Linksys Wired Router :: E2500 - Cannot Remotely Access Zoneminder On Port 80
Jan 4, 2012
I have a Cisco Linksys E2500 modem and I cannot access Zoneminder which is essentially a Linux Security video DVR software package. It is running on a Ubuntu Linux server.
I have HTTP port 80 forwarded to the the static IP address of the Ubuntu server but I repeatedly get a error indicating that the connection timed out whenever I try to access Zoneminder remotely as in remotely accessing it from a coffee shop.
I have absolutely no problem accessing Zoneminder when I on my home local LAN.
I can access other software from remote locations on port 4369 with a TCP preferred protocol setting. That is, port 4369 is forwarded to another Windows workstation with an assigned static IP address. Absolutely no problems with port forwarding of 4369.
Also, I've tested port 80 on the YouGetSignal website which is used for testing port forwarding. The website indicates that port 80 is closed. But when I test port 4369, the website reports that the port is open. Zoneminder which uses port 80 is fully operational when I test port 80 via YouGetsignal.
My ISP has told me that they do not block any ports including port 80.

I purchased some cameras for my building. I have them set up ok on port 85 but I can't view them remotely until I set up the router to forward the port. I have a charter modem and the E2500 router.

I bought a new e2500 and it is working fine, all but port forwarding. This is not even close to my first router and I am advanced when it comes to setting these up. I have tried for days to get port 80 to open up and it refuses. Now I do notice that when you access the router setup through a web interface, it uses port 80. I have forwarded port 80 to the ip address of the device, put in a reservation in DHCP with MAC address, etc. etc. and still nothing. Heck, I have even turned that specific device IP into a DMZ, and it STILL will not work. For the record, I had an e2000 set up the exact same way and it worked just fine and I was able to access port 80.

We have a RV042. remote management is set to DISABLE - but even after restarting the router i can access the interface remotely over the internet.even when i enable it and change the port to say 5555 i can connect to the web interface using either port 5555 but ALSO on port 80.what's wrong here?the only way to stop that was to create a rule that blocks port 80 on the WAN interface. (btw. could this rule affect LAN users when browsing the web?)

This is my first experience using a Cisco Linksys router. Up to now I've always used DLink. But when my newest Dlink router failed for the 3rd time I decided it was time to find a better make. The Linksys E2500 came highly recommended. The trouble I am having is that I've been using an old DLink DI-604 wired router as a hub to get 3 extra wired ports. But with the linksys router I can't get this to work.. Can this be done with this router and if so, how do I have to setup the routers?

My client has a DSL modem and a Belkin wired 4-port router configured to connect to it using PPPoE. Apparently there is no way to configure the E2500 such that it may be dropped in as a direct replacement for the Belkin (which would also provide wireless access) without the PPPoE login/password (from the DSL provider, Verizon).
I would like to connect the "Internet" port of the E2500 to one of the Belkin's 4 ports, in order to use the E2500 for wireless internet access without using any of the 4 wired ports but I think this creates a NAT within an existing NAT network?
To avoid that if I configure the E2500 in wired bridge mode, it becomes transparent, and I can no longer access its administration interface using the address 192.168.1.1 (since that address belongs to the Belkin). How may I, for example, change the wireless password which the E2500 is in wired bridge mode?

I recently put in a surveillance system with remote access. I have an application on my android phone and it can be viewed by any browser. While I am connected to my network these functions work fine, on my phone and any desktop/laptop. The problem happens when I try to view remotely, off my network. I had this setup on my Netgear router before I got my new fancy schmancy Cicso router becaue the netgear wasn't cutting the cheese in keeping my wireless connectionstory. So here is what I got. I need 3 ports forwarded for this work, and how I got it work on my Netgear. I have these 3 ports forwarded as single ports. I have them forwarded in a range and I have port triggering turned on. No matter what or which combination of these few things I try, I can't access the DVR remotely, again unless I'm local to MY network. Some additional notes - the DVR has a static address and that address has been reserved in the DHCP settings of the router.

I recently bought a e4200 v2 and installed connect cloud. I have attached a USB drive to the router. I can connect to it by mapping a network drive on my windows 7 laptop. I can also access it as a media server through my iPad on the local wifi network. This way I can play the music on the USB drive through the iPad. The next thing I would like to accomplish is to be able to listen to the music on the USB drive through the internet (so remotely).

I just switched to the EA4500 Router and I'm now unable to remotely access my camera devices. I have done the port forward. I can access the cameras from my local LAN both when using the local 10. ..and external 99 .. Addresses. When I go off the local connection - Access does not work. Slingbox did its auto configuration and I can access it. I just cant get to camera devices (Panosonic, Foscam, etc.).

I've read over the FAQ and followed the normal instructions for port forwarding, but can't seem to get it to work with this particular router, E2500. I have tried both the single port forwarding and the multi port range forwarding, and neither works. I've tried an older WRT54G router and port forwarding works fine on it, so I know it's not my ISP.I'm running the latest firmware provided by Linksys/Cisco.

I use the Smart Wi-Fi app on my iPad3 (IOS 6.1.3) to access my EA4500 remotely. When I want to add a port forwarding, it shows always 192.168 as start of the ip address related to the ports. But I have a 10.71 network installed and cannot change the 192.168 to 10.71. I suppose this is a bug.

IPort forwarding simply does not work with this rounter on Comcast. I called comcast to see if they were blocking ports and they insist they ARE NOT.So what can it be? Was on FIOS with their modem/router combo and port forwarding worked like a charm with them.I've tried single port forwarding, port range forwarding, yada.
I am using the correct internal IP address on the machine I want to enable port forwarding on..Latest firmware is installed 1.04 or whatever (just purchased the router and updated during the Cisco Connect install on the 29th). Guess I should go find a cheaper router that actually works...

I am trying to forward a port to see a camera over the internet. On the single port forwarding screen under Gaming, I have put in port 8090 (Ext and Int),Protocal both, an IP address and Enabled. I have also tried putting in a range, but neither seems to work. After forwarding the port, I check with What's My IP Addrewss to get the external IP, then put the IP in a blank browser page with and without the port number. I have tried this several times without any result.

I have just upgraded my Linksys router from an older one to the E-2500 about a week ago. Everything is working great on my wired desktop and 3 wireless laptops except the printer will no longer work from any of the computers. I've checked the printer wireless settings and they are correct (ssid and password) and it says it's connected to the wlan. Each of the computers shows the printer is active and set to default BUT the port light on the back of the new router is not on. I have changed cables and still no light, the printer is set up for sharing and it did work a couple days ago but port light was on then.
I have not added anything that wasn't hooked up on my old router, I"m just trying to get what I had on the old router to work on the new one. Everytime I call support, they have me change something that messes up what a previous agent had me do. Now they want me to pay for a direct connection so they can upgrade my router firmware...they didn't even ask what version I already had which happen to be the same version that is available on [URL] so if I had agreed, I would have paid for nothing. I had already paid $29.99 for additional 14 day support on my old router only to find out I needed a new one.
I've been using Linksys routers for quite awhile but I'm just about ready to change brands. I would really like to give this E-2500 a chance.

My home web hosting used to work. But because of changing ISP from Verizon to TWC, TWC gave me a modem-router and I bought my own Linksys E2500 router. Both Verizon and TWC services I subscribed are Dynamic IP. I use a third party to redirect the web traffic to my home.TWC gave me a simple modem-router in a box. Input is coax and outputs are 4 ethernet ports. I use one of the 4 ethernet outputs of the TWC box to connect to the internet ethernet input port of the E2500. All my wire and wireless devices are now feeding off the E2500. All wireless and wired devices work and can browse internet through the E2500.I have assigned one computer as the web server and set the internal IP addess of this computer as 192.168.1.128. This is the same for the setup with Verizon before.I loaded the CD came with the E2500 router and can see the LAN 192.168.1.128.My problem starts from here, I do not know how to set the port in E2500 to make the web traffic to 192.168.1.1281. Using the E2500 CD, I click to "APPLICATION AND GAMING", then "SINGLE PORT FORWARDING". under the APPLICATION NAME, I select one of the box to HTTP and type in 128 under "TO IP ADDRESS". I then click ENABLED, then "save settings" . The 192.168.1 is fixed in this window, I can only type 128.This does not work. I can browse internet but cannot access my website from any machines using domain name. Then I tried:2. with item 1 above, I continued to do SETUP>>BASIC SETUP>>DHCP RESEVERSATION. I can see the compute/sever name and the 192.168.1.128. I then click the "select" and save the client.I restarted the computer/server, I unplug and plug the E2500 power. I check the server internal IP address and it is still the same. But I just cannot browse to my website. I can browse other places.

When the WAP54G is set up as a repeater for a WRT54G, will a computer connected to the LAN port on the WAP54G be able to connect to the network? I know it will see the WAP54G if I manually set it's ip address.
I guess I want it to act as a wireless NIC for the desktop while also operating as a repeater. Is this possible? If not, will one of the other AP settings like Bridge allow the wired connection to connect to the other side of the network and give wireless access to wireless devices? I've hacked up and attached one of Linksys's diagrams to show what I'm trying to do. It seems to me the easiest thing to do would be to buy a wireless NIC for the desktop.

I have bought and installed an E2500 router 4 days ago. Installation of router and network using Cisco Connect was easy and without problems. However, after 4 days of usage, not changing anything in the network nor running Cisco Connect or accessing the web interface, I tried to start Cisco Connect and got the message "Cannot access your router".Internet is running, router is accessible via 192.168.1.1 in a browser window, Cisco Connect also works fine on my laptop. The only solution I found on this forum is: reset your router and reinstall Cisco Connect.and then every 4 days resetting my router and reinstalling the software?

Just installed Linksys E2500 router connected to my Desktop and Cable Modem and access the internet fine. My kindle accesses it and the internet fine. My laptop running Vista connects nicely but only has local access. I find the network and connection area where it sees a network with local only access. I have no clue how to go about changing that. I have the correct password because my Kindle asked me. My laptop does not ask for the password.

I have an E2500 running as a router/DHCP server. For reasons beyond the scope of this question, I am replacing the router and DHCP functions with a SonicWALL device. I would like to continue to use the E2500 as a wireless access point only, providing WiFi connection to the SonicWALL. How do I set up the E2500 for this purpose. I assume I switch off the DHCP server and NAT within the device. Is there a dedicated "access point" mode?

I bought the router E2500 and I followed the steps for its configuration. It so happens that most of the time I turn on my router, it does not connect to microcomputer, because it loses the internet settings, requiring that I turn the CISCONNECT and after that, I have to turn off the microcomputer, wait for 2/3 minutes and then reconnect, for only then will be able to surf the internet. I notice that many times even I doing all this procedure the router does not give access to the internet. What should I do?

I have an old WRT54G and the access restrictions really don't work. it's sloppy and ineffective.
i'm thinking about upgrading... perhaps to the E2500. Do the access restrictions now work properly? Am I able to allow access to a specific site only during certain times?
For instance, am I able to provide access to [URL] only during 6:00pm-9:00pm and block it otherwise?

I have an existing home network with a D-link wireless router, IP 192.168.0.1. In the past, I set up another of the same model Dlink router as a WAP to extend my network by simply disabling DHCP and setting its IP to 192.168.0.100. Used the same SSID and passwords, worked flawlessly. Now, my WAP-router has failed and I purchased a LINKSYS E2500 to replace it in that function. I'm trying to configure it the same way but am having problems. The Linksys' IP is 192.168.1.1 by default. I hooked its LAN port to my laptop and accessed the setup page at 192.168.1.1. I changed the router IP to 192.168.0.200 and disabled DHCP. I saved settings, the router reset, and since, I am unable to re-connect to that router setup screen at either 192.168.0.200 OR the default 192.168.1.1. I reset the router to default and tried this multiple times but could never get back to the setup page (didn't even configure any wireless settings yet) after I made the IP change and disabled DHCP. With my previous router, this worked easily and flawlessly.
1. What am I doing wrong (ok, other than using Dlink components)?
2. Should these two different brand components work ok together llike this or is that a problem?
3. Why should unticking DHCP and/or changing the IP address as described make the device unreachable?

I still do not have any Cisco Connect software on my PC to set passwords or preferences. If I try to run the disc again, it gives me a system critical error and shuts down my computer. How can I get software to access my router settings?
