When I try to access the browser based utility through the address bar, I don't have the username or password.....tried admin for both and for just the pw. When I try to access advanced settings through Cisco Connects router settings / advanced settings, it comes up as if many objects were unable to load. Linksys E2500.
View 7 RepliesI'm trying to access the browser based utility (@ http://192.168.1.1) on my router and having no luck. I've tried from two different computers (each Win 7) and each browser. I've tried wired directly to the blue/LAN ports and through Wifi. I've confimred that the IP is correct (or is at least the default gateway for each machine). The Cisco Connect tool can't find the router either.the only thing that can find the router is the CiscoConnect Express app on my iPhone.Internet is working fineish (some problems with Wifi), I just want to play with some settings.

USing https://10.x.x.x, shows certificate warning page, then when I continue "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".DId NOT change the host hame.Last time I used the Browser Utility (weeks ago) was to disable the wireless to check something. Reenabled the wireless, no apparent problems until today when I tried to access via the Browser Utility.As I never ran Connect, there are no settings to change, and now it cannot detect the device.I guess I'll wait until I HAVE to change something, and do a 30-30-30 reset.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am running my home network and WAP(WPA2) behind a d-link gaming router (DHCP) with no inbound or outbound restrictions; however, I am unable to access the internet using my ipad unless I put the WAP in the DMZ. Also, if I configure security using the setup program, I can not log on to the web based utility. I have to disable security with the set up program and then log into the utility. BTW..the UID must be left blank to log into the utility( PW only) to configure the WAP, even though the manual says otherwise.
Now after all this, the WAP will be up and running for days even a few weeks. Then for no reason it will no longer be accessible and I will power it down and back up and it works fine. But this will work only a few times and I have to hit the reset button and reconfigure it all over again.
The firmware has been updated and nothing else has issues on the network. This has been happening since i bought it 3yrs ago, using an iPad, iPhone, Laptops, and PCs( XP and Windows 7) but in the past year it has been more frequent.

Just got my new TP-Link device and intend to use it in client mode for my new audio receiver to connect to my home network.Trying to configure the device, and I cannot even access the online utility. I tried using the following address:
192.168.0.254
192.168.1.1
None of these seem to work. Tried on Chrome, then Internet Explorer and made sure that the web browser was not set to proxy (it was not set to this in the first place). The address just doesn't seem to connect, and I get a "This page cannot be displayed" note, as if I'm reaching a bad address.
I have set the RV042 up for QuickVPN access. The router config recommends turning HTTPS on in the firewall when using QuickVPN. The side effect to this is any web browser throws me certificate errors and warns me not to continue logging in to the router's config. How do I fix this so the browser does not throw these messages?
Router is Linksys-branded, using latest firmware for this hardware (1.3.13.02-tm)
I have tried multiple times to hard reset my Wireless G WRT54G ver.2 router, but have had no success. I held the reset for 15 sec, 30 sec, 2 min, etc and also tried holding it and then unplugging it and then plugging it back in. I've tried everything that I have seen suggested. My problem is that I don't know what the password is to access my router's web utility thing and I need to change the IP address. With every reset attempt, I hope that the default admin password will work, but sadly no.

View 1 Replies View RelatedBefore the latest update and with the latest update, after about one week, I cannot access the router wirelessly using 192.168.1.1. Using IE 10, Chrome, and FireFox all give me no response. I type in the address and the web page never changes. It keeps me at the home page of my browser. I do not get any errors or messages.
Also I tried to use the DHCP Reservation page, and the names of the devices will not allow spaces or any special characters. Sure would be nice to allow such.
I just noticed that my router reverted back to 1.1.28.146856. I have updated twice via the web browser to version 1.1.28.147876 and once via direct connection and the downloaded file, but the router keeps reverting back to the older firmware.
I have installed my E3200 downstream from the Verizon FiOS Actiontec (going the other way disables FiOS functions). 1. My browser can get to the E3200 (192.168.1.2) when connected via wireless, but not when connected via ethernet cable. 2. When going to connect wirelessly, the 2GHz connection is visible but the 5 GHz connection is not (I have them named differently). How do I see both wireless connections?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have EA4500 acting as a router on domainless all-Windows network of two XP machines.Unfortunately, EA4500 aggressively grabs the role of the Master Browser (I am talking about Computer Browser Service) on the network (regardless in which order you power the devices up) and then doesn't serve as a working Master Browser - both Windows machines stop listing the network computers in the "Network Neighborhood" and incur massive timeouts when attempting to view the listing.A quick look with 'browstat.exe status' reveals that indeed the router has announced itself as a Master Browser device, but returns errors when you query it.Quite predictably, without the router, both machinces figure out amongst each other who will be the Master Browser and everything works fine. The problems begin only when you add the router to the network.
1) Is there any way to make EA4500 work like a full-blown Master Browser (the one that not only announces itself, but also serves as such)? having a Master Browser integrated in "always-on" router would really improve the predictability of the network.
2) If not, is there any way to disable the Master Browser on EA4500? For now I managed to achieve that by assigning the router to different workgroup name, but this is lame, as I now can't connect a disk storage to the router and use it within the same workgroup.
I have a wrt54G v8 wireless router and I was trying to install a firmware update a while ago and got impatient, stopped the upgrade in the middle of it and I think I may have bricked my router. I've since tried the 30/30/30 reset a number of times and have noticed that I don't get a blinking power light which I guess means it's ok.
Now when I go to 192.168.1.1 and log in, I can see most menus but when I click the firmware update menu (there's another screen that's also all white, I forget which one), it's all white (or blank). I've searched for a solution on the web and no luck so far.
I've been trying to do this on a mac and no luck. I then booted into windows 7 and used IE 9 to log into 192.168.1.1 and still the same thing, the firmware update screen is blank.
I'm able to use the web interface to the router, from one computer (Windows XP, IE 8). But from my other computer (also Windows XP, IE 8) I can log in to the router, but then the browser just presents an empty screen. I haven't been able to discover any setting in the browser that could cause this. From this same computer, I can access the web interface with no problem, using Google Chrome browser! So the problem seems to be in IE.

When router is connected to laptop via RJ45 I loose my ability to connect to sites via browser. IPconfig shows wireless adapter at 192.168.1.3. When router is attached it's ip is 192.168.1.1. Disabled the wireless in the settings but no dice. When the router was used with DSL it was set at PPPoE but now that I'm just using it locally not sure whether it should be DHCP or Static or other.

When I connect to the wireless guest network it comes up under the 192.168.33.xx IP address. I can connect fine but it never pops up the browser so that you can type in the guest password. I'm running Windows 7 but I've also noticed the exact same problem under XP.The only thing I can guess is the problem is that I have this acting like an access point and all DHCP requests go to my router. I've basically turned off DHCP on this and plugged the network connection into the switch on the back.

I have about 20 devices which i'm allowing to access my router, so i keyed in the MAC addresses into the config page and save setting. But only 16 addresses are registered, the rest refused to register no matter how many times i key in, it just reset back to 00:00:00:00:00:00 after i click on save setting.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI previously entered in settings for the "Static DNS" 1 through 3 (using ip addresses from OpenDNS and one from Google DNS).
I want to remove these so the router reverts to using the DNS allocated to it by the ADSL modem (which will likely be the IP of the modem, which then forwards the requests to the DNS from the ISP).But I can't clear the Static DNS settings. I have to put in 0.0.0.0 but the last zero is not accessed. I get the error: The value is out of range [1 - 254].So I end up with 0.0.0.1 and then all Internet access is lost on the computers because they are being given a bad DNS IP.
How can I reset the static DNS ip address back to 0.0.0.0 ?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to add my E2500 as a second wireless router to cover my entire house.I have a Motorola Surfboard SBG6580 cable modem (Time-Warner) at one end of the house.I added via powerline Ethernet connection a new E2500 wireless router at the other end of the house.The E2500 set-up with all defaults and has the same SSID and Password as the Surfboard cable modem.It seems to work OK, but I wonder about network confusion/interference.Do I have to configure the E2500 in some manner to allow seamless roaming of my wireless devices (iPad, Cell Phones, Netbook)?I had an RE1000 with just the Surfboard, but it did not quite do the trick, and does not like both routers connected at either end.
