Linksys Wired Router :: RV016 Limitations And Traffic Routing

Aug 8, 2011

My RV016 does not seem to route traffic that does not originate from the subent that it sits on. For example, I have my RV016 on 192.168.1.1 and a gateway to 192.168.2.0/24 is at 192.168.1.2. None of the traffic originating in 192.168.2.0 is routed by the RV016. I have checked the routing tables and ACLs with no luck. I know the traffic is hitting the RV016 because I setup a packet sniffer. The packets just simply die there. Is this a limitation of the RV016 only being assigned to a single class C? Does it also ignore all internal traffic not from that class C even if the ACLs are open?

Linksys Wired Router :: Expand IP Addresses Beyond 256 / RV016

Jan 16, 2011

Currently We have an RV016 setup and Setup>Network we have the following settings:

Host Name: pagegateway
Domain Name: mycompany.com
Device IP address: 10.20.181.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

DHCP Server is not enabled on the RV016.  We currently have a Windows 2003 Server that is acting as Exchange Server, Active Diretory, and DHCP Server.  My issue is that we are running out of IP addresses and I have about 20 or so left to assign. Given the above setting can I make changes to my RV016 to give me more than 256 addresses? If yes what do I need to do and do I need to make any changes on Windows Server?

Linksys Wired Router :: RV016 Dual Wan Configuration

Oct 16, 2012

I have recently implimented an RV016 device into our network. We have a bonded T1 service with Paetec/Windstream (5 static IPs) and also a cable connection with Comcast (no static IP). The T1 has been our primary connection, and our MX and A records all use this IP address. I have the rules set and using a one-to-one NAT setup with our 5 IPs. Everything is working great with the T1 in place and email is flowing with no problems, however when I connect the cable into the WAN2 port and try to send email, its using that outbound connection, rather then the T1 and our spam filter is blocking it. So the email is rejected and we get this message below.

Linksys Wired Router :: How To Configure RV016 For Two WANs

how to configure Linksys RV016 for two WANs (cable+DSL)? It looks like switching between those two connections not splitting what is set for WAN1 and what is set for WAN2.I set load balancing as- WAN1 (cable) all HTTP up/donw should go there- WAN2 (DSL) GTalk, IMs, SMTP, POP3, IMAP up/down should go therebut looks like is not working that way. When I will go to speedtest.net and test a connection I always get less amount then connected directly through cable : Also when people try to use any session or IP sensitive web site it doesn't let them to log in because session was expired (based on IP) or IP was changed.

Linksys Wired Router :: RV016 Load Balance Configuration?

Dec 10, 2008

We have :DSLT-1  I want to route all VOIP traffic and traffic to one IP address over the T-1, all other traffic I want to route over the DSL.  HOWEVER, in the event that the DSL fails, have the DSL traffic failover to the T-1.I have setup the router to do just that (I think) and when I go to a site like "whatismyipaddress.com", it shows my IP as comming from the T-1.  With the setup I described that traffic should always route over the DSL.Straight up protocol binding won't work because the traffic I want to route over the T-1 to one specific IP is going to be prot 80 and 443 (web traffic)

Linksys Wired Router :: VPN Tunnel Disconnect Between RV016 And RV082

Jun 2, 2011

Currently I have a VPN tunnel setup between our company locations. Location A has Linksys RV016 and Location B has RV082.  Everything has been working with no problems for the past 2 years with only minor disconnect issues in the VPN tunnel between the locations.

For the past 2 weeks I have been running into issues with the Tunnel. Users in Location B are reporting problems with losing connection to applications that are hosted in Location A. At first I start with doing a ping to router address in Location B and I get "request timed out". Next I login to router in Location A and under VPN I notice that the VPN tunnel is not disconnect (I see disconnect button). Once I click on Disconnect the screen refreshes and that seemed to restablish connecting with router in Location B. The drop connection has been been going on for the past 2 weeks and only happens once a day specifically between 1 PM and 3 PM EST. I have been reading all over the internet and no luck at all. The VPN tunnel settings are the same on both routers and under Advanced options both Keep Alive and Dead Peer Detection (DPD)  are checked.

Linksys Wired Router :: Can't Ping RV016 On WAN1 Port (external IP)

Feb 1, 2011

I am trying to setup an RV016 router to do "1 to 1 NAT". I am starting with setting the external IP address of my RV016 to 10.8.58.219 on the WAN1 port, and LAN IP 10.10.20.254. Simple enough. When I connect my laptop to port1 on the router's LAN side I can ping the router's external AND internal IP addresses fine; But I can not ping from outside when connected through WAN1 port.I am performing a simple local test with an external hub, I put a patch cable from WAN1 port to the hub, another patch cable from port 1 on LAN side to the same hub, and from my laptop to the hub. When I use my laptop's IP address with the internal schema (10.10.20.100 for example) I can ping both WAN1 and LAN IP's; but when I use on my laptop the external IP schema (10.8.58.100 for example) I can not ping it. Therefore is not working when I connect my router to the real network.I went into the web setup pages of the router and dissabled: firewall and basicaly all security "blocks" it has, and leave it open for my testing.

Cisco Routers :: RV016 - Traffic Routing

Aug 15, 2011

I have a RV016 with an internal address of 192.168.1.1.  Also on the 192.168.1.0 network is a gateway server that the rest of my clients sit behind.  The clients are on a 172.16.3.0/24 network.  All of the gateway server does is forward the packets.  It does not NAT.  There is a static route to 172.16.3.0 on the RV016.

So my question is how do I get traffic from 172.16.3.0 to route through the RV016?  Computers on the sub net can ping the RV016 and get a reply so I know the gateway server is forwarding the packets between the two sub nets just fine and that the static route on the RV016 works.  Any traffic that tries to go beyond the RV016 never makes it.  It just disappears at the RV016.  I have checked all of the ACLs and they should let all internal traffic through.

Linksys Wired Router :: How To Redirect Internet Traffic From RV082 To RV042

Feb 24, 2013

In our USA office we have a RV042 router and in Venezuela we have a RV082 router. We have connected a VPN tunnel (gateway-to-gateway) between both offices.

The point is: How could we redirect the internet traffic from our Venezuela office (RV082) to the USA Office (RV042) to navigate using USA public IP's?

The reason for this is that we need to use online streaming services which are only available for IP's from USA and we can't use them from the Venezuelan IP's.

We can not use the PPTP option since the equipment which will use the streaming services (like hulu, crackle, etc.) in Venezuela is a Google TV device which doesn't allow the configuration of proxy navegation or PPTP VPN connections itself. That's the reason why we need to do that through the routers.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3200 And Parental Control Limitations?

Jan 2, 2012

Just installed the E3200 and use to have a WRT54G. Wanted the N Band.Noticed two major deficiencies.

1) this device does not have Internet Access Policy option and the Parental Control interface is unbelievably poor? There are very few options to work with in terms of time of day to turn on and off blocking access. (Half hour increments only, not 5 minutes increments that I was use to). The "FROM" Field has AM only and the "TO" filed has PM only. This means if you wish a device to have access pass Midnight, you can't, or if you wish to block beginning in the AM, you can't. Furthermore there are no day selections, just School Night and Weekend Night. What if you just want to block school Night. You can't "turn off" weekend. Is there a way to gett full Internet Access firmware into this device.

2) When using Parental Control the devices to restrict access are only displayed by default names. I have 8 devices on the LAN and half of them say Network Device. Any way to identify them by a device name or MAC ID?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Limitations In Bridge Mode

Jan 3, 2012

I have a Fiber to Ethernet connector from my ISP. The Ethernet cable goes to an iSP issued Zyxel router. Into this router the landline phoneservice connects to give us VoIP landline service (which is cheaper). An Ethernet cable goes from the Internet port on the E4200 to a LAN port on the Zyxel router. That works great but I had to put the E4200 into Bridge Mode to get it to connect to the Internet via the Zyxel router which I need to use the phone services my ISP provides. I bought the E4200 because I wanted to use the dualband functionally and get a 802.11N 5GHz network setup and to give me the ability to block certian websites and services which I knew Cisco/Linksys is famous for - the abillity to control your network.

Well then imagine my surprise when I could not use the Parental Control settings when the router is in Bridge Mode... This was the reason I bought this router over an Apple Airport Exreme. Is there anyway to get it to let me use the Parental Control anyway while in Bridge Mode or a better way for me to connect the router with the rest of my network?

Linksys Cable / Dsl :: X3000 Does Not Route Traffic Between Its Wired And Wifi

Jan 31, 2013

The X3000 functions as a router/gateway between the ADSL network, its wireless network (WPA2) and its wired network. After a cold start, factory reset and restore of the config file everything works fine. I have interconnection between all three parts of my network. However after ± 24 hour there is no connection possible anymore from the wired to the wireless network and vice versa. A normal power off - power on will not work. The only thing that works is running the factory reset procedure as discribed above. I changed the MTU to manual 1400 as was suggested on this forum, but that does not work. Apart from this issue, ADSL is hicks sometimes. From my ISP I heard that at certain times my router issues ten's of DHCP requests within one minute, while the connection (modem) remains perfect. I have the impression that after such a DHCP request storm to my ISP, the interconnection between my X3000 wireless network and my X3000 wired network is lost.

D-Link DIR-615 :: Wired LAN - Switch Of Router Just Stops Moving Traffic

Mar 29, 2013

Every so ofter, the switch of the router just stops moving traffic between the LAN and to/from internet, though the WiFi keeps working and can still use internet.

I can still use the router's switch, and ping other computers on the local LAN, what happens is that the router stop routing wired traffic from/to internet, the rest of the issue is still the same, I opened reddit on my smartphone and there it was working via WiFi, but the would have none of it for the computers on wired LAN, not even accessing the router's page or telnet.

It is like some service or bridge between the switch LAN and the router itself dies... I'm still clueless.

The only "pattern" that I see is that my desktop is on line, because I can be not at home for 12+ HS and I can connect remotely to the server (rd p and trans droid) so I know it has internet access, but sometimes I think this happens when I turn on my desktop, like just now, this morning, but again, I feel is not every morning, trying to be more scientific about it I come here after every time it happens to record it, and also set the record straight about the issue description.

So, assuming it is not a hardware issue, because I did not had this problem in all 2011 and 2012, I do not overclock the router neither use other than default TX power level.

- How do I begin diagnosing this issue?
- If it is a known issue with this builds? I could no find it.

My goal is to be able to provide info for debugging the problem and possible finding a fix/workaround it. If it is indeed hardware failing, how do I even begin to diagnose it from that POV? The message is empty...

Even with the new build r21061 still happened two more times. Now the real problem to me, is that I cant even revert it to stock firmware, I tried even with:

- unplug router
- press and hold reset
- plug router
- keep pressing until power led blinks orange
- enter 192.168.0.1 (PC must have static IPA, i use 192.168.0.200)

Can't open 192.168.0.1 in FF nor chrome and does not even ping. [URL]. I just want to get it back to stock or do not hang up the switch-to-router(ing).

Linksys Wired Router :: EA4500 - Wired Connections Have Long Ping Times

It was so slow on my work computer, a pint to yahoo timed out.  The computers connecting to router are

I cannot connect any laptops WIRED to the router. Nothing has changed on the systems to restrict internet access. There is something wrong with the router and the WIRED ports. I tried going through the troubleshooting on this site but it was of little to no assistance. The Cisco Connect utility doesn't appear to accomplish anything either. My guess is because I cannot connect to the WIRED ports on the router to connect to the internet to allow for whatever troubleshooting that needs to be done.

Linksys Wired Router :: BEFSR81 Keeps Losing Wired Connection To WAP54G?

Apr 11, 2012

I have a WAP54G in my basement shop, wired to our main router upstairs, which is a Linksys BEFSR81.  I'm not sure if this is an issue with the WAP or the router.

I only use the laptop computer in the shop every couple of days, but I leave the laptop plugged in and on most of the time.  I used to have the power settings such that it didn't power down completely even after a long time.  With that setup, if i didn't use the computer for several days, it would find that the connection to the router had died.  The wireless link would report that it had a solid connection, but I couldn't connect to anything.  Power cycling the WAP always fixed this.

Recently, I decided to save some wear & tear on the laptop drive, and adjusted the power settings to go to standby after a couple of hours.   Now, it seems I can't even go one day without losing my connection.

I am running the latest frimware in the WAP, and the router is version 3.1.  I can't check the firmware version on the router at the moment, because the web interface is giving me a blank screen.  I know from past experience that I will have to power cycle it to get it to talk to me again.

In any event, it seems like the router connection to the WAP is timing out.  I set the router "client lease time" up to 10000 a while back when I first had this problem, but that is clearly not doing the trick.
