Linksys Wireless Router :: Firmware Version For WRT160N?
Jan 25, 2013
Looking into a firmware upgrade. I have a WRT160N. The label on the back, next to Model Number, simply says WRT160N with no version number. I therefore conclude, per info on the Cisco site, that it is a V1 model, not V2 or V3. And yet the Admin web page for the router says firmware version is 3.0.02. I'm pretty confident I have never upgraded firmware on this router, which means this is how it came out of the box long ago. Latest firmware for V1 is 1.02.11; latest firmware for V3 is 3.0.03.
Should I upgrade to 3.0.03? Is there a way to downgrade to 1.02.11? I'm having some minor issues whch may or may not be the ruter's fault, I figure a firmware upgrade (downgrade?) will at least rule out router firmware issues.
what is latest firmware version is for router WRT 160n (v1). The Linksys site currently states that it is Ver.1.02.11 (11/08/10). However, on the admin page for my actual router it states v1.52.0 Nov 16, 2007. These versions #s and dates don't jive. How could I have a supposedly newer version that is older than the most recent one posted?
My router is the WRT160N, and it doesn't display the version number on the bottom which according to your website means my router is a VERSION 1.SO, why is it that my router says it has:
Firmware Version: v1.53.0 Dec 19, 2007 And the latest firmware is Firmware 11/08/2010 Ver.1.02.11
That looks like an EARLIER firmware version to me judging by the firmware version yet it is dated later. **bleep**. If you want, I can upload a photo of my router's model no. for all to see.My question is, am I safe to 'upgrade' to this 'earlier but dated later' firmware version or not? Why is mine showing as having a later version.
I had issues with my router incorrectly resolving URLs. For example, going to facebook.com would gtive me a "wiki does not exist" message. Pinging facebook.com would give me an IP that belongs to wikipedia. The answer was SUPPOSED to be upgrading to v3.0.03.I upgraded and now my router WILL NOT connect to my DSL modem. Oh, it says it's connected and shows the correct IP address for my DSL modem but the gateway is showing 0.0.0.0. Direct connection to my PC works just fine.I have cycled the power on both the router and the DSL modem several times. The DSL modem is working just fine. I have done several IP release/renew on the router. I have reset the router. To no avail. This firmware update (which completed successfully) seems to have killed my routers ability to communitcate with the internet.
I recently updated the firmware in my WRT160N V3.Ever since, the wireless signal is intermittent. It worked all day yesterday, and now today it doesn't connect at all.I can't remember exactly the settings I used to have before updating the firmware, should have written them down. From looking at articles on this site, I have the following settings:
MTU Manual 1492 MAC Adress enabled Network Mode: Mixed Channel Width 20MHz Channel: 11
I updated the fimware on my WRT160N v3 and followed it up with a reset of the router. I then restored the router settings that I had saved. All the settings appeared to be good, but none of my wireless devices would connect. I reneted the pass phrases (WPA2) but still nothing. Tried to change the passphrase, still no good. I then did a factory reset of the router from the setiings page and manually re-entered and save the settings, again nothing. All of my devices are able to "see" the network and the correct SSID.
I was having problems with the speed being between 30-58 kpbs when going through the WRT160N router, whether its hooked up wired or wireless, the speed with both was extremely slow and wouldnt fully open pager or would take dsl day slow. I hooked up straight to modem and I got 100+ kpbs so I figured its not my ISP, so I read that upgrading my firmware might make it faster, so I upgraded and hit and held the reset button for 30 secs like it recommended but now the 192.168.1.1 wont open, I get a message saying it cant open this page
I need to reflash a WRT54G version 2, but on the support page I can not find any firmware. Only for version 2.2. is it the compatible also with version 2?
I own the linksys wrt160n v2...It has latest firmware 2.03 build 9...After installing this firmware i have noticed the internet speeds have reduced, the router requires frequent reboots to make it stable..
i used to have firmware version 2.02 build 15...It was stable unlike the current firmware...i cant find the old firmware anywhere...how do i revert back to old firmware?
It appears that there is no firmware I can download for my WRT54GL Version 1.1. While it may never have been updated from what the router came with from the factory, it would still be useful to have it available. In my case, I would like to revert the router from the DD-WRT firmware to factory specs.
I am needing to update the firmware for my router. befw1154 version 4. I went to the download section of the linksys website, and it does show that there is an update there, but I have read in alot of places that the update downloads are in a zip file. WEll it definately wasnt in a zip file, and all it did was download a strange file and there was nothing to install or anything. My router is still on the blitz, and going down every few minutes and I am having to restart just to have it go down again. firmware update for this router?
I purchased a WRT160N router last Friday. After setting it up, everything seemed to work fine, but after a couple of hours, the router stopped responding to any requests. The LEDs stayed on as if nothing had happened, but the router was dropping everything coming from both the WAN and a wired LAN interface. Since than, I had to restart it 3 times during the last 3 days. The firmware is 1.53.0, which seems to be the latest firmware for the European market - even when I try to get a newer firmware, this site only offers the US version 1.02.2.Should I update the firmware to the US version 1.02.2 ? Is there any difference between the 1.53.0 and the 1.02.2 version ? Is there a way to restore the original firmware in case the update fails ? I haven't found any link to 1.53.0 version..Also, does this firmware updating affect my warranty ?
I am trying to assist my sister with her BEFW11S4 Wireless Router. It has been working fine until this week! The Firmwre is version 1.50. The main router is not connecting to the internet, yet the 2 wireless adapters for their other 2 computers are! It shows that the main one has a connection but when you bring up any Internet Browser it says it can't find the connection. We've checked the settings and they are all correct. We even turned the firewall off and that didn't work!
I have an E4200 router with 3 WET610N access points. I did the firmware update on the E4200 router about 2 weeks ago so my son could use his xbox when he got home after 4 months of being away. Everything seemed to work OK as far as I could tell....but when he went to sign into xbox live and watch Netflix, it will load to 98% and stop. A friend of his came over with the new Slim xbox 360 with built in wireless and it will connect fine on its own, if we hook up one of the 610N's to it, it will load to 98% on Netflix and stop again with error code R8152. Both of my older xbox's will hook up and play on xbox live, just not work with Netflix.
I also noticed, it shows the WET610N as a hard wire on xbox and will not search for any wireless networks, I have 2. The newer Slim xbox360 will search out both networks on its own if you allow it to use its internal wireless. This only happened since the firmware update. And this equipment was working fine before this. Is there a way I can restore the previous version of firmware?
I have a Cisco E1200 router that is currently running firmware version 1.0.03 build4 Mar 1, 2012. Can I upgrade to the latest version 2 firmware ? How do I know if my router hardware will support it ?
I just recently updated my firmware on my linksys router WRT54G with the new version of linksys firm ware and now my router does not work. I can not access the GUI under the ip address 192.168.1.1. I 've tried to reboot the router using the 30/30 method that is suggested by Linksys, but I still can not access the routers GUI.
A router newbie here. Running XP Pro with Comcast Cable. Want to install a BEFSR41 V2.1 as firewall, and add a second PC later.
Q. Which firmware version is the most up to date? Q. How do I install the firmware? Q. Will I need to manually enter any Comcast information? Q. Is there a step by step installation tutorial?
I have what I believe is an original (V1) version of the BEFSR41 gateway/router. The label underneath the device only shows the model number with no version information. Current firmware version on the device is 1.46.02, dated Aug 03 2004.
Can I confirm (1) that I indeed this router is at hardware version 1? If that is the case it appears from your web site that version 1.46.02 is in fact the current and only firmware version for the device and that there are no firmware version upgrades available.
The DHCP software current does not have IP address reservation, which I am interested in adding if possible via firmware upgrade. If not then I have to consider whether I want this feature bad enough to replace the router.
I own a Linksys BEFSR41 v 3.1. I've been attempting to set up a home network with three computers; my main desktop running Windows 7 Pro x64, a netbook running the same OS and a box running Windows Home Server 2011 x64. The firmware listed for my router was initially 1.05.03.
My router has the issue with resetting its administrative password to the factory default and I've been unable to set up remote access to my LAN and home server. I decided to try updating the router's firmware, but none of the versions listed fit the one I have. The label on my router says v 3.1, but Cisco's site only has a 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, then skips to 4.1, 4.2, etc. The instructions on the site warn not to use a version for a different model, but are vague as to exactly what that refers to, as the model # and the version # aren't clearly delineated.
Anyway, I tried using the latest firmware and received the, "File Pattern," error. Although it didn't seem like anything had changed, I reset the router just to be safe, then tried the v 3.0 firmware update, thinking that the software was intended for all revisions of v3.0. This time it reported updating without a problem, so I reset the router again and went back to the admin page in my browser to check the firmware version listed. To my annoyance, the firmware is now listed as 1.05.00 - i.e. an earlier version than what was shipped on the router.
This means that not only is the issue of the password resetting not fixed, but any other fixes included in the original firmware are now wiped out as well and, needless to say, I still can't set up remote access properly.
How do I restore the firmware version? Neither a reset nor a, "Restore to Factory Defaults," does this. How do I find an actual update for the router? I can't find any mention of a v 3.1 on Cisco's site, let alone support information specific to this model and version.
How do I update the firmware on my N wireless router with version 2000? It says there is an update, but I can't update it with the one firmware update that's available for download.
I happened to update firmware version of my WAG54G2 to the latest version 1.xx.xx.19. Since then connection to internet has became erratic. If rebooted, the device mostly doesn't connect. Switching to PPPoE from PPPoA and vice versa works but i have to do it every time the device is rebooted. Sometimes even that doesn't work. Basically it acts random. DSL connection shows as connected, but the internet interface is mostly down. I was wondering if i can switch back to to old 1.xx.xx.10 version. It never gave me any trouble ever for around 2 years.
I made the change WAG120G (GREAT) for WAG120N (**bleep**) and I confess that I was somewhat disappointed, the quality of the company fell dramatically. Unlike its predecessor this modem / router is bad in many ways and first of them is support for Macintosh products, the connection drops constantly and have to get on and off the wifi to work. The modem restarts and constantly drops the connection status and its predecessor NEVER did that. iPad, iPhone and Macbook can not even keep me surfing for more than one hour, the connection just stops working. Even the cable connection, my Xbox sometimes worth it to maintain a stable connection in Live. The modem has been updated with the latest firmware version (1.0.0.16). Another thing I noticed is that the modem takes A LOT to connect with the operator. It's bad, it's expensive and does not work! I
I tried to download the new firmware version (2.0.04) for Linksys x2000 hw version 1 Annex A: error 404 page not found.Same issue with 2 different machines on different internet connections.
i went through the website and figured that my firmware is 1.01.05 and there's a new version availble which is 1.01.09 for my Linksys WAG200G modem since im having problem with unstable connection and now, after i updated the firmware, not only that im dropping connection heaps more, my internet connection has slowed down by alot.
Is there anywhere I can download WAP610N Firmware Version 01.0.00 build 832? I have two units with this firmware version that work OK. I recently purchased another unit that has WAP610N Firmware Versions 1.0.01 and and can only access an IP address if I do not use any security. I also spent a lot of time on the phone with Linksys support to no avail.
I have 2 WAP4400N access points, each has a different version of the firmware installed and one has options that the other one does not.I have one access point running
If I visit the Cisco site for firmware updates, I see that only one version of firmware is available for this access point... 1.2.14.I realize that Linksys is not Cisco's main area of business, but if you are going to provide downloads for access points you could at least make sure that you have the latest version available.

I bought this recently on EBay and it works fine. I have just checked the firmware version and it displays as 120703 rel 29722. This version doesn't appear amongst the downloads - the most recent is 120427. Has somebody upgraded to the wrong software? Should I upgrade to 120427?
