out all those entries. When I make the attempt a message pops up saying the entry is invalid, and when I close the warning the entry reverts. The router is set to get its IP address automatically from the SB 5120.

Linksys Wired Router :: Firmware Upgrade For BEFSX41?

Mar 13, 2011

I have been reading posts on this board that state that after upgrading the firmware on a router that you must re-set the router and re-configure your connection. I have just downloaded and installed the latest firmware update for the BEFSX41 (1.52.16.4). When the installation was complete, my network connection dropped out. I then got a "searching for ip address" icon in my notification bar. The connection then completed and my network seems to be running as it should. When I check the set-up screen for the router, it shows the new firmware version. Do I still need to re-set the router? I'm a bit confused by all of this. I have Comcast cable for my isp.

Linksys Wired Router :: BEFSX41 V1 Or V2 For Firmware Upgrade 1.52.16.4

Mar 19, 2011

BEFSX41 Firmware Version to upgrade, version 1 or 2?

I've been using this router since 2006, upgrading the firmware to version 1.52.15 when released in 2007. At that time I think I selected the edition 1 rather than edition 2. Basing decision on the fact that the device had no indication of which model version was correct indicated on the manufacturing labels on the bottom. So I assume edition 1.

Is there any way to tell which hardware release I really have? Maybe by MAC address, or Serial number?

Have not had any problems with the 1.52.15 firmware version, however, I have seen numerous log entries for the following:

2011-03-20 11:45:23 ii=MAX_HTTPSESS2011-03-20 11:45:33 ii=MAX_HTTPSESS2011-03-20 11:45:39 ii=MAX_HTTPSESS

and

2011-03-20 10:53:09 UDP from 202.103.52.147:5060 to nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn : pppp(my ip address & port) followed by 2 to 10 of the following entries:2011-03-20 11:01:33 500 _upnp_Disable

the sending URL indicated as a PRC (Chinese) university with negative traceroute results, nothing really alarming as nothing is getting inside the firewall. Just packets dropped from the senders IP. I am keeping track of the pattern  and activity levels.

Will probably just block the whole addy range at the router firewall and PC firewall. AT&T is totally ineffective in blocking this sort of back alley activity.

I've seen only one brief and somewhat dated reference to the "ii=MAX_HTTPSESS" entry and will tackle that issue after updating the firmware to 1.52.16, I haven't found any authenticated tech references for this. I can only make some educated guesses on tweaking HTTP settings.

Linksys Wired Router :: BEFSX41 Firmware Upgrade Doesn't Finish

Jun 6, 2009

I'm trying to upgrade the firmware of a BEFSX41 wired router from version 1.43.3 (apparently the first revision after the original realease) to 1.52.15 (the latest I found), but I can't get it to finish. I'm using a Mac with all the latest versions of OS, Safari, and Firefox. When I use Safari to initiate the upgrade, it get's to the point where it says "Please wait ! Setup will take a few minute _____" and nothing else happens after that, even after waiting 30 minutes or more. When I use Firefox it gets to the same "Please wait" message, then a few minutes later Firefox displays an error message "Connection Interrupted: The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection.

I have an issue with slow downloading and uploading on u torrent with my wired router linksys BEFSX41. I thought it may be because I didn't set port forwarding on the specific ports the u torrent use.

But every time When I try to set new port forwarding rules on my router's control panel its asks me for a password and user. Although I know this password and user it will keep asking me about them without saving the new port forwarding settings.

Is there any way to determine the connection speed on the Internet port?  It seems that it only running at 10, when both the router and modem support 100.

Linksys Wired Router :: BEFSX41 / Westell 6100G Modem - Setup And Configuration

Jan 10, 2012

I have the Linksys BEFSX41 wired Firewall router.  My ISP is Verizon DSL.  The DSL modem is a Westell 6100G.  I have the wall phone line connected to my modem.  The output of the modem is going to the input of my Linksys router.  I have two computers connected to the router outputs.  In order for me to see the output or configuration of my Westall modem, I have to go http://192.168.1.1.  In order for me to see the configuration of my Linksys router, I have to enter http://10.10.10.1.  When I look at the instructions for setting up and configuring my Linksys router, it never mentions the above 10.10.10.1 address, but instead it tells me to enter the 192.168.1.1 address.  I have never done this because when I powered both units for the first time, and it worked, I noticed then that my Linksys address was the 10.10.10.1.  Why is it then that none of the settings or instructions for the Linksys router never mention to enter the 10.10.10.1 address as oppose to the one the do call out to enter  which is the address for the Westell modem?  What would happen if both addresses on both devices were the same?

Cisco VPN :: ASA 5505 To Use Router For Creating Policy Based Routing

May 29, 2011

I have an ASA 5505 at each of three locations.  We have VPN tunnels set up between the three sites.  I am currently using a single ISP to control the traffic between the sites.  I am adding a new ISP to the mix.  The goal is to have any internet traffic routed to ISP 2 and all internal traffic routed to ISP 1.The ASA does not do policy based routing (mostly because it is a firewall, not a router).  I need to configure a router that will accept the output of the ASA and route it according to the above rule.  All incoming routing will be done through ISP 1. Any suggestion on the device and the methodology to set it up?  I am planning on doing this in each location.

We have a Cisco 2811 running ITP IOS.  On that router we run the SMPP service.  A client on the network connects to this service, and we need to capture the traffic for debug.

I've tried traffic-export, but I cannot see any outbound traffic.I'm guessing that this is due to the fact that the outbound SMPP traffic is not transit traffic as it is generated by the router itself.

Is there any way to capture the outbound traffic?

I would like to switch the network to wired, but can't run an actual wire. Can I add a new wireless AP as a repeater or bridge to tap into the existing wireless network and then connect the TV to the a wired port on the wireless router?

Linksys Wired Router :: RV016 Limitations And Traffic Routing

Aug 8, 2011

My RV016 does not seem to route traffic that does not originate from the subent that it sits on. For example, I have my RV016 on 192.168.1.1 and a gateway to 192.168.2.0/24 is at 192.168.1.2. None of the traffic originating in 192.168.2.0 is routed by the RV016. I have checked the routing tables and ACLs with no luck. I know the traffic is hitting the RV016 because I setup a packet sniffer. The packets just simply die there. Is this a limitation of the RV016 only being assigned to a single class C? Does it also ignore all internal traffic not from that class C even if the ACLs are open?

Linksys Wired Router :: How To Redirect Internet Traffic From RV082 To RV042

Feb 24, 2013

In our USA office we have a RV042 router and in Venezuela we have a RV082 router. We have connected a VPN tunnel (gateway-to-gateway) between both offices.

The point is: How could we redirect the internet traffic from our Venezuela office (RV082) to the USA Office (RV042) to navigate using USA public IP's?

The reason for this is that we need to use online streaming services which are only available for IP's from USA and we can't use them from the Venezuelan IP's.

We can not use the PPTP option since the equipment which will use the streaming services (like hulu, crackle, etc.) in Venezuela is a Google TV device which doesn't allow the configuration of proxy navegation or PPTP VPN connections itself. That's the reason why we need to do that through the routers.

Cisco WAN :: Avaya G350 / QoS For Inbound Traffic

Sep 17, 2012

I have a remote office with a 1.54mb circuit connected to our private MPLS network.  Our main office has a 20mb conneciton to said network.  I want to set a QoS policy for traffic from the remote office to our Avaya subnet within the main office.  This policy is to give priority to all traffic to the Avaya G350.

I have set up the outbound traffic policy on our remote office router using a policy map as follows:

access-list 101 permit ip any 192.168.0.0 0.0.255.255 (this represents the Avaya subnet)
 class-map match-all voice_outbound
match access-group 101
policy-map voip_outbound
class voice_outbound
   priority percent 50
 interface Serial0/3/0
service-policy output voip_outbound

This works fine for outbound traffic.  Now how do I give priority to inbound traffic from the 192.168.0.0 network?  When I try to do similar command it says CBWFQ is only configurable as output, not input.

I'd just limit it at the far end, but that has a 20mb pipe.  All other traffic from our corporate datacenter, as well as internet traffic, flows from the main office to the remote office.  Should I just rate limit everything else destined for the remote office subnet, and if so, what's the best method?

Although the 1st static route for 10.10.0.0 is showing in routing table, the other 2 ( 172.17.0.0 & 172.24.0.0 ) donot show. Cisco VPN :: Block Unsolicited Inbound Traffic Through L2L On ASA5505

Apr 6, 2013

I have a working L2L between two locations. Location A and Location B.

Location A: 172.16.16.0/24
Location B: 192.168.0.0/24

I would like to block anything inbound to Location A from Location B that isn't initiated from Location A. The block should be done on the ASA5505 at Location A. Location B uses an ISR G2 router. i.e. Location A can start an SSH session to a server in Location B Location B cannot start an SSH session to a server in Location. .

I tried using a VPN filter on the ASA5505 but it isn't stateful, I cannot pass any traffic when using it.

Config on my ASA:

access-list vpn-traffic extended permit ip 172.16.16.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.0 255.255.255.0
access-list block-vpn-to-local extended deny ip 192.168.0.0 255.255.255.0 172.16.16.0

mail filtering service -> my public ip:25 -> internal mailserver at 10.0.10.2:25, deny everything inbound except traffic from the mail filtering service, I am thinking an ACL would fit the bill here, but unsure of how to implement. Router is an 1811 with version 15.1(4)M3 IOS. WAN is on fa0, lan is on fa1.
