i try :
- simple reset
-(30/30/30) reset and i enter in managment mode firmware upgrade
i don't try hardware reset
I am having trouble logging in on my wireless router and when i put "admin" (WITHOUT QUOTATIONS) on the password, the same prompt kept on coming for three times and after that the message says "401 Authorization Required" (WITHOUT QUOTATIONS). I don't get though, i installed the wireless router just after i change admin and my password into (******).
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to access the browser based utility (@ http://192.168.1.1) on my router and having no luck. I've tried from two different computers (each Win 7) and each browser. I've tried wired directly to the blue/LAN ports and through Wifi. I've confimred that the IP is correct (or is at least the default gateway for each machine). The Cisco Connect tool can't find the router either.the only thing that can find the router is the CiscoConnect Express app on my iPhone.Internet is working fineish (some problems with Wifi), I just want to play with some settings.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried multiple times to hard reset my Wireless G WRT54G ver.2 router, but have had no success. I held the reset for 15 sec, 30 sec, 2 min, etc and also tried holding it and then unplugging it and then plugging it back in. I've tried everything that I have seen suggested. My problem is that I don't know what the password is to access my router's web utility thing and I need to change the IP address. With every reset attempt, I hope that the default admin password will work, but sadly no.

However, I have found no feature to allow me to do this. Similar Netgear devices do allow this feature. I suspect the answer is, "you can't do that".

View 6 Replies View RelatedJust setup my new EA6500 router and while in general it seems to be performing ok I am experiencing some problems with the admin. It seems that frequently either via cloud or local i get the cannot find router message or waiting graphic which results me in having to manually reboot the router so that i can access the admin page again, The router still works fine but no admin access until i physically reboot. This kind of defeats the whole purpose of using cloud if just by accessing the router or making changes it leaves admin access inoperable!

The connection will show still connected but I will have no internet connection. I haven't tried this wired yet. The only way I can resolve it is reseting the router on the back, restoring it to factory default. Which resets password, mac filter and all that jazz.
My serial number on the E4200 starts with 01 - does that indicate it is a version 1? If not, how do I determine which version I have? Are there any software updates available? How do I disable my guest access?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI don' know how to setup the LinkSys WRT45G (v2) router properly for the way I want to have things wired. I have Verizon FIOS in basement with MoCA enabled coax line going into a splitter, running lines throughout the house. The main router (Actiontec MI424WR) is on the first floor, east side of house connected by coax and the area I want to put the second access point (LinkSys) is on the second floor, west side of house. So very weak wireless signal where the LinkSys is at. I used a Actiontec Verizon Coaxial Network Adapter to plug into the coax outlet in the 2nd floor room. Then run an ethernet cable from that unit to a older LinkSys router WRT45g (v2). I wanted this router to provide a wireless access point and also a place to plug a Sonos unit into. On the back of the router is the usual RJ-45 port and the 4-port switch. I have the line coming from the moca adapter (source) going into port 1 of the switch, the Sonos 5 plugged into port 2 of the switch. I am able to connect and control the Sonos units about 50% of the time like this, but sometimes nothing can be found. I believe this is because my phone can not connect to the wireless when I am upstairs, anotherwards the LinkSys router is not working right. If I plug the ethernet cable from the MoCA adapter into the RJ-45 interent port (like I think it should be, since it is the source), then nothing works.Also, I do not know if the router is functioning as a wireless access point, I am suspecting it is not.The router still has stock firmware, has DHCP disabled, the security and SSID identical to the primary router.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running my home network and WAP(WPA2) behind a d-link gaming router (DHCP) with no inbound or outbound restrictions; however, I am unable to access the internet using my ipad unless I put the WAP in the DMZ. Also, if I configure security using the setup program, I can not log on to the web based utility. I have to disable security with the set up program and then log into the utility. BTW..the UID must be left blank to log into the utility( PW only) to configure the WAP, even though the manual says otherwise.
Now after all this, the WAP will be up and running for days even a few weeks. Then for no reason it will no longer be accessible and I will power it down and back up and it works fine. But this will work only a few times and I have to hit the reset button and reconfigure it all over again.
The firmware has been updated and nothing else has issues on the network. This has been happening since i bought it 3yrs ago, using an iPad, iPhone, Laptops, and PCs( XP and Windows 7) but in the past year it has been more frequent.
When I try to access the browser based utility through the address bar, I don't have the username or password.....tried admin for both and for just the pw. When I try to access advanced settings through Cisco Connects router settings / advanced settings, it comes up as if many objects were unable to load. Linksys E2500.

USing https://10.x.x.x, shows certificate warning page, then when I continue "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".DId NOT change the host hame.Last time I used the Browser Utility (weeks ago) was to disable the wireless to check something. Reenabled the wireless, no apparent problems until today when I tried to access via the Browser Utility.As I never ran Connect, there are no settings to change, and now it cannot detect the device.I guess I'll wait until I HAVE to change something, and do a 30-30-30 reset.

View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently I've been having this issue were my internet connection stops working and usually repairing the connection through control panel or unplugging the router and plugging back only temporarily reconnects me as in the next 5-10 minutes my internet is offline again. This is very annoying especially for online games as I have to constantly relog into the games. My router is a Linksys WRT45G and I use Windows XP Also on some days my internet actually works for a decent amount of time. Mainly seems to happen after I decide to play one of my online games although it has stopped working a few times even when I am not playing those games?

I have a desktop and a laptop plus iPads, etc. The laptop loses connectivity every day about the same time. My only solution so far is to reboot the router. I realize that the client lease time is set to 1 day by default but isn't it supposed to ask the modem for another day of life when this happens?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI unplugged my router and when I plugged it back in, it stopped working. The 4 port lights and the ethernet light come on immediately when I plug it in instead of the normal boot sequence.
I tried resetting it, leaving it unplugged for long periods, using the power supply from my other router,... nothing works.
my E1000 will slow down and, as I've done with other routers, I'll typically unplug it for about 20 seconds and reboot it. However, with my E1000, about 9 out of 10 times, after I plug it back in, the four port lights on the the left will dimly flash but I get no activity on the three right blue lights (the wifi, internet and power buttons) and thus no wifi or internet.
For example, this morning I unplugged the router and modem, plugged the modem back in and waited for the modem activity lights to start flashing and then plugged in the router. The four blue port lights on left side flashed very dimly but no other activity. I unplugged it and re-plugged it in about 10 times and finally, the lights on the right side popped on and all was well.
I'm experiencing significant slowness with my E4200V2 that is resolved after a reboot. Here is a pre/post reboot ping:

As you can see, the results indicate that the reboot fixes the issue, and the difference is significant and noticeable. I find that I need to reboot the router once every few days. My old router, a WRT54GL, was rock solid with the same ISP (I'm in an apartment and plug a LAN cable directly into the wall. What happens beyond that - I don't know. I think there's wireless involved somewhere, though.).
Clearly, rebooting the router resolves the issue. Since my old WRT54GL worked flawlessly, I suspect it's the router. Because the delay seems to happen between the router and the ISP, the possibilty remains that it's an issue on the ISP side. However, that seems unlikely given the stability I saw with the WRT54GL.

Just got my new TP-Link device and intend to use it in client mode for my new audio receiver to connect to my home network.Trying to configure the device, and I cannot even access the online utility. I tried using the following address:

None of these seem to work. Tried on Chrome, then Internet Explorer and made sure that the web browser was not set to proxy (it was not set to this in the first place). The address just doesn't seem to connect, and I get a "This page cannot be displayed" note, as if I'm reaching a bad address.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen connecting wirelessly (5GHz) to the E3000 after a day or so the wireless connection starts loosing speed. I have Comcast and usually get 20-30 MB download connections. After a day or so I start to lose speed (down to 5MB) until I reboot the E3000. Then I resume 20-30MB download connections. My wired connections appear fine and don’t experience the slow down. I'm doing my speed test with [URL]
The wireless slow down seems similar to the old memory leak condition of old Windows OS’s. Called Cisco and they don’t have an idea. They had me change a few settings (channel info) but I’m pretty technical and don’t feel that will fix it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just have a quick question about the TFTP utilities that Linksys has. I tried to upgrade the firmware of my BEFSR41 v1 router using the TFTP utility for a BEFSX41 and it didn't work(I just hope I did it correctly).
So, the question is, are these utilities router-specific or they should work with other routers as well?
I have the latest flash installed. I am making use of all the options available to this router. USB drive set up as a file server, both radio bands have devices which attach. All wifi security is wpa2 with a complex key string. Also have pc’s attached to all lan ports. I also have all the wireless devices registered on the mac address filter for access set to enable/allow. I have a total of 9 mac address in the list. One lan device is on the DMZ. One address is reserved. Not sure what other details you need.Router is used for online gaming, video streaming, and typical internet browsing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running an E3000 router with 1.0.04 build 6 Dec 6, 2010 firmware. I have two computers on a wired Gigabit LAN and others on WiFi (802.11g). At first, all works well and I get normal throughput via the WiFi computers.However, after about a week, WiFi speeds crawl to a fraction of what I normally get (from 12-13 Mbps down to 1-2 Mbps and from 4.8 Mbps up to less than 1 Mbps). My cable modem service is 40 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up (I get 38.9 down and 4.9 up via the LAN based computers)
How I resolve this? I need to reboot the router! Once it comes back on-line, my throughput on WiFi is restored UNTIL the following week where speeds are back to a crawl. While WiFi crawls, the LAN based computers still enjoy maximum throughput.
Not sure if I have a defective router, but if I unplug it I then need to wait at least a half hour to plug it back in. Anytime sooner and it won't broadcast a SSID or connect to the modem. This is a huge inconvenience if you want to change router settings and then you need to restart.
